the ultimate anthropological experience in this day and age, people prefer high speed movies, with one event after the other. I'm no different than that. when a movie is too slow or too quite, I loose interest. in the case of "Dances with wolves", the pace works in favor of the magnificent picture portrayed in colorful shades. it allows the watcher not only to understand the protagonist, but also identify with his process, and to experience what he experiences. I don't know much about Indians, so I cant assess the truism of the story. then again, it's not a movie about Indians: it's a story about cultural differences. it's a story representing a sad reality. I love this movie very much. it allowed me to live in an alternative reality for a while, and did it well.
