Five Feet Apart
(2019)

Five Stars Apart
This one isn't for me. I enjoy good romantic movies as much as the next guy. But for some reason, I feel that this movie isn't genuine and trying so hard. You don't have to bring teens and make up a love story among patients to tell a romantic story. It's kind of cheesy and a little pretentious. I honestly felt painful watching it and wanted it to end as soon as possible.

It's not the pain and sobbing songs that can make a good love story. You don't have to do that. And it also feels like a re-run of some other movies, such as The Fault in Our Stars. I honestly don't recommend it for mature adults who have had their share of watching movies over the years. It deserves only 5 stars. Nothing more.

The Fault in Our Stars
(2014)

The Fault in My Stars to Watch it
Seriously, I'm upset after watching this movie. It's so not for me. It's just so painful and boring that I can't sympathize with the characters for some reason.

The writer just tried to make a romantic story based on pain and sickness. It doesn't work that way. Even if there are specific cases where this can be true. It's still no where near truth. So, I'd say that the creators of this work were trying hard. I din't even feel the need to cry once, and I'm a man. One should never heed to recommendations from strangers. To each their own as they say. I'd classify this as non-romantic one. Seriously! No romance in this movie but pain.

Curb Your Enthusiasm: The Bowtie
(2005)
Episode 2, Season 5

You kidding
For the umpteen times, you guys in show biz should NEVER take the easy road when it comes to people's culture and faiths.

The private investigator made a huge mistake when he was praying as a Muslim.

When he was praying, his forehead and nose MUST touch the ground. He didn't do that. He pretended he was praying, but the moves were wrong.

He also talked when Larry entered the room when he shouldn't interrupt his prayer unless there was an emergency. After prostrating, which is the gesture of placing one's body in a reverentially or submissively prone position, there's Tashahud. Tashahud is the portion of the Muslim prayer where the person kneels or sits on the ground facing the qibla, glorifies God, and says some prayers before he ends the prayer by looking to the right and left and saying "Peace be Upon You". So, the total Muslim prayer seemed fake on the screen and wrong by all means. It's like doing Kaddish with 9 men instead of 10 at a Jewish funeral and trying to make people believe it's correct.

Other than that, the episode is good and funny.

Bliss
(2021)

Ignorance is Bliss
As they say, ignorance is bliss, and I wish I had been ignorant about this sorrowful movie. Either you need to watch it again to grasp what it's about or it's just what it is. The film is NOT Sci-Fi and it's not romantic either. It's more like a mishmash of dramatic fantasy in the mind of its creators. I love Owen Wilson. He does what's expected from him. Great actor. But the role s limiting his talent in a way. Salma Hayek appears to be a gypsy-like girl rather than a homeless person. Anyway, I think the plot should have been tighter than this because I feel it needs a lot to improve. I gave it a 5 out of 10. It's just a pass, nothing more.

A Fish Called Wanda
(1988)

A Fish Called BS
Comedy? Are you for real? There are types of movies that set the scene for you to enjoy from the beginning. This one doesn't. I honestly have a soft spot for Jamie Lee Curtis. I just love her for no reason and I'll watch any movie she is in. As for acting, there's some good acting in there. There's also so funny swearing. But I've got to be honest. There's something about this movie that rubs me up the wrong way. If you rate it on a comedy bar from 0 to 10, that one can hardly make it to 4. I know that my review is way too late, but I had to do it anyway. If you wanna laugh, go see Superhero Movie. I bet you'll laugh your ass off. Finally, I gave it a 6, which means I could probably watch it again if it'd ever be aired somewhere. But it's just a casual popcorn movie. Nothing more. Not a favorite.

Mother!
(2017)

Mother?! Meh!
I just saw this movie and I must say that as much as I enjoyed the first half, it just got ridiculous on the last one. The name "Mother" doesn't really show why the movie got its name. Perhaps 'Le Miserables' would have been a better name. The movie has such a gripping start, which continues halfway through before it got ridiculous in the middle. There's no explanation as to why the writer's character, played by Javier Bardem, behaves this way. Every writer goes through this phase of writer's block at some point in their life. The movie gets ridiculous when the guests behave strangely and start to smash things around the house. Suddenly, I felt the movie turned into some sort of 1940s war genre. When the baby got murdered, then the movie was too ridiculous to bear. If I had been seeing this one at the movie theater, I'd have felt that I was being ripped off. Jennifer Lawrence is awesome, and so is Javier Bardem, but they've done their job. Michelle Pfeiffer is my favorite gal. I love her. I must also give a shout-out to Ed Harris. So mature and so professional. Other than that, the movie gets weaker in the middle until the end.

What Happened to Monday
(2017)

What happened to us?
In a world mixed with reality and fantasy, where one would question systems and laws, this movie takes place. And what better way to demonize the communist one-child policy than weaving it in a gloomy story where 7 female siblings have to hide their existence forever? I have to say that the story of this movie is unique, for it invokes your sympathy with the 7 identical siblings. The fact that you must hide all your life with no real identity, and are only allowed to go out once a week on the day you're named after, is pretty painful and depressing. Noomi Rapace's performance was incredible. It reminds me of the talents of Uma Thurman in 'Kill Bill' and Sigourney Weaver in her epic days. The movie raises an indirect question. Is it true that love can conquer everything? We see that the CAB officer gets attached to one of the siblings, that's Saturday. Although we didn't see enough of what urges him to risk his life in order to save her, he defies everything for her. Perhaps it proves that love is blind. It sure is in this case. I recommend this movie to you. Enjoy!

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
(2017)

Needs to be More Solid and Shorter
OK, I understand that you sometimes feel tempted and peer pressured to give a high rating to a movie, but when you do so, please be logical. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is just another Marvel movie with a weak, yet emotional plot. I must say that I'm not a big fan of this movie genre, but over the years I've built up enough experience to recognize a good movie. This one could be enjoying sometimes, especially the romantic dialogues between Drax and Mantis, and between Rocket and Groot. I must also admit that Chris Pratt's acting was great in this movie and that it gives it weight. This movie could definitely be shorter, as it gets boring and drags along. I should also give a shout-out to Kurt Russel. His appearance and character certainly leave a mark on this movie.

Neverknock
(2017)

Knock, Knock, Nobody is There
This is a Halloween-like movie, but it's not a Halloween movie. A group of friends goes to a cemetery, where rumor has it that there's a door you should NEVER knock on. One little girl decides to knock anyway. It's a myth, she believed. Only then all hell broke loose. She awakens a monster. A freakish-like monster starts to hunt them down one after the other in an expected, yet gripping way. The only message that you get out of this movie is that you have to face your fears no matter what. Sometimes fears are not real. They're just fears. That's what eventually happened in the movie. When the girl faced her fears, they vanished. They no longer existed. That's what the movie is trying to deliver.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
(2016)

Stop Ruining These Classics.
I'm not a big fan of zombie movies, to be honest, but it's OK to see one once in a while. I'm against the idea of messing with classic novels this way. It's OK to make parodies sometimes, but this is neither parody nor a zombie movie. I enjoyed the romantic part of this story but sneered at the zombie part. Not quite sure what the intention of the people behind this movie was or what they were trying to say. If a movie doesn't deliver a message, it has to be entertaining. Other than that it's questionable. This movie is not OK with the zombie part. If we take out the zombie scenes, the movie wouldn't be ruined. Anyway, you will be entertained by the smooth dialogue between the actors and the romance in the story.

Happy Death Day
(2017)

Enjoyable Movie
I like creative ideas when it comes to making movies. This movie really amazed me with its clever plot. A girl relives her murder over and over, and each time, she carefully tries to avoid the bad incidents that occurred. You see the scenes being repeated somehow, but each time there's something new happening. As if it's naturally instinctive for the human mind to try to alter the trials and tribulations of life. A way of survival to be exact. This movie is a light horror for me. It's not much scary, but it keeps you on the edge of your seat most of the time. I recommend this one to you.

Kill Me Three Times
(2014)

Don't Miss Out on This One
I recommend this one to movie lovers for its clever plot. I have never seen such a clever plot that keeps twisting throughout the whole movie. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much out of this movie, given the British accent. Don't get me wrong! It's just that I'm not familiar with British movies as much as I am with American movies. I just don't get the British way of rending movies. I salute the writer for this clever plot. It's really gripping. In the beginning, I didn't really get what was going on, but later I realized that something smart was being done on the screen. Some real entertainment. Don't miss out on this one.

Wish Upon
(2017)

If Only I didn't Make a Wish
I've already come to the conclusion that it is better for human beings not to know their future, for it would be a terrible life. You wouldn't be focusing on the good things that will happen to you. Imagine knowing that something bad would happen to you at a specific time you know in advance. You would totally freak out. That's the message of this movie. A girl finds an antique box with old Chinese written on it, and she soon discovers that she can make 7 wishes upon it. It's all nice and sweet. It's like magic. It gives you power. You'd feel like you own the world in the palm of your hand. Little do you know that the magic box is actually a nightmare. Terrible things start to happen in consequence, and you wish you didn't make your wishes. You get the message. Painful and disturbing images might hit you in the movie, but the message is sure delivered. I really "wish" if the ending were different, but hey. There's no way back, my friend. You made your wish and it's inevitable. I gave it 6 out of 10, which mean I could watch it again.

The Woodsman
(2020)

You wouldn't like this one
Trust me, this one is a disaster. The acting really sucks. You'd feel that you're watching a game-based movie. This movie is classified as a thriller. Guess what? There's nothing thrilling about this movie. It looks like a project for graduation from college, more or less. I could go on and on. I just don't wanna spoil it for those who might be interested.

It was just awful to watch. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Blackhat
(2015)

So boring
First of all, the movie is so boring, pretentious, and inconsistent. Second, the movie is so boring, pretentious, and inconsistent. The people behind this movie are trying hard. No one is interested in wasting more than two hours of their lives on this boredom. Hemsworth is trying his best, but it's not helping. The entire movie just sucks. Don't waste your time or money. Unless you know the story beforehand, it'll take you some time to figure out what message is the movie trying to give. It also lingers all throughout the movie. In fact, if there's any message this movie is trying to deliver, is never watch me again.

I gave it 4 out of 10, which means it's a total flop.

Spy
(2015)

Statham could be funny?
Just got to watch this funny movie. It could have been better if it wasn't for the too much funny bits that the star-studded movie has. Melissa McCarthy is at her best in this movie. She is one of those female celebrities who you'd go to a movie just for her name. So, I dare say, her name sells like a hot cake. That said, it's the first time I see Jason Statham doing comedy. Not just Statham, Jude Law has his share of the fun, too. Some action scenes could have been better. Wounds seemed fake sometimes. One very good thing I like about this movie is the theme song. It feels like a Bond movie song. I really like it. Spy is a funny movie, and, it's way better than a lot of bull**it at the box office.

The Big Year
(2011)

Could have been better
I had higher expectations of this movie. First of all, it's classified as a comedy when it's not. The three big stars, Martin, Wilson, and Black can do a better comedy than this. I do not object to the idea of being a birdie geek, because everyone is a geek somehow. I had expected the three stars to be more into birds' life. I had expected to see more lovely, fascinating birds that I had never seen before. But that just didn't happen. It was kinda shallow. Just a group of guys go after birds wherever they are to win the title 'Birder of The Year'. As simple as it might sound, it could have been fancier on screen with much more effort. It's still OK to watch. Actually better than a lot of movies - Just don't expect much out of it. It's not a comedy.

If there's a message to be told in this movie, it's that there's a price you have to pay in order to get what you want. It sends out a message to those who waste their lives going after their pleasure, without paying attention to other important things in their lives.

Body of Lies
(2008)

Crap
OK. I've seen some bad movies but this really takes the biscuit. It's a one-sided view movie. Complicated and racist as it is, I don't recommend it to anyone. The problem with this movie is that it's trying to portray the Middle East as hell. Promotes hatred against Muslims. That's absolutely ridiculous. This movie is boring and promotes Islamophobia. I forgot to mention that the Quranic verse that was told by the guy who played the terrorist at the end of the movie is wrong and doesn't exist in the Quran. Take it from me. This movie is not good. If you want to waste two hours of your life, go watch this movie. I gave it 1/10.
