Labyrinth
(1986)

I have lost my ability to even.
This is an utterly enchanting tale that I have cherished for years. With a fantastic story, beautiful visuals, stunning acting and unforgettable music, Labyrinth has received a spot on my all time favorite movies list. Labyrinth, a horribly underrated film, has held a special place in my heart since I was a child, and I have never met a person that has seen Labyrinth that hasn't thought it to be absolutely flawless. Sarah, the epitome of teen angst, is being prowled upon by David Bowie in super tight pants after banishing her baby brother to a land of goblins. I can think of very few things that are more interesting than that. Bowie delivers a fabulous performance, creating a gloriously sensual antagonistic character(though, somewhat pedophile), and Jennifer Connelly, one of the prettiest ladies in Hollywood, reminds us all of how bratty we were during our teenage years. In short, Jim Henson, George Lucas, David Bowie, Jennifer Connelly. There you go.

It
(1990)

My favorite horror spectacle.
I first saw IT when I was 7 or so, and absolutely fell in love. Never before had I seen a horror film that was so... well, horrifying! Most horror is based on blood, guts and gore, but IT is something truly special. It harnesses the psychological aspect, and makes you fear, not only being brutally murdered by a potentially pedophile clown, but also to fear looking in the mirror at your reflection. It makes you think twice about opening your eyes when you hear a noise in the dark.

Pennywise, one of the most gruesome and terrifying characters ever dreamed up, uses terror as a weapon, and feeds off of the fear of his victims. This is a beautiful concept, when compared to an average horror film, which mainly uses jump scares and large knives to induce fear in its characters and viewers. IT the film adaptation has quite a few bits about it that are unmistakably different from the book, but that, for me at least, did not make the film any less enjoyable. I truly love this side of King, where it's a fear of the unnatural and the ambiguity of the mere concept of terror. If you haven't read the massive book, and enjoyed the film, I do highly recommend dedicating a solid chunk of your life to reading it. No other film is quite like IT.

Deep Blue Sea
(1999)

No other like it.
I first saw Deep Blue Sea when I was about 6 years old, and I was completely captivated. I loved sharks, and I loved movies, so sharks in a movie was just the bomb-diggity. For some reason, this mediocre movie has stuck in my head over these past years, coming up in my mind rather often. It's not even that I necessarily payed attention to the story all that much, I mean, I know that there are sharks with mombo sized brains, and they're out to kill the scientists that made them that way, and the one b*tchy scientist lady won't let the guys kill the sharks. I just thought that that was awesome. Deep Blue Sea really is just mindless shark action and a chick in her underwear, with a splash of a great story line. There really is so much potential for such an interesting story, but it was downgraded by the massive amount of unnecessary violence. I, personally, have a great fondness for this film, though I have not seen it since I was 6, so don't hate me if it sucks a lot more than I am leading you to believe. It really is a movie that you should take the time to watch at some point in your life.

The High Fructose Adventures of Annoying Orange
(2012)

Most terrible thing I have ever seen.
If I had the option of rating this less than a 1, you bet your fur I would in a heartbeat. Good God, what in the name of Christ is this? The entirety of this "cartoon" is idiotic fruit and a YouTuber being terrible role models and giving kids bad ideas. And we wonder why children these days are so dumb! This show is an outrage. It's spitting in the eye of educated viewing. This is one of the many offenders participating in the genocide of young minds. I feel so sorry for the children that are exposed to this crap... Where did the good shows go? Where did the Beetlejuice cartoon, with excellent morals and witty comedy, run off to? Oh, that's right... It was cancelled! Mature kids shows have been killed off and replaced with this mindless poppycock that is tainting the mental capacity of modern children, leaving them as bumbling husks of idiocy. Children's shows can be educational and fun, you know.... Not even educational! If they are simply NOT the dumbest thing ever to curse the Earth, then they're in good shape! In addition to its stunning stupidity and painfully bad animation, this show has as much originality as an infinity symbol tattoo. Veggie Tales + Spongebob + crack = The High Fructose Adventures of Annoying Orange. I am sickened. Simply knowing that this is considered acceptable entertainment makes me fear for the future of today's children, and their children, and their children's children. This show made me hate things. Congratulations, everyone. Originality is officially dead.

My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic
(2010)

I have never been happier.
Some people say that it's stupid for someone to be watching My Little Pony above the age of 8, but I beg to differ. MLP has lead me to feel a lot more confident in myself and the friends I have. It's a great show with great values and some of the best songs you'll ever hear. It's sweet, smart, and displays strong female role models for kids, teens and adults to look up to. I love this show, and I feel no shame for saying it. This is a show that every person, children in particular, should be exposed to in order to develop respect for their environment, their friends, family, female kind, and themselves. Other than that, the animation in cute and colorful and displays the quirky and very different characters beautifully. This show has made me a more positive and enjoyable person in general. I now know what friendship really is and how much it means to me.

The Room
(2003)

This movie is tearing me apart!
I gave this film a pretty generous rating. The only reason I gave it something above a 1 is because I couldn't stop laughing the whole entire time. A messily scripted and poorly acted display of irritating accents and painfully awkward sex scenes, The Room is pretty much only good for a laugh. I mean that in the nicest way possible. No. Not really. After watching this film, I am left unsatisfied with the pretty much nonexistent plot and disturbing amount of goofs involved in it. Specifically, the flower shop scene. It is as if the actors only had 45 seconds to film the scene, and they had never looked at their lines and just read over them a couple of times before rushing on set. There are so many things wrong with this movie, including but not limited too the amount of times that Johnny says "Hi" to any given person, particularly Mark, and the awkward laugh that Johnny seems to force from his throat at the strangest times, including just before one of those terrible sex scenes. Despite my bad review, I would not say that my time spent watching The Room was wasted. I recommend this film in the highest regard. It's so bad that it's good! It is fantastic for having a night getting drunk with your friends, or to get one of your emotional friends to smile after a breakup. Enjoy this terribly wonderful film.

Clerks
(1994)

One of the best movies I have ever seen
Clerks. I have nothing but positive things to say about this film. Kevin Smith displayed a fantastically written movie that shows the viewer that their life doesn't suck so badly compared to Dante's. I could not stop laughing the whole time I was enjoying this film. I could watch it over and over and never get tired of it. With a cast that perfectly portrays a plucky and real cast of characters, and some of the most memorable pieces of dialogue I can think of, Smith has given a fantastic gift to the world of realistic, if not somewhat pessimistic, comedy. This is a film that everyone deserves to enjoy before they die. A film built out of dialogue that keeps you in a perpetual state of thought, all while laughing your hat off.

Beetlejuice
(1989)

My favorite show... EVER.
This show is so great. It possesses childish humor that is sophisticated enough to still be appealing to older children, teens and adults. Great vocabulary and puns make this show even better. The dynamic duo of Beetlejuice and Lydia Deetz is fantastic, they have this chemistry that can only be achieved between best friends. With good values being taught through the conflicts in each episode, this is a show fit for all ages. The wildly obnoxious Beetlejuice and the adventurous and sarcastic Lydia explore through the Neitherworld as partners in crime. I love this duo, and their adventures in each and every episode. This is a show fit for any Burton fan that still is a bit of a kid at heart.

Beetlejuice
(1988)

Tim Burton is a genius.
Fantastic! Excellent! Perfect! Beeteljuice, both as a movie and a character are flawless and well developed. This film is another shining achievement of Tim Burton's, and is an easily watched and easily followed story. I can't think of a single thing that is wrong with this film. The use of Burton's regular actors(Catherine O'Hara, Winona Ryder, Michael Keaton, Glenn Shadix) as well as the others create a perfect cast for this cult classic film. Excellent makeup, costumes, and other visuals(including the model of Winter River, Connecticut) add to the appeal of this already highly interesting film. No other film is like this one, and no other film will EVER be like it. Genius like this film can be mastered by few people in our age of remakes, but Burton is surely an artist of the film industry. Bravo, Burton, bravo.

The Nightmare Before Christmas
(1993)

Visual Perfection.
This movie is an all around masterpiece. Burton expresses his wild and beautiful imagination in this vivid and expertly crafted stop motion musical based off of an original poem he wrote. It has been my favorite movie for as long as I can remember, and it's very easy to watch over and over again. It's a wonderful and heartfelt story of discovering one's destiny, and fulfilling dreams. The single most amazing film I have ever seen.

I recommend this film to anyone who easily accepts artistic viewing material, and is up for the dark implications of the setting and characters. A fantastic film that is good for any circumstances, whether the viewers be having a date night, sleepover, family movie night, party, or any other setting.
