Dark Night of the Scarecrow
(1981)

Loved it!!!
'Dark Night if the Scarecrw' stars Larry Drake in the role he was born to play. Mentally challenged, Bubba Ritter(Drake)stands over 6 feet tall, is middle aged but has the mind of a 6 year old. It's no doubt that his closest friend is 10 year old Marylee(Crowe). The two seem inseparable as they play in the fields chasing butterflies, picking flowers and singing songs. One day Marylee is curious and wants to hop the fence at a neighbor's backyard. Much to Bubba's dismay, she goes for it and is immediately attacked by the neighbors' pit bull. Bubba jumps the fence and saves Marylee. Barely alive with torn clothes and blood, Bubba carries Marylee to her Mom and claims he didn't do it. Of course nobody believes him and the town assumes he had his way with the poor girl. Sickened and destined for revenge, three townsmen head out with their shotguns and hunting dogs to track Bubba down. Meanwhile, Bubba is running for his life and cries to his Mom as he clings on to her like a child. His Mom makes him hideout as a scarecrow and just as the men are about to pass him, the dogs sniff him out and poor Bubba is shot and killed. But it's within seconds that the men realize that Bubba didn't do anything wrong and actually saved the little girl's life. The men don't know how to react and are off the hook by the police.

Bubba's ghost comes back for revenge and thus begins the brutal deaths of the men that killed Bubba.

I have to say that if it weren't for Larry Drake, this movie wouldn't have been as good. Larry Drake did an excellent job as Bubba. He stole the WHOLE movie. He was excellent and it's no wonder that this man would later win 2 back-to-back Emmy's for his work as..none other than a mentally challenged man on television's, 'L.A. Law'. He plays those parts so well that in an interview, Drake stated that people actually thought he was mentally impaired. Now, that's talent. When your acting does the convincing!!! Tons of props to Drake once again!!!!!

These Three
(1936)

Wow!!!
This movie was awesome!!! A spoiled brat named Mary is nothing but badness. She torments her friends and spreads an ugly rumor about her teachers. Now the school has shut down and the teachers face some hefty fines all because of this nasty little rich girl. The ending is what took my breath away most of all. Margaret Hamilton(The Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz)plays the little girl's grandmother's maid. When the grandmother realizes Mary has been lying all along she tells the maid(Hamilton) to send her up to her room. The little brat gets feisty with the maid, or at least TRYS to, and regrets it. Hamilton delivers one of the worlds most painful face slaps in the history of film. When she slapped Mary I couldn't help but cringe. There was NO sound effect and there was NOTHING fake about that face slap. It was genuine and REAL!! Another reason no one should ever mess with that woman. Even Dorothy knew she couldn't mess with her. But this movie was great. The young girl who plays Mary does an excellent job and I must say deserved an award. She was really convincing in her role and so was everyone else.

City Without Men
(1943)

Pretty funny!!
This movie was pretty good but the only part I kept rewinding and laughing at was when one of the girls in the house gets ganged up on and beat up. Margaret Hamilton (also known for her role as the Wicked Witch of the West a few years back) gives a great performance as the wise cracking-alcohol drinking-card game cheater who beats that woman senseless and now I really know why Dorothy never messed with her in Wizard of Oz. That scene was so priceless I couldn't help but watch it over and over. LOL!!! The movie is pretty poor quality but if your a fan then I suggest you watch it!! Especially that fight scene. It was a pretty good movie overall!!

Date with a Kidnapper
(1976)

Pretty boring!!
An ugly girl is kidnapped and held for ransom by some mean man. When they head to a hotel, a group of bad guys hear this and try to take the girl to get the ransom money for themselves. It doesn't work and the mean kidnapper gets beaten and the girl gets raped in the process. The kidnapper flees with the girl and spends some time trying to talk to his mother who is in a nursing home. Get a load of a very young Larry Drake as the home attendant. Anyways, the girl ends up falling in love with the kidnapper and the rest of the movie just drags. The only good out of this movie is seeing Larry Drake's package through his tight jeans. Wow!! Low and behold people, the 'L.A. Law' star is indeed packing'!!!

Dr. Giggles
(1992)

Not bad for a slasher flick!!
It's 1957. A successful doctor, Evan Rendell(William Hunt) has just lost his wife to a heart attack. Instead of mourning, he goes mad and starts killing people hoping to find his wife a new heart. All of the murders are sadly witnessed by his 7 year old son who uses giggling as a way of dealing with his feelings. The town people get their hands on the doctor and stone him to death. They look for the son but he's nowhere to be found. It turns out that before the doctor was killed, he put the boy in his dead wife's body and sewed it up so he can get out of the house safely. But soon the son is caught and grows up in mental hospitals where 30 years later(the grown son is played by Larry Drake), he escapes. Dr. Giggles(as he's now referred to) heads to his childhood home and puts on his father's old clothes and gets a hold of his father's medical instruments. He then goes out and seeks revenge in the town that killed his father. During his random murdering spree(which consists mostly of teenagers), he comes across a teen aged girl named Jennifer(Holly Marie Combs)who suffers from a heart ailment. Remembering about his mother, Dr. Giggles decides to help the girl and kills anyone who stands in his way. Jennifer tries her best to flee the mentally unstable doctor but even with the help of her boyfriend(Glenn Quinn), her father(Cliff De Young) and local policemen( Keith Diamond and Richard Bradford), Dr. Giggles manages to get a hold of her and nearly kills her while attempting the risky operation. Meak Jennifer is soon rescued by the cop and her boyfriend and Dr. Giggles gets a taste of his own medicine which turns into a happy ending. This slasher flick is full of gore, bad language and some sensuality but it's all in all a pretty good flick. Go out and rent it and if you really enjoyed it...buy it!!

The Night Caller
(1998)

What can I say?!
You don't normally see a female psycho too much these days on the big screen. Tracy Nelson portrays Beth Needham. A timid and lonely thirty something year old woman who works the graveyard shift at a local convenience store and takes care of her elderly and sick, bed-ridden mother(Eve Sigall) with whom she lives with. Right off the bat you can tell Beth has some problems but can't really tell how deep they are until you've seen the entire movie. Because of her job and demands at home, Beth has basically no life. Her only bit of happiness is from listening to a radio show of Dr. Roland(Shanna Reed)who Beth becomes an instant fan of. One day while at work, Beth forces herself(and after seeing a vision of Dr.Roland)to call up the doctor herself. Calling herself"Beverly", Beth talks with the kind and sympathetic doctor on the air and the doctor makes Beth feel better. At this point Beth decides that she must become closer to the doctor no matter what it takes. After the death of her Mother and being fired from her job, Beth realizes that she never has to work again due to some stocks her Mother had hidden away. Beth has nothing to worry about only to get to Dr. Roland. Beth becomes an answering girl at Dr.Rolands answering service and even makes her way into babysitting Dr.Rolands 11 year old son, Matt(Zack Hopkins). Matt adores Beth and so does Dr. Roland until people start getting in the way Beth turns from timid girl to total psycho in seconds. After killing her co-worker(Cyndi Pass) and Dr. Roland's manager(Mary Crosby), Beth kidnaps Dr. Roland and drives her to the middle of nowhere so the two can spend time together. I won't give away the ending but I will say that Dr. Roland does whatever she can to get away from Beth.

A Mother's Revenge
(1993)

Pretty good!!
Pretty good Lifetime movie. Lesley Ann Warren is Carol. A woman who juggles motherhood and a career and a husband who's always on the go with business trips, etc.. they have two daughters Jill aged 17 and Wendy, 12. While Jill deals with her own world into becoming independent and an adult, Wendy seems to be more closer to her Carol. One day Carol realizes she needs to stay late at work so she calls Jill up at work to pick up Wendy after school. Jill is late in picking her up and this worries Wendy who heads back into the school building a little after 5pm to call her mother. Little does Wendy know, there is a sick perverted janitor, Frank, still inside who's got his eye on Wendy and before Wendy can call her mother, he beats then rapes her leaving her for dead.

Wendy is in the hospital clinging for life while Frank is caught and while in court Frank's quick witted attorney along with his lying mother take him off the hook. There is not enough evidence and Frank is free from all charges and is a free man. Carol is outraged at what is happening and decides to take the law into her own hands. Right there in the court room, she pulls a gun out of her purse and shoots and kills Frank. Now Carol must face with the possibility of never seeing Wendy again. Wendy awakes from her coma and is getting better when she finds out her mother is in court for killing her rapist.

The rest of the story is throughly acted and avoids being too sappy. In the end, Carol gets less time in prison(I believe she ends up getting like 2 or 3 years) and Frank's mother fesses up to lying under oath. Wendy heads back to school and Jill and her Mother along with Wendy become closer and stronger. I liked it and it was great to see Lesley Ann Warren in yet another movie she so greatly manages.

The Mafu Cage
(1978)

Weird!!!!!
This movie was flat out weird. Carol Kane plays Cissy, a woman who dresses in African-type clothing and has literally turned the house into a jungle. Cissy lives alone with her older sister, Ellen. They only have each other and you can tell right from the back that Cissy has issues!!! She loves her sister dearly and longs to spend time with her. She sleeps with her sister at night as if she's a child and does things that maybe not many women do to their sisters. For instance, there's this one scene where Cissy is sleeping with her sister in a hammock and then Cissy begins to kiss and touch her sister while she's asleep and then you see the hammock turn over. Don't know what the heck that was supposed to mean. Then this other night, Cissy is telling her sister how she loves to be naked next to her and how she's the only person that's touched her breasts and all that stuff. Then Cissy is pouring hot oil over her sisters back and giving her a sexual back massage. WEIRD!!!

Anyway, Cissy kills her pet monkey and threatens to commit suicide when she can't get another one. After cutting her wrist, her sister gives in and gets her another one. One day Ellen hears Cissy screaming and sees her beating the monkey to death with a chain. ISSUES!!!!!!!!!!!! Cissy then kills her sister's boyfriend, whom she hated. She then causes her sister to go crazy and eventually the sister dies. The quality of the DVD was very weak and dark. You can hardly see much of the movie but other than that....it was good!!! Once again, KUDOS to Kane!! She's excellent!!!! Every movie I've seen her in so far she blows me away. She's really good!!! I especially love it when she plays psycho characters like this one and the one from 'Office Killer'.

Wedding in White
(1972)

Wow!!
16 year old Jeannie's(Carol Kane in her screen debut)brother has just come back from the army. He brings a friend named Billy along because Billy has no where to go. After a drunken night out, Billy rapes Jeannie as she sleeps on the couch. Billy and Jeannie's brother, Jimmy leave in the next morning and Jeannie is left hurt, afraid and pregnant. Once her parents find out, they blame no one but Jeannie. Her Mother begs the Father not to send Jeannie away. They let her stay but force her to marry an old man so they won't have to deal with gossip. Jeannie marries the old man and you can only feel sorry for her as you see this isn't a life she has wanted but has been made for her. Carol Kane delivers an awesome performance yet again. She blows me away every single time I see her in a movie. A lot younger here, I believe she is about 19, I still can't believe how great she was with it being one of her first films and all. I felt so bad for her through out the whole movie. Once again, mad props to Kane who without her this film wouldn't be as great as it was.

Office Killer
(1997)

Good!!
The opening credits are awesome!! I just love the way they bring the names out while that great music is playing. I really want to get my hands on the soundtrack.

Short, sweet, and amazing actress Carol Kane plays Dorine Douglas, a lonely middle aged woman who is buried under big sweaters, clunky shoes and over sized glasses. She keeps to herself, barely talking to anyone and cringes at the slightest touch. Dorine lives alone with her elderly mother who is basically handicapped. Dorine works at Constant Consumer magazine which she has been working for the past 16 years. Dorine, along with many if not all employees, have been down sized to part timers due to a lack in funds. Dorine now has to work at home from her laptop. The last night at the office, Dorine runs into computer trouble and seeks help from one of her co-workers. A jerk who hates everything about her, Gary tries his best to make her feel uncomfortable and succeeds. After she returns from the bathroom, Dorine notices that Gary has been accidentally electrocuted. Here is where it all begins!! Instead of telling the police, Dorine takes his corpse to her house and sets him on a sofa in her basement. Now of course it's normal for one to think that this lady has got serious issues right from the get go but as the movie progresses you should tell yourself that words like 'crazy' and 'psycho' are total understatements. Dorine begins to feel a form of comfort for her loneliness after killing her boss and another co-worker along with a pair of 7 year old girl scout cookie sellers(Which I think was very screwed up). She sets each body in the basement and begins to talk to them and giggle to herself as if the dead people are talking back. Issues people....ISSUES!! We soon learn that Dorine's strangeness and discomfort comes from being sexually abused by her father when she was young. In one of the flashback scenes, we see that Dorine(as a child)has killed her father. Anyway, Doreen comes home one day and finds her elderly mother has died(No, she didn't do it!)but the way Doreen screams to her mom after her mom dies, is priceless. I love the way she goes from "Mommy don't go away...!!" to "I don't care...you and Daddy can dance in hell alright...hahahahaha!!" in a split second. Man, does this woman have major issues or what?! Molly Ringwald plays Kim, a co-worker who despises Dorine and is friends with co-worker, Norah(Tripplehorn). Is it very obvious that Kim doesn't like Dorine and it turns to a brutal fight in the stairwell once Kim has been fired from her job. Kim manges to escape Dorine's attempt to strangle her. Mean while Norah begins to befriend Dorine and on their way to have lunch, Dorine knocks Norah out and drags her home to the basement. Norah's boyfriend comes looking for her and heads to Dorine's house. He hears a noise in the basement. Dorine runs down there before he can and locks the door behind her. Norah runs to Dorine and freaks out when Dorine realizes Norah's secret: Norah is the reason why work is going bad. Norah has been secretly stealing money from the company thus causing the job cuts. Norah tries to escape and her boyfriend manages to break in the basement. Dorine kills him and after a long struggle, ends up killing Norah as well. The ending was a bit weak and could've been better but that's just my opinion.

Carol Kane delivers one of the best performances I've ever seen!! I don't think an actor can portray a crazy/psychotic person as convincing as Kane did. You can't help but feel sorry for Dorine even after she goes on her killing spree. This movie was well acted and the plot, although silly at times, was good over all. After watching this movie I can only say that I hope no one tries to ever mess with quiet, mousy people. You just never know.

The Dentist 2
(1998)

Crazy!!
This movie had me hitting the MUTE button. The drills and the close-up dental procedures was enough to make me cringe. Corbin Berson did a pretty good job as the wicked dentist who escapes to beautiful Paradise, MI and lands the job of the town's only dentist only because he kills the town's only dentist. He begins killing his patients and will do anything to get the girl of his dreams who just so happened to rent out her sweet little cottage to him. Kinda cheesy and it hurt the way he threw the magazines at the receptionist, Bernice(who was played by Wendy Robie)claiming the magazines were out of date. Anywho, it was OK..cheesy and it dragged. Look out for Clint Howard. LOL!!

The Attic Expeditions
(2001)

Weird?!
I remember being really confused the first time I saw this. But after watching it twice, I was starting to understand more of it. This is a movie that if you don't give it your undivided attention, you will get lost in it like I did. It's about this guy named Trevor who doesn't remember killing his girlfriend. He wakes up in a mental hospital and is very confused how he even got there. He's had brain surgery and is then sent to live in a house where he can recuperate. He begins having nightmares about the attic in that house. We later learn that that same house is where his girlfriend was murdered. His memory begins to catch up with him and then he learns that his recuperation was actually a test his doctor was giving him and the other mental patients are in fact just actors. Wendy Robie did an excellent job as Abbey. How she looks exactly the same as she did 10 years ago is beyond me. Too bad her character got killed. I would've liked to see more of her. Towards the ending I kinda felt like I was watching a porno flick. It was so unnecessary to the film. Oh well...Ted Raimi was great too!!

The Beguiled
(1971)

What can I say?!
This was a pretty good movie overall. A little girl is picking mushrooms and notices a wounded man(Eastwood). She brings him to the all girls school she's in and the head of the school(Page)takes him in. Her assistant(Hartman)begins to fall in love with the wounded man and as he gets better, he becomes an object of lust to almost all the women. He even kisses the little girl which I thought was pretty sick. The girls fight over him and the older woman(Page) even begins to sexually dream about having a threesome with the man and her assistant. But anyway, the ending made me feel a lot better. Watch it and you'll see what I mean.

The People Under the Stairs
(1991)

Funny, sometimes silly but over all GREAT!!
A thirteen-year-old boy, nicknamed Fool(Brandon Adams), lives in the ghetto with his sister and sick mother. When his family doesn't have enough money to pay the rent or his mother's operation, Fool is persuaded by a family friend, Leroy(Ving Rhames), to break into the landlord's house to steal a valuable coin collection. Once Fool and Leroy are inside the huge and heavily fortified house, they realize they've gotten more than they bargained for. The landlords turn out to be an insane brother and sister couple who kidnap boys and keep them locked in their basement. Alice(A.J. Langer), the couple's kidnapped daughter, doesn't live in the basement, but is constantly sexually and physically abused by them. A frantic chase begins as Fool tries to save himself, Alice, the boys and his community from the evil landlords. The ending was satisfying and over all the movie was very well acted, although the plot was a bit silly at times. Wendy Robie did a great job and I love her acting. Brandon Adams couldn't have done a better job.

Afraid of the Dark
(1991)

I was confused!!
OK. This movie starts out with a young boy. His mother is blind, his father is a policeman. While on vacation from school, he accompanies his mother to a class where they teach blind people how to knit. There is a man on the loose who terrorizes and slashes blind people with a razor. Then we see the little boy rescue his blind friend by stabbing the man who was about to kill her. Then it turns to the little boy getting dressed for a wedding. He has on thick glasses and it turns out his mother isn't blind at all. His blind friend becomes his half sister and everyone loses their roles. So by then I am so confused. This movie was good but only if the plot wasn't so confusing.

Problem Child 2
(1991)

Pretty good!!
Junior(Oliver) and Ben Healy(Ritter) are back in this gross but funny sequel. Junior and his father move to a beautiful town called Mortville. Ben is trying to fit in the social pipeline as he tries to go to his neighbor's BBQ and go on dates. Junior has other plans. He hates all the crazy women his father dates and Big Ben Healy(Warden) pays them both a visit as we learn he's got no other place to go. Ben then meets the nurse from Junior's school, Annie(Yasbeck). He begins to like her and asks her out but she states she cannot go out because of a problem. Ben then meets rich gal, LaWanda Dumore,(Newman) who begins to fancy Ben and will do whatever it takes to win his heart even if it means dealing with trouble maker Junior. She hates kids and doesn't even flinch when Junior pulls a few pranks on her. Realizing he's going to lose no matter what, Junior and new pal Trixie(who were actually enemies in the beginning of the movie) team up and decide to get their single parents together. Trixie is worst than Junior and we finally realize what Nurse Annie's problem is: She's Trixie's mother. In the middle of the wedding between LaWanda and Ben, Trixie ruins it and Ben realizes he's been in love with Annie the whole time and not LaWanda. Annie and Ben kiss and Big Ben kisses LaWanda. Junior and Trixie are happy and the movie ends with the four of them walking off to the house. Cute, gross but hilarious!!!

Full Moon High
(1981)

This movie was SO......
Whack!!! I got this movie because Elizabeth Hartman was in it. I was disappointed to find out she was in like two short scenes towards the end. Other than that I was basically hitting the fast forward button the entire time. Some teenager goes on a trip to Romania with his Dad and gets bitten by a wolf and turns into a werewolf if there's a full moon. He kills his father and friends. About 30 years past but he doesn't age a bit and enrolls in a high school. There he meets a shy teacher whom he ends up biting and then has kids with her. This movie sucked and I don't recommend it to anyone. Read War and Peace instead. Only Ms. Hartman did a great job. Check out a very young Bob Saget in this one!!

A Child Lost Forever: The Jerry Sherwood Story
(1992)

Really, really good!!
I remember watching this movie when I was about 14 years old on Lifetime. Beverly D'Angelo plays a young mother who is forced to give up her newborn son for adoption. Her son gets adopted by this older Christian couple. They already have a 4 year old son(Miko Hughes). The wife and husband seem normal, kind, etc. Then one day the adopted son(Cortland Mead)who's about 4 now acts up one day at the dinner table. The mother(Dana Ivey) gives her adoptive son a beat down while the father and brother sit at the table and act like nothing is happening. Then that night, the mother makes the boy kneel on a broomstick and makes him say prayers repeatedly. It isn't until about 20 years or so later that D'Angelo tries to see what her adopted son is up to when she recevies the tragic news of her life. Very good movie!!

You're a Big Boy Now
(1966)

Are you kidding?!
This movie was very boring and made really no kind of sense to me at all. It's about this ugly, gap-toothed, 19 year old guy who doesn't know much about girls and when he moves out on his own, he decides to see what girls are like. He walks around Times Square and ends up at a peep show. Elizabeth Hartman plays an actress who's also a go-go dancer in whom the ugly guy gets a crush on after watching her dance at a club one day. She decides to mess with his mind by inviting him to move in with her and gives him some what of a thrill that night(Don't worry nothing happens she just turns out the lights, kisses him and then dumps him the next day. I just knew she wouldn't go that far). She then begins to date the ugly guy's friend whom she eventually dumps as well. You can tell she's an insecure person who loves to mess with guy's minds and then dump them. At the end the ugly guy ends up getting together with this cross-eyed chick who's had a huge crush on him throughout the whole movie. Thank God Elizabeth Hartman is my favorite actress. Otherwise I would've stopped watching this movie about 20 mins after it started. It was a bore!!!

A Patch of Blue
(1965)

OMG!!
The first time I saw this movie I cried. It is such a wonderful movie. Selina is an 18 year old caucasion blind girl who lives in a small apartment with her alcoholic grandfather and abusive mother. Selina decides to go to the park one day and sits under a tree while working on her beaded necklaces. There she meets Gordon. A handsome African American man who befriends Selina and begins to show Selina the way of life. Selina, not knowing that Gordon is African American, begins to fall in love with him. The two become close and share a kiss. Gordon is confused yet Selina will stop at nothing to be with him. All hell breaks loose when Selina's mother, Rose Ann, finds Selina and Gordon together and she decides to move away. Gordon decides to put her in a school for the blind. Knowing their relationship won't work because of society, Gordon tries to explain to Selina about himself but she interrupts him claiming she already knows he's black and she's still very much in love with him and thinks he's beautiful. The ending is great and I recommend this wonderful movie to everyone. It will make you laugh and cry and most of all make you realize it's what's inside that matters most. Elizabeth Hartman and Sidney Poiter are excellent as Selina and Gordon. I give this movie 10 stars but wish I could give it more!!
