Petite maman
(2021)

Beautiful beautiful film
This film is a wonder. Pure heart. Beautifully made and acted. I couldn't stop crying after it ended. Thanks for bringing such beauty to the screen. A small little gem.

Tabula Rasa
(2017)

Very interesting series that destroys itself in its last chapter
I was very hooked with this series. The mystery was interesting and chilling. The acting was good and the story in general had very nice twists. But sadly this is a great example of a series that didn't know how to end. All the stuff that happens in the very last chapter is nonsensical and destroys the plot. It is completely ridiculous. *** SPOILERS Let's imagine that I could understand V's motivations and machinations. Even if they are hard to believe. But I can live with a campy evil character. But Thomas? How come a man with no apparent resources and missing one hand (that he somehow managed to cut off himself without bleeding to death) manages to pull a Sherlock Holmes and solve the whole mystery by himself and in ten days? And how did he get out of the cabin without anybody noticing? Did he just tidy everything up? This is a horrible deus ex machina pulled in a show that didn't know how to tie up the whole story. *** /SPOILERS Don't waste 9 hours of your life in this pointless series. Will hardly watch anything coming from the same directors/writers ever again.

Crimson Peak
(2015)

Beautiful visuals do not make a movie
I have just watched this movie and it was a terrible disappointment. I loved other Del Toro's movies, but this ones feels totally empty. The film is a visual feast. Gorgeous locations, wonderfully lit serve as the background for the tale. Fantastic shots and good acting would make you think that this is a good movie. But it is not. The plot is so cheap, that you can tell what is going to happen since the first frame. The evil characters are so cartoonish that you can see their next movements from miles away. The "good" character is so bland and pathetic that you never have a real connection with her. In fact, as you can see where the film goes from the beginning, this movie is a total bore. Do not waste your time and watch "The Devil's Backbone" instead.

Interstellar
(2014)

Pretentious mess with nice visuals
I loved most of Nolan's films. Memento, The Dark Knight are among the best movies I've watched. Sadly I can't say the same about Insterstellar. I can't understand what happened with Nolan on this movie. The plot is a complete mess, filled with arbitrary nonsense they dare call science. It spends time explaining what a wormhole is and then it throws in some metaphysical bs about the fifth dimension which does not make any sense. This is not a sci-fi film it is a fantasy movie. The visuals are the only redeeming quality this movie has. But however great they are, they cannot save this mess of a movie. Weak, forced acting with dull dialogue makes this one of the weakest movies I've seen this year.

O Estranho Caso de Angélica
(2010)

Not poetic, just awful
I wanted to see this movie so badly because of many other good films its director made in the past. But I was very disappointed. :( This movie is weak and has and absurd story.

The acting is not bad (what can they do anyway with the terrible lines they are sometimes given) and there are a couple of good moments. But all the ghost love story is just absurd and never starts in my opinion. It has an amateurish quality that plays against it.

What makes me angry is that this movie is sold as an art movie just because of its director. It is not. This is not poetic, it is just one bad movie.

Honestly, one to skip.
