Memoirs of a Geisha
(2005)

this was terrible
It was beautiful to watch though, other than that the movie was long and boring. I didn't care about any one in the movie cause I was irritated it dragged on forever and a day, I read the book and I am not a stickler to "oh the movie has to be exact and stuff", the book pacing was really good and it was a interesting read, and the movie story line was so slow I just couldn't wait for it to be over, it did not carry over any of the charm, but again it was beautiful. I don't know how long the movie was ,but it felt like forever I was angry I wasted my time watching this beautifully costumed and filmed movie yet the story was told so blah that I was so irritated by it. and what was up with the dance, it was cool they should of just said she was preforming, cause when they say lead dancer and the geisha are these elegant, delicate being and she comes out to be the lead dancer and it looks all beautiful she starts thrashing around like some rock and roll groupie at a concert I almost laughed out loud.

Brokeback Mountain
(2005)

Beautiful Love Story
It's about time!!! this movie really got to me . It was refreshing to see a love story so beautifully translated to the screen, it was so wonderful to see a love story so fearless and show yes this is a movie about gay cowboys, and you will love it god damn it! I mean did they really need to make under the Tuscan sun? I don't see how that piece of shi* was not controversial for being so damn crappy and a waste of time. Moving off that rant, this is a beautiful movie, Heath Ledger better be nominated for something cause he really captured that frustrated, torn up inside awwwww it was almost painful to watch ,the scenery wow the cinematography also spot on. I really hope people go see this movie, Lets get on with it people

Their Eyes Were Watching God
(2005)

disappointing
I'm a fan of the book, so of course my expectations were set high I really wanted to enjoy this. I thought this adaptation was so lame, I understand having to cut things down or leave stuff out for TV and time purposes , watching the movie I felt like everything was just thrown together, the characters were so translucent it was hard to connect with Janie's character and how her strong foundation and character, the honesty. She was a woman who was deeply driven by the simplest and truest emotions, she just seemed like a woman who's only desire\reality was being thrown between men, a contented trophy wife. "yawn" I like Halle Berry but I would not recommend this movie, if your a fan of the book anyway.

The Phantom of the Opera
(2004)

I loved this movie !!!
I Loved Sarah Brightman, and Michael Crawford's version of course but, I though this was a great stage to screen production, I went in with low expectations thinking nothing could live up to the version I was so familiar with and that I loved, but i was pleasantly surprised when I left the theater I was still haunted by their singing and the emotion that was captured on screen, and I couldn't wait to see it again. I thought Emmy Rossum sounded a lot better in most of the film than Brightman portrayal of Christine. Visually the movie was great, I really enjoyed Butler's portrayal of the phantom his singing was not the best in the movie, but I thought the overall portrayal of the phantom was up to par, the emotion seen through the phantom was so moving, and it takes some courage to accept a role as loved and criticize as the phantom, overall I think Butler was a good choice the " past the point of no return" scene was my favorite. I very much enjoyed the film and recommend it highly
