38:50
(2010)

Impressive slice of psychological terror
It's not often you come across a little low budget short film that actually works. 38:50 not only works, it's a great bit of psychological horror that shows the creator really knew what he was doing. The pacing, acting and effects are all great, and it boils along with a impressive intensity. And it's barely over eighteen minutes long, so just watch it! Then check out Chris Capel's Youtube channel for some other entertaining pieces. I stumbled upon his stuff through his hilarious "Living With Jigsaw" sketch making the rounds on Facebook, and I'd say he's definitively someone to keep an eye on with the current rise of Internet filmmaking.

Dangerous Women
(2009)

The Evil Dead women enter suburbia.
This series is unfortunately short (only 6 episodes), and each episode is only around 5 minutes long. The upside is that it doesn't take much commitment to check it out; the downside being that when you discover it's actually enjoyable, it's over too quickly. And without anything even approaching a resolution. It's obviously low-budget, but has enough clever writing and decent acting to make it fun. It's cool to see the original Evil Dead girls back together in something, and they're actually quite funny. It's just a shame whoever made it seems to have been waiting for a television offer instead of just making a great web series out of it. Even so, it's worth digging up on Youtube. Just make sure you don't confuse it with the soap opera about a women's prison. I cannot vouch for that.
