Silent Witness
(1996)

I used to love this show. Sadly, no more.
The current season (2023) of Silent Witness has lost me.

Ridiculous plots, awful new characters, bad acting from previously good cast members and plot lines which beggar belief.

I have given it 4 episodes, hoping that the first two doubles were an exception. They weren't. As soon as I saw the new assistant waking up in a field after a festival I felt a sense of foreboding and disappointment.

My patience had worn out.

I don't know if the writers have been brought in as interns or the supporting actors are fresh out of college but the quality is anything but good and whereas the BBC has generally been known for great dramas, they should perhaps think about retiring this series.

Way past it's sell by date and not something that you can reinvent.

A shame. RIP Silent Witneas.

Serving the Hamptons
(2022)

Very staged. Very Irritating
I love trashy TV, it's escapism for me.

This show was less escapism and more frustration at the obvious staging that this show contains. It never really finds its groove and the people never relax enough to show you their true selves and one of the main irritations is the owner.

Lindsey Lohan's cousin is a fish out of water, I don't understand what Victoria's job is, because she's never there and the 'chef' appears to be more of a cook and certainly not someone who supposedly runs the kitchen of this apparent hotspot in The Hamptons.

In the age of reality TV I feel that they could have come up with more likeable characters and less manufactured storylines - which are not that interesting anyway.

Unlike Selling the Hamptons, this is a dud for me.

Partner Track
(2022)

Easy to watch. Lazy weekend fare.
I'd never seen anything about this show, but It appeared on my feed - love Netflix' algorithm - so gave it a go and whilst it's not insightful, it's fun.

I like all the characters, they're pretty to look at and the dialogue is quite witty.

Definitely an old vs young vibe about it.

Each episode keeps your attention and it's great for a binge!

If you want easy watching and to have a smile on your face, then this is for you.

More to it that Emily in Paris, but in the same vein with great outfits for all.

If you're looking for deep, groundbreaking show with life lessons, it's probably worth swerving!

I loved it.

Echoes
(2022)

I had to finish it...But
Overly complicated in the first couple of episodes but I was in it for the duration by then so completed it.

The premise of the show was interesting but the reality not as accomplished as it could have been.

I like Michelle Monaghan was good and I loved Floss, but some of the other characters were quite hollow.

It didn't have a satisfying ending but I didn't feel like I'd wasted my life!

Perhaps indicative of Netflix's reduction of quality programmes but daily entertaining nonetheless.

Deadline
(2022)

Just couldn't be bothered
Made it part way through episode two but I couldn't see it out.

Dull characters who I had no emotional connection with, whether it was positive or negative.

I can see that Channel 5 are trying with their dramas but this is not one of their best and I do have a low bar when it comes to the channel!

Bull: Labor Days
(2019)
Episode 1, Season 4

Not a bad episode...until the ending
I often find season openers are a little weak. This one was ok, until the ending which beggared belief.

Disappointing but hopefully not indicative of the rest of the season.

Silent Witness: Home: Part 1
(2010)
Episode 9, Season 13

Painful episode
Feels stilted and awkward. A very painful subject matter that deserves focus is made into 2 hours of average TV.

Harry, the South African cop and pathologist are the only enjoyable parts of this show.

The Long Call
(2021)

It was a slog
I struggled to maintain interest in this and whilst the premise was great, the reality was hard work.

I watched it through to the end but was more relieved than anything when I finished it.

Slow, drawn out with characters that I struggled to like with the exception of the two footsoldiers, the single mum and the new dad, they added some humanity and a little bit of humour.

Won't be holding on for a season two.

SAS: Red Notice
(2021)

Makes Strike Back Seem Like Shakespeare
Not unwatchable but not great. If you like shoot 'em ups with sketchy acting then this is the one for you

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit: Svengali
(2007)
Episode 6, Season 9

Not bad, but Olivia's hair takes centre stage!
Episode is pretty good. I like that sort of cult style episodes.

That said, I couldn't take my eyes off Olivia's ever changing hair. Short crop. Less layered, longer bob. No it didn't ruin the show. Just took my focus away a little!

Station 19
(2018)

It's OK.........
I used to love Greys and Scandal was brilliant in its heyday with incisive characters, witty dialogue and engaging actors.

This is very vanilla in my opinion. The sort of show I will have on in the background but not really pay much attention to.

I don't like the lead character and whilst I absolutely get that Shondaland's thing is female protagonists, they need to be interesting enough to care about. I'm just not fussed on Herrera.

I quite like a couple of the supporting characters and I think that's why I keep watching. By no means a must watch.
