The Night Agent
(2023)

Great plot with potential for more
I liked it, I think they managed to get maximum out of what has obviously been a limited budget. There was a good story, fast pace and the plot kept developing nicely along the way. The downside was the dialogue and acting from several of the leading acts .... dunno if it was the limited experience from many of the actors or a too slobby directing, but some of the dialogue was really kind of corny....both the actual words as well as the way they were expressed. But all in all I felt well entertained throughout all of the 8 episodes and I'm looking forward to the next season which I can see is already being planned.

The Midnight Sky
(2020)

More about human relationships than a "standard" sci-fi
I really dont get those negative reviews.....sure if you are expecting a sci-fi action thriller like Alien, Total Recall etc you will most likely get disappointed (although there are some really nicely cut scenes from space as well). But this is more like a drama..a slow burner about human relationships first and foremost. I actually reminded me a lot about "Polaris" (another great sci-fi movie with George Clooney).....it has the same pace and atmosphere and like that one the sci-fi part is just a scene set to tell a story about humanity and emotions like love, loneliness and lost opportunities. I really liked the twist at the end.....at least I hadn't seen that one coming!! :-)

Den store stilhed
(2022)

Very touching and well executed family drama
I really enjoyed this movie.....of course as a debut for the director it's clear that the budget has been limited so don't expect magnificent cinematic scenes. But I'd say that everyone has been getting the maximum out of the available budget, and all the main characters are performing in a very convincing and moving way (it brought me close to tears a couple of times!). Of course the plot was probably somewhat predictable, but that is not really the point.....I'd say the emphasize is more on the relationship between the 2 siblings and how it develops as the family tragedy get's unfolded. I'm really looking forward to the next output from this talented director!

Los renglones torcidos de Dios
(2022)

Complexity before storyline
As other reviewers have indicated this one has a lot of similarities with "Shutter Island", but in contrary to that great movie this one from my point of view crosses the line between creating a meaningful storyline and just creating "smoke and mirrors". For me it's clear that the director has spent more efforts on holding the audience in a constant uncertainty about "what is real and what is imagination" rather than delivering an exciting plot. 3/4 into the movies I realized that I had really no clue what was going on and, even worse, that I didn't really care either! As many other reviewers are mentioning the book it's build on I might consider reading that one.....I might also consider (if I have a day with nothing better to do!) to watch the movie again....just to check that I didn't miss out on anything?

Speak No Evil
(2022)

Entertaining but pretty unrealistic
Not a bad movie, but at least for me it didn't meet the expectations.....simply too many parts where you are thinking "ahh, come on...really?"

Specially the ending was annoying
  • wouldn't someone threatened like that put up more of a fight?

  • if the family had really committed this as many times as indicated probably the police would have got them long time ago?

  • probably all those kids would have been able to tell someone even with their tongues cut off?

So all in all it started good, but the ending just left me with a "naahhh" feeling......if they had put more efforts into that part it would have been a much better movie....

The Invisible Man
(2020)

Great acting, but terrible storyline
Enjoyed the acting , but the storyline is ridiculous.....how can someone fake their death and then suddenly become alive again without any problems with authorities? How can someone make it convincing they have been made a prisoner in their own basement.....must have build up that wall from the inside? Etc etc.....a more realistic plot would have made it a much better movie.

Legacy
(2020)

Very amateurish
This says it all: In the beginning there is a scene supposedly taking place in Belgrad (Serbia)......later in the movie the leading role meets one of his opponents from that scene who then says" I should have killed you in Budapest (Hungary) when I had the chance!" The rest is at same level....bad directing, mediocre acting (Luke Goss is doing his best though...".......waste of time in general...........

The Informer
(2019)

Great B-movie
Great, tight thriller....definately worth a watch! Never heard of the leading male actor before, but Ms. Pike is as always great. Same goes for Clive Owen in a supporting role.

Glass
(2019)

Great movie....mainly for the insiders though
The movie fulfilled my (high) expectations.....as I loved both Unbreakable and Split. For those who haven' seen those 2 I'd think the whole story will be somewhat confusing though? So I highly recommend to watch both before this one. And yes, James McAvoy is brilliant. I gave it an 8 score, perhaps a bit too generous though? 🙂

The Predator
(2018)

Not THAT bad!
Agree, not exactly the peak of movie making....but if you need to kill a couple of hours on a rainy day it give you OK entertainment. I gave it a 6 score.....
