Treason

MI5 Is Not This Incompetent But The Writing Is
Such utter drivel that makes the real MI5 look like total idiots. From the new C talking openly on his phone as his driver listens, to wanting the audience believe his stupidity that he would betray his country in such an idiotic manner, to his wife taking a spy pen from her girlfriend, a CIA agent, it was all I could do from passing out from lack of oxygen because I was laughing so hard.

There are so many astoundingly brilliant writers looking for work one has to wonder how this was even green-lit. Seriously, Netflix, surely your executives can do better? I love spy flicks and was really really stoked to watch this. Bummer.

Magnificent
I've just binged Season One and am now on Two. Scott Ryan, who created and wrote the show, plus stars in it, is an amazing talent and can't wait to see what else he does. His characters philosophy is one I've lived by my entire life so I relate deeply to him. However, the real winners in all this are the struggling creatives that should take heart from Mr. Ryan and his obvious persistence. Never give up. Never take no for an answer. Be true to your craft.

At Last!
Truly a show worth watching as often I can't get past the pilot. Jack Bannon is magnificent, and reminds me in speech and mannerism of early Michael Caine, aka The Gov'na. Sir Michael proved that us working class lads could aspire to be whoever we wanted to, but I digress.

So well cast with strong performances across the board, with stands outs Paloma Faith, Jason Flemyng, and Ian Puleston-Davies. I've watched Seasons 1 and 2 twice, and am really looking forward to 3.

La torcedura
(2004)

Amazing!
Holy Moly! I just finished watching La Torcedura, based on a friends recommendation and it was completely worthwhile. This is exactly what Hollywood needs; a fresh thinking director with an amazing eye and the ability to tell a real story. Wilmer Valderrama's performance was very believable and helped bring me into the movie. The Special Effects were well thought out and not overused, unlike a lot of big budget films where the director/producers seem to, but not always, use them in place of story - very sad. Additionally, the overall use of the cooler blue tones added to the urgency and intensity of the piece. Great writing, directing and editing. His short totally held me, so please, someone give this guy a real budget and let him go make a feature.
