The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
(2013)

I liked it
I really liked this movie, it captured me in every way. The main things that made this movie good was the work of the actors and suspense of the story. Like the characters in the movie, the audience does not know what happens next, what comes out from behind the next corner. Even though it was a sci-fi movie, actors made me believe all situations they were in, their reactions and emotions were believable. The visual side was good as well, but without the work of the actors it would not have held up the movie. I watched at the same week Gravity with George Clooney and Sandra Bullock, also a visually stunning sci-fi film. But in the last one the work of the actors did not support the great visuals, I think Jennifer Laurence and his co-star (who played Peeta) would have done a better job in this make-believe sci-fi situation. Catching fire is definitely worth of watching.

Body of Evidence
(1992)

Madonna is good at acting!
Hei, I gave 6 because the script was not that great, as a thriller it could have had a better suspense. But the acting work and directing was on the level. There is nothing wrong with Madonnas acting in this film. And she looks great too. It is a typical "erotic thriller" and not of the worst kind at all. It is just an average representative of the genre and as such, on a stronger side. The script has large plot holes like most erotic thrillers but most of the people watch it to see Madonna and men watch it for Madonna getting her clothes off, isn't it. I think Madonna and her lawyer had a good on-screen chemistry and it was a fully valid chill-out film to watch. This review is written by a heterosexual woman. I do not fancy Madonna, but I like her persona and her acting and I think she was good in this film.

Who's That Girl
(1987)

A great comedy!
I do not understand why this comedy got such bad reviews when it got out. I assume the critics simply did not get the humour of this movie. I think it is such a sweet and funny comedy. I first saw it when I was very sad, totally down and this comedy cheered me up, it made my day. And even now I watch it now and then when I feel sad and this movie makes me happy again. Madonna is so funny in this film and portraying the grazy-but-lovable Nikki so well. And the other cast is good as well. I cannot really find anything wrong with this comedy except the fact that people cannot stand that Madonna can do many things well, including acting. Don't listen to the critics, watch the movie and enjoy!

One of My Wives Is Missing
(1976)

A great thriller!
They don't make movies like this anymore! And that is a shame! A good old, well written, well acted, well directed full-blooded murder mystery thriller! With no gore, no special effects, based purely on a good script, good acting and good directing. My favorite! I hate all these modern action thriller, spy thrillers, blood-everywhere thrillers. I love old-fashioned suspense thrillers and this is an excellent example of them. You will be on the edge of the seat until the end, worried to death about the main character, wanting to jump on the screen to help him and not knowing who is really who and what they are playing at. You will not guess it until the very end - I promise you wont. The thrill is 100% psychological. Get some popcorn or a bottle of wine, put your feet up and enjoy!

Invisible Child
(1999)

What was the point?
This is an odd movie. It is touching, yes, but what is the point or message of this storyline? I do not mind an odd movie or unusual theme, if it carries a message and if I feel that the movie-makers know what they want to say. I do not blame actors here - they are doing a good job, especially the girl who plays the nanny. Also the child welfare inspector, portraying convincingly a nasty bureaucrat. I am asking from the scriptwriter and the director - what is the point of this film? That we all should have invisible children? Or how sad it is that the invisible child dies? Also, is it possible in reality for a person interacting with a physically non-existent person for such a long time? This film was touching in many ways, I liked the nanny and the older child, Rebecca, but it did not convince me.

Plain Truth
(2004)

Interesting movie
I liked the overall look of this film and also the work of the actors. Escpecially the main characters, Amish girl and her lawyer do a good job, I like the closeup shots of their eyes and faces, those are wonderful, to portray emotions and expressions in their eyes in such a way is really good. The problem of this movie is that it is trying to be a thriller and an psychological movie at the same time. It could have chosen one or the other, that would have made it more intense. I think a murder mystery thriller in the Amish environment would have been a mighty good idea. Or then full-time psychological drama, the clash of Amish world and regular Western world through personal drama of one person. At the moment this hoovering on the border of both genres makes the movie weaker. In spite of this, overall it was an interesting movie, and the actors did a really good job.
