Kung Fu Panda 4
(2024)

Not the movie I was looking forward to
Kung FU Panda 4 was a movie I was looking forward to. Jack Black was returning and I was getting anticipated for it since I love the first trilogy so much and it holds a special place in my heart. And after seeing this one... yeah I was disappointed with it. This film should have been better, and I thought it was going to be great considered that this movie is one of the films in the Kung Fu Panda series. Sure the voice acting is great as usual, but someone like Viola Davies deserves to have a good role like the other three villains. Which the Chameleon fails in all levels, how is she a great villain like Tai Lung, Kai and Lord Shen... she isn't because, she was small... we have viper and mantis who are smaller than her, yet they both were great at fighting. Her motive made ZERO sense, to me and the audience. I couldn't even wrap my head around it, why though couldn't they put more effort in her that made her up to par with the rest of the villains. She could have been a better villain, like use the other villains to taunt Po. The thing is this was an absolute wasted potential. Shapeshifters are one of the most interesting kinds of characters because they give you unlimited routes on how you can write them. To make that kind of character uninteresting is an absolute gut punch. The writers really took the least interesting way to write the villain and she is so disconnected from the cast and movie. And don't get me started on why he needed to get replaced already as the dragon warrior, already at this movie. I would have love to see a pass of the torch at the 5th or 6th movie, but it was to early for me. And sadly I didn't feel a strong connection to Zhen at all (It has nothing to do with Awkwafina) they just wrote the character (to me) generic a bit. You have to make me feel a connection between her and Po, but it didn't. It still had funny moments and it has great action sequences... but other than that, it is a weak film of the series. 6/10. It's not bad.... but it is disappointing.

Wonka
(2023)

Paul King has done it again.
Wonka was movie, I was interested in solely because of Paul King. He directed both Paddington movies (1 & 2) and those were films were such beautiful family friendly movies. And because of that I was so looking forward to Wonka. And after watching the movie, once again Paul King delivers with this film. Wonka is the spiritual prequel to the 1971 classic Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Timothée Chalamet's performance as Willy Wonka is brilliant. Timothée, throughout the film, is able to capture that aurora we all felt watching Gene Wilder play the quirky and fun candy maker. His mannerisms, temperament, humor, wittiness, and enthusiasm is unmatched, cementing himself as the Willy Wonka we know and love in Gene Wilder. As first, many seemed skeptical of how well he would perform, but undoubtedly, Timothe Chalament is simply wonderful. Another charming performance is that of Calah Lane as Noodle, the orphan worker Wonka meets in the film. Her companionship matched with Chalamet's well-natured character, displays such emotion and hope. Lane's character is confused and silenced initially, but through Wonka, she finds herself and then builds the confidence to become wholesome while tagging along with him. And the song "For a Moment" in the zoo was phenomenal, I loved that song and it almost made gulp. The music was so beautiful and each song was so catchy and it made the film better in my opinion. This film is a family friendly movie and I got to say I love this version of Wonka. All cast and crew did a spectacular job with this film. They were all memorable with this the villain's and the side characters were just so great. It isn't just with the Paddington movies, no Paul King know how to make TRUE family-friendly movies. 9/10. What a great movie to end the year 2023 with.

Gojira -1.0
(2023)

A true MasterPiece... Toho does it again.
Godzilla Minus One must be present in both Spider-Man Across the Spider Verse and John Wick Chapter 4. Among the best movies of 2023. The finest thing about this film is how heartfelt the human characters are. For example, even though the "father," "mother," and "daughter" have no known relationship to one another, I still got the impression that they were a true family. Because he was a fisherman, our main character established friendships with these individuals, and I felt a connection to them. The primary focus was on war trauma and the idea that people should move past their guilt. Recovering from trauma and examining the true effects of war on soldiers and their quest for sanity was the most compelling aspect of the movie on its own. I had a great time with all of the human characters. It was also really emotional, and even though I refrained from crying, my heart was tugged. And Godzilla-I'm not even sure where to begin. He posed a threat in this film. Unlike the monster verse films, he was neither a hero nor an anti-hero. He was an obvious bad guy. And in each moment he appeared in, he was so merciless. Even after 70 years in the public eye, Toho still recognizes that portraying him as a villain is the best course of action for Godzilla because he was insane for the majority of people. The best moment of the movie was when he ran through the city and the boat scene. He was really strong in this movie. I could go on forever about how much a film that looks better than any other Hollywood production combined was made for, with an estimated budget of $15 million. This movie is too good to forget. A 10/10 MUST WATCH MOVIE FOR 2023. WATCH IT, JUST GO WATCH IT.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
(2023)

I need Beyond the Spider-Verse now.
Spider-Man Across the Spiderverse is if not the best Spider-Man movie I have ever seen. Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson directed the hell out of this movie. Shamiek Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Oscar Isacc, Jake Johnson, Daniel Kuluya, Jason Schwartzman, and all the other voice actors were top-notch in this movie. Everything in this movie was fantastic, spectacular, and amazing. I can keep going, however; I don't want to make this long. When I first saw this movie on opening day, it was the best choice I have ever done. Because, if not I would have been spoiled on Twitter, Instagram, and everywhere. This movie like John Wick Chapter 4 in which deserves a billion dollars because it's that good. I enjoy every second of the art. That's what this movie is its art. And don't get me started with the soundtrack and story, Because both of these make the movie elevate this film from being generic to a masterpiece. We spend a lot of time with Miles and his family, and his family is the key, for him in this story. He and Gwen have the best chemistry in the film. But when we enter Spider-Man's Indian world its amazing art style is stylish, and it fits perfectly with the character. The Spot however was the most woah to me, from being a D-List villain to an A-list in an instant in this movie. Jason Schwartzman has done a phenomenal job doing the voice for Spot; they joke about how he is a villain of the weak after that final transformation. And after the terrifying vision that Miles has, it just boosted him up from D to A list villain tier. And the final plot twist was still surprising to me. The train fight between Miles and Miguel is so intense and I was surprised by the reveal of Miles being the anomaly and the choice that Miles has to make from saving his dad versus the entire world. His escape from the Spider-People was intense and was keeping me on the edge of my seat. And when Miles ends up on Earth 42 instead of 1610, broke my heart to thousands of pieces, especially when he meets his evil Doppler ganger who becomes the prowler on Earth 42. But what broke my heart is that we have to wait another year or so to get Beyond the Spider-Verse. I can't that long to get my solution on how this trilogy ends. Overall, this film deserves the praise and hype for all of the things that happen, and it took 5 years to get the sequel, I hope we don't have to wait for five more for Beyond the Spider-verse. 10/10.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie
(2023)

This film is for the Nintendo and Mario fans, NOT critics or general audience.
The Super Mario movie was, in fact, the most enjoyable moment I ever had in a theater experiment. I was smiling throughout the entire movie because they showed references that I know throughout my entire life when playing Super Mario. I played the Super Mario video games when I was a kid as there was an arcade game with that system. As a fan of the Mario games, I can guarantee this film is for the fans of Nintendo and Super Mario. I enjoyed every single minute of this film and I know, for a fact, this film dealt with better fan service than No Way Home. As it didn't have such awkward pauses, for us the audience to react. The soundtrack, is *French kiss* beautiful. And because of that it was a huge plus for me in the movie. Visually it looks stunning, as Illumination did an exceptional job with this film. I was worried that they would screw this movie up from the get go, but I was wrong. This was the best movie they ever produced. And I knew, with Nintendo along in the helm, they would do a better job than others would easily. The voice acting, in my honest opinion, wasn't bad at all. Yes, even Chris Pratt did a good job doing the voice of Mario. Charlie Day as Luigi was good, Ana-Taylor Joy was great as Peach, Keegan Michael Key as Toad was astounding, and especially Jack Black, who was the best part of this movie as Bowser. (Especially when sung Peaches, that song is still stuck in my head.) However, for me, the only miscast was Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, he was an absolute miscast, and despite that, I dealt with the voice, and got over it. This film, it's not perfect, the story was mid at best and the pacing was way too fast we could spend a few minutes on stuff like Mario's family and the time being in another world. And I wanted the brother duo of Mario and Luigi, and I wish we could get more of that duo, but like I said it was short and I wanted the family side of them more often. But overall, the film was astounding, I had the biggest smile on my face throughout the entire film. As a movie, it was fine, but this movie was made for Nintendo and Mario fans and it does get a 10/10. I recommend you watch this film if you're a huge fan.

John Wick: Chapter 4
(2023)

It was Perfect... Perfect. Everything down to the new and last detail
John Wick Chapter 4, directed by Chad Stahelski and stars Keanu Reeves as the main character John Wick. This is the best film of 2023, already. There I said it. It's already the best film of 2023. John Wick's Chapter 4 is one of the best action films this decade. I enjoy this film, no; I loved this film. I loved this film, My dad and I watched John Wick's Chapter 1 on opening day, and now we watched it on opening day; and Chapter 4 didn't disappoint us at all; we had the best time with this film. Bill Skarsgard, Donnie Yen, and Scott Adkins were brilliant in this film, and they didn't disappoint us in this film as it's such a good plot during this film. The story is well done as it shows and expands the new assassin world. And the action, I can keep going on and on about the action and I am so anticipated that I want to see the movie again, of how good the action is especially the overhead scene that was inspired by Hotline Miami. That scene alone made this film a masterpiece. I could watch it over and over again and I will never get tire of watching it. The story is really good and the ending was a huge plot twist, as we though there were going to make Chapter 5. And in all honesty if they end the story here with John Wick, that would be okay, because, I seriously don't know how on god's earth will they top this film. And If they ever do a Chapter 5, Please bring everybody back that did Chapter 1-4 for Chapter 5. My dad and I are huge fans and we will continue be fans, we love the film and for my dad it's already the best film of 2023 in his eyes. Cinematography, soundtrack, visuals are ALL astounding. There is only a nitpick and that is John Wick still is clean after all the fighting. Overall, John Wick's Chapter 4 is a true masterpiece of action filmmaking. It's a film that manages to exceed the high bar set by its predecessors, delivering a thrilling and emotionally engaging experience that leaves you wanting even more. If you're a fan of action movies or just great filmmaking in general, then John Wick Chapter 4 is an absolute must-see film. I give it a 10/10 rating without reservation. I am wanting this film to get this film a billion dollars at the box office, Because it deserves the money, and time to see on the BIG screen. I am going to see this film over and over again. It's a masterpiece. 10/10.

John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum
(2019)

And they keep anting the action
John Wick Chapter 3, directed by Chad Stahelski and stars Keanu Reeves as the main character John Wick. It is a stunning continuation of the franchise that leaves you breathless and begging for more. This action-packed film picks up right where the last one left off, with the legendary hitman John Wick, played by Keanu Reeves, on the run from every assassin in New York. From the opening scene, the movie delivers an adrenaline-fueled experience that never lets up. The action sequences are some of the most creative and intense that I have ever seen, with incredible fight choreography and breathtaking stunt work. The sound design is once again exceptional, immersing you in the world of the film and making you feel like you're right in the middle of the action. But it's not just the action that makes this film a masterpiece. The story is expertly crafted, with twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat throughout the entire runtime. The character development is also top-notch, with John Wick evolving and facing new challenges that push him to his limits. Keanu Reeves once again delivers a fantastic performance, capturing the stoic yet vulnerable essence of John Wick perfectly. The supporting cast is also exceptional, with standout performances from Halle Berry and the dogs, as the dogs were awesome, and seeing animals get in the action is amazing. Overall, John Wick's Chapter 3 is amazing. It's a film that manages to exceed the high bar set by its predecessors, delivering a thrilling and emotionally engaging experience that leaves you wanting more. I am so ready for Chapter 4. 10/10.

John Wick: Chapter 2
(2017)

A perfect sequel for the perfect action film
John Wick Chapter 2, directed by Chad Stahelski and stars Keanu Reeves as the main character. From the very beginning, it grabs your attention and never let's go, delivering a thrilling and action-packed ride that leaves you on the edge of your seat. The film follows the legendary hitman John Wick, played by Keanu Reeves, as he is forced back into the world of assassins. The story is well-written and executed flawlessly, with a perfect blend of action, drama, and suspense. The filmmakers put a lot of effort into crafting a story that is not only entertaining but also emotionally engaging. One of the film's greatest strengths is its action sequences, which are some of the best I've ever seen in this movie. The fight choreography is stunning, with every move executed with precision and style. The gunfights are intense and realistic, with the sound design adding an extra layer of immersion that makes you feel like you're right there in the middle of the action. And they up the anti with this film and which it made it better than before. The performances in the film are also top-notch, with Keanu Reeves delivering one of his best performances as John Wick. He perfectly embodies the stoic and deadly John Wick, conveying a sense of both vulnerability and strength that makes the character all the more compelling. The supporting cast is equally impressive, with standout performances from Ian McShane, Laurence Fishburne, and Common. Overall, John Wick's Chapter 2 is a true cinematic masterpiece that deserves a 10/10 rating. It's a film that delivers on every level, from its stunning action sequences to its well-crafted story and top-notch performances. If you're a fan of action movies or just great filmmaking in general, this is a must-see film.

John Wick
(2014)

What a perfect Chapter to begin
John Wick Chapter 1, directed by Chad Stahelski and stars Keanu Reeves as the main character John Wick. I was never interested in this film when it came out; I was always anticipating other movies like Captain America The Winter Soldier, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Godzilla, etc. My dad wanted to, go see a movie since it was a rough day at work and invited me to go see a movie, that movie being John Wick. So of course, I said yes and we went to watch this film in the theater and after coming out of the theater, we became fans of John Wick. This film is so simple a man trying to kill the mafia for killing his dog. This film was so good, that my dad and I couldn't stop talking about it all the way home and all day at the house, either. That's how much this film was played and affected by watching John Wick. The film was good, just a simple story and it was good, which was important. The action is and was the main key point of the film and it is the best part of this film, I did enjoy this film, from beginning to end. Was, in fact, the best film of 2014 along with another great film but this was so up there that we couldn't have forgotten about this film. Everything this film did was to entertain us and for that we were grateful and John Wick was in fact my favorite film of 2014. That's how you know it was that good. 10/10.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods
(2023)

A Greta fun of a film
Shazam Fury of the Gods was directed by David F Sandberg. And it stars Zachary Levi and Asher Angel as both Shazam and Billy Batson, I liked this more than I expected. Of course, this isn't a perfect movie with no flaws, there are aspects of the film that I wish were better. The CGI looks cheap in parts, especially during the first act, and at times too much expositional dialogue feels tedious to sit through. But both Shazam films shine when it comes to the characters and the heart & soul of the story. This isn't just a 'Shazam' movie, unlike last year's Black Adam, where the film was focused on The Rock's titular character ONLY. And where that film focus was too weak for me. In Shazam movies, every member of the family is memorable and likable, just like the main character. By the time the film was almost over, I liked this family and it made me want Shazam 3. I mean the best thing I can give this film is that if you loved the first film, then you will love the second film. If you hated the first film, then don't bother with this one. This film captures EVERYTHING from the first and somewhat does it again. But for some reason, I think it did it better. The bad guys despite the horrible trailer, are not too bad. They're perfectly fine one-time villains. The action is about the same, the visuals mediocre but compared to the MCU great, and the comedy hits better. I get it that not everyone is supporting this film due to the new phase DCS (DC Studios) is coming and there is no reason to watch this film anyway, but if you like having a good time watching a film about what it's like being a hero or what it means to be the hero. Then this is your film. This film gets a 7/10. It's not perfect but it's miles better than Black Adam.

The Whale
(2022)

Fraser deserves the praise
The Whale was directed by Darren Aronofsky and stars Branden Fraser as a 600 lb morbidly obese English teacher who attempts to reconnect with his estranged teenage daughter. This film was nothing but the most talked about because of Brandon Fraser, as he not only got praised for his performance by critics and audiences, but he got a 6-minute standing ovation, which many cite as his return to cinema. And as someone who has been hearing the news about it and finally went out to go see it. I honestly thought it was Fraser's best work. A depressing movie about someone who lost someone special to him, and because of that he gained so much weight. Honestly, I am someone who doesn't pity people like that because I always find an alternative to something in life that is going wrong. But for some reason because, of Fraser's performance, I like Charlie. And I do now know why Fraser got an Oscar performance for this film, as he carried this film. Now because, of Fraser, I do also believe that Chau, Sink, and Simpkins were also great for their parts. They were great but had serious flaws. I understand why the audience hates Ellie as she is an annoying contemptible fool to people, especially to Charlie. But I can somewhat see her perspective, on why she loaded Charlie, as she has gotten to a point on why she would her father care so much for someone now than later. This happen to my cousin as his father left him when he was young and treated his father like whatever. So I can understand her character as I know someone who is dealing with that as well. Simpkins was good as someone who wanted to help Charlie due to his beliefs, and while I am someone who does believe in an afterlife. I was a bit disappointed with the way they treat religion and someone who wanted to help in any certain way, but again that is something that this film explores. However, Hong Chau, aka Liz, was someone who I wanted to like but I just didn't. I don't know why but I wasn't fond of her character. Even though Chau gave a phenomenal performance, I even do understand that Alan was her brother and wanted to help him out in and certain way, as she is wanting to help Charlie by giving him food, even though it's killing him. I can go on and tell her flaws, but I will say at the end of the day, I understand why she is what she is. Overall, I can understand why Darren put this film, on hold for so long, and if not for Fraser, the majority would've slept on this film. 9/10.

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish
(2022)

This film has no right to be good.
Puss in boots: the last wish has no right to be this level of good. I entered the theater with low expectations. And I came out and was completely overwhelmed by this masterpiece.

And honestly, I thought they would ruin him but no absolutely not I was so wrong. We still have the good old jokes and even the animation+style isn't bad at all, I like the new style. Plus seeing Shrek, Donkey, and all the other members back, it's awesome to see that again. If we talk about villains I can only say they all made a great performance on screen. My absolute favorite easily and I just wish he was just the only main villain, the Big Bad Wolf this character with his voice and his whistling gives chills on a different level and makes him one of the best characters and villains. His personality is extremely cold and also treacherous for little kids, maybe a bit too much. But I am so happy they made him a terrifying villain, I mean Dreamworks just knows how to make good villains. The story was also amazing it shows that even the fearless hero has his fears which is in this case the big bad wolf (he's a bit more than that but I don't wanna spoil too much) Even with all the angst this movie gives us some life lessons, for example, Puss likes himself he praises being a hero and cares less about others which can be quite problematic as we noticed. We saw many great moments such as a bit of action and course many jokes and a big adventure. This film truly is the definition of worth the wait, and I can't help but admire the direction these animated studios are heading (especially Sony animation picture and DreamWorks) to be more creator-oriented like Ghibli films and show the touch of the artist in Spiderverse 2018 and Arcane. I was extremely surprised and ended up with a new favorite movie in 2022. I can recommend this movie to everyone it may don't look like much at first but it's greater than you think. Also Perrito, I need a perrito in my life, I reallly do. 8/10.

God of War: Ragnarök
(2022)

it was perfect. Perfect. Everything, down to the last minute details
What Homelander has said? "It was perfect... Perfect. Everything. Down to the bone." I love this video game. I am a huge God of War fan and I love PlayStation video games. Uncharted, Jak and Dexter, Ratchet and Clank, Twisted Metal, Ghost of Tsushima, The Last of Us, Horizon Zero Dawn, Stray, Little Big Planet, Spider-Man, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, etc. I can keep going. I love everything about this game, the story, acting, characters, cinematography, controls, and music. My god, this video game is perfect. God of War deserves the Game of the Year. I love both T. C Carson and Christopher Judge as Kratos, they are the best, at what they do. I love this game and this game really does deserve to be Game of the Year. 10/10. God of War never lets me down. PlayStation/Sony, you done it again folks. That's why you guys are the best. More games like these Playstation. More like these. 10/10.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
(2022)

Honestly... Marvel/Disney should have recast T'Challa
Black Panther Wakanda Forever was a movie I was hesitant to watch because, as many know, Chadwick Boseman has passed away from cancer, and it was hard to know that Kevin Feige was NOT going to recast the character and instead kill off T'Challa. And I have a massive problem with that because we have yet to explore the nature of T'Challa, and the story should have continued what Boseman started. And not kill the character just because the actor died. So Ryan Coogler had a tough job changing the new script and making a new story, and while I respect what he does and all the movies he writes and directs are exceptional; So I can expect to see, a movie with full 100% of heart that he cares. And of course, he does put his heart and soul. However, sadly, I am one of those people who wanted them to recast T'Challa than have him die in the universe. I wish they'd done this story as a show instead of a movie because there were so many elements that just didn't get enough time to be developed. Shuri simply has no agency for most of the film. We don't have time to see if she's mourning the loss of her brother, trying to deny the grief, struggling with the concept of having to someday lead her people or working through expectations put in place by her mother. We get little glimpses of these ideas, but not enough time to explore any of them. As a result, Shuri is just kinda "there" while the plot revolves around her, which sucks since she's the main character. I like how much more mature she is than in the first movie. She was better here and I did enjoy seeing her on a journey to find herself with her religious beliefs. Her questioning religion is a sight to see and needed more to explore. I did love Tenoch Huerta as Namor, he is brilliant as Namor, however, I still wish it was Atlantis and was their version of Atlantis that rivals Aquaman. Angela Bassett, I have nothing to say but she was the best part of this movie, and I did enjoy the performance she gave, but to me, she didn't need to die. I wanted her to continue the story of a struggle Queen. Riri Williams played by Dominique Thorne didn't work for me. I don't know what it is, but to me, I feel like we didn't need her, and she was nothing but a plot device for the movie and the story. And we don't even know why Wakanda wants to protect her if she is a random nobody, with just brains. Again, it's gotten so lazy to see someone with the gift of knowledge, but she is quite a one-dimensional character. Overall the movie is fine to me; I feel like if they kept the original story (Where T'Challa returns from the dead and he had to continue his journey as king and the story with him against Namor would have been miles better.) But again that's just me. 7/10. Still respect Ryan Coogler for what he did with this film.

Black Adam
(2022)

IT's Ok, just a fun movie.... that's it
Black Adam was directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and stars Dwayne The Rock Johnson. This was nothing, but a passion for this project for The Rock, and he has been trying to do this movie for 15 years. And after coming out of the film, it was fun... that's it. It was pretty mediocre at best. It was just a fun film, and I can't say much more than that. I think the only reason I didn't enjoy it more was because of the superhero fatigue everyone is feeling at the moment. However, other than that portable point, I still found this film to be very entertaining while still keeping to the superhero film formula. The action was incredible, and the visual effects were out of this world, which is great to see after what Marvel has been putting out lately. The Justice Society of America was amazing and was a blast to watch. I adored Doctor Fate, he was incredible and was the best part of this. Hawkman and Cyclone were both amazing and Atom Smasher was alright. But it all came to Dwayne Johnson and his portrayal of Black Adam, which was the point of watching a movie and seeing how he does in the film. And honestly, I just saw Dwayne Johnson playing a superhero and not the character of Black Adam. And that is always a downfall for me because, in acting people don't want to see the actor acting, they want to see that character. Dwayne Johnson was not even trying in the film. And I also feel bad for the mother and son characters; I am sorry, but those two just annoyed me throughout the entire movie, they were so bland and generic. And they got under my skin for the entire film. The story was bland, and the fact the that it fits in a 2000 superhero movie, I still see its release that day. All in all, I would recommend going to watch this with some friends, but don't expect it to be The Batman level of good, it's a dumb fun movie. And if you can get past some stinkers of the 80 and 90 films, this will be the same. 4/10. It's OK.

Nope
(2022)

Yup.
Nope is a movie directed by Jordan Peele so I would say automatically, I am going to be anticipated for this film. Say what you want about Peele, but what he does it's original. This film focuses on a brother/sister team of horse trainers for Hollywood productions (Keke Palmer & Oscar winner Daniel Kaluuya) who inherited the business after their father (Keith David) is killed when debris falls from the sky. Emerald (Palmer) wants no part of the business, while OJ (Kaluuya), due to his dwindling financial straits, is slowly selling off his stock to a neighboring showperson, played by Steven Yeun. All of this takes a backseat to the flying saucer haunting the area, which at first starts to kill off horses, but soon humans seem to be on the menu as well. Plus, the commentary in this movie is remarkable; many people don't understand what Peele wants to say with his movies, and people just don't read the lines in this film his commentary is about; the idea is a spectacle; we go to extreme lengths to receive and show entertainment. Just like the director and the TMZ motorcyclist where they want to record the situation. The twist where the flying saucer was the monster was just brilliant. Plus, with the scenes, Gordy the monkey was terrifying and is another symbol of how we love to abuse animals; that is why we see Gordy going on a rampage in the studio. Overall, Jordan Peele makes new fresh movies, and this film does that for me; better than Us, but not better than Get Out. 8/10.

The Black Phone
(2021)

One of my favorite horror film of 2022.
The Black Phone was the horror movie I looked forward to the most. Being directed by Scott Derickson, who brought Sinister and Doctor Strange, I anticipated this film more than Scream and Halloween Ends. And after seeing this film, I can agree it has to be one of the best horror movies of 2022. It has a lot of heart to this film than it should, and with this premise, it should be a cheesy horror movie, but with Scott Derickson on the helm, it was more than good. The jump scares were also brilliant; modern horror movies fail to make the jump scares work, but the cast, made it better. Mason Thames and Madeline McGraw acted as if their life depended on it. I did like these two kids as they make me care about them if something bad happens to them. But Ethan Hawke, man, he was terrifying as the Graber. The cast is solid and loaded with future superstars. Scott Derrickson's creepy style of filmmaking is ideally suited to the 70s serial killer genre. He breathes life into the era with a familiar classic rock soundtrack and plenty of pop culture references guaranteed to pop a smile on those acquainted with the period within which the film is set. He is also able to sprinkle in some comedic moments that land a solid chuckle without sacrificing the dark atmosphere or turning the film into a horror/comedy. Instead, it blends in realistically and naturally.

The sound design is juicy. Fantastic great music and suspense; there are countless moments where you'll be writhing with anxiety from the suspense. Not as much gore as I expected from what I've seen in the past. Did this movie a favor. The Black Phone Relied on that underlying fear of being kidnapped and what happens to those. This was honestly a movie to write home about. You will be sitting in your seat biting your nails, just waiting for what will happen. Overall this film does deliver and is already my favorite of 2022. 10/10. Perfect.

Jurassic World Dominion
(2022)

Extremely dissappointed
Jurassic World Dominion was one of my most anticipating movies of 2022. I love that we had a lot of stuff to go through and the things that the world would be like if there were dinosaurs in our daily lives. Besides the return of Sam O'Neil, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum in the franchise, along with Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, it's a big Endgame for this franchise while those things were in motion. Dominion makes some choices. The entire franchise was supposed to set up this movie, a movie where it's all about Dinosaurs roaming the earth and how can people can come over that. Instead of giving us that plot, this movie decides to focus much on the locus bugs. I don't understand why they would do this. And not give us a movie about Dinosaurs roaming the modern world. And before anyone complains and people say I set my expectations high, that was their ENTIRE marketing. The story, this terrible construct, now involves not only the new actors of Jurassic World but also the old ones, which is nice to see them again at first, but soon they get dragged into the mud, which is the JW movies too. This story again leads all of the actors into some dinosaur lair constructed by some Biotech Steve Jobs caricature. He is another milestone of mindless and senseless characters who bumble around, trying to get the homiletic message of the movie makers across. The problem is that no one really cares... not the actors, viewers, and surely not the dinos. A lot feels inconsequential due to the ending. I am not a fan of how it ends. Why would you end the film like this if the story had nothing to do with making that ending work. Instead of the locus bull, we focus on what the world will become in the end, with dinosaurs. I am dissatisfied because Dominion had more promising potential? I hope there is an extended cut. It just felt so rushed and ended abruptly. 5/10. Very Disappointing.

Top Gun: Maverick
(2022)

So glad I saw this film.
I was never anticipating Top Gun Maverick. I thought Top GUn was good, but not great. I couldn't care less about the film, but most people and my friends said it was amazing. So I went to see it. And sure enough, it was one of the best experiences I have ever had on the big screen while watching this, and holy sherbert was this a film to have and has no right to be this level of good.

Pros: Because Rarely do you get a sequel that measures well against a Blockbuster like what Top Gun was. But I have to say, and excitedly, Maverick does just that. I enjoyed the action here, great stunt flying by this highly skilled team of aviators because this action was the best action I have seen in a long time. I take it back because the action and suspense were breathtaking. Never had I wanted to beg someone to make it out of life in the most messed up and dangerous situation. The cast was great; Jon Hamm stood out to me as a big presence. Jennifer Connelly looked fantastic; the romance scenes were extremely tasteful and did not detract from this film's core 'action.' The cinematography was first-rate, and the story was solid; the acting was spot on. Jerry Bruckheimer preserved the magic, and There was enough reference material in the movie to remind or retell the original story for those who had not seen Top Gun keep everyone up to speed. Bringing back Val Kilmer was a nice touch as well. The great story they put together to work that in. But Maverick and Rooster were the show stealers of this film; their problems with each other were like a father trying to protect and reconnect with his son. A big plus is that there were more PRACTICAL EFFECTS than CGI. One thing in the modern era where everybody loves to use CGI instead of practical, this was a huge plus for me.

Cons: Nothing much, but I wish there were even more action scenes, as they were all good and entertaining.

Overall, the film was outlandish; they made me like this with some breathtaking action, and I couldn't believe I would skip this film. But I was so glad I saw it on the big screen. 10/10. Perfect.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
(2022)

This was in fact Madness
Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness was A RAIMI film. This was a film; I was so anticipating due to having Sam Raimi return to the director's chair again. I love Raimi's work, and to know he has returned to the directing chair from a Marvel movie again back since the end of Spider-Man 3 in 2007, I was ready to see what he can do in this film. And obviously, that's was I got... well, kind of.

Pros: Sam Raimi's direction and John Mathieson's cinematography is perfect in this film. Everything they did was perfect and way better than other Marvel movies they put up on the big screen. Sam Raimi brought a new tone to the MCU, and it felt so different and good. It was handled differently from all the other MCU movies but felt through and through like a good comic book adaptation. It is so unique, weird, scary, and gory that it's one of the best MCU movies, in my opinion. Plus, it has some practical effects. Finally, the MCU used some practical effects, which is something I love to criticize the MCU a lot. Finally, doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch get the development they need. Both Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen have done nothing but a phenomenal job playing their roles. Cumberbatch is a revelation as Dr. Strange, portraying the angst and confusion of a man who returned after getting five years of his life erased by Thanos' snap. Now he finds that the world has moved on in his absence, especially his lover, Christine (Rachel McAdams), and we get to see the human side of the world's most powerful sorcerer as he grips with his predicaments.

As Dr. Strange embarks on a perilous adventure across multiverses, we get to see the immense range of Cumberbatch in full flow, with the nuances and intricacies he brings to each version of the master sorcerer in the different worlds we visit, a joy to behold. This development is something I always wanted to see in the movies his human side and not his sorcerer side. Elizabeth Olsen continues the fine form she displayed in "Wanda Vision," delivering a perfectly balanced performance with equal parts poignant and powerful. First, she kills the Illuminati, which wasn't my Illuminati (Mines included Iron Man, Professor X, Mr. Fantastic, Doctor Strange, Namor, and Black Bolt ARE MY Illuminati). Plus glad they killed them off since I wasn't a fan of this version of them. But Wanda didn't make any jokes or quips, and she had a mission where she lost so much that she needed therapy not to get killed. And when she finally sees she's the monster, it's heartbreaking but also true that she finally got the truth out. Benedict Wong and Xochitl Gómez were also great in their roles. Especially Gomez, a newcomer who did a good job for someone who is beginning.

Cons: Again, in the MCU, where everything has to have certain things fixed instead of making a film, just making the film the way it had to be connected. What I do think could have been better was the run time. It could have given us more time to breathe and process what happened between scenes. Bruce Cambell said that "Raimi has had to add scenes that Marvel/Feige told him he had to shoot, and he's removed scenes that no longer apply." He also said, "Until May rolls around, I don't think even Benedict Cumberbatch even knows if he's in this movie or not." And the problem I have with the MCU is that they need a story to connect; instead of having it a solo film, they have to connect it somehow so audiences know it's a Marvel movie, but that is false. You have the Marvel Studios logo, which is more than enough for people to see the film.

Overall this is the best Marvel movie ever since Endgame or Infinity War. But unfortunately, phase 4 to me has been a disappointment to me. I wouldn't say I liked almost all the tv shows besides Falcon and Winter Soldier and somewhat of Moon Knight. And heck, films such as Black Widow, Eternals, and somewhat Shang Chi disappointed me, and Spider-Man No Way Home (Though nostalgia made me love that movie). But Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was, in fact, Madness. 9/10.

P. S that dimension travel scene was so breathtaking.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2
(2022)

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is in fact a blast
I love Sonic video games. I played Sonic 1, 2, 3 Unleashed, Generations, Colors, and even 06. The first movie was good, somewhat mid. Then, it was mid when I saw it again over the months. But when Sonic 2 took the rings off, and they could go crazy and do whatever they wanted with this film, I was pumped. I also hoped it was just fun. And it was exactly like that. The film is not perfect, but it's a film to enjoy yourself and have fun. And that's what the film should do when they do with the film.

Pros: Seeing Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles all on-screen, I love these characters, as I have seen them and played them in Sonic 2 and 3 and had fun playing these characters. Plus, Jim Carrey again has so much fun playing Dr. Eggman, and seeing him steal the show again was the best part of this film. The human characters were alright again, nothing special. However, I enjoyed this film because it focused more on Sonic, Tails, Eggman, and Knuckles than the human characters. There is nothing wrong with Marsden, Sumpter, or the others, but I came to enjoy this for Sonic, not the human characters. And I am more than grateful they did that. Also, seeing Super Sonic was jaw-dropping; I was so happy to see Super Sonic on the big screen in the final battle. Finally, seeing Sonic play baseball with others contrasts with seeing him play by himself in the first movie; it brought nothing but a huge smile to my face. Finally, Sonic and Knuckles are heartbreaking both Sonic and Knuckles losing their family on the same day was very sad. This film does a Venom: Let there be carnage and doubles down on everything they did in the first film; however, in this film, it works.

Cons: The film can get too kid-friendly. And while I get it; it's a kid's movie, there are times when I wish they took it seriously. Such as films such as Soul, Into the Spider-Verse, or any Pixar/Animated film, there should be moments where the tone automatically changes out of nowhere. Plus, I hate how they didn't give Tails the motivation to visit Sonic; there was no reason.

However, everything from this film was fun, and I had a huge smile throughout the entire film. I love the cast and crew, and no one is near. It was a blast, and I highly recommend it! Whether you're a kid or an adult, Sonic fan or not, there is something fun and exciting in this movie for everyone! Yes, it has its flaws here and there, but I promise you'll find something to enjoy in this film! An absolute must-see if you're a Sonic fan! 7/10. I can't wait for Sonic the Hedgehog 3.

Morbius
(2022)

Sony really need to stop
Morbius was a movie I was interested in knowing about Michael Morbius's character that I read about in the comics. He was a troubled guy who wanted to make the world better in the comics. And when getting to the film has been delayed for almost two years since July 31, 2020. Unfortunately, however, Morbius, the film was not that. This movie is a complete mess. Hot Garbage. It's poorly made in almost all aspects. The story is disjointed, the basic dialogue, the character depth is barely there, and the superficial relationships. After No Way Home, Sony decided to put their fingerprints all over the movie, and every time they did that, it didn't go that well. If you look at Spider-man 3, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Venom, Venom: Let there be Carnage, and now this film, again, they want to be like the MCU instead of being their own thing. They want to make the films like the cinematic universe and kid-friendly characters. When it shouldn't be like that, characters like Morbius, Venom, and Carnage are not kid-friendly. These films need to be more adult than just ten years old; the movies like Logan, Deadpool, and Joker are box office successes and amazing films.

Pros: Matt Smith stole the show, he was the best part of the movie, and I understand his motivation to be a villain and wanting to be cured. The visuals were amazing too. And I love the tone; it was by far better than Venom 1 and 2, as I always want the films to be serious when it needs to be.

Cons: Everything else that was in the movie. This is an Avi Arad production, so my expectations were low going into this, and Matt Tolmach and Lucas Foster were also on board to make the stakes of success even lower than ever. It's boring. The writers didn't make the stakes evident, and the story flow was weak. The characters made the fact that we needed to care about these characters, besides Matt Smith's character. The love between Morbius and Bancroft was somewhat forced on me that many people need to have a love interest. However, this is still better than Eddie and Anne in the Venom movies. The ending ends, and it was the most disappointing thing I have ever seen. And the post-credits scenes, the better I forget about that existing, the better.

Overall, Sony needs to stop with these films, and if they make movies without setting up a cinematic universe and without touching the films, these films would be levels like Deadpool, Logan, and Joker. But with this, I won't be watching anything else coming from Sony. Except for Spider-Man Across the Spider-verse Part 1 and 2, I hope Sony doesn't put their nasty fingerprints all over the film. 2/10. Disappointing.

The Batman
(2022)

To me this has got to be the BEST Batman movie ever!
The Batman was the movie I was always anticipating for 2022. Matt Reeves was directing the film, and I could not be any happier for that result; when HE got full creative control, I was fully in the movie, and there was no way this movie would fail. And after seeing the film twice. It is a masterpiece and, to me, is the best Batman movie, better than The Dark Knight. This film was good, and I can't even explain how well made and craft is so well done, and it beats most of the MCU and DCU films by a landslide. Everything I wanted from The Batman was all here thanks to the man himself, Matt Reeves. He directed this film with a passion, and it shows. Along with a PG-13 movie that pushed the limits of it, I adore this film for doing that.

The cons: I wish there were more Alfred and Bruce in the film; I want more of that time we get to spend time with them together. I wanted more Bruce Wayne and his normal life and how he is so cold to the outside world. And that's it.

Pros: Everything else. Robert Pattinson was BATMAN. I didn't see an actor acting like Bruce Wayne/Batman; I saw Batman/Bruce Wayne. He plays Batman almost 80% of the entire film but brilliantly uses his detective role, one of the huge pluses in the film; it's a detective movie from Batman, and it's perfect. Everything the film does is perfect for Batman because, in this film, he isn't Bruce Wayne, he is Batman, and that's the only way for him to help the city. So until the end of the movie, he should be more than just vengeance. And Robert Pattinson was just amazing in this film, definitely a phenomenal actor. You know what? Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle/ Catwoman was brilliant, and she delivers her lines and actions about who she is as a person and what she needs. She, to me, is a perfect Catwoman balance of snarky and intelligent, just like her comic counterpart.

As James Gordon was exceptional, Jeffery Wright, and I love his relationship with Batman, I love the fact that he gets to be front and center from the GCPD and how much he was a leader. I didn't care if he was black; as long as he gave a good performance, I was ok with that. And, of course, Wright did. And Collin Farrell as Ozwald Cobblepot, aka The Penguin, was a perfect choice for this film. I hope we see more of him. But Paul Dano, omg, the most brilliant actor here, and he was so terrifying in this movie playing as the Riddler seriously, I was glued to the screen in every scene he was in. And yet I wanted more scenes from him. Everything here from the Riddler was just captivating, and it just made me have a huge smile on my face.

I enjoy every second of the film. From the score (BRILLIANTLY DONE by Michael Giacchino) along with the cinematography in this film, it's just too perfect. Plus, the ending where Batman becomes a symbol of hope is, in fact, the seal of the deal. I can't stop praising this film enough, and I enjoy every second of it. So please watch this movie, please, go and watch this movie; it is a masterpiece. This film is a 10/10. Because, to me, The Batman is, in fact, a masterpiece.

Uncharted
(2022)

A very fun, BUT Generic movie
I am a huge PlayStation/Sony fan. I have played ALL 4 Uncharted games because of the story gameplay etc. And Yes, I have played games such as God of War (My personal favorite), BioShock, Ratchet and Clank, Jax and Dexter, Infamous, Sly Cooper, Heavenly Sword, Metal Gear Solid Tekken, Little Big Planet, Killzone, Ghost of Tsushima, and yes, Uncharted. SO I am, in fact, a Playstation fan and played all of the games owned by Playstation. So when hearing about Uncharted getting a movie, I was pretty stoked on the idea. Although uncharted was a movie I wouldn't mind seeing on the big screen, and it's a prequel to the games, I didn't mind personally if Tom Holland and Mark Walhberg were the stars, but in this case, it did because they weren't anywhere near as memorable in the film for me. They weren't Nathan Drake and Victor Sullivan, but Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg trying to be these icons I know and love. However, the fun of this movie kept me watching. And yes, I get it, it doesn't do the games any serves, but I am now just saying it's a film mixed with Indiana Jones and Pirates Of The Caribbean. I accepted later on in the film that it was just a fun action movie but a generic one for sure. Ruben Fleischer had fun with it along with Tom Holland and Mark Walhberg, and they delivered a fun ride from start to finish. Like I would say sometimes, I liked it; I just wished I loved it. 7/10.

tick, tick...BOOM!
(2021)

Andrew Garfield was BRILLIANT
I believe it deserves the best picture after watching Tick, Tick... boom again. Andrew Garfield is spectacular. Give him the Oscar already! This boy can sing! He is electric on-screen. He keeps you captivated through many emotions and makes the transitions through the story seamless. To me, this has got to be one of his top performances, if not his best on-screen performance, of his career. Amazing. Like Maguire told him., he was amazing. Robin de Jesús is a powerhouse in this film, which keeps the film founded and real. He stands out from the pact and holds his own against Andrew. The rest of the cast is good. The problem is, when those two are in the scene with them, they easily get overshadowed. MJ Rodriguez is playing a watered-down version of her character in Pose. Completely underused. There are some priceless moments, like the focus group scene. But Lin Manuel Miranda keeps changing style. I found it a little jarring. Andrew is the glue that keeps it together. The cinematography is well done. Similar to In the Heights, Lin-Manuel Miranda can again transition into the dreamlike production numbers and back to the real world effortlessly. The songs have potential and feel unfinished, which is the story's point. They aren't particularly memorable, but the delivery in the choreography makes them solid toe-tappers.

I enjoyed the sound design. It will give your home theatre a good workout without freaking out the neighbors. Very well-balanced. The script, as I mentioned, is a little wonky. It isn't exactly stock dialog but not far from it. Without Andrew and Robin, this could haven't gone south really quickly.

There is a fascinating and inspirational story here, actually two. The problem is the last ten minutes try to tell the other story, and although you get the gist of it, I feel there could have been an even bigger emotional punch if we spent more time in the final story. I still ended up getting goosebumps and having strong emotional feelings. In the end, This is essentially The Andrew Garfield show, and this is a missed opportunity for a four-quadrant crowd-pleaser. For fans of Film musicals or Broadway, you will find something interesting here for sure. I did have fun with it, and I would easily rewatch THIS OVER AND OVER AGAIN some of those musical numbers again. Damn, Andrew blew my mind! 9/10.
