Race 3
(2018)

A clear winner in the race for "the most pathetic film ever"
A successful franchise, huge star cast, holiday release and SALMAN KHAN. "Race 3" has all the ingredients to make a perfect blockbuster masala entertainer and hopes to be Salman Khan's 4th entrant into the coveted 300 cr club. So does the 3rd film in the "Race" series match up to its predessors and the hype generated?. Lets find out.

Story: First of all, there is no story to review so this section should have been left blank. There is literally no plot, the characters are flat and one dimensional, there is no conflict, while watching the film I was wondering whether the person who wrote the film has any knowledge of basic storytelling or any sense of creativity. The dialouges are cring-worthy and it seems they were written by a 4th grader. The plot twists which are a trademark of the Race franchise are predictable and plain stupid.Even the most loyal of Salman Khan fans will find it hard to digest this joke of a screenplay which is lost in this 130 crore disaster of a film.

Direction,Editing,Production: I think Remo D Souza should just stick to being a choreographer as Direction is clearly not his cup of tea. His take of the Race series is a huge downgrade from that of Abbas-Mustan who gave the Race series its own trademark feel. The intelligent story telling of Abbas Mustan is clearly missing. You know a disaster is bound to happen when you give a below average director, a weak script and thats exactly what happened. The production design and Cinematography is top notch and slick which gives the film a stylish look.

Acting: Even an AI Robot can offer more expressions and better dialouge delivery than Salman Khan in this film. Salman Khan's casting is a complete misfit and you will definitely miss the suave Ranveer Singh played by Saif Ali Khan. Salman Khan comes out as a sore thumb and its pretty evident that he just sleep walked through the film. Unfortunately, Bobby Deol has made a forgettable comeback and he has again proved that he simply cant act. Daisy Shah and Jacquline Fernandes have simply been cast to up the glamour quotient of the film. Even a talented actor like Saqib Saleem is wasted. Only Anil Kapoor's performance is the sole saving grace of the film and he has done a commendable job given the pathetic script he was given to act for.

Music: This has to be one of the most ridiculous soundtracks of all time. Each and every song is just plain bad with even worse lyrics. The Allah Duhai hai theme song is the only hummable track in this disaster of an album.

Underline: No style and No substance. The film has clearly lost the race against its predessors and even a stupid Race 2 looks like Inception in front of this film. The only race this film wins is for "worst movie of the year" and its just June.

Kaabil
(2017)

Hrithik Roshan delivers his career best performance in an otherwise predictable film.
A blind couple are living a happily married life until tragedy strikes. How a blind person will go all the way to take revenge against the strong and powerful perpetrators of the crime forms the rest of the story. After the grand failure of Mohenjo Daro,Hrithik Roshan returns to big screen in his home production. Will he make a memorable comeback or Will it be a wash out just like his earlier release, lets find out.

Story: The story is a typical Rakesh Roshan underdog revenge drama like Karan Arjun,Khoon Bhari Maang etc.Plot wise the film has nothing new to offer and we can actually predict the course of film.Although credit should go to the writers for scenes which don't drag and carry the story forward. The story rides high on emotional content,Some of the dialogues are bound to bring in whistles at single screens. The build up upto the climax is pacy and there is not a single dull moment. The drawback of the screenplay is its predictability, although the revenge plan offers novelty and intelligent writing.

Direction,Production,Editing: Sanjay Gupta's direction is refreshing and a getaway from his usual green tinted frames. He is in top form. Some of the scenes could have been better executed especially the ones where Amit is fighting with Wasims father.Since its a small film the production values are on point, but the tacky visual effects and some locations could have been avoided. The editing is crisp for most of the part but there is a point in the film where 2 scenes seem jumbled up.

Acting: Hrithik Roshan is simply terrific. His effortless transition from an innocent family man to a rage filled revenge hungry man is just phenomenal. The way he has portrayed a blind character without black glasses is brilliant and flawless. He has proved it again with this film that apart from his near divine looks and washboard abs,he is definitely a powerhouse actor.Yami Gautam is nice in her small role. Both the Roy brothers have done a fine job in their negative roles and will manage to disgust you with their performance.

Music: Salim Suleiman's background score suits well to the scenes.Rajesh Roshan's songs sound very outdated and he simply doesn't have it in him anymore to deliver a chart buster soundtrack. If you are a fan of 90's music then you will find "Kaabil Hoon" and "Mon Amour" hummable, rest of the songs are a disappointment.

Underline: The film has immense box office potential as it will appeal to all sections of the audience. At single screens though this film is a sure shot winner.

I would have gone for 6/10 for this film but Hrithik Roshan's stupendous performance deserves an extra star,so I would go with 7/10.

Bãhubali: The Beginning
(2015)

India's answer to Hollywood!!..A must watch!!
250 crore budget.500 days of production.2000 junior artists for the war sequence,800 technicians. Bahubali-The beginning considered to be India's biggest motion picture till date, helmed by the maverick director S. S. Rajamouli clearly has colossal stakes riding on it. Will prove to be India's best or just turn out to be another big-budget dud?.Lets find out.

Story. Penned by KV Vijayendra Prasad, the plot has refreshing novelty that is not inspired by any mythological tale. The pace by which the story progresses is fantastic, neither it is too stretched nor it just races ahead. There is an interesting build-up to the climax. The sequence of unfolding of events leaves you at the edge of your seats and kudos should be given to the writer for a screenplay that keeps you hooked all the time. The only flaw in the otherwise brilliant script is that the romantic angle between Sivudu and Avantika seems half-baked.

Direction and Production. S. S. Rajamouli is at his best, the way he has handled the film is commendable. The effort put in by him and his team shows clearly in every frame of the film. The detailing of each aspect of the film,be it the costumes, weaponry, sets especially the grandeur of Mahamishti Kingdom make this film a visual spectacle. The VFX is outstanding, never seen before in Indian Cinema and it wont be wrong to say that they match up to Hollywood standards. Two scenes that that will simply take your breath away are;the waterfall climbing and the war sequences. I can vouch that these are the most well crafted scenes in Indian Cinema.

Acting. Prabhas plays the double role of Sivudu/Baahubali. He has pulled off both the roles with great ease. This is the best performance of his career till date. Rana Daggubatti is menacing as the villain Bhallala Dev. Ramya is brilliant. Sudeep has a small role but he plays his part with perfection. The rest of the cast overacts which is a big letdown.

Music The background is the best one which I have ever heard. M. M. Kreem's soundtrack is a brilliant. All the songs compliment the story and are well written.

Verdict. I go 9/10 for this marvel. The film is way ahead from the ones made in bollywood and will surely bring Indian Cinema into the big league.
