Deadwood (2004)
Kidnapping, Murder, and all kinds of violence accompanied with very well written progressive stories it is a must see.
Deadwood was broadcast by HBO and is set in real town of the same name in the 1870's. Deadwood was a town without laws where anything goes. A lot of the characters in this show were based on real people surrounded by some real events. The show starts off with Seth Bullock (Timothy Olyphant) travelling to the then camp Deadwood to set up his own hardware store however not long after he is made Sheriff of the expanding settlement. He has many run ins with Al Swearengen the owner of the local Bar and Brothel. There are many other real historical characters in the town such as Wild Bill Hickok, Calamity Jane and many more. As the producers of this show attempted to bring the real violence and disregard for human life as was the case with deadwood 140 years ago you can expect to have all your violent needs satisfied with this show.
This show has won Emmy and Golden Globe awards and was named 8th on TV Guides list in 2013 of shows canceled too early. The performance of Ian McShane as Al Swearengen was brilliant on so many levels. Ian McShane portrayed the brutal and cold hearted element that was common back in those good old times. With Kidnapping, Murder, and all kinds of violence accompanied with very well written progressive stories it is a must see.

American Horror Story (2011)
It has at all
American Horror Story is unlike any horror show that is on TV at the moment. Each season follows a different story line and setting. They do recycle the actors and characters each season so it does not matter if you pick up watching the show at any time.
The first season is titled American Horror Story Murder house which follows a family who have moved into a house with a history, the history is in the title. The second season titled American Horror Story Asylum follows the grizzly comings and goings of an insane asylum in the 1960's. The Third season Titled American Horror story Coven is set in New Orleans and follows a coven of young witches. The fourth season which is due to air in 2015 is titled Freak Show and will be set in a 1950's carnival.
The performances of the actors particularly Jessica Lange who has played different characters throughout the show and Star Trek and Heroes actor Zachary Quinto has been outstanding. At the end of each episode you can not help but have a morbid curiosity of what will happen in the next one. It has at all, Drama, Story telling and heart stopping freaky moments. Archer (2009)
We can laugh about the Cold War
This show has to be one of the funniest shows out there at the moment.
This show follows the life and missions of Sterling Archer (Voiced by Bobs Burgers H. Jon Benjamin) , an international spy who works at ISIS (International Secret Intelligence Service). The series has a cold war era theme running, where sterling travels around the world on secret missions, but that is only half of it. Sterling has a huge ego complex, believing he is the greatest secret agent ever, and Gods gift to women, he is also dealing with unbelievable mother issues (it doesn t help that his mother is his boss at the agency) and working with and going on missions with his ex girlfriend. His father is head of the KGB and the doctor/scientist at ISIS is a coked up ex Nazi.
This show is full of violence, curse words, drugs, everything you could imagine to make it one hell of a show. Go Watch

Real life characters such as Al Capone has the viewer just wanting more
This series currently broadcasted on HBO is set in Prohibition Atlantic City and follows political figure and Atlantic City treasurer Enoch 'Nucky' Thompson's bootlegging business. Enoch Thompson is based on the real life Enoch Johnson. The series is based on the Book ' Boardwalk Empire: The Birth, High Times, and Corruption of Atlantic City' and produced by Martin Scorsese and Mark Wahlberg among others.
Enoch Thompson played by Steve Buscemi sees how profitable bootlegging would be and immediately when prohibition becomes law sets out on his quest to bring booze to Atlantic City. There are many other real life characters who appear in Boardwalk Empire such as Arnold Rothstein, Al Capone Johnny Torrio and Charles Luciano. From time to time Nucky calls on them for help or goes to war with them. The show is loosely based on real events and brings the viewer into the Prohibition era and shows the corruptness and greed of the criminals and indeed the officials charged with stopping them. Cast members such as Michael Shannon, Kelly McDonald Stephen Graham among others contribute greatly to this show and they play their characters with such realism.
From what you would expect in a crime drama TV show and the involvement of Martin Scorsese this show has it all, The violence, great story telling, and drama makes this show brilliant, also with the involvement of real life characters such as Al Capone has the viewer just wanting more.

Strength to Strength every season
Breaking Bad is without doubt the ultimate hardass TV show. Developed by Vince Gilligan and Broadcasted on the AMC network from 2008-2013. Breaking Bad tells the story of chemistry teacher Walter White (Bryan Cranston)who has been diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer resorting to making Meth (Methamphetamine) so that his family will have enough money to survive after he is gone.
From the outset we can see the character walter white like himself living a clean honorable lifestyle working two jobs to keep afloat his pregnant wife and disabled son. After Walter is diagnosed with lung cancer he decideds one day to go for a ride along with his brother in law Hank who is a DEA agent about to bust a Meth dealer. Walter notices a former student of his Jessie (Aaron Paul) escaping a Meth house and soon tracks him down to discuss the possibility of a business partnership where Walter makes the Meth and Jessie distributes.
Breaking Bad was the kind of show that went from strength to strength every season. From Walter being a mild mannered high school teacher who's intentions seemed honorable to a feared well known drug maker who uses the alias Heisenberg. This is a show that along with great progressive writing, violence, drug making and the ultimate good to bad story makes is one HARDASS TV show.

Pushes the Boundaries
Brickleberry is an animated TV show currently broadcasted on Comedy Central. The show follows the live's of a group of dysfunctional park rangers at the fictional Brickleberry national park....and a talking bear cub.
The show revolves around Steve who takes his job very seriously, Ethel a new addition to the staff who is a recovering alcoholic, Connie a butch lesbian with super human strength who has a crush on Ethel, Denzel an African American ranger who has a sexual preference for very old women, Woody the Head ranger and former porn star who is obsessed with making the park profitable and Molloy a bear cub who's parents where accidentally shot by Steve after he was born and is now been cared for by Woody.
What makes this show utterly brilliant is the boundaries it pushes for laughs. Themes of Murder/Rape/Drugs are common. Molloy the bear cup is spoiled by woody which increases his belief in his own self importance. The episodes which focus on Connie and her lesbian desires are hilarious and wrong..and hilarious because they are wrong. If you want Family Guy in the woods give this show a go.

A rapper who wants to be on top.........really!!
This is a show I have only really begun to get around too. And I have to say it has to be one of the funniest shows going at the moment. The series is broadcasted on the FX network and has just been cancelled,, PITY!!!!
The show follows Phillip 'Chozen' Cullens after he has been released from prison after serving 10 years for a crime he did not commit. Phillip was framed by his ex band mate Phantasm who was jealous of Chozen getting all the attention in the band, who he himself has now made it big. After Chozen has been released from prison he moves in with his younger college sister Tracy on campus. The show follows Chozen as he attempts to make it big in the rap industry.
Chozen differs from the stereotypical rapper along the grounds that he is white, and openly Gay. We see throughout the show Chozen trying to adjust to the outside world after heavily been influenced by prison life, as he is trying to climb to the top of the rap game.

24 (2001)
What can we say?
What can we say for 24?? It is a political thriller that is set in 'real time' which brings a real sense of in the moment television. The first season was very realistic (well, more realistic then the other 7 seasons) with Jack Bauer (Keifer Sutherland) racing against time to stop the assassination of presidential hopefull David Palmer. As the season goes on we see that Jack and David Palmers past were intertwined. I am resisting the urge to go to much into detail for some people who have not began to see this show, if you haven't seen it, I recommend you get a 2 week sick certificate from your doctor to stay off work, tell the girlfriend you have a nasty case of Diarrhea and cant call over, lock yourself in your room or mothers basement and start watching. Over the course of the 8 seasons, Jack infiltrates Drug Cartels, Attempts to stop nuclear disasters, rescues children from military coups in Africa throw in nearly starting war with Russia and China and you get one Badass TV Show. www.hardasstv.com
