Gantz
(2004)

Not the best adaptation from a GOD source
While Gantz's manga is a masterpiece in many ways, the anime adaptation fails to achieve that good feeling when watching it.

The idea behind it, the characters and the story is great, but it feels like it doesn't convey all the emotions that the anime could give.

In my opinion this is because the anime is made without good resources (bad study or styles not well applied): the speed in the story, the transitions between scenes, the animation of the characters (movement), the music and other small things. Details make the difference and in the end it makes it less pleasant. If the series had Disney's rendering/animation quality it would be a 10 without a doubt.

On the other hand, while the manga continues and delves into the main character's story, the anime ends up returning to the train station where it begins, as if giving it a second chance.

Although I recommend this series. It helps to give voices to the characters and see them with more details and "alive."

Since it may be in the wrong place, I think it should be rebooted and take the place among the best series that it deserves.

Ahsoka: Part Five: Shadow Warrior
(2023)
Episode 5, Season 1

A New Hope
This chapter is a breath of fresh air to get the series back to where it should be.

So far the characters are lacking in charisma, so this is a great way to make fans happy, but it also makes us feel something more.

I think it is a success to have shown the Clone Wars as a link between the series and the rest of the Star Wars universe even though it comes from animation. In part it also serves to show the relationship between Ahsoka and Mandalore.

Apart from the moment of the lightsaber fight (the best of the chapter), there is the search for Ezra that grows in expectations, mixed with the plans of the Sith.

On this matter it's best not to judge yet, but I hope it gets interesting once they have to fight again, otherwise I believe it will be very disappointing.

Ahsoka: Part One: Master and Apprentice
(2023)
Episode 1, Season 1

Forced script
The characterization of Ahsoka's Padawan and the way she is presented in the show is unnecessary.

It appears too early to show her as a rebellious woman, who doesn't follow the orders she's been given, so the decision to steal the map "could make sense" because "she does what she wants", but I think it's a mistake.

She shouldn't have to appear that much minutes on scene.

On one hand it's irrelevant for the story. At that point i personally don't care about one random character.

Additionally as it's known on most of the shows, as much time someone appears means it's more a main charachter, so makes predectible what will happen next chapter. It destroys the suspense.

On the other hand, her decision to take the map without her supervision doesn't make sense either. It's like putting meat next to a lion and being surprised because he eats it. She also seems childish and selfish.

The Last of Us
(2023)

SOTY (Serie Of The Year)
A short review just to express that it is a great adaptation.

There are little changes that they are just fine, so anyone should bear them.

Chapter 3 is a rainbow unicorn between all these chapters, but it's all right.

The content of the serie is great on many aspects: The photography, the acting, the casting, scenario & decoration, the locations, the action and the silences are excelent AND the script it follows the original content on most of the Key moments, so it shows the universe of The Last Of Us as expected and better.

For sure it's a serie it can be watched even if you played the game, and it's made with quality enough to rewatch or just set the universe for spin-offs if intended.

Resident Evil
(2022)

The casting is Ok, but the serie is full of awful decisions
+ I think the casting performs well, and there are elements that are good like the scientist, who helps to remember that this is Resident Evil, but in general it misses many elements to make it a good R. E. serie. (I'm talking about songs, cameras, terror-script-oriented, not-fancy-image, etc.)

  • What i don't like is to get out from the R. E. enviroment, suposed to be terror and make you feel unconfortable, because it's attempted to make a joke or it's played a song that it doesn't fit at all (very bad choice of songs and moment).

  • It's fine when series get deep building characters, but this kind of title shouldn't get focus that much on the teenager point of view. At least there is a lack of interest on what happens in the way how it's explained.

  • This is personal, but the way how many scenes are so close of the face it looks unnatural. Looks like an old fashion game dialog, so it gives me the sensation the serie is a product before a new game based on it.

  • Another thing as well is that there is some fan service (the chainsaw and all the scene...). Again, this is gonna be wanted then in a year make it appear in a game using the same animation...?

So, in general, the serie doesn't achieve to introduce you fully in that universe because it chains many wrong decisions.

Missing the song of the first R. E. btw. It should has been used.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch
(2021)

I appreciate the quality of the series in lighting and other special effects.
To me it looks like a movie split on chapters. There is many nice details with particles, lights, textures that maybe most of the people don't notice, but it makes the serie a really good one.

I'm not a fan of the modeling of the characters. It's okay but not my style, but when that it's ignored the overall is really great.

A bad thing it's that the plot it remembers too much to me "The Mandalorian" and "The Witcher".

Outcast
(2014)

It could be better, the beginning it's weaker than the rest
I think this film is a tipical N.American movie where the hero is the best in the foreign country, but this is not the problem.

I was near to stop watching the movie because the beginning, but after that it looks better, with more action (more interesting). It provably would be better if the first part were a flashback just after the scene of the spear.

The second problem is the cliché argument where the woman fall in love, and the final is not epic, nor well scripted.

Despites all, can be a good movie for a Sunday or holiday.

The Mandalorian: Chapter 8: Redemption
(2019)
Episode 8, Season 1

Great chapter! (with a couple "little" errors in the review)
Favoulouse episode. Very enjoyable.

The cons:
  • The explosion inside the building: Can't be harder the shock for the woman than the guys outside at two feets of distance...

  • The goodbye: it was so cold. Provably because the time needed for the chapter, but very trimed. It needed some more talks or pauses...
AND, do not verify the death of the Bad One... (Understable for storyline, but not for common sense)

Other details wasn't care to me.

--- *the teletubbie laughter of the little "Yoda" was funny.

The Witcher: The End's Beginning
(2019)
Episode 1, Season 1

Near to be almost perfect
It is notable in most parts but some details annoy me: Comparing with books they don't fit the image that i have about them.

About the chapter exclusivelly, the scene with when Geralt speaks the horse looks meh... the scene in the castle looks poor because the music.
  • The song masks the cruelty outside which was the cause of these moments. Pure metal and screams would have been better.
The rest is acceptable/great

The Witcher
(2019)

Very nice but superman doesn't fits as Geralt to me
Every time I see Geralt I see superman. Too much strong to be threated by any villager, too much young for this voice, too much happy to be witcher.

Other characters: Good acting enough but kind weird actors selection.

Geralt review: He need to polish his looks (to seem more tired) and his acting more natural, some scenes stays like one statue.

The Mandalorian: Chapter 7: The Reckoning
(2019)
Episode 7, Season 1

Well enough, but some things forced
As I say in the title, all the chapter is welcome, but there is two facts a little forced:

The appear of the dragons, all this is because bad guys couldn't get a ride? A Little forced to save the man, then help Mando and bla, bla. Good but you know... not casual. *I didn't like the bad aim of the trooper too. It's like.. "learn to shoot please".

The end of this chapter has the same "problem", doesn't seems casual, but by the way, story change is welcome.

I expected see Kylo Ren in one chapter, when Imperial ship arrives (I'm not sure if has logic in the timeline, but it could be awsome to cross with Mando)

The Mandalorian: Chapter 6: The Prisoner
(2019)
Episode 6, Season 1

falling in love again (+ pros & cons)
It makes the chapter interesting putting all against Mando. The scene before leave the ship alerted about something bad to Mando, but was well resolved in the cabin and the betrayal. It really feels like a Futuristic-FarWest & Terror movie. Red light made it.

Pros: we know a bit more about the mandalorian (the past/business) and the "limits" of his skills/combo. Not the stronger, not infallible (missiles), but "smart thinking" and with experience. Cons: FarWest cliché (everybody aiming everybody) & Bloodthirsty disapeared (still remembering first episode...)

The Mandalorian: Chapter 4: Sanctuary
(2019)
Episode 4, Season 1

Little choices
I like this episode in general but:

Little things like the mother trying to reach the daughter was not credible at all, a little forced.

The fight with the ex-trooper it is too a liitle weird, seems fighters from "Pressing Catch" (overreacted). (The draws at the end show one best and dangerous scene)

Finally, why the hell Mando doen't use the helmet visor the scan enemies before enter the tent?, or just make a better plan, or wait until the moment, and then add some enemy reason to catch them.

The Mandalorian
(2019)

Wonderful by the moment
This serie is great because many reasons.

The quality in the images is so beautiful, the transitions between scenes is really Star Wars. The music is all the time with you making every moment more easy to understand as well the blur effects. Every important moment has the character or the lanscape focused to see what the camera wants to. Special effects really nice too.

So in a few words: Very good serie. By the moment. The fifth is goings worst, I expect the following will be better. I really like see how this anti-hero grows up and enjoy a good "film script" (story)

*Please Disney, take care of the details!, like the cloak/cape/capa. How many Mando has? It's indestructible? and doesn't get dirty?...

The Mandalorian: Chapter 5: The Gunslinger
(2019)
Episode 5, Season 1

Worst than previous. Awful "bounty hunter" decisions
I have 3 reasons to say that this chapter it is very bad. (Spoilers below) 1) No person could kill his bounty in the way that the "cool guy" does. One reasonable option was give the woman, and later betray Mando once he will alone in his ship.

2) I compare the pictures on the end. And is noticable that the guy that seems Han Solo is put there to make happy some fans (fan service) but makes low the quality.

3) The scene of the sand has 2 parts. It is ridiculous not be able to run with these "spiders" from them, and I read recently that are from Tatooin and Mando can talk with them, with no explanations about that. Maybe has a G.Translator inside the helmet.

Death Note
(2017)

Very bad adaptation of one of best series.
The version of the movie does not fulfill the expectations that are expected of a story with an argument like Death Note. The series deserved a more reliable adaptation, not this crude invention for the American public. There is no sense of seeing clever and cunning characters with whom you enjoy that extreme duel in which they try to hunt.

It is done like this to make another film better next year?
