Animal
(2023)

wasted opportunity
It was the most non-sensical movie ever made. Playing to the gallery, has nothing good going there. Even Tripti Dimri looks wasted (it takes a lot to make her eye sore and shallow, director has succeeded in doing that).

The trailer was built so well, I was really going for it. Acting wise Anil Kapoor takes the cake, ranbir is awesome thats all about it.

The movie script was for sure written in upper case, its tonal loud. There's no cops here, its very convenient story (everything happens according to the whims of ranbir kapoor).

The movie easily could have been an hour less (or less than 120 minutes) it would have been supremely tight actioner.

Yes this movie will make money, as if that's the only thing that matters.

Saw Ranbir's Tamasha for the umpteenth time this weekend, he has so much range, versatility. So much going for him, why did he choose such a dumb movie (no matter how big a hit they will shout and tell everyone it is). You are an amazing actor, but you are as good as the work you choose, choose wisely.

Just loved it
I expected Closer, found it much more nuanced and very well made. Love the way Shakun Batra (and of course the editor of the movie) ups the drama from all direction (it was amazing in kapoor and sons) and this was way too good.

Deepika is awesome, highly recommended for people who loves quality cinema.

One suggestion for Shakun Batra's next (play with the time as well and the multiple cuts which Chris Nolan does), that will amp up the drama more.

99 Songs

Sounds great and visually pleasing
The actors were great and the art direction/music were amazing. I would have loved to watch this in theater just for the sound(which i always do to a Rahman movie). I still have goosebumps when bombay movie opening credits roll and the background score for that.

I wish someone edits another 20 minutes of this movie, it would be great (visually stunning and sounds amazing).

I liked the movie, but was disappointed by repetitions. I wish you let the viewers be that smart to link the story (you don't have to leave repetitious visual cues, is that a composer move (leaving audio clues to come back to)).

Here's my so many gripes with the movie 1. The child actor has the same clothes on for at least 5-6 scenes. Detailing on providing depth to characters (it all fell flat) 2. The green screen shot of only rehab bed (clear frame but void, there were multiple such shots). Somehow it was visually stunning but void. Hard to explain.

3. The politician link at the end (why on earth and what on earth was that) 4. Every one was showing off (cinematographer, art direction, musician), could have easily reined in with additional 20 mins cuts. Maybe you all sat with tons of nice visuals.

5. The movie ended with AR Rahman poster (typical producer move) 6. You can only mention AR Rahman once / twice in credit rolls not 15 times.

7. The running scene was twice/thrice, and so were a shot of the house with the clouds behind it and many more repetitious things.

8. The girls dad voice was repeated multiple times about 99 songs (believe me that's like someone writing on ALL CAPS LETTER)

Yes even my writing here is repetitious that is intentional.

Sushant ........
I just saw sushant writ large on the movie and just loved the character. I don't know about others, i have met real sushant's in life. It was so real, fleshed out character, kudo's to the writing team and the actor to play that to the T. Actually one of our renters was 100% match to sushant. The moment i saw that, it reminded me of him.

I love the subtle ways artist put their dissent against populism. Yes the demonetisation was lapped up so much by the citizens of india, but now after so many years, (it still is the same). So on hindsight everyone can see it was a lame decision, but no one dares speak about it.

I loved the movie for what it was. The actors, settings, the pace everything was good. Well i am still in awe of Anurag's 'Ugly' and 'Gow 1 & 2' and 'Raghav Raman'(just wanted to put that out)

Why make such a movie?
This is one of the worst movie ever made. I fail to understand why make such a movie. It's such a waste of time and money.
