Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson
(2008)

Life of the Father Of Gonzo Jouranlism!
No holds barred documentary covering the bizarre life of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson - the father of Gonzo journalism.

This film covers all his classic moments:Hell's Angels, Race for Sheriff of Aspen, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and on the Campaign Trail; Muhammad Ali vs. George Foreman, George McGovern, Jimmy Carter, etc. The articles he wrote over several decades for Rolling Stone Magazine are given heavy perspective and no one represented the voice of the turbulent 60's and 70's like Hunter aka Raoul Drake.

Great soundtrack, clips & guest from Johnny Depp to Jimmy Buffett. The loss of a great voice we could really use today!

Mad Money

Bad Money
Bloody awful! A career low-light for Diane Keaton - what was she doing in this?

I understand there are not enough solid roles available for "serious" actresses - but this poorly written and even worse acted heist comedy should have been avoided at all costs by any top actresses - especially former Oscar Winners!

I typically enjoy heist movies - dramatic or comic - but this film was so weakly plotted it took all the fun out of it. The only thing worth while was the impetus for the heist - the current woeful economy we are all suffering through.

That being said - don't throw away your precious dollars to rent this one. If you need a comic heist lift - pick up Woody Allen's classic, "Take the Money and Run". That one ALWAYS delivers!

Two Tickets to Paradise
(2006)

Mid-Life Crisis Meets Buddy Road Trip Tale
D.B. Sweeney Co-Wrote, Produced, Directed and Co-Stars in this film about three lifelong friends from PA who are rapidly approaching the mid-life crisis portion of their lives. They are all looking to "run away" from something and take advantage of the 2 tickets one of them wins to a College Bowl game in FL.

Duirng the road trip they come to many realizations about life, themselves and attempt to find a way to come to grips with their past mistakes and reinvent their futures. Although there are some outrageous moments thrown in along the road trip this film has true heart at its' core and any 30+ male will truly be able to relate to the 3 lead characters and their plight.

Kudos to D.B. for making this film out of his own pocket!

The Anti-Twilight
This is not only the best horror film of 2008 but one of the most original vampire films I've ever seen.

With movies like "Twilight" weakening the vampire myth I was thankful that this terrific Swedish film truly showed what life as a young vampire would be like. The acting is superb, the plot keeps you entranced and the cinematography & images are so memorable you will not soon forget the experience of watching this film.

I hope Hollywood doesn't drop the ball when they attempt an "Americanization" of this in a few years (the rights were already sold for a Hollywood version). Go out of your way to catch this version - it will please any fans of the horror/thriller genre.

Outstanding!
