NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service: Reef Madness
(2024)
Episode 10, Season 21

Good Season Final
The best and worst part of this episode was Dr Nerd and kick ass agent romance - the best part is that it has ended - the worst part is that the kick ass agent is leaving and Dr. Nerd is staying - He should have been promoted to the Coroner comedy hour and agent Night stayed with the show . This episode had action, suspense , and some serious anxious moments - the story was a little involved and the rap at the end was too neat a package for the real world but it was good entertainment - if you want reality - watch the Discovery Channel . In closing I fail to see the producers attraction to keeping the wimpy Doctor - when David Macalomb was running the coroners office - his wimpy comedy was a nice break but making him an action romantic lead is just plain crazy.

The Rookie: Crushed
(2024)
Episode 7, Season 6

Awful Camera Work
It was hard to concentrate on the story lines in this episode because the brain dead producer/Director - show runner decided that strobe like Body Cam, Photo Cam, Video Cam and Dash cam would make the story more realistic , This is about the 4th or 5th time this show has done this and if they did this every week I would never watch it again. Plus the loop with Lucy & Tim's break up is not only ill advised it makes no sense and doesn't resemble any reality on this planet. Up until this 'Break Up " - The Rookie was one of my top two scripted shows on TV - it is fast becoming one of the worst TV shows I still watch on TV - and this Body Cam episode didin't help.

NCIS: Hawai'i
(2021)

I know why it was Canceled
I had rated NCIS Hawaii over NCIS after the second season when NCIS interjected the ludicrous Dr Nerd - Kick ass agent romance - but I discovered that the forced 3rd wheel addition of Sam Hanna never worked in season 3 - There was no chemistry between him and Jane and no reason for him to be in Hawaii and all his presence did was take away from the exciting , connected and popular series that was Season 2 of NCIS Hawaii - it is the classic case of a producer trying to fix something that isn't broken - will guess what - it got a decent series canceled - Netfix will not pick this series up if Sam Hanna is still throwing rocks in the entertainment wheel that once was NCIS Hawaii.

Line of Duty
(2012)

One of the Best
There is no doubt the Brits know how to provide drama, mystery and suspense in a way that captivates your imagination , Line of Duty does all that and more - it is devoid of humor for the most part , which given the story lines is understandable but a little humor would have been a welcome change of pace . Romance was a little stilted- and could have been more realistic if it opted for a TV- MA rating instead of a censored teenage rating of TV 14 - which I don't understand . This is an adult series targeting teenagers requiring muted action and romance to achieve a teenage rating . - I signed up to Britbox so I could watch season 6 and my trial ends in a few days - if there is no announced season 7 I will cancel my subscription.

The Rookie: Secrets and Lies
(2024)
Episode 6, Season 6

Tim & Lucy ??
This show was a 9 until the last 5 minutes - it has action, suspense , drama , humor and romance - so what went wrong. My first thought was the show runner went brain dead but than I realized that they are paid to change the status quo and to recharge a series even if it isn't broken . The relationship between Lucy and Tim was a reliable anchor to a show that thrived on action . Their relationship was taking away from Nathan and Bailey and if I had to guess that didn't sit too well with the star - My interest in the Rookie just took a serious hit - in the first place the reason for the break up was at best contrived and bears no resemblance to a real world reason to break up a solid relationship - I have to assume the show runner has never had a relationship and is at best 12 years old.

Zorro: Baile de máscaras para tres funerales
(2024)
Episode 10, Season 1

8-5-3
I enjoyed the first 7 episodes and gave them an 8 - and than the show runner decided to go off the rails and have Lolita marry the Captain in Episode 8 which dropped my rating to a 5 in hopes that the Captain would have a fatal accident before they actually hooked up after the wedding - so I watched episode 9 and that didn't happen and finished with episode 10 as the show runner preparing for a second season by destroying season one ala Fire Country and season 8 final of When Calls the Heart - i dropped both from and 8 & 10 to a 1 and haven't watched either since - I am not going to waste my time with a second season of Zorro if there is one.

Zorro: La boda
(2024)
Episode 8, Season 1

Not Good
I have been impressed with this series up until this episode - it has now strayed to far from the original that I will finish watching the last two episodes but unless something unusual happens in episode 9 - I will not be watching if there is a season 2 . When Lolita ask to marry the Captain at the end of episode 8 I instantaneously lost interest in episode 9 -but will watch to see if the show runner / Producer flinches and provides an out for the series . Lolita never marry's the Captain in any previous movie or series and her love is for Deigo and Zorro foremost - so this deviation is more than unwelcome it is a show stopper for me if it comes to fruition in episode 9 . Not sure why the Show runner felt it necessary to kill the long standing romance between Deigo and Lollita but it is a grevious error in my opinion.

Zorro
(2024)

Better than I expected
This series is almost a sleeper - I saved it to watch when I was bored and discovered it was worth the time . Despite the Spanish dubbed English I found the show captivating in that is was the same as all the other Zorro's but different enough so i wasn't sure where it was going . There have been a lot of Lolita's over the years but, Renata comes as close to Linda Darnell as anyone has in the last 80 years. She is played as counter point to the sweet Linda and captivating while doing it . The Spanish Zorro is OK but doesn't add much with his presence - the alter Zorro is more impressive as an acting presence - I gave this show an 8 - not because it is a great show but for some reason I can't wait to see the nest episode - I suspect the attraction is good writing , directing and suspense keeps me wanting to come back .

NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service: The Plan
(2024)
Episode 5, Season 21

Was an 8/9
I can't believe that the Dr. Nerd Jimmy and Knight romance is continuing to be a back ground theme in an other wise good show . It is disgusting , distracting and ridiculous - He should be Romancing Daisy Duck not a Kick ass Federal Agent and she should be hooking up with a man not a nerd. - the story itself was good - not one of the best but I would have gone to an 8 or 9 because I liked Knights dad - cool guy - my NCIS world at one time was a must watch NCIS and LA and NO if I had time - Until they drop the Jimmy - Knight loop I would rather watch NCIS Hawaii, Sydney and if I have time NCIS - I actually don't care anymore if I miss it.

Reacher: Fly Boy
(2024)
Episode 8, Season 2

Disappointing
I gave Reacher Season 1 a 9 rating - it was an excellent adult action , romance with humor series - one of the most enjoyable I watched in 2023 - by comparison Season 2 was devoid of romance and humor and the action was silly at times - the story itself was thin with predictable twists at the end that have been done a 100 times - I think jumping ahead in the authors intended progression of Reacher was a major mistake because the connection with the first season was all but lost - there was no chemistry between the new team members and the attempts to give us a bonding feeling with flashbacks was more annoying the illuminating - In short - this came no where near the adult action - romance season 1 series and a major disappointment - it was more like a Sylvester Stallone B movie - and not quite that good - they at least usually have some humor. Bring back Rosco for Season 3 and I might watch it.

Chicago Fire: Barely Gone
(2024)
Episode 1, Season 12

Terrible Homecoming
I was glad to see Severide back but the show itself left a lot to be desired - his welcome home after a years' absence was non existent - he appeared at different times in scenes and not in others creating a patch work for his presence and clearly he was not all there for the shooting of this seasons premiere - No explanation as to why he stayed away so long, or why he was back or if he had his old truck back ( they have 2 trucks and 3 LT's) - I can see his promotion to Captain in the future to clear up the chain of command mess - the writing for this episode was sub standard and the direction could have been better but the showrunner is primarily responsible for this convoluted story that had no explanation or direction. Seven is the lowest rating I have ever given this show.

Reacher: New York's Finest
(2024)
Episode 6, Season 2

Not getting better
I rated the first 4 episodes a 5 in hopes that Roscoe would return to save the series ( knowing that was very unlikely ) - but Season 1 is totally unconnected to Season 2 - there is no warm fuzzy that connects the two except Reacher - who is also different - he was precise , funny, sexual, and in control - this Reacher is not , I won't repeat the excellent reviews that pointed out how ridiculous and ludicrous the fight scenes are , or how there is zero chemistry between the characters and certainly the most wooden romance I have seen since the last Hallmark movie - this is not an adult series and would be fine on Network TV where realism is censored and thinking isn't required.

Magnum P.I.: The Big Squeeze
(2024)
Episode 20, Season 5

Good Season Final
I was looking forward to a good Series Final and what I got was a good Season Final that left me flat and uninspired to watch reruns . The show itself was pretty good , action , romance , humor and some drama - but the ending was clearly designed for a Season 6 to resolve Magnums commitment phobic resistance to marriage , even with his arms around a receptive Higgins - I still gave it an 8 for a good show and a nice try at an ending but it just missed the mark - the ring should have been for Higgins - not Rick and it would have made a world of difference in how I felt about watching reruns - nothing really changed from the ending of Season 4 except a build up of the Magnum - Higgins romance to a season 5 ending let down.

Mai Demon: Breaking Through the Shell
(2023)
Episode 10, Season 1

Hard to top
I am glad I waited to right a review because after episode 9 I as thinking ' Here we go again " with a great ( if not mysterious ) romance turning into a dark melodrama - as have seen too many K - drama romances over 12 episodes turn into . - the Show runner seemed to have righted the romance ship with episode 10 and provided a decent baseline for resolving the romance and drama over the last few episodes - the casting is perfect , acting excellent , directing kept the story moving - the lead actress is a delight - I am looking forward to the fantasy romance going forward - which is more than have said with other K- Romance dramas that left me cold after mid series . The reason for a 9 and not a 10 is my past experience with K - Romances - I am 10% skeptical that I will enjoy the ending .

Reacher: A Night at the Symphony
(2023)
Episode 4, Season 2

Disappointing so far
Admittedly - Season 1 of Reacher set the bar pretty high but season two isn't coming close - besides from the actors not working well together and a poor story - hard to put my finger on exactly what is wrong except that Season 1 was an adult action drama , this one seems to have come out of the Hallmark stable of series for kids - the fight scenes are silly and unreal , the romance is wooden if at all , the one sex scene so far was straight out of the evening censor catalog of how to have sex with your close on - there is hope for a recovery but I am not holding my breath , but I will watch the rest of the series in hopes that Roscoe returns to save the day and the series .

Meg 2: The Trench
(2023)

Exciting but Ridiculous
I gave the first Meg an 8 ( a better rating than most ) because it is my kind of movie and understandably not for every one - Jason Statham my kind of action hero but even he couldn't make up for the ridiculous story that was about a realisticly possible as Donald Trump giving birth to an alien - you have 3 Megs this time but also prehistoric amphibious dogs and an octopus the size of the Chrysler building coming out of no where - this combined with little humor and no Romance ( Bing Bing would have made a difference ) - this movie could easily have been rated PG - no bloodshed , no foul language that I could tell and the creature violence was not frightening and almost humorous and no sex unless you count girls in a bikini - I would have been comfortable taking my 10 year old to this movie - some Disney cartoons are more violent.

Treadstone
(2019)

Worth one Watch & One Season
I managed to stay with this series through all 10 episodes. That is why I gave it a 5 - the ending was disappointing but understandable - it is obvious the show runner was planning on several seasons to straighten out the mess he made of this one. Cooler heads prevailed and cancelled this confusing conglomeration of action going nowhere after one season . To try and keep track of 4 separate Manchurian candidates with different agendas or perhaps 3 1/2 since one kept saying he was no traitor despite killing people he didn't know for no reason - if they cut the number of stories down to 2 , made a 1 hour and 45 minute movie out of it - it might have worked and approached Bourne quality For those reviewers that gave this series a 7 or better I can only assume you enjoy being confused and like a series with no ending .

Destined with You
(2023)

WOW
This series was an emotional roller coaster - I am rating the series a 10 but rated episode #12 a 4 - I was so discussed with the direction and complications being thrown in at the same time - but the show runner unraveled the complications and mystery over the next 4 episodes that totally flipped my opinion about the series - it was scary, heartwarming and off the charts romantic before it was all over - it had story loops not seen in most K Romances - Hallmark would not have approved of how close the two Romantic leads got in the last few episodes - I certainly do - the Romance came much closer to a 21st century romance than any Hallmark Romance designed for 12 year old's will ever get.

Magnum P.I.: Hit and Run
(2023)
Episode 11, Season 5

Getting Better with each episode
It is nice to finally have a Leo for a show runner - Starting with the second 1/2 of Season 4 and carrying on to the second 1/2 of Season 5 - the romance between Higgins and Magnum is hitting on all cylinders - combined with exceptional stories , good action and a little mystery and perfect humor timing - it is a shame this show is ending - I could envision a season ending marriage with Robin Masters finally appearing and a season 6 morphing into a Hart to Hart actions series - given the actors haven't signed new contracts yet - it is not too late - the ending on Episode 11 was off the charts great - the story was exciting and different on so many levels - I think you can see my disappointment that there will not be a season 6 - so far :)

Destined with You: Episode #1.12
(2023)
Episode 12, Season 1

Going off the rails
I have rated the majority of the episodes through Episode 8 either a 9 or 10 - but since then I have been watching a slow death of an exciting romance as it is morphing into a Mysterious melodramtic dark morass - culminating in episode 12 .- In the vast majority of my reviews I have tried to avoid spoilers but this one deserves and explanation . When one romantic lead kills another in a former life and those dreams recur in the present throwing a major damper on a continuing relationship - It makes me wonder if the showrunners haven't been changed or the writers have been given direction to kill the romance - I hope I am wrong because I have invested 12 hours in this series and will see it to the end but with much less enthusiasm I had going forward from Episode 8.

Special Ops: Lioness
(2023)

Could have been better
With a cast like that - it was disappointing and I love Government Action Spy shows - like Jack Ryan etc. To sum up it was a melodramatic action morass. The home story lines were unnecessarily long and too detailed and took away from the story line - the main character was an action hero until she almost had a nervous breakdown during the OP and the writers wrote in a wet op lynch pin with more flaws than a broker glass - She was trained to be a killer but apparently wasn't told that for some reason and blew up at her boss when she did her job and blamed her boss for making her what she was - really realistic - I will be surprised if there is a season 2.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: Subspace Rhapsody
(2023)
Episode 9, Season 2

It Worked for Me
I hate musicals - I walked out of "West Side Story " 1/2 way through the movie - the only musical I ever enjoyed was " The Sound of Music" - so I expected to follow one of the other reviewers and fast forward through this episode in 10 minutes - Instead I found it to be fun and would have been a 10 except you can't torpedo 2 romances on me and get a 10 - Why it worked for me is pretty simple - instead of 2 warring gangs breaking into song for no reason ( West Sid Story ) - the writer gave them a reason for their strange behavior - al be it contrived - it still wasn't singing for singing sake instead of conversation - I am losing track of which time line I am watching - is it the William Shatner time line or the Chris Pine time line - Carol Marcus disappeared in the Chris Pine time line and was Married to William Shatner and had a kid but nurse Chapel never had a thing for Spock in the original time line - and the confusing goes on.

The Witcher: The Cost of Chaos
(2023)
Episode 8, Season 3

For Kids no Adults
Very disappointing - what was an adult series morphed into a CW version of pablum action. The entire 3rd season was a mess without direction, explanation, romance , humor or sex let alone the advertised nudity - as for a send off of Henry Cavill - it was awful to say the least - I am not sure what the show runners were thinking I can only imagine they weren't - this show was at best a TV 14 rating and close to a TV - PG and more suited for my 12 year old grand son than me - this was a classic example on how to ruin a really really good series by over thinking what the audience wants - the advertised adult 3rd season series was misrepresented at best and down rite a lie at worst - the 4th season is no longer on my watch list.

Vampire Academy
(2022)

Should have been Better
First of all - I have not read the books that most reviewers seem to have a problem with the series not being faithful too. It is a rare movie or series that comes close to being faithful to a book - forget the book and enjoy the show or don't but don't criticize an apple for not being an orange - this series suffered from lack of direction - the show runner didn't really know what audience he/she was trying to appeal too - rather than telling a good story it was just full on conflicts, romantic, political and horror - without any depth . There was language that would push this rating to an R and enough nudity to push the limits of PG - 13 and Peacock complained after cancelling the series after on season that it missed the younger CW type audience it was shooting for - it is obvious Peacock need to know what they are buying before signing up - Having said that I would like to see Netflix or Amazon Prime pick this series up and turn this into a adult series - Vampires always work for me.

The Girl in the Woods
(2021)

Not for most
I agreed with one of the reviewers to watch the first episode and not to rush to judgement - If I had been 12 - I might have actually watched the second episode to completion - this is basiclly CW material for all those who can't vote yet . - I gave it a 3 because the acting was above average - but they had nothing to work with - the story made Hans Christian Anderson look like a non fiction writer by comparison - the basic story is so far fetched as to lose almost anyone with a ounce of interest in reality - Walt Disney wouldn't touch something so ridiculous and ill explained in a 1000 years. Peacock has to raise its standards if it wants to complete with the big boys.
