Black Snow
(2022)

I kept waiting for something to happen
This series sounds pretty good, however in my opinion, it's not very good.

There's too many predictable red herrings, which is just annoying.

They did this a lot in the last 2 episodes and it left me rolling my eyes.

Now the attitude of some of the characters seemed so unnecessary, Izzy's sister was grumpy that the detective was opening the case.

And Izzy's friend hating her because she called her dad racist.

And so on.

Now the detective fella also has a background story...which is not interesting. They didn't build him up as a character enough to really make me care for him. And he doesn't blink because of his background story or so I believe.

And after hating the detective, Hazel suddenly felt compassion for him after he told her his story. This didn't feel like a genuine interaction between the characters.

The writers tried to make Izzy's dad this big scary pastor guy, but he wasn't. They tried though and good on them but the actor made his character look gentle.

So I didn't really believe he was meant to be massive important, scary man.

They introduced us to a character, that was expendable. And I feel like, introducing a character after the first 2 episodes was a dead give away for his story.

Overall the series was okay and it's easy to follow along but it also feels like it drags on and something only happens at the end of the series.

Don't go into this series thinking it's going to be a master piece as the writing is meh.

But it will be a decent enough piece to chuck on if you can't find anything else.

Dexter: New Blood
(2021)

Underwhelming but could have been good!
So the series starts with Dexter's, I mean Jim's life in Iron Lake, he works at a gun shop.

We see him try to be normal and fit in.

Then Harrison shows up and it felt awesome to see him again, I was excited for it.

But not long after that does the show go down hill, and it's not due to Harrison. It in fact was the poor writing surrounding Angela Bishop.

After Mat's death, Angela changes, she suddenly knows that her bf Jim is really Dexter Morgan, she then also suddenly suspects that he's a killer because be worked with Doakes.

Oh and she became suspicious because the podcast lady planted it in her head that he was working together with Kurt Caldwell, because Dexter was there with her at Kurt's cabin.

And she suddenly suspects that he's the bay harbour butcher, with no evidence, all because someone said they didn't believe it was Doakes.

There's too many coincidences, there's no hurdles for Angela to jump over, she just suddenly had all the right information. The writing is weak and for that I give it a four.

The series could have been much better and a lot of fun to watch but unfortunately it wasn't.

The Many Saints of Newark
(2021)

This is really a story about Harold McBrayer
The trailer's showed and told us that this film was gong to be about the mob and Dickie Moltisanti was going to be the lead.

However that is not true, it's about another man and his crew and the race issues of the 1960s and 70s. Now that's fine an all however I am not a fan that they pushed it to be a mob movie in the trailers.

Now the moments with the character's from the tv series weren't easter eggs as some have put it but it was just a fan service which became annoying.

It wouldn't surprise me if they used this movie to set up another tv series about Harold.

Now the ending of this film was dumb, they used The Sopranos theme song when Tony was shown touching pinkie's with Dickie. Horrible, just horrible.

This was a disappointing film.

Superman & Lois
(2021)

Family Man
In this series we see a different kind of Superman, a superman with a family. He's more human than alien in it, he's relatable.

Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch have great chemistry, they were perfectly cast as Clark and Lois.

I highly recommend this series.

Zack Snyder's Justice League
(2021)

This is the Justice League we deserved
I just finished watching it it's a master piece, fantastic, amazing and brilliant. We got to see more of Victor Stone, aka Cyborg, which we hardly saw in the Josstice league. Aquaman wasn't all over Wonder Woman in this film, which felt out of place in the other JL, it was focused more on battle and worked much better.

Ignore what the movie critics may say, just watch the film for yourself.

I loved that there were moments explained so you weren't left confused about what's happening and why it's gonna happen. That was another thing missing from the previous JL.

Overall, it's a film that's worth seeing, it's funny when it wants to be and doesn't feel out of place, it's heart-breaking in others and very enjoyable.

The Manhattan Project
(1986)

Not an enjoyable film at all
First of all, I love John Lithgow and he was the reason I watched it. The writing in film isn't great, the director made out that us the audience should feel sorry and side with the young terrorist, when in reality he just a selfish, silly teenager who is really the antagonist.

The happy ending is dumb, the kid nearly killed thousands and thousands of people and the FBI just let him walk. But I get it, it's meant to be a fun film but all I see is that you can break into a building, steal property, build a bomb and get away with it. It's not a great message.

I wouldn't recommend the film, not worth it.

Bump
(2021)

It just pulls you with those heart strings.
What I enjoyed about this serious is that it was easy to sit down and watch. And it ended up being better than I originally thought, based off the trailer. The first episodes just hits you when Oly gives her first reaction to giving birth. All her struggles and her feelings were similar to when I became a mum. Especially the moment in the toilets when her breasts are leaking and she was emotional over it all. I definitely cried a little, knowing those similar feelings. I loved how this series made you feel like Oly, the writing in that aspect was great.

I also found it interesting to have a Spanish Australian family be some of the main characters. You don't often get to see Spanish Australians on TV or at least in my experience.

A couple of things that I felt lacked in the writing, were with Jacinda's grandparents. It felt rather sudden that Dom magically knew who his wife had been messing around with and Matias' wife somehow guessed who he had an affair with. How those character's came to those conclusions are unknown to me and there was no natural way of coming to that.

Another thing that I came to dislike was the constant feminist rhetoric, I didn't mind it but I felt like they may have over used it but I also understand why because that's who the main character is.

If you've already seen the first episode you would have heard Oly say "Breast is best" when she feeds her daughter. That quote makes me uncomfortable because no one should be pushed to believe breast is best and feel forced like they HAVE to breast feed if they don't want too. A better line in my opinion to use would be "Fed is Best".

I would recommend watching this series, it's fun, it emotionally draws you in, the characters are relatable and it's easy to watch. Screen NSW & Stan did a great job. So if you're after a series that has all of the above, definitely check it out.

Doctor Who: Revolution of the Daleks
(2021)

Unfortunately this special lacked excitement.
It was not an exciting episode, overall it felt rather blah. The writing was weak and things seemed rather coinvent in the story, while other things didn't make sense.

I hated the way Yas spoke to Jack, having a go at him because he's a man. Jack was there to rescue The Doctor and to essentially teleport the characters off the fake Tardis and that was it. Also why was the doctor upset with Jack? for what reason? Jack became the punching bag in this special.

I disliked the forced anger coming from Ryan against Yas, nothing about it felt natural. And They could have written a better script to write Ryan and Graham out of the story and they didn't even get a decent goodbye.

The writers tried to push Chris Noth's character to be the bad guy of the episode but actually he wasn't....he was just a character to be there in the background.

I honestly hope the writing gets better for the next season as it's becoming rather difficult to keep watching. Hopefully by then Chris Chibnall will no longer be the showrunner/ writer for the series.

13 deserves better as Chibnall's writing is leaving her with a bad name.

Wonder Woman 1984
(2020)

Does not compare to the first Wonder Woman film
Honestly this film could have been better, WB need to get better writers on board to work on their future projects because this writing is just embarrassing as a DC fan, who has read the WW comics.

The beginning of the film had Diana racing some adult amazon's in what looked like a Triathlon, what was unrealistic was Diana winning and that the adults couldn't catch up to her. This film started out rather boring and nothing made sense, the mall had a 1970s colour pallet, which by the mid 1980s, would have changed.

The casting was awful, Wiig was Barbara Ann/Cheetah and she didnt do a good job at all, her acting was weak and nothing about her performance felt like the actually characters. Pedro Pascal was Maxwell Lord and I wouldn't had known it if they hadn't of mentioned his name, he didn't look anything like Lord and I expected him to have darker hair. I actually think the man, whose body Steve took over would have made a better Maxwell Lord but instead they wasted his acting in the small role he got.

Parts of the film were predicable, like Maxwell Lord convincing Barbara to let him take this magical stone. Lord's son wishing him....not a surprise. The post credit scene...I mean duh we knew it was gonna be Carter.

I rolled my eyes at the part where somehow suddenly WW was able to talk to people over tv, yet wasn't on camera, nor was Lord and by using her lasso, was able to convince people to take back their wish......yeah what the heck was that all about? And she was looking at the camera, essentially breaking the 4th wall and talking to the audience. And I know movies tend to have a meaning to them but there are better ways to do that without being so on the nose. It just became cringy.

Also when Diana and Steve went to Lord's office, they said they didn't know where he was and suddenly Steve pulls out a plane ticket to Egypt, like they didn't even have to try it was just conveniently there in the bin. And how was Lord able to board a plane without his ticket?

I liked the part when Steve and Diana got into the plane and she had to tell him about radar technology. This part also showed the first time Diana could turn something invisible, it was cool that we got to see the invisible plane but it didn't feel natural...WW hasn't done this before on screen and has never mentioned having this ability so it felt like it just came out of nowhere.

But all in all, overall the movie okay, I might watch it again if I was bored and looking for something to watch and kill time. This movie wasn't good like the first one and if you compare the two, you'll be disappointed.

The story was all over the place, it's like WB had two or three different ideas for the film and just decided to add the whole lot together.

Black Books
(2000)

I heard it was meant to be good but wasn't.
I love the IT Crowd and was told Black Books was funnier but it unfortunately wasn't. Giving this show a 3 star rating is generous.

It's not a funny show at all, the main character is miserable, boring and unlikable. I do believe the show would have been much better without him. Manny, the man with long hair is not a bad character, he's actually alright and is the only thing decent about Black Books.

However if you are really bored and aren't sure what you want to watch but feel like watching something British. And you've already seen things like Afterlife and Dr Who etc, than Black Books will do and fill your time.

After Life: Episode #2.6
(2020)
Episode 6, Season 2

So beautiful and sad.
Ricky Gervais does it again with another wonderful season of Afterlife. This episode in particular was so emotional. By this episode you can see the character development in Tony, he's changing for the better and helping others (which is usually the message in most of his projects).

It was a great ending the the season but I really wish there were more episodes. Hopefully Ricky does write a third season as I believe it would be interesting to see by then, how much Tony really has changed. I'm excited as I read his tweet saying Netflix want another season, so fingers crossed.

Derek
(2012)

So beautiful and Amazing.
I only just recently watch this series and oh my goodness, wow. What a ride it takes you on. It's so beautiful to watch, the character Derek is very wholesome and caring.

Ricky Gervais is a great writer, he really knows how to pull your heart strings. Within this series there are messages, some include: It doesn't matter if a person is autistic, I doesn't change who they are. And you should help people because that's what life is about and it brings happiness.

Definitely worth a watch.

Bodyguard
(2018)

Absolutely amazing & interesting.
This one will keep you sitting on the edge of your seat for the 6 episodes it has.

I was hooked watching the first episode, I didn't realise just how good it was going to be. Tension, excitement and good writing, really made this series enjoyable.

It's about an man who went to war and came back and a job as security for a politician, which also involves terrorism. The writing is simple in a way, you aren't left watching the episodes feeling heavy, it's rather easy to watch and exciting.

I highly recommend you watching this, currently as of May 2020 it's available to watch on Netflix. You won't be sorry for watching this wonderful Tv series.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
(2018)

The best Spider-Man movie so far!
This movie trumps all other Spider-Man films and Marvel property. It's quite entertaining and made me laugh a lot. The humour wasn't forced like it is in the MCU and is genuine. It's a film that's suitable for both adults and children to watch. I highly recommend it!!

The Meg
(2018)

Don't waste your time.
Just awful, it's boring, not funny & not interesting. This film is poorly written, their actions don't make sense. A film student could write such a better script than this & it feels like a movie for simpletons.

The Confession Tapes
(2017)

Eye Opening
Wow, this show is incredible. It shows some of the dirty tactics police use to coerce innocent people into confessing to murder. You don't really think police would do that but to actually see it on video, is eye opening.

It's a must watch.

Black Mirror: Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too
(2019)
Episode 3, Season 5

Kind of a Black Mirror episode
Out of all three epidoes this one has the most technology in it. I just wish there was more of it in there though. This one doesnt give you the feeling that live is surrounded by technology everywhere you go like the previous seasons do. The story is alright, there are some questionable actions by a character which to me didnt make sense.

The writing on some of the characters didnt work, they feel forced and not genuine.

But i loved the idea of the new tech in this episode.

Black Mirror: Smithereens
(2019)
Episode 2, Season 5

Interesting story
This episode was about a man feeling guilty over being destracted by an app on his phone, while driving which resulted in him crashing and ending the lives of two people. The story does sort of keep you on the edge of your seat but once you learn Chris' reasons for what he does, it feels weak.

This episode was about pushing a message to not always be glued to your phone, which is the overall message of this season.

Its nothing like the other Black Mirror episodes but its okay.

Black Mirror: Striking Vipers
(2019)
Episode 1, Season 5

Okay.....
So this wasn't a bad episode and the idea of the technology, a VR type fight game was good. However this episode is based more around two friends who form a somewhat intimate relatioship with the help of a video game. The episode looked very much like a Black Mirror episode but didnt have much of a B.M feeling to it.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle
(2017)

Very good
With a 7 out of 10 on IMDb, it's understandable why this film did so well.

It's nothing like the original and doesn't try to be like it. It's, it's own film that pays homage to the Robin Williams original.

It starts with a young man playing video games on what looks like an atari console, who was handed a board game. After the game turns itself into an Atari cartridge, the young man plays the game and gets sucked in. 20 years go by and four teenagers find it and also join the game.

Jack Black stole the show, his portrayal as a teenage girl, who's trapped in a middle aged man's body, was perfect. While each actor did a great job, Jack's performance was the best.

The humour in the movie was good, it wasn't forced, like I've seen in other movies, its more authentic.

What I didn't like was the villain....he was very weak and it was horrible and boring to watch him.

At the end of the film the four teenagers go to check out the freak house, which is where Alex lived and went missing from (20 years ago). They stand on the road watching as a silver car pulls up and a man and his family hop out. Older Alex is played by Colin Hanks, and he spots the teens and walks towards them.

They immediately start talking as if they know each other and Alex somehow manages to guess all their names right. You think about that, Alex has never seen what they looked like in real life but yet somehow knows it's them from the game. If I saw four teens staring at me, I'd be freaked out and walk straight into the house....

But apart from that it was a good film, easy to watch, I'd be great to watch with the family. I didn't really think I would enjoy this movie, but it caught me by surprise.

I didn't see this in cinema, I watched this at home in my bed room and the film looked and sounded great. It would have been a good movie to watch in cinema.

I would recommend watching it.

Barry: ronny/lily
(2019)
Episode 5, Season 2

Um wow
This episode leaves you thinking and wondering where the story is going, which makes it interesting. It was strange but so good!

See You Yesterday
(2019)

Interesting
The film idea is interesting, slow to start. I loved the idea of time travel and CJ trying to save her brother, however this film could have been better or even longer. It had so much potential I felt like there wasn't much happening, while they were travelling I was still waiting for something interesting to happen. It shows the stuff ups and learning experience of the teens but it doesn't really offer more than that.

One thing I noticed which I'm not sure was done on purpose or they just threw continuity out the window, was a police officer. In the beginning of the film one of the cops was a darker man and then by the end of the film, it was a different actor of another race....hmm.

I enjoyed Michael J Fox's little appearance, that was actually funny.

Overall it was an easy movie to watch but it's just not that exciting but it's still a little interesting at the same time.

Wine Country
(2019)

It was alright
It wasn't as bad as I thought it was gonna be. it's the typical movie where a group of friends go on a trip, have slight disagreements and then come together in the end after spending most of their time feeling apart. Nothing special. It was a good film to put on when you are bored out of your mind. The story was basically a nothing story, hardly anything happened. Yeah.....would I reckon it?........um.......only if you're bored or you want something playing in the background instead of silence, yes.

Dead to Me
(2019)

Has a good plot.
I just finished watching dead to me starring christina applegate and linda cardellini. It's a new netflix original series with 10 episodes. Now what i enjoyed about the series was the different, twisted take on the friendship between Jen and Judy. If you've watched all 10 episodes you know what i mean. So jen (christina) and judy (linda) meet at grief counseling, where judy quickly introduces herself to jen and tries to befriend her. Jen just lost her husband, he was involved in a hit and run accident.

Linda Cardellini's character, Judy is quirky and weird but in a humorous way. She's the one who can have fun and see the best in everyone, while hiding a secret. Jen is very much a stoic person (most of the time) who, unlike Judy is not spiritual and will often say whatever's on her mind without thinking about other people around her.

Jen has two children with her deceased husband, both boys are having troubles at school, one is selling drugs and the other has anger issues.

Some people have said that this show is like Grace and Frankie, only darker and in a small way I can understand that but don't go into watching the show thinking it's like that, because at the same time it isn't like Grace and Frankie.

It's fun watching these two characters come together and be friends, they have a great chemistry and they really work together.

There were a couple of things however that I didn't really like about the show. One being that Nick (Judy's ex boyfriend) all of a sudden assuming Judy killed Jen's husband, Ted.

There was some evidence found at the scene, which was a taillight of a car. Information had came back finding that it belonged to a '66 mustang (the same model Jen owned) Nick was helping Jen find Ted's murderer by paying a visit to all the people who owned a that model car in the area. So even after Nick and Judy had split, he continued looking at people on that list. One name was TRK Arts, which we later find that Steve (Judy's Ex-fiance) runs. When Nick goes to pay them a visit she spots some of Judy's artwork in the window and immediately gets suspicious. He walks in and asks about a mustang, the younger worker knows nothing of a mustang and gets her boss, steve. When Steve introduces himself Nick knows who he is. Nick asks about a mustang and asks does it belong to Judy. Now Nick quickly assuming was so out of character...there was no reason for him to believe that Judy owned the car, I feel like the writer's were rushing the whole idea of the other characters finding out, way too convenient, which Is just poor, lazy writing in my opinion.

The plot twist at the end really had me, Steve went to find judy at Jen's house, he sees Jen outside in her backyard. He's behaviour towards her quickly changes when she tells him that Judy told her that she hit ted. At this point in the show, Steve's life has started to crumble and I can understand that he was nervous and trying to defend himself against Jen (who asked why he didn't stop to check on Ted) but it was too sudden and too convenient to the story. I felt that the writers had made a quick decision to make Steve the bad guy of the story when we had previously not seen him as that.

So now here comes the big spoiler! Jen kills Steve and he ends up floating in her pool. Jen surprisingly calls Judy to come over and I assume to help her get rid of his body.

The show ended with Jen and Judy looking at steve's body face down in the pool.

Dead to me is a show that you can watch and not think about and there are moments where the story does get a little interesting, thinking back to it, the plotis a sociopath moving in with their victims family and gaining their trust. That's just SICK! It's twisted!

It definitely felt like the writer's were writing for a show with 24 episodes but had forgotten that it was only 10, with the way they rushed the last couple of episodes.

However for me, this wasn't a show where I was so excited to watch, I didn't actually binge watch it, like I would normally do in like a day. It did take me three or so days.....that doesn't make me a binge watcher does it lol.

I would recommend watching it, it's definitely a show to put on when you want to kill time.

Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile
(2019)

Interesting
I liked the film, Zac Efron was amazing as Ted Bundy! I originally didn't know how I would feel about him being Bundy, but it was a good choice. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the choppiness, they didn't show him committing the crimes. Even though I know the story and I know what he did, not showing his crimes actually left me not hating him...it almost left me feeling like he's innocent.

Certain things like when they police were measuring his jaw size, were over dramatised but overall, wasn't an issue for the movie.

The ending was good. I recommend this film, it's easy to watch and is enjoyable.
