A Hard Day's Night
(1964)

Introducing . . . THE BEATLES!!
As a die-hard Beatles fan, I am probably one of the many people out there who say that this is one of the best rock n' roll movies ever created. After seeing this film, you will want to watch this over and over again.

One of the funniest things about "A Hard Day's Night" is Paul's "clean" grandfather. This movie is filled with lots of comedy including (of course), the Beatles. The entire cast has their share of comical lines and actions. From the very beginning, all four musicians make people laugh and feel good.

I'd give this movie four stars, for it's complexity and the general look of the film. If you're a Beatles fan, or just want something random to watch, "A Hard Day's Night" is the movie you want.

Harold and Maude
(1971)

Four stars all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Love has no boundaries." This quote is true when it comes to describing "Harold and Maude." This movie tells the story of a death-obsessed 20-year-old and a lively 79-year- old woman. Harold (played by Bud Cort) is a boy who likes to do fake deaths and go to funerals in his free time. Maude on the other hand, loves life and can't wait till her 80th birthday. Their relationship turns from friendship to love.

I would recommend "Harold and Maude" to anybody. The acting done by Ruth Gordon is unforgettable. Her spirit and liveliness in this film makes anybody watching want to be her. And Bud Cort. . . even though he doesn't speak much, his actions are memorable in many ways.

Many people think that this relationship between a young man and a VERY old woman can't work. But this movie crosses the line and works well. Hal Ashby and Colin Higgins did a great job directing and producing this film. They did everything that supposedly couldn't work in a film.

My Rating: 10/10, Romance/Comedy

Cheongookeui gyedan
(2003)

Choi Ji-woo = bad acting
Sorry to all Choi Ji-woo fans but I just don't see why you guys like her so much. The only thing she can do is cry. She can't do anything else.

In "Stairway to Heaven" she plays the "good girl" (again for tenth time) who gets into a car accident (again). Kwon Sang-woo and Shin Hyun-joon did a good job though. Even Lee Hwi-hyang as the evil step-mother. This drama would've been better if the casting directors had picked a better actress.

As for the young actors, I'd have to say that Park Ji-mi did the best job as Han Yuri. For a young girl, her acting was very good compared to Park Shin-hye (young Choi Ji-woo). To me, she's the best actress in the whole series and Kwon Sang-woo is the best actor in this.

The storyline was also a cliché used many times. Poor girl likes good guy. Poor girl's mom dies of cancer. Poor girl's father marries mean lady with mean step-sister and nice step-brother. Step-brother falls for poor girl. Mean step-sister falls for good guy. Poor girl gets amnesia.

Haven't we seen enough of this. Can the producers come up with something better?! (2 out of 10)

Sunset Blvd.
(1950)

Four stars!!!!!
Billy Wilder's classic "Sunset Blvd." is a masterpiece about suspense, mystery, and intrigue. I think that Gloria Swanson should've gotten an Oscar for her performance as Norma Desmond. Swanson stole the movie and this is one of the best acting I've ever seen.

Rating: 10/10

William Holden and Nancy Olsen did okay jobs as the supporting characters but it was still good. Wilder also did well with the cinematography and directing in this. From the very beginning with the music and the narration, you know that something's going to be excellent.

The plot was also suspenseful when you have two people like Swanson and Holden working together on opposite sides. The idea of having a "Norma Desmond" in "Sunset Blvd." gave it more mystery and made it more interesting.

In conclusion, everybody should watch this movie at least once in their lifetime!

Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb
(1964)

And the Oscar SHOULD'VE gone to. . . . . Peter Sellers!
If Peter Sellers is in it, you know you have something good. One of his greatest films was "Dr. Strangelove Or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying and Love The Bomb." (Also a Kubrick favorite.)

I think that Sellers should've won the Best Actor Oscar for his performanceS in this movie. Who in the world can play three different characters in one film and do great as Peter?

This is a well made movie and should be on everybody's favorite movies or must see list. George C. Scott and Stanley Kubrick also deserve more credit and more applause to this movie. "Dr. Strangelove" is a classic masterpiece about war and the consequences of it.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
(1975)

Deserved the "Best Picture" Oscar . . .
***May contain spoilers***

"One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" is a great movie that deserved applauses around the world. Nicholson deserved the "Best Actor" Oscar for his performance as R.P. McMurphy and the screenplay was good too. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that Louise Fletcher won the Oscar for "Best Actress." Nothing against Fletcher but her performance wasn't that great as I expected it to be.

I've never read the Ken Kesey novel but it must be a masterpiece if the movie is.

Overall, this was a very depressing movie. I didn't know that Jack Nicholson was going to die and I almost cried when Chief left the building. But I can see why he did the things he did. Billy was another sad character.

This is a **** film and one of Nicholson's best.

Rock School
(2005)

School of Rock, rocks!
As a die-hard classic rock fan, I absolutely love this movie! "Rock School" is a movie that every future rock star should see.

The person I was most amazed at, was 12-year-old CJ. I've never seen so much talent in a young boy. When he was at the Zappalan festival, everybody was bowing to him at the end of his performance.

Will, Asa, and Tucker also had potential in music.

Paul Green is a really good teacher when you think about it. Even though he can go off sometimes, it's usually for a good reason. I like people that know what real music is.

In other words, everybody go see that documentary. 10 out of 10.

Mr. Bean
(1990)

Genius!
"Mr. Bean" is one of the funniest shows ever created. American shows need to be more like the British ones. Rowan Atkinson is a very creative actor and this is the role that he was made to do. Whenever I see a car similar to his' now, I'll just remember it as the best supporting object that's never won an Emmy (sadly).

But anyways, everybody should watch this show no matter what. Because of this show, I now have new ways of doing things and such.

And last, but not least, is the teddy bear Mr. Bean always carries around. He's another one that should win an Emmy for his performance.

So for anybody reading this, go to the nearest video store and buy "Mr. Bean."

The Silence of the Lambs
(1991)

Anthony Hopkins + Jodie Foster = Great film!
What can I say about "The Silence of the Lambs?" Besides the fact that it's one of the greatest mystery films, great actors, and a great storyline . . . . go and see it if you haven't.

Clarise Starling and Hannibal Lector make a great pair in the movie. Although some parts aren't for kids (as in Buffalo Bill and some blood), it's a good movie to see if you're home by yourself if you want to watch a mystery combined with adventure. Not many police films are good to see, but this one wouldn't make you waste $10 or something like that. Recommended to anyone who likes police/mystery films, Jodie Foster, and Anthony Hopkins.

Quadrophenia
(1979)

If you like Mods, watch this!
"Quadrophenia" is a great story about a teenager living in Britain during the Rockers vs. Mods movement. Phil Daniels captured the film as Jimmy Cooper, the cool, yet, sophisticated, drugged out Mod who goes through many obstacles. I really think that The Who did a great job with this film and I wished that they could've done another one like this. It was also a good film because of Sting (Ace).

Not many people know about the Mods or what teenage life was like back then in 1963; so I'm glad that this came out. I would recommend this movie to anybody who likes The Who or just wants to lay back and watch a British drama.

Ivanhoe
(1982)

Great movie!
"Ivanhoe" is one of the best historical movies I've ever seen! I would recommend this to anybody because it's full of romance and adventure. I didn't like the ending though, only because Sam Neill's character didn't end up with Rebecca (Olivia Hussey), which was really sad.

I don't know what else to say besides the fact that I fell in love with this movie after I saw it the first time. But the fact that they portrayed Rowena as the beautiful girl that everybody was supposed to like was kinda depressing. Between Rebecca and Rowena, I think Rebecca stole the movie because of her courage and will to help Ivanhoe even though they have different backgrounds. So if you have read this, go out and buy the video.
