Juniper
(2021)

Superficial symbolism
This is a movie with a lot of fairly cheap symbolism. There is very little reference or insight into the why of things. Avoiding spoilers, I need to stay a bit cryptic here. Why is grandmother, who never came to her son and grandson, now here? Why is the business in the UK so urgent, that one character that could bring a more interesting dynamic, leaving for most of the movie? Why is the grandson self-destructive? The casting of father and son is okay, the casting of Ruth is questionable, as her appearance is not as rough as would be approprite for the role. This is a sweet old lady, with a nice smile, not a rough war correspondent with heavy alcoholism.... In short, aside from some scenes with a bit of fun, there was very little in this movie that seemed in sync with the core of the story to be told. The happy ending underlines this dramatically. Pity.

The Handmaid's Tale
(2017)

Great start, sloooowwww fnish
Concept of the book and the series is interesting and shows a future that may be closer to reality than we think, as we learn that fertility is declining worldwide. The first two seasons are absolutely intense and keep you at the edge of your seat. The characters are well developed and it is easy to identify yourself with some of them. Season three was still strong, nut Season Four is meh... soooo slooow and sooo stretched out. Commerciality has taken over from the desire to make a great series and create a ending that will be remembered. Lots of illogical plots, long shots of individuals (endless so to speak) and illogical behavior changes by June. We sat it out, but if there ever is a season Five, I will pass.

Last Shoot Out
(2021)

A good laugh for such poor acting
This was a short movie within my flight time. After a few minutes I started to wonder if this was some kind of parody movie? But it went on trying to be a serious western it seemed. The story is as thin as a sheet of paper, the "acting" is really extremely poor, and the stunts are hilariously poor so that it turned into a comic movie, which I watched till the (bitter) end. I was even more glad to leave the pkane than usual...

De slag om de Schelde
(2020)

Good attempt, but not really about the battle
This movie is about a battle that indeed never drw any attention, but left nearly 10,000 casualties. Unfortunately the movie is build around three main characters, well played, but the overall story of the battle itself has been grossly ignored. When you finally see about 150 men running towards the enemy, it almost feels as an unjust representation of what must gave happened. Plenty of heroism in the movie, but too little comprehension of what truly happened.

Forhøret
(2019)

Gone is the Scandinavian realism
I am surely missing the point or the cultural savviness, but this is a completely unrealistic scenario, with repetitive 'interrogations' of people giving titbits of info, and daddy overplaying his part. We were looking forward to this series but got quickly bored.

War of the Worlds
(2005)

Added nothing
A remake should, in my opinion, either bring a new interpretation or add another layer of value. This movie was bringing nothing new. The story was an almost identical copy of the earlier one, yet characters remained bland and the illogical aspects were numerous. Some scenes seemed identical with previous movie. Acting was over the top. A really disappointing movie.
