Heartbreak High
(2022)

H8ers' Gonna Hate Bu' Sisterhood Will Stay
Susan Sarandon recently formally came out as bi.

This show came out right after the news and somehow let me see bits of the classic T&L, and also, tributes to too many legendary movies and shows.

Tons of sexual and gender identities will be explored and portrayed. Characters of different ethnic and racial backgrounds are displayed in a "light-hearted way" that no one gets "affirmative-action-ish" educational back story that "they are this different because of their heritage" etc., which made the show easily jumps into a world more accessible to audiences from different backgrounds, in my opinion. Somewhere impartial, not super eurocentric or usa-centric or Aussie-centric (if thats a real word).

To be honest, any descriptive words I want to use to "amway" the show will give away the suspense. But if you wanna have a weekend binging a good coming of age Aussie school drama with a bunch of woman-performer-only good music, come join me, let's make this show a 2nd season BABY!!

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark
(2019)

Derivative
Derivative af. Death Note, the Cabin in the Woods, It Follows, Final Destination, Truth of Death, Channel Zero etc........

It's a movie that said nothing and I loved that it made me able to sleep during a manic episode

Sweetbitter: Sec or Demi-Sec
(2019)
Episode 4, Season 2

Whaaat?
Why is this show even got a second season? Yeah yeah, wow nice romanticization of serving work and first decade 21st century nostalgia. But that's it....

Poor Starz. Like these are the only choices you left to produce..

Slumming by Outsiders: the Casualty of Cultural Representations and How to Be a Respectful Spectator
I really wanna talk about the privacy of this movie and the millions of stories and cultural artifacts that are behind the representation and iconorgraphies of this film.

This movie is essentially a Chinese Diaspora movie made for Chinese viewers. But how to define a Chinese viewer? I guess for this instance, if you can identify with any of the character shown in this movie, then you are the person this movie is narrating for. You probably need fluent English listening skills, native Chinese skills, and potentially some Italian opera background (which I didn't know could have been useful for this movie while some Caro mio ben started playing).

Although, as a first-gen Chinese Canadian young adult, they don't have too good a line write for lots of Chinese conversations, plenty of slangs, expressions and idioms were still used in this movie in Chinese. And to be honest, I wouldn't even expect anyone Chinese who migrated out of China before secondary education system to half-understand them. So while I was crying so hard or being silent during some heart-breaking lines and emotion-inducing dark-humor scenes, I wasn't expecting or appreciating or the "cultural outsiders" to laugh so hard that I could not even hear the lines.

This movie is a cultural mark. While commercially wide-released in North America as an Invitation for our fellow "earth-er" to have a taste of this, relatively, extreme representation of fraction of our ubiquitous life, WE REQUEST THE RESPECT WE DESERVE for what's our own, the emotions through the native Mando Chinese lineage.

If you cannot identify as any of the character in the movie, don't read Chinese, don't have Mandarin-listening skills, or don't have a mediocre or even preliminary understanding of Mando Chinese cultural, please be a respectful spectator, just sit back and let the experience sink in. Don't try to laugh with the crowd, since one, it might not be funny before the line got translated into English subtitles, two, most of your crowd probably was already not "behaving", and three, you probably will look like a jerk or imbecile while all the native Chinese viewers sitting by you are tearing up so hard and they want to hear all the lines that were inaudible because of the nonsense laughter all around. It's a Suspense Dramedy, not a simple Comedy for you to slum :).

The Good Fight: Day 443
(2018)
Episode 6, Season 2

Tokenizing inconsistency and a re-imagine is white-Black binary
Once Bozeman and Diane walked into the conference room before the opening score with the eventual East Asian token appearing at the end, I suddenly realized: if this show is trying to depict the real life Chicago, is it trying to show the racial ceiling of the industry of the city or just simply forgot that East Asian population is one of the biggest part of the demographic in the industry.........

Should I call this ignorance, lack of observation of real life, conspiracy to engender ideal for white-black binary, microaggression or super "naked" discrimination!!!!

The Good Wife: Mind's Eye
(2015)
Episode 14, Season 6

One of the Best Episodes
This episode should be nominated as the best drama episode next Emmy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The concentration's terrific. The music and the music edition's perfection. The review of the family, the collaboration of work, election, family, love and ethic make the episode a long but exquisite journey but in 42mins. It seems something we can only get from a film, and all the speculation flavoured by the judgements made the piece alive.

And the "goodbye will" made. who knows how many, people cry.

it's almost the end, and the beginning as well.

The new love's budding and it's the time to say farewell.

Now she's not the subordinate having scandal with the boss. She's the boss now. And let's take Effman!

One Child
(2014)

A comment about the biases.
It's a typical portrayal of sensationalism.

Since there were no scene shot within the realm of Mainland China, lots of ideologies presented no matter during the main narration or through all the sceneries are from little to utterly biased.

And even worse, the title of the TV, which is misused and clearly a misnomer, conveyed the ideology and stereotype which is intentionally shaming the government of China and can raise unnecessary debate and discussion of the inhumanity of the certain policies.

People who watched this or are expecting to watch it should do some research about the notorious "one-child" and ask around the real meaning if you can access a real native Chinese who's not oppinionated.

Shades everywhere, all I can say now.
