Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire
(2023)

Wants to be a Star Wars Flim
Well, the first 5-10 minutes, I'm thinking this is a Star Wars film! The spaceships make similar noises as tie fighters, theres a "dreadnaught" battleship, the "bad" guys wear Nazi like uniforms and everything is glum and dark.

I was thinking "this director really wants to make a star wars film!" They even had light saber style weapons, and there bar scene with strange creatures from around the universe just like the Star Wars Cantina.

Oh, and if we had removed all the Slow motion scenes we'd probably get back 30 mins ! (Joking) but it was over used.

Was bored with the film and yeah, the ended was predictable. Lol! How many parts of this film are coming??

The Creator
(2023)

Surprisingly good
I was expecting some B grade acting and special effects before i sat down to watch this. You know, yet another movie based on A. I. It started off pretty good and actually continued. Special effects were great, fitted in with the filma and they were well done.

Some parts of the film were cliche, but there was some original aspects to it though. The robotics were well done. I wasnt sure if we were loosing storyline by not understanding the foreign language scenes a couple of times.

The ending was "typical hollywood" with a sacrifice from the "good bad guy".. All in all it's a good ride and I would recommend this film.

The Covenant
(2023)

WOW WOW..
Definitely not expecting to be on the edge of the seat like this throughout the majority of the film. Starts off slow, but the tension picks up for sure. Thought it was going to be a "boiler plate" Hollywood film but far from it.

Saw a "similar" film that was total crap, this one is waaaay better than I was expecting.

The main two leads had great performances. The music score was great - worked well with the suspense and drama.

It feels like there are two distinct sides to the story, for each of the leads being the saviour in each part.

Overall its a good solid film.

Well done to everyone involved.

Moonfall
(2022)

wow.. how bad can a film get...
I can't believe how bad this film is.. no really, that bad. I thought F9 was bad, but this takes the cake. Soooo much money wasted on this film, can't believe they made this.

Has a range of decent actors in it, but for the most part the storyline and acting is really bad. I ended up watching it to the end just for laughs, and boy did I get a lot.

Guy knows electronics sets off the alien attack, but brings his cell phone to space?? Wow..

And the remote control for the EMP bomb.. oh boy..

Just gets worse and worse as the film progresses. Feels like a rip off of so many other films but not executed remotely well..

oh, and cell phones are still working as the world is being destroyed?? Lol...

Must have cost a $$$$$$$$$$$$ for all the CGI involved in this film.

OMG the final 20mins was something ridiculous. Lol.

The phone still works!!

What are the chances of the ending working out like that...

Thirteen Lives
(2022)

Amazing..
I've watched the Documentary "The Rescue", and in this film we get even more details on how the events unfold. Definitely know it wasn't an easy task to take them out but wow.. this film really shows some of the perils and decision making that happened.

The Rescue
(2021)

A rare 10/10 from me
The 10/10 - why, because it showed a how much of a struggle it was going to be to get those boys out. Even if you knew the outcome its still very riveting and emotional. Helped to put a lot into perspective.

From across the world we only got to hear and see what the media reported. It was nice to hear the thoughts and feelings from several of the main people involved.

The Addams Family 2
(2021)

Boring and we were glad it was over when it was done
I watched this with kids and we all didn't really get into this this one. The first one was much much better, but this was feeling very disjointed and the jokes were lame/not funny. I was expecting it to be much better, unfortunately it wasn't.

I think the only fun scene was Niagara Falls , and only because we know that area so it was interesting.

The Ice Road
(2021)

Just like what a 90s film would be like
Going in I had an idea that this would be "interesting".. started off ok, but then the acting, plot and dialog just reminded me of many 90s era films.

As soon as Lawrence fishbone scenes finished, I knew it was not going to be a good film.. but a "pay check" film for him, I guess, the next Bruce Willis? And Now Liam Nielson will be completing with Nicolas Cage for these crappy films?

Cosmic Sin
(2021)

wow.. can so much money be spent on something so crap?
First 5 mins and you see things like jukeboxes, motorcycles , cars from the 20th century! WHAT? This is set in 2542 or something?

Total joke and an embarrassment. The "armour" suits they had on looked like halloween costumes made by school kids. Another paycheque film for Willis. I can't believe he would like to be associated to this .. unbelievable.

Breach
(2020)

What a load of garbage
Wow. Seriously, I knew this was going to be a pay day film for Willis, because I never heard of it, and within 2 mins I was rolling my eyes.. set in 2248 or something and the characters are dressed in clothes from the 80s or 90s or something. In fact if this film was made in the 80s it would fit right in - still a bad sci fi, but the effects and sets are so budget. Was this filmed in some eastern European place on a budget?

What a Joke Bruce Willis - the new Nic Cage for "pay day" films.

Pacific Rim
(2021)

Much better than I anticiapated
Its much better than I anticipated. Definitely a lot darker and than I expected. I'm not an Anime Nerd, so not sure how this compares in terms of "Anime" but from a casual watcher it seems pretty good. Hopefully we get more episodes/seasons

Raya and the Last Dragon
(2021)

ok movie story, animation is excellent
Amazing animation, some funny scenes. But like a few others said, something is missing. Was a bit disappointed overall.

The Mandalorian: Chapter 16: The Rescue
(2020)
Episode 8, Season 2

wow........... just wow
Season 2 was amazing, and this episode made my mouth drop in astonishment. This *is* the Star Wars I remember!!

when the XWing flies in ... when The Helmet comes off for Grogu ...

Wow!

Enola Holmes
(2020)

Fun flick
Fun flick. Henry Cavil, a bit out of place, but enjoyed this overall.

There were some good funny moments, the "I know jujitsu" line was hilarious

Outside the Wire
(2021)

"All due Respect"
Ha ha! The cliche language in this film made me laugh.. I started to play a drinking game everytime the line ""All due Respect" was used.

Robotic CGI scenes are good, but for for it being set in the future, there was so many things that would have advanced by 2036. They should have just said .."in the near future"

Lots of plot holes and "prop" holes. Ie. The type of vehicles being used etc... remember, the film is based in Europe - the Ukraine area..

Fun NetFlix film, that's all it is.

Had this come out 25 years ago, it would have been better rated

Fatman
(2020)

Some good laugh out loud moments..
Not exactly what I was expecting, and definitely a lot more violent than I thought it would be, but suited the story. There were a couple scenes which did make me laugh out loud a few times.

Few continuity goofs in the film, but could be expected at this budget perhaps?

Oh, and a few people complain that Mrs Cringle was cast as a Black woman, well, the idea of the film was for it to be mixed up a bit, and not really made "normal" in the sense of "traditional' Santa Claus story and perception right???

The Ripper
(2020)

Overall a very good view of the account
Overall, this is a very good account of the happenings during this time. I like the fact that news footage and information is used to present the story. Does go on for probably 1 Episode/hour longer than needed.

Overall a fascinating account, and does show how attitudes from the 70s have progressed since then, towards police work and towards women.

Now I see people here post reviews that say that they liked the documentary but there was a feminist tone etc towards one of the episodes. Not sure that warrants a rating of 1 or 2, considering they enjoyed or liked the other episodes.

Take those reviews with a grain of salt, I have wasted time on far worse movies, films and documentaries.

Alita: Battle Angel
(2019)

Surprisingly Good
I'm not familiar with this story, but I started to watch it and I'm surprised I never saw much mention for the film before.

The special Effects are simply amazing, some of the best I have seen.

Story fits in well with what I know of "manga".

Well done.

Soul
(2020)

Deep film
Wow.. not sure what I was expecting, but it was a pretty deep movie. Hard to hold back that tear or two. Animation is fantastic and you get drawn into the story.

Probably suited for more older children but yeah, a nice follow up to "Inside out" if you want to look at it that way.

The Midnight Sky
(2020)

Nice Special effects - very slow pace
Add this to the list of 'catastrophe' films that have come out this year,.. Yeah, some nice special effects, and some drama, but seemed very boring overall.

Skylines
(2020)

Dissappointment...
Well, I never was a big fan of SkyLine, the first film. It was ok, for what it was. Beyond Skyline was actually pretty good - I remember being surprised. But this was disappointing for the expectations I had. Slow at the start, cliche in parts. Felt I'd seen this story in many other sci fi films over the years.

This Is the End
(2013)

Better than I was expecting
I was expecting a typical goofball comedy with this film so had put off watching it for years. Last night I was in the mood to watch something like what I thought it would be like - and was surprised! There were some funny LOL moments, and I got the whole actors acting like their exaggerated selves thing - pretty funny.

Yeah, there's toilet humor and swearing, but it was much more entertaining and not along the lines any film with Melissa McCarthy would deliver for the sheer shock value.

For those rating it a 1 of 10? really? You went into watching this with some high hope of it being some sort of masterpiece? give us a break .

Next
(2020)

There are WORSE shows out there...
There are shows worse than this out there, and this is nothing great. Surprised that this got cancelled while other shows go on . No great loss, very cliche'd story , after I watched the first 3 episodes, I looked up to see if it was going to be made to season 2, looks like it got canned... so I just watched the last episode to see where they were left off.

Welcome to Sudden Death
(2020)

This is a comedy right?
Some neat action scenes, but its a spoof of action films right? I can't believe how cliched the acting and plot is.

Some good unintentional laughs that's for sure!

The Mandalorian
(2019)

Wow.. why did I wait this long to watch this?
I was pleasantly surprised on how GOOD overall this show is. Great storyline arc, props and details on set look great . Decent humor, and, now I understand the fuss with how cute "The Child" is!!

Oh, and the soundtrack, just fits in perfectly with the tone/tempo of the show.. like an old school western serial.

Good Job Disney.
