There's Something in the Barn
(2023)

I used to like Martin starr
This is such a badly written film.

Stupid husband, bland step mom.

Dull kids. The son keeps saying No one listens to him but he never tells anyone anything. The cop and the elf are the only reason I kept watching.

Looks fine and sounds fine.

I've always enjoyed Martin Starr in everything I've seen him in. But the fact that he helped produce this tripe makes me think a little less of him.

Not funny Not scary.

There is so much talent around but yet lame films like this are accepted and released.

Did nobody watch this and say take my name off this time wasting nonsense

It's not even tongue and cheek good, or tacky cheesy good. It's a dumb film.

Voyagers
(2021)

People who didn't understand this movie are the problem
You have people who are controlled by fear and people who follow logic. But worse you have people who push fear to control others. Very much like the political media in real life.

One review said the kids are spoiled brats, this person is oblivious, The kids are humans, humans now and throughout history.

We are given the garden of eden and we give Into temptation and mess it up for ourselves.

This film is great, yes we have seen this story told since stories have been told, but this is a good watch, a modern day parable that unfortunately people can't see past spoilt teenagers and see themselves In the characters.

The Scenesters
(2009)

I am very serious about this 10
These filmmakers are very underrated.

This is a crime noir, tounge in cheek very clever and subtle comedy.

If people didn't like this film it's because they didn't get the nuance.

I have watched this film so many times. It has become one of my wife's favorites.

I want more people to see this film.

It's black and white and that will turn off a lot of people.

But don't be that guy.

Obviously they didn't have much of a budget and that's another reason to watch it, they did such a great job with what little they had. If you are a fan of film, or comedy or detective noir then you will love this.

Making Monsters
(2019)

This was great.
Was expecting something meh, but what I got was great. Okay the ending could have been better.

This was funny and creepy, well written well cast and all round very enjoyable.

For those saying it doesn't tie everything up, it does. The girls visions are explained at the start. If you need more than that then go watch some scream crap. This was clever and respected its audience loose ends can be surmised by thousands of horror films before it.

I will be rewatching this a few times.

Great characters too, cool style and great effects. Very enjoyable if you like the genre. I will be seeking out this filmmakers other work.

The Strays
(2023)

This is so enjoyable. Very offbeat, brilliant.
This is quite obviously based on a play.

The end alone has that punchline ending that goes best with a great play.

This film was such a great surprise.

A keeping up with the joneses with dark consequences.

I Had no Idea what I was about to get into with this but I love an offbeat thriller so this seemed like a good fit.

I was on the edge of my seat the entire time.

Such a thrill to watch this film unfold as it goes. I just finished it and am watching it again as I write this.

Cool camera work and the lead does a great job with this character, you can feel her struggle, her anxiety bleeds from the screen into the viewer. This is a new favorite of mine.

Lullaby
(2022)

Not generic at all. This was great
I loved this. Little gem just hanging out in film limbo.

My absolute favorite part was when the characters communicated what was happening and figured out they werent crazy early on. Too many films go the way of the apathetic husband who thinks his wife is nuts. This does not do that.

I Was not expecting much.

But I really enjoyed this. It's not subtle. This movie keeps going. Standard introduction with standard new parents and child, reads a lullaby and boom the film just goes from there.

No crappy time wasting tension building nonsense.

I would absolutely watch a few more of these. There is one scene of a rabbi and his sidekick and I would love to see more of these characters, kinda Constantine vibes. For fans of horror this is excellent.

Escape Room
(2017)

This was soo bad.
This is a terrible movie. Bad acting. Terrible script, awful dialogue dumb puzzles.

Unlikable characters with no chemistry.

It's as if the actors all arrived on Set and where given scripts 5 mins before filming, with no run through.

A nonsensical ending, just some sinister voice and strobe effects. No actual explanation.

It takes place in less then an hour but they act like they have been there for days or weeks.

Main dudes madness is completely over the top for what little has actually happened In Such short time.

Not one redeemable point on this waste of effort.

Shame on The director, producers and anyone else for this pointless insulting travesty.

The Block Island Sound
(2020)

This surprised me.
I really enjoyed this. Good acting good script, good story. I enjoyed all the characters, they felt like real people.

Lots of suspense and a good pace.

Not sure why it's rated tv-ma but regardless it was a very enjoyable film.

The conspiracy dude with the glasses was a fun character, I would have liked to see more of him or even had him participate in the ending to give him some vindication . But other than that, this was a fine piece of "horror" Everyone did a great job.

Could have been longer to deal with some wrapping up of the story arcs but maybe that would have ruined it.

Good film highly recommend.

All Eyes
(2022)

Good film. Low budget.
Better than I expected. It has its weak points from a film fans perspective. But put away your snobbery and enjoy a great effort with a great sound design that fits every emotion conveyed. Whoever put the music and sound effects in this film is the true hero.

I had fun with this one. Writer and director need to do a little better, actors are not great perhaps because of an inexperienced director. But like I said, great effort. I'd watch more from these guys.

If you have seen the film "After midnight" It's kinds the same vein.

Has an interesting story that gives you thoughtful characters. And cleverly used its obvious limited budget.

A Ghost Story
(2017)

This is such a great film.
Rooney Maras acting is amazing.

This is not to be watched half ass'd.

Curl up and immerse yourself in the soundscape, enjoy the great acting and beautiful cinematography. That is how you enjoy this movie.

I just want to talk about all the amazing scenes and there are so many, but I'll hold back. ( truth be told I typed them out but deleted them) I've watched it 3 times now and it still amazes me.

If you are fast forwarding this film then you are interrupting the flow.

If you like films you will love this.

If you prefer block busters and hilarious comedy ensembles then this is probably not you cup of tea.

Dramatic emotional masterpiece.

The Sandman
(2022)

Loved the comics so wasn't expecting much
I enjoyed it.

My wife who is not familiar with the source enjoyed it, she said " its boring and drawn out but the story is interesting".

It looks cheap and british so visuals aren't as amazing as it deserves, but the story teller is there and they are telling a great story.

One of the best writers of stories is telling their story about stories and I'm here for it.

The characters are there some slight changes to a few but that's to be expected when going from book to tv.

There are not alot of payoffs in the first season, especially if you know what's coming.

But as a fan of the original who lived these books through the 90s, I enjoyed it because I went in with low expectations and appreciate what they did and what they changed with the budget they had I would like it to be better and more spectacular but it's not crap, look at it as a magical stage play.

Joseph Gordon Levitt was originally involved as a producer and I can't help wonder what he would have done with it.

But at least it's not crap.

I definitely look forward to the next season, hopefully someone will give em more money.

Day Shift
(2022)

I thought I was dumb and wanted to hate it.
This was so enjoyable. Story and details are terrible.

But it makes it all up in action, stunt work, and Dave Francos weirdly lovable quality.

Can't help but really enjoy this movie.

The Northman
(2022)

Loved this film.
Some commentor said to watch Conan instead.

This is infinitely better. If you like the directors other work ( the witch and the light house) you'll love this.

Such a powerful film.

Classic story, amazing acting, beautiful visuals....

You Won't Be Alone
(2022)

Excellent film
Beautiful script, story is mostly told through the amazing visuals. I thoroughly enjoyed this.

The actors seem very passionate in their respective role. This is definitely a gem for film fans.

Movie fans will not get this unless they enjoy film too.

This film doesn't hold back on the blood either.

Not a conventional horror more of a bloody drama. A drarror maybe.

Just a beautiful story about a witch.

How It Ends
(2021)

The CIA wrote all of Bob Dylans songs.
This film is a beautiful story of a human who wants to reconcile with herself and life on the last day on earth.

Hilarious odyssey full of crazy characters played by some of the funniest actors A philosophical comedy.

The Night House
(2020)

This was great
I can't understand the reviews saying it's a slow burn.

I found it compelling as it moved through the story and character introductions with no wasted moments.

It's not high octane by any means but it is a great film and halls performance is amazing.

I liked that it didn't spoon feed you the story.

We Need to Do Something
(2021)

I liked it.
Off beat horror movie.

Not everyone's cup of tea that's for sure.

For such a small idea it yields big results, wirh just the right amount of crazy.

All I'll say is endings are hard but this stopped just in time.

Small Engine Repair
(2021)

Now this is how you tell a story.
Such an unexpected journey. Beautiful movie about family that would make Dom torreto blush.

I wouldn't call it a comedy, but it is so much more.

I laughed, I cried, it had my heart racing.

Actors did an amazing job.

I was gonna score it 8 but then I thought, hey it did everything a film is supposed to do.

Had me on the edge of my seat.

Rook
(2020)

Low budget but very well done.
Think Guy Ritchie meets Quentin Tarantino and they loose all their money.

But it's a very enjoyable film, great dialogue and the actors gave it their all for better or worse.

Get past the low production value and you have a funny little story ro enjoy.

Don't Breathe 2
(2021)

Only okay
This director is a fan of Leon the professional, lots of references, Lot of plot holes but lots of Stephen lang killing people and sure this is why we watch these.

Not as good as the first one so don t get too hyped.

Cherry
(2021)

What a great film.
Yes it's long, but it sucks you in and it changes pace at a great rate. Different chapters with different emotions.

Almost a masterpiece.

Everyone plays their role perfectly.

Wind Chill
(2007)

Expected nothing and it was great
I read the description and gave it a go.

I was pleasantly surprised. The suspense and mystery build up was great, especially seeing as I had no idea where it was going.

It's hard to end a good story but it did a fine job.

I had no idea what to expect so it entertained me.

The Retreat
(2021)

Short and sweet.
Feels like the same old stuff but it's not.

I enjoyed this, it was a little short but it certainly doesn't waste time.

Felt like I was watching actual people in this one and not the run of the mill idiots.

If you like the genre then give this a look.

Retfærdighedens ryttere
(2020)

Just wow.
What a great piece of art.

Such an enjoyable film, it brings together a bunch of misfits dealing with their own grievances in such a funny, light and violent way.

Great actors, great script and beautiful cinematography.

I Iook forward to rewatching this gem.

Shame on the name.

The Education of Fredrick Fitzell
(2020)

What a remarkable film
I really enjoyed this. It sucks you in and brings you on an epic journey. It is definitely for people who love and respect film. Beautiful in both sound and vision, great cast and a nice mystery to keep you guessing.

I look forward to seeing more from this director.
