Cell
(2016)

Terrible...
I'm used to movie makers butchering amazing books and crapping out the remains, but when it's done to your favourite author's work, it grates a little deeper.

Let's get the obvious point out of the way; this is nothing like the book, there's basically nothing in it whatsoever that actually matches up with the events of the book. It starts differently, we meet Tom differently, we meet Alice differently, the story itself is COMPLETELY missing, vital interactions that make us care about the characters are gone, pivotal characters are watered down to basically nothing, it's a jumbled mess that makes little sense to those who've read the book and will make none at all to those who haven't.

Truly a shame, I put off reading the book as the synopsis on the back always made it sound like it would be awful (phones are making people go crazy, Clay is on a race against time before his son switches on his phone...), but when I eventually did pick it up I picked up one of Kings best stories. This is not that story.

Dear god in heaven, The Dark Tower is next, and my soul weeps...

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues
(2013)

Just awful...
Of all the things I expected to feel when I walked out of the cinema after seeing this film, disgusted that I paid money to watch it was not one of them.

No effort has been made to actually make this film any good, or any actual sequel to the first. The writers have just crammed it with as much stuff as they could that made the first film so brilliant, and all they succeeded in doing was making it an overblown, awkward film that leaves you knowing that during every seen they're just trying to force a laugh out of you. Its also been a long time that I was so consciously aware that the actors are just performing lines for a camera, there's nothing natural about any of them. It all feels painfully scripted, all the one liners blatantly placed just to drag a laugh kicking and screaming from your lips.

The last 45 minutes goes off on such a bizarre tangent I honestly had no idea what the hell was going on or what the purpose of any of it was.

Truly disappointed with this film, and incredibly annoyed by the knowledge that it'll be a box office smash purely because the first one is such a legendary film.

Episode 50
(2011)

Don't judge a book by its cover...
Thats what i did...i saw this on the shelf and picked it up, the cover image was enticingly disturbing, a well worn through story idea but these kinds of horrors never get old if done right. But sadly, this one wasn't.

From the word go you see some of the shoddiest acting available in any movie today, a laughable "captured footage" scene of the team debunking case 49 and then even more laughable acting as they get their next job.

I think what makes this film even worse is it's use of music. If your going to do a film like this, there shouldn't BE any music other than the slightly ominous background tones to set the scene, you certainly don't need plinking, heartfelt piano music every time you have someone crying on another team members shoulder!!

This film is a joke, don't waste your time.
