Ghost in a Teeny Bikini
(2006)

Not Quite "The Ghost In The Invisible Bikini"
Movie director Fred Olen Ray did it again, with another one of his classic bikini movies. "Ghost In A Teeny Bikini" starts out with Muffin Baker (Christine Nguyen) and some guy, having simulated sex on the set of a cheesy sci-fi movie. However, it's soon revealed that it's the set of a movie within the movie. Muffin gets a telegram (who sends those anymore?) informing her that her rich Uncle Silas has died. Muffin, and her movie director boyfriend Ted Wood, Jr. (Alexandre Boisvert), travel to Silas' mansion, for the reading of his will. My favorite scene involves the daughter of scheming lawyer Archibald Weisenheimer (Brad Bartram), the gorgeous Evilyn (Rebecca Love), seducing Ted Wood. Super-stacked Rebecca is a fiery redhead, whose simulated sex scene with Ted is hotter than the fireplace they're in front of! The love scene between Muffin Baker and Tabitha the Ghost (Nicole Sheridan) is another highlight in this movie. On the other hand, in the scenes when Marsh (Evan Stone) and Muffin Baker sing, you might want to hit the fast forward button. As a spoof of "The Ghost In The Invisible Bikini," this movie does quite well.

Beneath the Valley of the Ultra-Vixens
(1979)

Beneath The Valley And Over The Top
This 1979 movie was co-written, produced, and directed by Russ Meyer. Stuart Lancaster, credited as the Man from Small Town U.S.A., is the on-camera narrator of the movie. Early in the movie, Candy Samples appears briefly as the Very Big Blonde. Like everything else in this movie, she's larger than life. Lamar Shedd (Ken Kerr) can't satisfy his wife Lavonia (Kitten Natividad), because he can only climax in an unconventional way. Lavonia, with the aid of a wig and a Mexican accent, becomes a sexy stripper named Lola Langusta. Lola proceeds to bed down men with more standard sexual tastes. Lamar is put through a series of cures, culminating with the laying on of hands by a radio faith-healer named Sister Eufaula Roop, played by the super-stacked Anne Marie (67-25-36). Near the end of the movie, Uschi Digard has a cameo as SuperSoul. Russ Meyer himself appears at the end of the film to wrap up the movie. 1972 was a watershed year for adult movies, with the release of "Deep Throat" and "Behind The Green Door." Even though this was the most graphic of Russ Meyer's movies, it seemed tame by comparison. At the end of this movie, it says to look for the further adventures of Lola Langusta in "The Jaws Of Vixen." Unfortunately, that movie was never made. "Beneath The Valley Of The Ultra-Vixens" was the last of Russ Meyer's theatrical feature films. The Russ Meyer "Pandora Peaks" documentary was a direct-to-video release in 2001. Sadly, Russ Meyer died on September 18, 2004.

Up!
(1976)

If You Don't See "Up!" You'll Feel Down
This 1976 movie was co-written, produced, and directed by Russ Meyer. It's the middle of Meyer's masterpieces, preceded by "SuperVixens" (1975), and followed by "Beneath The Valley Of The Ultra-Vixens" (1979). The movie starts with Adolph Schwartz (Edward Schaaf), an old German guy who looks like Adolph Hitler, being killed, when a hungry piranha is dropped into his bathtub. Early in the action, the legendary Candy Samples briefly appears as the Headsperson. Later, the breathtakingly beautiful Margo Winchester (Raven De La Croix) hitch-hikes into town, gets a job at the local diner, and becomes romantically involved with the sheriff. Since Charles Napier had moved on to mainstream movies, Sheriff Homer Johnson is played by Monte Bane. To help keep track of the plot, we have the Greek Chorus, in the form of a naked Kitten Natividad. However, it's not Kitten's voice doing the narration. Near the end of the movie, Margo discovers who the murderer is. However, that's not as important as one would think, since this movie is not a whodunit, but a who did who!

Cherry, Harry & Raquel!
(1969)

The Toys Of Our Time
This movie was co-written, produced, and directed by the legendary Russ Meyer. Harry (Charles Napier) is a small town sheriff. He lives with his girlfriend Cherry (Linda Ashton), who works as a nurse. Harry's associate Enrique (Bert Santos) is sleeping with his girlfriend Raquel (Larissa Ely), who works as a prostitute. Harry and Enrique are in the employ of the old, corrupt Mr. Franklin (Frank Bolger). They illegally divert marijuana over the border, and split the profits. Mr. Franklin informs Harry that another associate named Apache (John Milo) has gone into business for himself, and must be killed. Apache avoids the ambush Harry and Enrique had set up for him. Later, Apache steals Harry's jeep, then runs over and kills Enrique. When Raquel arrives at the hospital where Mr. Franklin is staying to sexually service him, she finds that he has been killed by Apache. Raquel stays in the hospital, recovering from the shock of finding Mr. Franklin dead. Her nurse Cherry takes care of her, which includes having sex with her. Harry: "I don't like women messing around with women. It's un-American." Uschi Digard, as a supporting character named Soul, runs around naked in various settings, without advancing the plot. Looking at Uschi when she was in her prime is worth the price of the movie. As for the movie's characters, the narrator accurately states that they're "superficial in their makeup, but so necessary to our way of life."

Mrs. Stone's Thing
(1970)

I Can't Unwatch This
I only bought this movie because the late, great Ed Wood appears in it. There's lots of nudity and simulated sex in this softcore movie. George Stone (Victor Rich) is a middle-aged business executive who goes to swinging parties. His wife Martha (Karen Johnson) wants George to take her to one of those orgies/parties. To give you an idea of how good their acting is, this is the only movie that Victor Rich and Karen Johnson ever appeared in. About half an hour into the film, at the party, an obviously drunk Ed Wood is in a bedroom with a parrot. Ed starts taking off his clothes, and starts putting on pantyhose, then a bra. The movie keeps cutting back and forth between Ed and the party, so the viewer won't have to take in that sight all at once. At one point, a woman walks in, looks astonished, then walks out. Later, a man walks in, and Ed looks ashamed to be wearing a bra and pantyhose. The man tells him that it's all right, he looks nice, and to keep putting on women's clothing. "I'm game for anything, after all that booze," Ed blurts out. Whatever they paid Ed to appear in this movie wasn't enough. Looking drunk, disoriented, disheveled, pale and bloated, Ed the transvestite was a very sorry sight to see. As for Mr. and Mrs. Stone, they learned the error of their ways. At the end of the movie, they decide to stop going to swinging parties, and start a family. Thankfully, there was no sequel to "The Sensuous Wife" called "The Sensuous Mother."

The Candy Store
(1972)

The Candy Store Is Closed For Renovations
In this hardcore adult movie, a younger Candy Samples appears as a brunette. She is a whorehouse Madame who gets personally involved with some of the clients. Other than the usual carnal encounters, dramatic tension is created in two scenes. Rosita Martinez (Jill Sweete) is a virgin who is reluctant to work at the whorehouse. Rosita's first client and Candy have to help her break into the business. Later, the landlord comes in and demands that month's rent. Candy convinces him to take it out in trade. In addition to the usual background music, this movie includes muzak versions of "Classical Gas," "MacArthur Park," and "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head." Groovy! Adult movies like this played exclusively in places called grindhouse theaters. The video quality of this film looks like it was put through a grinder. I gave this movie two stars, partly because of its rarity, but mostly because of the presence of Candy Samples. Without her, this would be a one star movie at best.

Strippers from Another World
(2013)

E.T. And G-Strings!
Blonde bombshell Bunny (Christie Stevens) is the snooty president of Gamma Phi, the sexiest sorority on campus. Her best friend Heidi (Sophia Bella) is her sensuous sorority sister. Early on in the movie, Bunny and Heidi have a close encounter of the physical kind. As a goof, Bunny asks nerdy Marge (Erika Jordan), and bookworm Anita (Krissy Lynn), to pledge their sorority. In order to join, they must get hired as strippers at the Candy Cat strip club. The club owner turns them down flat. Marge and Anita wish on what they think is a falling star for help. It turns out to be an interplanetary spaceship. Before they know what's happening, Marge and Anita get beamed aboard the spaceship. In order to get an extraterrestrial makeover, they have to make love to each other, which they gladly do. As Anita says, "Well Marge, it looks like lots of wishes are going to come true today!" They are turned into super-sexy babes, are beamed back to Earth, and get hired as super-sexy strippers. Speaking of strippers, Tasha Reign plays a drop dead gorgeous stripper. Unfortunately, she only appears briefly in the movie. Later, still hoping to get into the Gamma Phi sorority, Anita and Heidi have a carnal encounter. I won't spoil the ending, but Bunny gets what she deserves, while everyone else (presumably) lives happily ever after.

The Nutty Professor
(1963)

One Nutty Movie!,
In 1963, Jerry Lewis co-wrote, directed, and starred in "The Nutty Professor." Fifty years later, the humor in this movie remains as fresh and as relevant as ever. Among the bonus features is an interview with Jerry, who explained his take on the "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" story. Robert Louis Stevenson wrote about the good and evil that exists in all people. Jerry's story split his main character's personality into, to quote him, "funny and not funny." Trust me, Jerry Lewis knows what's funny! Jerry also clarified that Buddy Love was an amalgam of all the rude, obnoxious people he's observed in his life. In no way was the Buddy Love character based on Dean Martin. Speaking of characters, Professor Julius Kelp is the quintessential nerd, brilliant in his understanding of chemistry, but clueless in relating to people. Stella Stevens as Stella Purdy is not only sexy and beautiful, she's not overshadowed in her scenes with Jerry, which is no easy task. Del Moore (1916-1970) is great as the frustrated Dean Mortimer Warfield. His scene reciting lines from Hamlet is hilarious. Kathleen Freeman (1919-2001) turns in another solid performance as the dean's secretary, Millie Lemmon. It's no wonder that she was in so many Jerry Lewis movies. Howard Morris (1919-2005) is perfect in his brief scenes as Julius' father Elmer Kelp. From the explosive opening, to the heartfelt conclusion, "The Nutty Professor" is a comedic masterpiece.

Pandora Peaks
(2002)

Pandora Peaks At Her Peak!
This documentary was written, produced, and directed by Russ Meyer (1922-2004). Filmed over a period of time in the early nineties, it was released in 2001, when Pandora Peaks was at the peak of her popularity. This turned out to be the final film of Russ Meyer, who was admittedly past his prime when this was made. There is no storyline, but there is narration provided by Mr. Meyer himself. The footage of Pandora, who is breathtakingly beautiful, is well worth the price of the DVD. Considering how few films she appeared in before retiring, this much footage of Pandora is a rarity. As if that weren't enough, this documentary also includes footage of the legendary Candy Samples. Forget the deeper meaning displayed in Russ Meyer's earlier classic films, and enjoy the eye candy on display in this documentary.

A Taste of Candy
(1985)

Candy Tastes Delicious!
In this adult movie, blonde bombshell Candy Samples plays a widow named Mrs. Tulley. Her niece Myla (Summer Rose) tries to comfort her as best she can, but Mrs. Tulley still needs a man. Since this movie takes place before the Internet and it's various dating websites, Jennifer (Rikki Blake) suggests to Mrs. Tulley that she place an ad in the Personal Ads section of the local newspaper. She does so, and gets dozens of replies. Blake Darlington (Herschel Savage), Candy's co-star from "Inside Candy Samples" (1984), comes knocking at her door, in response to her ad. Suffice to say, Mrs. Tulley and Blake hit it off right away. This adult movie is a great example of Candy Samples in her prime. It's easy to see why Candy has achieved legendary status in the adult entertainment industry.

The Amorous Adventures of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza
(1976)

Adventures From The Golden Age Of Adult Movies
This adult movie is a costume period piece, with solid production values. In addition, it was filmed on location in Spain. Corey John Fisher, who starred as Don Quixote, played the part well. Hy Pyke, who looks like he could be related to Ron Jeremy, provided excellent comic relief as Sancho Panza. His scenes were more amusing than arousing. The buxom beauties appearing in this movie included Haji as Cybel, Maria Arnold as Roxana, and Candy Samples as a pepper-picking woman. The movie even included musical numbers, with suggestive lyrics too adult to be played on the radio. I can't classify the film as a musical, but it had a well-defined plot. It's too bad they don't make adult films like this anymore!

Love Boccaccio Style
(1971)

Ribald Revelry
This adult video is a costume period piece, with solid production values. It is very loosely based on Boccaccio's Decameron. The Decameron is "a 14th-century medieval allegory by Giovanni Boccaccio (1313-1375), told as a frame story, encompassing 10 tales told by 10 young people over the course of 10 days, for a total of 100 tales. The various tales of love in the Decameron range from the erotic to the tragic." The erotic tales enacted in this movie are more amusing than arousing. The first tale involves a middle-aged merchant, his young wife (Patti Lee), a chastity belt, and a randy locksmith. The tale is clever, but Patti Lee is not very attractive. The second tale features blonde beauty Marsha Jordan, who is unfaithful to her husband with his best friend. To even the score, her husband has (simulated) sex with his best friend's wife. The third tale features John Holmes, pretending to be a deaf mute, deflowering virgins at the local convent school. His actions come to the attention of the Head Nun, played by blonde bombshell Candy Samples. She makes him her personal sex slave! In the fourth and final tale, Holly Woodstar is caught fooling around on her husband, who takes her to court for infidelity. Instead of the judge (William Kirshner) sentencing her to burn at the stake, which was customary at the time, he orders her back to his chambers. Let's just say that they work things out, and she lives to love another day.

Inside Candy Samples
(1985)

Candy Is Dandy!
In this adult movie, blonde bombshell Candy Samples plays Dr. Candy Cox, a famous sex therapist with a very heavy caseload. Men and women alike come to her office for advice and, hopefully, some hands-on help. When Rob (Herschel Savage) walks into her office, Candy quickly diagnoses why his wife Vicki (Jessica Wylde) has an insatiable sexual appetite, and what he must do to satisfy her. (Hint: It's quality, not quantity). While they're in a private session, Dr. Cox's assistant/receptionist Loretta (Heather Wayne) takes personal care of Vicki (Jessica Wylde). To top it all off, Loretta's girlfriend Cecily (Treanna) comes by and joins Loretta and Vicki for some three-way action! This adult movie is a great example of Candy Samples in her prime. It's easy to see why Candy has achieved legendary status in the adult entertainment industry.

Stacked Racks from Mars
(2014)

This Movie Stacks Up Well
Extraterrestrial blonde bombshell Isis (Christie Stevens), and alluring alien Vala (Erika Jordan), are a sight to behold in their skin-tight, gold latex spacesuits. Their close encounter with each other on the spaceship, which takes place early on, is the best scene in the movie. After they send down a device from their spaceship, Isis is able to take over the body of Stephanie (Sophia Bella), and Vala is able to take over the body of Veronica (Beverly Lynne). The rest of the movie involves various couples coupling, with no regard for being faithful to their spouses. The climactic scene involves Jim (Alexandre Boisvert), and Mike (Seth Gamble), getting it on with Isis and Vala. Vala sums it up best. "It seems that the Earthlings' greatest weakness is an absolute obsession with sex." And yet, Isis and Vala decide not to conquer our planet. They disappear, probably to return to Mars, or at least fly around the universe, enriched with the experience of making love Earth style.

Up Your Teddy Bear
(1970)

Catwoman And King Tut Meet Underdog!
Take the Monkees' movie "Head" (1968), "The Love God?" (1969) with Don Knotts, and Russ Meyer's "Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls" (1970), and put them in a blender. The resulting concoction would resemble "Up Your Teddy Bear" (a/k/a/ "The Seduction Of A Nerd.") Wally Cox stars as Clyde King, a toy designer who lives in a house filled with toys. He also likes to follow beautiful women as they're walking down the street. Mother (Julie Newmar) desperately wants him to work for her toy company. Her morbidly obese son Lyle "Skippy" Ferns (Victor Buono) gets the brilliant idea of having beautiful women seduce Clyde, which would persuade him to go to work for the Mother Knows Best Toy Company. Because Clyde has a Mother fixation, he can't bring himself to work for her company, no matter how beautiful the women tempting him are, including Angelique Pettyjohn. The groovy music for this movie was supplied by the legendary Quincy Jones. Wally Cox's dancing scene at a nightclub was hilarious. The scenes in which Wally was singing were painful to listen to. Victor Buono's scene where he attempts to get into a small compact car was painfully unfunny. Victor's scene where he dressed up in drag as a hooker was strangely reminiscent of Divine in "Pink Flamingos" (1972), and was one of the highlights of this film. Julie Newmar, who didn't appear in the movie nearly enough to satisfy me, was stunningly beautiful. In one of the bonus features, Julie is interviewed, around 35 years after the movie was made. She has high praise for the film and her fellow actors. Not surprisingly, she still looks beautiful!

Bikini Drive-In
(1995)

The Citizen Kane Of Bikini Movies!
Fred Olen Ray's homage to the drive-in movie theaters of years gone by is his masterpiece. It boasts an all-star cast of B-movie babes with Ashlie Rhey playing the main character Kim Taylor, and Michelle Bauer playing Scream Queen Dyanne Lynn. Nikki Fritz's transformation from plain concession worker Susan, to bikini-clad beauty Susan, is amazing. Candy (Sharona Bonner), and Mandy (Tane McClure), are the bikini models hired to bring the customers into the drive-in. Candy's best scene is with the sheriff, when she's dressed and acting like a dominatrix. One of the best scenes in the whole movie is Mandy's car dance for some lucky drive-in patrons. If all remaining drive-ins offered car dances, drive-in theaters could make a big comeback! The uncensored and uncut version of this cult classic is definitely the one to buy. The Drive-In Intermission Spots, and Fred Olen Ray's Nite Owl Theater teasers, are short but sweet bonus features.

Plan 9 from Outer Space
(1957)

Ed Wood Saved The Universe
Ed Wood's masterpiece, made with a low budget and filmed under trying conditions, is the greatest movie in the history of mankind. Bela Lugosi (whose reanimated corpse grew a foot taller), Vampira and Tor Johnson comprised the zombie army that was going to march on the capitals of the world. The alien Leader (John "Bunny" Breckinridge) had Bela's reanimated corpse destroyed, in order to strike fear in the humans, as opposed to some world leaders, who would have called for more troops. In the world of Plan 9, such outdated concepts as day and night, the living and the dead, and original footage and stock footage, have no meaning. But I have yet to reveal the true greatness of this movie.

The alien Eros (Dudley Manlove) explains that his mission on Earth is to destroy us before we develop the Solaranite bomb. His metaphorical explanation of the Solaranite bomb is chilling. "Take a can of your gasoline. Say this can of gasoline is the sun. Now, you spread a thin line of it to a ball, representing the earth. Now, the gasoline represents the sunlight, the sun particles. Here we saturate the ball with the gasoline, the sunlight. Then we put a flame to the ball. The flame will speedily travel around the earth, back along the line of gasoline to the can, or the sun itself. It will explode this source and spread to every place that gasoline, our sunlight, touches. Explode the sunlight here, gentlemen, you explode the universe!" America, Russia and China were all working on developing a Solaranite bomb when this movie was released. All work on that was stopped, and all records were destroyed, shortly afterward. To quote Criswell, "Can you prove that it didn't happen?"

Lingerie Gallery, Vol. II
(1994)

More Masterpieces From The Gallery Lingerie
This 30-minute video, starring Ginger Lynn Allen in an R-rated romp, is the second volume in the series. In addition, Ginger narrates the proceedings in a very sexy voice. It features solid production values, and beautiful women. The first vignette is entitled "Make A Wish." To quote Ginger Lynn Allen, "You make my body melt with desire. I dance for you, I make a wish, my wish comes true." When a woman rubs Aladdin's Lamp, a beautiful harem girl (not Ginger Lynn Allen) dances around in various stages of undress. The second scene is called "A Kiss Is My Sword." A beautiful, topless female Zorro (not Ginger Lynn Allen) rescues a man held prisoner. The third vignette is entitled "Eyes Of The Beholder." Ginger Lynn Allen plays a beautiful wench, with a mysterious hooded man, in an erotic version of Beauty and the Beast. The fourth and final scene doesn't have a title. A woman (not Ginger Lynn Allen), dressed up like a Native American, dances around in various stages of undress, interspersed with various scenes of nature. I wish they would pair this with the 30-minute video, "Ginger Lynn Allen's Lingerie Gallery," and release it on DVD.

Beast of the Yellow Night
(1971)

Yellow Night Fever!
This DVD started out promisingly, with movie director Fred Olen Ray in his van at the Drive-In, talking about the essentials for enjoying the Drive-In experience. His girlfriend, the beautiful Miss Kim, emerged from the back seat, and REALLY started enjoying the popcorn she was eating! Then the feature film started. Filmed in the Philippines, the movie was a muddled mess. I kept looking for a yellow moon in the film to account for the movie's title, but I never saw it. The late John Ashley did a credible job of playing the main character Joseph Langdon, alias Philip Rogers. As for his acting career, it was a really long road for John from Bikini Beach, with Frankie and Annette, to the Philippines, with Vic Diaz playing Satan. Despite its shortcomings, the movie didn't commit the unforgivable sin of being boring. In addition, I found a bit of dialog, spoken by John Ashley's character, to be quite profound. "There's no such thing as a dead end. You can always get out the way you came." As you go through life, that's certainly something to keep in mind. There's nothing like a great movie, and this was nothing like a great movie!

Lipstick Girls
(1997)

I Love Those Lipstick Ladies!,
In this Penthouse video, a tube of lipstick is passed from one beautiful woman to the next. Every time a woman puts on the lipstick, an amorous liaison occurs. The first scene, entitled "The Full Treatment," takes place in a beauty salon, with Tammy Parks, another blonde bombshell, and a beautiful brunette. When they're finished with their intimate threesome, the blonde gives Tammy her lipstick. Tammy gets on an elevator with a guy, and applies the lipstick. The elevator gets stuck and they experience, to quote Aerosmith, "love in an elevator." When they're finished and the elevator works again, Tammy goes to her apartment. She gives the lipstick to her female roommate, and the two of them get up close and personal. The roommate takes the lipstick and goes to a nightclub. She gives the lipstick to a hat check girl, who applies it to her lips. The two of them go in the back room for a lesbian love scene. The last two scenes involve two different lipstick ladies with men. I bought this video because I'm a big fan of Tammy Parks. Other than her, I can't identify which woman appears in which scene. According to the closing credits, the lipstick girls include Denise Rae Huggs, Claudine Jennings, Crystal Knight, Dyanna Lauren, Anissa L. May, Monica Mendez, Tammy Parks, Penthouse Pet Lydia Schoen, Jennifer Scott, Amy Stapleton, and Stacy Marie Waggoner.

Lingerie Gallery
(1994)

Slip Out Of Something Comfortable
This 30-minute video stars Ginger Lynn Allen in an R-rated romp. In addition, Ginger narrates the proceedings in a very sexy voice. It features solid production values, and beautiful women. The first vignette is entitled "The Girls Of Company G." Wearing World War II era uniforms, Ginger and the girls slowly take them off, to show our brave men what they're fighting for, as well as to boost their morale. The second scene is called "Spark To A Flame." Ginger plays a sexy nightclub singer, who at times appears topless. She also sings a sensual version of the standard "I've Got A Crush On You" that rivals the version sung by Linda Ronstadt. The third vignette is entitled "Some Like It Hotter." A beautiful blonde (not Ginger Lynn Allen) plays Marilyn Monroe. Checking into a hotel, she turns the bellboy into a bellman! The fourth and final scene is called "Savage Innocence." A woman (not Ginger Lynn Allen), dressed up like a Native American, dances around in various stages of undress. I wish they would pair this with the 30-minute video, "Ginger Lynn Allen's Lingerie Gallery, Part 2: Private Screening," and release it on DVD.

Great Bikini Bowling Bash
(2014)

"Kingpin" Has Been Dethroned As The Best Bowling Movie!
Since her father passed away, Candy (Sophia Bella) has been running the bowling alley he built with his own hands. Unfortunately, she has been running it into the ground. When their landlord informs them that they have to come up with three million dollars, or he will sell the place to a real estate developer, Candy doesn't know what to do. After sharing an intimate encounter, her best friends Lucy (Mary Carey), and Jenn (Krissy Lynn), come up with the idea of having a bikini bowling tournament to raise money. As Lucy says, "It'll be like a bikini car wash, but with balls!" Fortunately, every time Lucy bowls, she bounces up and down, which results in her breasts bouncing out of her bikini top. Unfortunately, they only raise five thousand dollars. Candy comes up with an even better idea. Since Troy (Frankie Dell), the best bowler in America, started out playing in her Dad's bowling alley, she figures he'll donate the money to keep the place in business. Jenn seduces Troy into agreeing to that but, when he gets to the bowling alley with her, the jerk reneges on the deal. He comes up with the idea of him bowling one game against the three women, who will take turns bowling a frame. If they win, he will give them four million dollars - three million to buy the bowling alley back, and another million to fix the place up. If he wins, he gets to have an intimate encounter with all three women at the same time! To find out who wins, you'll have to watch the movie. I must add, even though she's not the main character, Mary Carey is the undisputed star of this entertaining movie.

The Honeymooners
(1955)

Laugh Out Loud Funny
The classic show "The Honeymooners" has influenced TV series from "The Flintstones," to "The King Of Queens." Jackie Gleason's larger-than-life size, larger-than-life personality, and loud expressions ("Bang! Zoom!"), carried the show, as lead character Ralph Kramden. Given the nickname "The Great One" by none other than Orson Welles, Jackie certainly deserved that title. His best friend Ed Norton, played by Art Carney, was the perfect best friend to suffer Ralph's temper tantrums, and come back for more. Speaking of suffering, his long-suffering wife Alice was played to perfection by Audrey Meadows. Nicely rounding out the quartet was Trixie Norton, Ed's understanding wife, played by Joyce Randolph. One of my favorite episodes was "Better Living Through TV," originally broadcast on November 12, 1955. That's the episode where Ralph does a live commercial as the Chef of the Future, with Ed as the Chef of the Past. Another favorite episode is "Alice and the Blonde," which was originally broadcast on June 2, 1956. Ralph comes home from work to find no dinner on the table, and Alice all dolled up. Alice: "I'll go fix my lipstick. I won't be gone long, Killer. I call you Killer, 'cause you slay me." Ralph: "And I'm calling Bellevue, 'cause you're nuts!" The timeless humor of all the episodes remain as fresh today, as when they were originally broadcast.

Buried Alive
(1989)

Edgar Allan Poe Is Turning Over In His Grave!
The movie boasts a fine cast, with Robert Vaughn, Donald Pleasence, and John Carradine (in his final film appearance). Playboy Playmate Karen Witter is very beautiful, and might make a passable supporting character. However, she is not a good enough actress play a teacher convincingly, not to mention being the main character in this film. On the other hand, adult movie star Ginger Lynn Allen does a very good job of playing the rebellious student Debbie. Robert Vaughn chews the scenery, Donald Pleasence acts goofy, and poor John Carradine is in a wheelchair, and looking every bit as old as he was. The story is only slightly connected to Edgar Allan Poe's writings at most. The DVD has no theatrical trailer or bonus features of any kind. All in all, it's a little disappointing, but watchable.

My Mother the Car
(1965)

Auto Antics At Its Finest!
"My Mother The Car" does NOT deserve its reputation among TV critics (and some viewers) as the worst sitcom of all time. The premise of someone being reinCARnated as a car is fanciful and far-fetched, while the show itself is very silly and over-the top. Those same descriptions could also apply to other TV series from the sixties, including "Mister Ed," "I Dream Of Jeannie," and "Bewitched," to name a few. While those shows lasted several seasons and are fondly remembered, "My Mother The Car" only lasted one season and, not having enough episodes to make it into syndication, is barely remembered. After viewing all thirty episodes, I can honestly say that I found them to be amusing and enjoyable. Jerry Van Dyke, who stars as attorney Dave Crabtree, proves that he can carry a TV series as the main character very well. Avery Schreiber, who plays his nemesis Captain Manzini, is also a talented comedian, and makes for a comical villain. The video quality of the show is outstanding; the colors are pristine and vivid. In addition, I was pleasantly surprised that most of the laugh tracks were removed. Last but not least, the theme song by Paul Hampton is very catchy and memorable. All in all, I can heartily recommend "My Mother The Car" as a family-friendly show that does NOT insult the viewer's intelligence.
