Fahrenheit 451
(2018)

Shannon can't save this...
Michael Shannon is the only reason to watch this movie. He is acting his bum bum off as usual. Everyone else's character and acting is meh. And the story, I've read the book and watched this movie. I still need to watch the original screen adaptation, but I'm absolutely sure it's better than this. This movie makes changes to the original story for the purpose of- who knows? Everything that this version has to offer does nothing to "improve" the story. This is one of those soulless remakes you hear about. I want to mention the positives, but they are very few, and you should just read the book.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark
(2019)

Dumb characters do dumb things
The characters are constantly making dumb choices, and they just stink. These characters are caricatures of characters from better, more creative, ideas. I started rooting for the ghouls very early on in this movie. However, I can't say I didn't feel anything while watching Scary Stories. I did feel slightly bored, more annoyed, and completely confused. This is how this property was adapted? Some of the visuals are cool, but there is more to a movie/story than spectacle. That's how I would describe this movie. It's a slightly entertaining spectacle with characters who are blah, and stories that were better in the source material.

Moonfall
(2022)

Insultingly Terrible
Why is this a movie that was made? I continued to ask myself that question constantly while watching this absolute garbage of a film. This is the worse movie I've watched this year. I really don't like to just talk poorly about people's works. I understand it takes a lot to make a movie, let alone a decent one. But this, this is barely a movie. It's a Frankenstein's monster. You want to see a something? Well, this is a something. Something awful. It's really barely a story. It's rough and not fun. Even now, typing this much about something that meant so little to me is tough. Boy do I despise this movie.

Incantation
(2021)

It has potential
This movie has potential. I can see this being a short film that got funding to expand and this movie is the result. It's corny at times, cohesive at others, but overall the idea is there. I just wish it would've either been longer or way shorter. Some of the shots (long takes) were really cool. The music was stellar. I didn't care too much for the characters an their dialogue. Story-wise it was kind of convoluted. And I kept thinking saying it must be a B indie film from Canada while watching it. However, it's worth an experience. I'd like to see what this writer/director does next. Hopefully they build on the themes in this movie and really iron them out. This movie is messy but not messy enough to not enjoy to some extent.

Devil in Ohio
(2022)

This show doesn't know what it is
This show doesn't know how to build tension, and it's bland and offensively boring. I'm writing this review because I'm disappointed. The entire show was a waste of time, nothing happens. It's a teen drama with rough acting. I can't suggest it. Little to nothing in the show makes sense. Just watch anything else. There's nothing more to say. I hate to crap on someone's work, but this show deserves it. The music selections were some of the worst ever, and the characters stink. What the freak is this show? The whole time I kept asking myself who cares about anything that's happening. I pray to Lucifer there isn't a second season.

Carlito's Way
(1993)

Now that's what I call an ending!
The ending of this movie made it completely worth the watch, and the first two hours aren't bad either, but that last 30ish minutes were heart gripping. I did feel the length of the longer run time during the second act. But when that last act hits, you're racing towards the finish line, while tension builds without missing a beat. I'm talking edge of seat stuff and a reason why people watch movies. Definitely experience Carlito's Way.

House of Gucci
(2021)

I really should wait until the movie is over...
I am starting this review halfway through the movie, and already I can feel this movie is trying too hard. It wants to be more grand than it is, but it is grand. The only character that seems authentic is Adam Driver's, and he's not enough to keep this movie afloat. The whole thing really feels like Oscar bait for an audience that isn't hooked by just the glamour, glamour is not enough to keep this movie afloat, but the movie is glamorous. I hope I can make it through the end of this movie, and I really should wait until the movie is over to review it but...

Upgrade
(2018)

Hal 9000+
Upgrade is one of those movies that will definitely be a cult classic. I think it came out around the same time as Venom, and it got not nearly as much attention as it deserved. Is it just me or do Logan Marshall-Green and Tom Hardy look alike? Anyway, Upgrade is what Venom probably should've been. Even with the science fiction subject matter my suspension of disbelief was working, this movie had me invested the entire time, and the ending was a treat. Watch it, or I'll Hal 9000+ you.

Dog Soldiers
(2002)

Incompetent soldiers have a showdown with kinda hungry werewolves
Somewhere past the soldiers taking actions that make zero sense (see every scene with a window) and the werewolves taking their sweet time to tear these fools apart, there's a movie on par with American Werewolf in London. I just didn't care about the soldiers at all, and at some point, I started rooting for the werewolves. Some of the feasting shots were well done gore, and I wanted to see more of them. The soldiers were the worst part of this movie in my opinion, so it was great to see them get eaten. This was a solid B horror flic about incompetent soldiers and werewolves. Watch it.

Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil
(1997)

A dragging good time...
This movie goes on and on and on. Is it good? From nearly every aspect, this movie is more than competent and a good story well told. However, while watching it I kept getting the feeling that it was meandering through a plot that could've been presented in one hour forty-ish minutes or so. But when you're most of the notable people who helped produce this movie, you got to make movies like this in the 90s.

Stranger Things: Chapter Seven: The Massacre at Hawkins Lab
(2022)
Episode 7, Season 4

Everything you've read is correct
This season just upped the ante. Since the first season, this series has seen a steady decline in originality with each season. It was almost as if it relied too heavily on being 80's nostalgia. And thus, it felt like the point was to remind the audience of how cool the 80's were. Not this season, this season is back on track and uses the 80's nostalgia not as a crutch but as the garnish to what is riveting storytelling, character building, and pure entertainment. I only hope Stranger Things keeps this momentum all the way until the series finale.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
(2022)

The problem
Doctor Strange is forced to take a backseat in his own movie. And this movie shouldn't be so tied to Wanda Vision. And Sam Rami should've had more creative freedom. And cameos, we got it.

Silver Bullet
(1985)

You get a pass this time uncle Busey
Gary Busey should've been eaten by the werewolf at the end for failing to reload the gun when danger was obviously imminent. But he's still a pretty cool drunk uncle, and this was a pretty solid film for a 1985 Stephen King adaptation, if you don't count the better ones.

Jigeum uri hakgyoneun
(2022)

You'll be entertained. But it'll be rough.
Watching "All of Us Are Dead" is like watching someone else play a zombie video game, but the player controlling these characters makes them act, for lack of a more ridiculous term, "silly". Plainly, the characters go through woefully contrived motions for the sake of forced tension. By the fourth or fifth episode, I found it easy to root for the zombies, at least some of them had brains. Low hanging fruit, you know how I feel about zombie content. I finished the season because I had to.

Spider-Man: No Way Home
(2021)

Possibly the Best Movie of the Year
This movie has it all. I went through a wide range of emotions and all while having fun. There are no points at which I'm asking myself why did I watch this movie (or pay to). This is one of the only movies I will watch again from this year of cinematic rebuilding.

Zack Snyder's Justice League
(2021)

The Movie Everyone Deserved
The only travesty is that we had to put up with a subpar version of this movie to begin with. This one is rewatchable regardless of the runtime. The other one is not.

Friends
(1994)

Don't watch after season seven
I gave this show seven stars because season 8 onward is atrocious. The characters become inconsistent. The writers ran out of situations to put the characters in so they threw them in a blender on high pulsate, just beware. It's a mess. Enjoyable first 7 though!

Cats
(2019)

I only saw the previews
If you paid to see this movie, especially after a view of the previews, way to go! You're the reason this one was made. Shock value at its purrrrest... I had to. Spare yourself.

Ghostbusters
(2016)

"Whose Ghost Is it Anyway"
I would say this movie had poor writing, but it seems as though the majority of the film was improv which is a risky choice for any feature film, especially one of this magnitude. Not even the talented cast portraying these characters could save this "Whose Ghost Is it Anyway" spoof poop, brought to us by Sony.
