The Sandman
(2022)

Wasted Potential
Started off really good up until the 6th episode. Engaging plot where we follow Dream's journey to regain his tools that which help him become his old self again, the king of dreams. Visually fantastical and befitting of the genre. Although, after the 6th episode, the show loses its grip. Starts to venture into other subplots that don't necessarily correlate to the prior one. Resulting in less care for the new characters that weren't developed earlier on the show. Lots of LGBT inclusivity, a common Netflix trope nowadays, however it serves absolutely no purpose to the storyline. It also becomes too obnoxious the way they hammer down the homosexuality in these two particular episodes where it shows most side characters are gay. It feels too politically driven. Which is sad because people make movies not for the sake of filmmaking anymore, it's always about political beliefs. Sad to see where this show is going. Truthfully hope there's saving to it if they decide to do a season 2.

Servant: Commitment
(2022)
Episode 9, Season 3

Losing Servant
I feel like the plot has been dragged on way too much, we already know what happened to the baby and how dysfunctional the family is. But the show writers still try to squeeze something out of it, with very little progress added to the storyline.

So far this episode is very satisfying seeing how Dorothy got her own treatment. She's grown very annoying especially the last 2 episodes (in fact the entire season 2).

I've also come to the realization that they will never reveal who or what Leanne really is. I've lost interest on that mystery already, and after 3 seasons, I can guarantee that they'll maintain the ambiguity for "open interpretation" for the viewers. Albeit there's a character arch now that Leanne's gained her own cult following.

I would not be shocked if the show gets cancelled after season 3. At this point, it's not a slow-burn drama anymore, it's just poor writing.

Fear Street: 1994
(2021)

Missed Opportunity
Felt like this movie was a missed opportunity, the storyline was alright but the execution of the 90s vibe was rather lackluster. Didn't have that nostalgia when you're watching Stranger Things or even AHS 1984. One thing that I noticed that didn't make sense was, where is everybody in the film? Other than the main characters, it felt like they were in a ghost town, running around yelling and bleeding without other people noticing. Major plot hole.

The cast did okay as a whole, however the lead character, Deena (Kiana Madeira) was extremely unlikable. I don't know if it was maybe the script or what but it was hard rooting for the final girl to survive when you don't even like her. That's another issue this movie has.

Overall, it would've been a more enjoyable watch IF the leads were likable. Maybe a different director with better execution fleshing out the 90s vibe.
