I've never given a movie 10 stars until this one! I was mildly interested in it before watching it and am so happy I did. I will warn you though it's a tear jerker. Finally a movie with a positive message, so badly needed in our day! Appropriate for the whole family.

Everyone should be able to relate to this movie. I found myself relating to poor choices I've made in my youth, I found myself relating to the longing to be loved and wanted in your family, and I found myself relating as a parent and the love you have for someone walking around with a piece of your heart.

If this movie gets downrated on IMBD, I can almost guarantee you that it will be because of trolls who believe in abortion. This movie though, does not focus on anti-abortion stances, but on the beauty that comes from the selfless act of adoption and the friends and family that are there for you supporting you through your ups and downs.

So heartwarming, only those without a heart will not like it.

Also wear waterproof mascara when seeing this!

If you're watching this movie for historical accuracy, or even moderate correlation (although I don't know why you would as most historical films are remote from historical accuracy anyways), then don't.

If you're watching it to enjoy a good story that is largely fabricated (as many good movies arguably are these days) then watch it. It was a great film for the right audience, which I would consider to be most people. I didn't have any historical expectations going in and so was pleased by the (un?)original story.

I don't know how this even got an overall 8.2 rating from IMDb users. There was no final conflict and no ending to tie up loose ends. It just drops you. What a waste of time. Disney did it again. They made total crap! What a surprise. The movie doesn't follow the plot lines that they made up in their own cartoon version which was disappointing. I know it was supposed to be from her point of view, but even then if you could look past that and try to see it from her point of view the movie was still lacking. I don't feel that they built up her character enough or the relationship between her and the king for me to sympathize with what he does to her. I was hoping as well that she would have been more evil. The acting sucked (except for Jolie's part). They made the fairies out to be utterly stupid instead of helpful. They were horrible CGI's and it just gave the movie an overall corniness. Disney just butchered it and I can't for some reason understand why people keep saying it was good. It was the most damn irritating movie of all.

My first review, so don't expect an expert critical review. That said, the first thing is there is no character development, mainly because there really is no characteristics to develop in the characters. It is just a crass "man" movie of the lowest caliber. It should have had an NC- 17 rating in the first place. It's just a film about debauchery and degrading women. Nudity, drugs and sex are what the film is really about. So much so I could only sit halfway through and walk out for the rest of the movie. No matter how great the plot could have become couldn't have made up for the first half of the movie, I had no interest in seeing what became of the main characters, so little attachment did I have for them. Unless you're a horny teenager out for some nude show, don't waste your time with this one. Sadly I wasted some.
