Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire
(2024)

Best Kong and Godzilla Movie!!!!
This movie to me was on par with all the avenger movies. In fact, they took the boring fights and running typically Godzilla one-dimensional plot and they turned it into a brilliant story-fairy tale-adventure.

The script is brilliant. It is finally a story and well thought out. Lots of emotion, lots of action and many twists. No longer it is me-kong... me godzilla...me fight and destroy u and buildings...arr...arr. No! It is now a re-watchable story with a great plot!

Gorgeous camera work, no shaky cameras, beautiful pans of all the scenery. You can appreciate all the SFX and the world-building;

A solid 10/10. I'll be rewatching it in a couple of year and I can't say that for most movies.

Halo: Thermopylae
(2024)
Episode 7, Season 2

BAD Directing And The Worst Camerawork I've Ever Seen
CGI fail galore from artificial camera shake in production, to artificial post production blur everywhere to lack of complete understanding by the director that human eyes don't shake.... Complete lack of common sense. The camera is worse than an old camera from 2010 without any stabilization. ALL footage is very shaky. Some of it is due to poor directing, atrocious camera work and then artificial post production extra shake... So most scenes are a blur.

If this director wanted us to enjoy the scenes, background and the details, it would've been shot differently, but everything was set to hide 100s of flaws. Tell me, can you see the details? Pores in skin? Sharp details of all the things? NO!!! Everything is a Gaussian blur in post production. All action scenes were filmed in 24p(frames per second) and so that's already blury + added extra post blur + bad camera work and those scenes are unwatchable.

And that's before I get to the actual story that so far isn't making a lot of sense...

Who wants to open up a gofundme to buy this director a camera stabilizer?? Seems like they spent all the money on CGI, nothing left for good cameras and the stabilization.

Epic Dark Fantasy
1. Beautifully filmed. Camerawork is really good. No shaky nonsense crap. Each shot and scene were a pleasure to experience, to watch and enjoy. Most don't care or notice as they get used to watching blurs on screen and it's great for a change to see a movie where you can pixel watch every scene . Halo show is an example of the worst camerawork created due to poor directing and camerwork where it's 1/10. This show is 10/10 as even at 24p, you can still see the details!

2. Solid directing on every level.

3. Very strong acting. Many of us know the actress and she has a bright future as she was captivating the minds of many for a few years now. More hair suits her better ;)

4. Good fairy tale-type story that was very well done. The script was very good and it carried the movie without any issues. Scripts often can break a movie and I am glad to see they took a story that wasn't that unique overall, then they made it unique, made it the way it was never done before.

At present, the movie is highly underrated. Lots of haters didn't like the fact the lead characters is a female so they've been down voting it.. It's unfortunate we still have petty folks who can't just enjoy a movie without either trashing it due to their own insecurities, racist or other views.

9.3/10 I can see myself rewatching it sometime in the future again.

Halo: Reach
(2024)
Episode 4, Season 2

Message to the Director: Attrocious. Read to learn why
Prequel: I can't believe someone signed off the the mess of the worst camerawork seen in years!

It applies to previous episodes too,but episode 4 takes the crown as the most horribly shot movie/tv show in the last few years. An absolute fail from directors, producers to cameramen.

1. Learn what 24fps is. Learn the relation between movement vs 24fps vs brain. There are calculation that can be made, though in essence you CANNOT use 24p and use not only fast action that blurs any kind of action to the human eye, but also you absolutely failed at the fact you added various camera shakes on top

Many scenes are absolutely unusable, all we are seeing is some kind of action, blurred by fast panning/movements + fast action and excessive in camera and/or possibly post-production camera shakes. Some of those shakes even look fake. Did you have the audacity to add a camera shake in post???!! WHY?

2 I want to teach you the key in directing: Viewers want to see the details of everything we see. If there's action, we want to see it. If you are a good director, you don't have to hide bad acting, bad action, bad sfx,bad background staging and stunts into camera shakes that blur and hide all of YOUR flaws!!

When we watch action scenes we want to enjoy the mastery of beautifully staged scenes and every detail and though you WOULD HAVE put into creating it Learn the key simple fact. Good action does not need camera shake to show it is action!! We have eyes, we can see it!!

3. You need to educate yourself on the current tech in the TV world. I'll give you a hint: OLED TVs... Here's common sense for you: You shot high action, high camera shake in 24p( lol.but ok, most directors are sheep who follow the trends, nobody understands human eye and brain anatomy these days or even why 24p was introduced) then you put that on TV screens that have various lags. OLEDs TV cannot handle that at all so if it's a fail on any other type of screen, you just alienated a massive number of viewers because their TVs can't handle it. Who do you shoot for? You or the viewers. If it's viewers then why the heck do you not use common sense??!

4. Let me know if you want me to buy you a steady cam or teach you how to use it, if you've never heard of it.

** Bottom line: learn to use the mastery of camerawork, directing and staging to wow viewers in all aspects of the scene so that we can appreciate EVERY ASPECT of the staging. That requires the very simple understanding of current technology and what viewers want and it is NOT camera shakes. Human eyes and our vision don't shake when we move so why would YOU start shaking it for us?? Where's common sense?!?

================= PS. OLED, Qled and mini-led tvs were used to watch. Barely watchable on qled and mini and unwatchable on LG C3 OLED, even with adjustments to add fake frames. It's that bad!

Anyone But You
(2023)

Read the reviews, do NOT follow the fake rating
The rating currently is fake. This movie wasn't reviews that many times nor is the current rating 6.5(was higher before) This a B- movie with really bad acting. I am very surprised it is in theaters considering the really bad acting, really 1-dimension story that was overdone, yet they did it in really boring way. They say it's a comedy yet I smiled only 3 times in the entire movie.

They took a bunch of good looking actors and attempted to make a movie, forgetting the script is the most important part of a movie. The script is just bad. The robotic dialogs or semi-robots aren't fun to listen.

I am rating it as a 3 for the 3 times I smiled for the so called comedy.

The Marvels
(2023)

Marvelously Bad
It's hard to describe the failure of this movie which is an embarrassment to some of the actors and the whole franchise as this was one of the worst movies I've watched in a long time. There's simply nothing good in it and I couldn't wait for it to end as it dragged and dragged.

1. Horrible acting by most, just ok by some, even when we know they can act better. It was really bad, there was no real emotion and fake. It was just very very fake. Some actors weren't chosen properly as well. As in, the Indian family couldn't act at all! You want to see some good acting by South Asian actors? Go watch Shantaram! This was like 1/10. Other well known characters were also not very good

2. Story was boring, plane and lacked of any kind of depth or thrill to get you into it. The script was very, very poor.

3. Directing was embarrassingly bad and one of the reasons acting was bad too. It seemed they took 1 take of everything and then poorly stitched the clips together. At times it felt they weren't even at the right time. Seemed like they selected all the clips then push the button called" put those clips together in a movie...

Little humor, poor acting, lacking fight scenes out of the Power Ranger TV show( you know what I mean...)

Ted
(2024)

American Dad/Family Guy 2.0!!!
What do you take by mixing American Dad with Family Guy then add more dark humor and adult language? You get THIS!!

Yes, not for everyone, but if you enjoy dark humor, jokes that make you shake your head in exclamation of "they didn't just say that" then this is for you.

I wish this would be an on going TV show I can watch every week. I absolutely loved it. The episode 2 was probably the most disturbing out of all of them and I LOVED IT.

If you read a bad review, it's probably from those who expected a cute story about a teddy bear and a boy and completely missed the concept.

PS. I'd love to have Jim Carr involved in the future episodes. He is so good and I think they both can come up with some amazing episodes.

Lift
(2024)

3.9/10 No Humor No Drama No Story and... No Lift
I found it boring. Boring dialog, boring actions, felt very low budget in many ways, from camerawork to lighting to music to script to directing. Despite low action, it was shot in 24p( standard horrible way) but in a way that introduced a lot of blur) again, nice attempts at panning, but failed on editing or the proper cameras or both.

The script is pretty bland. A predictable story we've seen in TV shows and movies 100X. Some parts of the script made no sense at all. Feels like some soap opera writer who decided to create an action, but failed to fact check everything.

Felt like an episode of a tv show that ran 45minutes too long... Now, if they would've removed 45minutes of useless content there would be an ok 6.3/10 TV show.

Based on a True Story
(2023)

Amazing Dark Comedy!!
A great dark comedy to those who enjoy these type of movies and TV shows. Let's get's the out of the way that dark humor is NOT for everyone. Some enjoy and some prefer other humor, which is fine. Many reviewers openly state it's not what they watch, it's not they expected so those people shouldn't watch and review something they should've have watched!!! Basic common sense, people!

The show mixes an interesting modern story of fame with serial killer type plot and for what it is I am giving it a 10 as we need more shows like this.

The acting is good by most, the script is a bit shaky, but holds. There FAR FAR worse shows out there with boring horrible scripts and those are on many seasons as they target the general public.

This show is NOT meant to win acting awards This show is NOT meant to be as good as Dexter( that one was not a comedy in any way) This show is NOT meant for those who don't enjoy dark humor

I binged the whole thing in a 1 day, while boring "acclaimed" shows like. Boba Fet or Ashoka are so boring , I can't past 2-3rd episodes...

Can't wait for season 2!!!!

Leave the World Behind
(2023)

TV show made as a movie??
5.7/10. Would've been way higher if they just either made it longer to explain more or maybe made it into a TV show. Literally, it feels like a TV show plot and how it was directed.

A ton of dialogs went nowhere. A LOT of scenes starting to lead to somewhere only to be left behind and be unanswered at all. It's a mess in terms of cohesion. To me it felt as if they had 5 hours of footage and then they went on to cut it all out to make it into a 90min movie, cutting out all the necessary parts, dialogs, scenes and answers.

Good acting, an interesting script(overall). The ending is meh.

Another negative is how it was shot. Feels like it was shot at like 20p. 24p is horrible and I am sensitive to that( I believe all movies should be 48p++), but in this one, I was literally seeing slideshows in some scenes as if they were shot at even lower than 24. I mean, beautifully shot, just - it is what it is.

There's still a chance there will be a TV show - it makes sense to continue it after the movie - this is how little info was given throughout.

Freelance

So, so bad... Very sad boring movie with no humor
I like John and we all know he can play, but his skills weren't brought up at all. It was just bad. It looked like it was his first movie before he became famous and knew what to do, this is how bad it was!!

Then the acting of other. From horrible to bad. Nobody in this movie acted well.

Atrocious directing in every way.

The script was from a B- movie and it is one of the problem! For every dialog, I was saying to myself, "I wish he/she said this/that instead..." The movie wasn't funny. I couldn't understand if I was watching a drama or action or comedy. There was drama, sad cliche one... then there were some attempts at humor, but no actual humor made for some reason. I haven't smiled once. There was some B- action, badly filmed and directed.

The movie was just boring

Script 2/10 Acting 3/10 Action 5/10 Directing 3/10 Comedy: 1/10 Visuals/set 4/10

No wonder people are walking out and falling asleep. Boring movie.

Corner Office
(2022)

You will either LOVE it or Hate IT! No in between 8/10
Very interesting story with very interesting message. You will either love it or hate it. Love it because you will love the message, the story, the humor, actor's play. Or hate it because you created wrong expectations, don't have a good attention span, and couldn't get the message or the humor is not something you can understand. And this move IS quite funny.

The trailer certainly can imply and mislead some people who create certain expectation in their head instead of just enjoy the movie and the story.

All the actors did an amazing job. Beautifully played. I smiled many times how well they all played their roles. The expressions on the faces were just priceless.

Let's not forget the gorgeous cinematography! Some of the shots made me go wow. There's a lot of detail that was put into it, if you like that sort of thing and if you can see and appreciate it.

Solid 8/10.

Extraction 2
(2023)

10/10 Movie Ruined by HORRIBLE Camera Work
So, washroom was full of people suffering from those who were nauseous. Camera work is absolutely atrocious. One of the worst I've seen in a long time.

They took a high-explosive non stop fast-action movie that should've been shot in 60-120fps and they produced it at 24fps. Ok, sure, but then they went ahead and did not use a steady cam for NONE of the scenes. NONE. Any cell phone produced in the last 5 years produces less shaky video results. In fact, My old 5D II without any stabilization makes the exact same action. Put a $50 hand-made stabilizer and it's already 10X better than what was seen here.

Amazing action sequences absolutely ruined by one of the worst camera-work I've seen in many years. Many scenes are just not usable as all you see are blur(remember 24fps??) So Shaky blur of some action of some kicking and you can't understand what.

When I went to the washroom at some point, there were people walking around outside and I inquired why and they said, they felt nauseous! Of course! I go the washroom and there are a bunch of guys standing there saying the same thing.

Did the producers had no money for even a cheap steadycam? Did they spend all money for Chris and had nothing left? Even a few hundred $$??

************** Someone should re-edit this failure and digitally stabilize the footage so that it would be watchable ***************

BlackBerry
(2023)

5/10 Poorly Executed Creat Movie
I've been waiting for a movie about Blackberry and their fall as I was a huge proponent for a physical keyboard the security and the phone, yet the company refused to listen to the users such as myself who were offering advise on 100s of bugs all of their phones had, due to very narcissistic type of the management.

The first 15 minutes were very painful to watch, as I was trying to adjust and kept thinking" can I sit through this high school play for 1.5h"? It felt like a low production school play and at first I didn't know if it's a comedy, a joke or a real movie.

The camerawork is absolutely atrocious. One of the worst. It is shaky. The directors in 2023 could not afford a steadycam?? If you want to get nouseus, this epic-fail camerawork is for you... And don't tell me it's to showcase the 3rd eye/journalistic approach because that would clear show the 2nd point I will make bellow. Only amateurs use that approach, because they are unable to tell the story via story and good directing so they used this old outdated technique.

Really bad directing. Again one of the worst. I've seen some of the actors before and pretty much everyone in this movie played worse than they all did elsewhere. The director, who is also was an actor did a HORRIBLE job acting in the movie, just like very amateur directing. As usual, if you try 2 things, you will fail and he clearly did both.

If not for Glen, I would have walked away. But even Glen wasn't squeezed for the talent he has!

The story is also very shallow. There's very little information, details. A lot of fillers and fluff to fill the void. The current rating is just wrong. I am giving it a 5 and I am being generous. I am sad the shot at this story was taken with a low budget, bad story and bad directing, wasting a great moment of a Canadian history and I am sad as Canadians, we couldn't show we can match Hollywood!

4.9/10.

The Covenant
(2023)

Oscar Worth Action Eye Candy
Last time I was glued to the screen without blinking was during The Extraction movie and this is just as good. Army-action masterpiece from the 1st moment to the last 2nd. Masterfully executed. From the Afghanistan scenery to the tight script and amazing performance by all actors.

The script is emotional, makes you think through the movie as well as after.

Both Jake and Dar executed their roles beautifully. Massive props of course to the director as well for one of the best directed movies I've seen in a long time.

As I said before, the last time I enjoyed a movie as much was at The Extraction.

PS. Shout out to all the local and foreign fighters fighting right now in Ukraine for Ukraine and the rest of the World in the current WWIII(is it not??) It is because of their dedication to justice and peace we are still here, just like because of similar heroes we are not not under a Nazi regime as the same heroes fought in the WW2 for our freedom.

Murder Mystery 2
(2023)

American Cheese!
6.7/10 from me. Cheesy? Yes! Kind of stupid? You bet. Was it funny? Abso-lol-lutly! I was shaking my head, smiling and grinning the whole movie. It script is ridiculous and it somehow just was cohessive enough to work.

I watched the first one and didn't watch the trailer to the second one and came with very low expectations. I wanted a light-hearted evening to smile and the movie delivered the experience and exceeded my expectations. If you have a sense of humor, like to laugh at crazy and stupid situations, you will have a blast.

Will this win an Oscar? Not a chance, but will this deliver you 1.5 hours of good time? You bet!

Pinball: The Man Who Saved the Game
(2022)

UNDERRATED!! Feel-Good-Movie
Yes, 7.2 current rating as I write this is severely underrated for this movie. I can't imaging how damaged one has to be to give it a low score. I knew I am going to love this after about 10 second through the trailer so I never finished the trailer.

The narrating is hilarious, the mustage is just crazy funny. I was laughing at all the scenes with it as it was cute, gross, funny and weird.

All the actors did a great job and so is the directors of the movie. It is a gem. The story is great too and a part of the real history! I couldn't imaging how they could pull off a movie about a pinball yet it was done flawlessly at 9.3/10. Kept me entertained, laughing and smiling from start to finish.

Cocaine Bear
(2023)

Not Funny, Not Scary, No Story!
I haven't watched a movie so bad in many many months. I gave up 1h and 10 min through as it was just stupid.

Story and script are very very bad,. Feels like it was written by a high school student for a play, yet as a rough copy, which somehow ended up as a movie. It is THAT bad.

It was not funny at all, there was no ha ha moments it was just gross in a way it was setup, with subpar graphics and movie camera transitioning away from the gore on all the actions.

Acting. I've seen some of these actors in other movies and they did a much better job than here. Director did a horrible job with all of them. They all played like it was their first time on screen! Photography was bad too. I think they tried to portray 80s in it, yet it felt like these days. Just bad job all around

The movie is bland, the movie is NOT funny, It is NOT scary in any way. Horrible story that just stupid and not in a funny way - just stupid. Bad acting

1/10 and I am being generous here.

Magic Mike's Last Dance
(2023)

Good movie, beautiful dancing
6.6/10 from me. Absolutely stunning dancing choreography and I am a straight male. What puzzled me, if you read the negative reviews here, the majority of them are from men! That's right, jealous men watched and reviewed a movie that was essentially for women. Just puzzling how if it's not your type of movie then why did you go to see it in the first place?!

The movie has some flaws, the story is not complete, has some halls, Salma was a very questionable choice for the lead, the voice over of a child was pointless and not needed at all and that's the reason I took 3.4 stars, but when you take those aside, I ask myself if I enjoyed it and the answer was yes. The movie is enjoyable to watch, despite a number of flaws.

The Menu
(2022)

Tastefully Executed Prix-Fixe
I could not take my eyes off the screen for a second. The movie is beautifully done from the 1st second to the last 2nd. You have to watch it, think and engulf yourself with emotion at the same time. There was a lot of thought put into this movie and the script is brilliant. A lot of lines had subtle humor and you had to watch out for that. It's not a LOL comedy and it was never designed as such. Very original idea...tastefully...executed by everyone. Director did an amazing job with it and the actor all played their roles very well. +1 to all the leads who were stunning. Last 10 minutes wowed me so much, I yelled "wow, no way" at some point.

This is a movie you will either love or hate. I suspect a lot of 8s+ from one side and then 3-5stars from those who "didn't get it" and that's ok. There could be some who wanted some slasher Saw-type gore -sorry go watch that if you want dumb flicks. If this a horror masterpiece if you are willing to FEEL!!!

Violent Night
(2022)

Christmas Miracle!
Anyone giving less than a 7 did not watch it. It has everything for a cough...cough..."family" entertainment! It has X-mas miracles, love story, bad guys who wanted to ruin Christmas, the love story, the christamas wishes, laughter and spirit and...spirits and guns...lots of guns and blood and action lol.

There are a ton of classic happy Christmas movies, but not a lot of the other ones. It had shown perhaps the other side of Santa.

Why 8? Well... maybe lacked blood and humor perhaps. It was good and I really enjoyed it, but in the end I wished it was more. Though I have a feeling kids will be watching it too so maybe in that sense it was just enough gore.

The Recruit
(2022)

Laughable Nonsense
I forced myself to watch all the season and it took me a week. I wanted to give up after each episode, but I thought it will get better, but it just never did. Last few episodes were watched at 1.5x speed as it was impossible to sit through the dialog

The production value is good. The music is suspenseful, the camerawork is ok, though at times budget seemed to luck steadycam and they used the shakiness to give some "action" value - done by bad directors who can't achieve it via script.

The script is so bad, it 1/10. It is just nonsense. Without spoilers they are portraying CIA as a bunch of kids who kill each other, back stab each other, disobey orders, put their team in danger, lack any even common sense protocols and this goes on and on. It is just so poorly written, I was shaking my head most of the time. The dialogs are boring, long, little action, yet lack of any "thriller/suspense"; The main character didn't fit the. Seems like a good actor, but the script failed him. Anyone comparing it to Jack Ryan are blind. Jack Ryan is a 10/10 show. This is about 4/10 if I am being generous. Other characters were even worse at their roles. Many were not believable at all.

If you like fantasy nonsense bad script, no action and little to no story then this is for you. And worst of all, it ended in nowhere. Good shows are being canceled and this one is not one of them so I hope there will not be more. I certainly won't torture myself again for the 2nd round.

4/10.

Ming yat zin gei
(2022)

It's ok
It's ok, it had some good moments, some boring moments; there are some scenes I just did not understand at all for one reason or the other as they made no sense. Without giving any spoilers, I'll leave it up to you, but it just made no common sense for some to be...where no kids should be.. All 3 female actresses were not very good and may be it wasn't their fault but the fault of the directors and the bad script The story is very cheesey. I don't believe actors were right for this one, it just felt a bit amateurish and cheesy.

Script had a lot of holes.

I get it, it's a Sci-fi, but it should also make at least some basic common sense, and a lot of things did not throughout the whole movie.

5.2/10. Anyone giving it more than a 6 is probably involved in the movie... There are a lot better movies from China and this is not one of them.

Weird: The Al Yankovic Story
(2022)

Epic Parody
Amazing, truly amazing. I've heard of Al and I've heard a few of his songs over the years, but I never cared much, just like many other artists, but I knew many people who liked his music and were into his stuff.

I started watching it from the beginning to end I had a grin on my face that resulted in a painful jaw for days. It was one of the best movies I've seen. Creating a parody of himself and other documentaries is something that hadn't been done before and he nailed it perfectly.

All cast members were absolutely excellent. Not a single complaint. 10/10 directing and 10/10 script made this movie a true gem.

I wasn't a big fan,but I smiled and I laughed and after the movie I spent 2 hours watching Al's youtube videos. If you haven't, go and take a peek.

9.2/10.

Shining Vale
(2022)

Great Comedy Horror
I am very surprised by low rating and reviews considering so many amazing things going in this TV show. The acting is great, the story is amazing and the comedy!? Among so many boring horrors that are on every channel, it's great to watch one with a fun twist that will make you chuckle as you watch it.

Very good writing.

Initially I didn't think I'd like it as I am NOT into horrors as they are mostly boring and same-same old stuff I've seen 100s of times. Yet, as the first episode progressed, I knew right away it will be awesome and the show just got better and better from the 1st episode.

Hoping for more seasons!
