Pál Adrienn
(2010)

Very long, quite boring and especially depressive movie.
Compared to the film maker's last effort, "Friss Levegö", this movie does not stand out. The plot, about a nurse in the terminally ill department goes to seek her childhood friend, is not enough to keep attention. Besides, neither the main character, nor any of the side characters seem to have anything appealing to keep the viewer amused. All we see is gray buildings, unfriendly and non attached people; for one hour this is still okay, but given the length of this movie it is simply too long. I have watched this movie on DVD and had to take a break more than once, just because of boredom. Technically speaking, there were no serious flaws in the plot, but its appeal was simply not enough. If you have any choice, there are much better movies made in Hungary than this!

A hortobágy legendája
(2008)

Cheap nationalistic junk
This made-for-television movie comprises a number of short stories about heroic persons living on the puszta. The characters are all very flat and essentially all "real Hungarian" persons are supposed to be good, contrary to all others(Russians, communists) who are "evil". The movie makes the impression to be made by amateurs, especially as the sub-stories are being commented by a narrator, which is a form of movie- making that is at least outdated and very unattractive to watch. Nevertheless, this production is heralded as a milestone for many Hungarians who long for politically influenced culture. Hopefully for Hungarian cinema, this trend will one day come to an end and movies will be made for artistic reasons and value again, and not as pure nationalist political propaganda. The images of Hortobágy puszta nature are beautiful; that may be the only reason to consider spending your time on this production.

Stolen Good
(2002)

The worst movie I've seen in a long time
I bought this movie on DVD on a bargain today, but even paying 1 Euro for it was way too much. It's not the lack of funds that made this movie a terrible experience for me to watch. Bad camera-work and awful sound are only minor annoyances compared to the two major issues with what's wrong with this movie. First it's the acting. At some points in this movie I was really convinced that the actors were deliberately screwing things up. I mean, any mediocre high school stage play has better acting than what's shown by the actors in this production. Were the actors maybe convinced during the shooting that absolutely nobody would be watching the movie later on? The second point that makes this movie worse than just a waste of time is the plot, or better said the lack of any plot at all. Basically, the movie is about some youngsters hanging around with snowboards and stealing cars. After watching this movie for a quarter of an hour, I already knew - who cares what happens next? Please, ignore this movie at any cost, truly I haven't seen as bad as this in a long time.

Der Untergang
(2004)

Extremely detailed, and way too long
Having traveled from the Netherlands to Germany to see this movie, you might understand I was quite curious about this German production.

Well, in the beginning, the movie is fairly exciting, it gives a very accurate picture of life inside the Berlin bunker. Hitler as a person is depicted realistically and is interesting to watch. But, after a while, things become boring. Everyone who has some interest in Second World War history knows what happened, and it is indeed shown in detail. No minor detail of the happenings is left out. Although this is ideal for purists and Nazi fetishists, for the play itself, which must be considered drama rather than documentary, it makes the movie a very long sit, leaving the viewer only to wish the movie goes to an end. Another point of criticism is the fact that of the main players, no biography is given somehow during the play. Younger people, like me do not exactly know what names like Speer, Göbbels and Goering were responsible for in the third Reich.
