The Night Of
(2016)

Absolutely flawless
If you like The Wire this is the show for you. I honestly cannot believe how good this show was so the only downside is it was only one season. Kudos to all the actors who had small roles but still participated which is just a testament to the writing and the respect to the creators.

Scenes from a Marriage
(2021)

People who've been there will appreciate this show
It doesnt surprise me that some of the reviews on here call the show boring, unrealistic or slow. I say that because if you haven't experienced relationship "issues" like this it may seem overdramatic or not based in reality. Now if you have had long term relationships that eventually end you will completely get what this show is about. Its also a show you need to feel which I assume almost half the people who watch it won't even be able to do or even understand since so many movies or shows will tell you how to feel through cheesy music or needless drama. I've personally never seen a show like this and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute but it probably depends on your relationship history.

Upright

Starts out great, slowly becomes completely cheesy
I sincerely dont get shows like this. It starts out hilarious with a tinge of heart and drama but then all of a sudden all the comedy goes away and you're just left with over dramatic cheesiness. I've seen this same thing happen in other shows so it really comes down to balancing out the writing. When you have a really good comedy it makes it easy to get drawn into small elements of humanity but then when you over do it you're left wondering what was even the intention of the show. Quite disappointing.

I Care a Lot
(2020)

Unrealistic and predictable
Had potential but once you take things to a completely unrealistic point theres no coming back, which is exactly what happened. I have plenty of examples but dont want to give any spoilers.

Nobody
(2021)

Really disappointing and cliche
When this movie first starts it feels very different and unique but not long after that it just becomes a typical movie where a retired bad ass comes out of retirement to protect his family. I honestly am shocked Bob Odenkirk would do this since he's so much better than this and on top of that its a little unbelievable that he can pretty much fight his way out of every situation. I think if you take out Bob this movie wouldnt have gotten as high as reviews since its pretty much every Liam Neeson movie from the last 10 years. Over the top violence, unrealistic everything and completely predictable story line. Why Bob why.

Nomadland
(2020)

Started out so brilliantly unique, ended so/so
Ive seen too many movies that start out with such a wonderfully unique dynamic and then slowly fall into the same cliche dramas we've all seen 1000 times. I know a lot of people like this since so many of us don't want to sway from whats expected but I found it disappointing that it would go that way. Still a great movie and worth watching but could have been way better if they would have just stuck to the vibe they created in the first half. Personally I think the production companies might be the reason for this since they want a "Hollywood ending" so I really shouldn't be surprised. As far as acting Frances McDormand was fantastic.

Inside No. 9
(2014)

Amazing writing
While some episodes are better than others I don't think I've ever seen a 30 minute show that can get you invested in characters so quickly, and of course this is all due to the writing and the amazing acting. It's also such a wonderful blend of drama and comedy which is probably why its so entertaining and life like. While Im sure some people wont like every episode there really is something for everyone if you watch the entire show.

Inside No. 9: The Trial of Elizabeth Gadge
(2015)
Episode 3, Season 2

Great and unique episode
I've now watched about a season and a half of this and have to say this episode is one of the best. Its such a perfect blend of humor and occasional drama that it leaves you feeling extremely fulfilled. This show in general is great but thus far this was the only episode that made me want to write a review.

Greenland
(2020)

Comically painful
By that I mean the story line and movie in general was so predictable and cliche I just had to laugh. I actually was expecting that when I put it on but I was willing to endure it in exchange for a good amount of meteor and disaster footage, but unfortunately there's very little of that. If I wanted this story line and basically same exact plot line I'd watch The Day After Tomorrow.

How to with John Wilson
(2020)

Brilliant and incredibly unique
If you ever watched Nathan for You, you probably will like this since it has a similar vibe but completely different premise. Not only can it be hilarious but it's also informative and throws in an element of "people watching" which NYC is the perfect place for. It might seem like its going slow at first but stick with it. It's almost like a comical documentary but as I said, still informative.

I'm Thinking of Ending Things
(2020)

Two hours of my life I want back
Let me preface this review by saying I really do like Charlie Kaufman and some of his movies(Eternal Sunshine for example) are some of my favorites ever but with those one he just got way too out there. I've been reading some of the reviews with explanations so it makes a little more sense now but to expect everyone watching to have read the book is just silly. Movies like this need to help the viewer get a bit more clarity into whats going on since it really just made zero sense. So I guess my recommendation would be if you havent read the book youre not going to understand this movie so dont bother.

Modern Love
(2019)

Started out good, but then turned to cheese.
For anyone who has dated a lot, been in relationships etc this show will become painful very quickly. It's not that I'm against relationships but when they are spun in this fairy tale way it really gets to me. And seriously how many freaking romantic comedies do we need? Im using the word comedy loosely too because it wasn't very funny. The biggest stretch I could go is "cute" but I'd rather just use the word CHEESY

Raised by Wolves
(2020)

Good show brought down by Travis Fimmell
Great concept and most of the actors on the show do a good job but Travis Fimmel is really bad since he has little to no range. When I first saw him I just assumed he was an extra since he immediately seemed "off" but once I realized he was a main character I was pretty disappointed. Its a shame too cause the two actors who play androids do a phenomenal job along with all the kids but every time there's a scene with Fimmel it just brings down the whole show.

Servant
(2019)

Ignore the negative reviews on here
Its a shame there are so many negative reviews on here that are completely wrong, specifically how people are saying "nothing happens". For those who like this psychological, and yes somewhat slow moving shows, this is for you. For those who need major reveals with no hesitation or worse for those who want action, violence, sex non stop this is not for you. For me I love a show like this thats subtle but also just creates a vibe which is exactly what this is. I'm on episode 9 of the first season and I can say something happens every episode to move the story along but dont expect big reveals right away. Lastly Lauren Ambrose is amazing so if you like her you will like this. Give it a chance!

Ted Lasso
(2020)

Painful
Storyline is completely unoriginal and its attempt to be both cleverly funny(which it isn't) and dramatic is just painful. After seeing one episode I can probably predict the entire story line so I think the ratings on here are skewed.

Our Bodies
(2019)

Hilarious
I will say if you don't like the comedy of Tim and Eric you probably wont find this show funny but if you do you're going to love it.

Space Force
(2020)

What a waste of great actors
I am always blown away by shows that have great actors, a solid premise and established writers but still kinda suck. This is one of those shows. Just goes to show you can be the funniest actor in the world but if the writing is bad everything is bad.

#BlackAF
(2020)

Funny right out of the gate
For me, I usually can tell if I'm going to like a show about 5/10 minutes in but I think this one was even quicker. The dry, quick humor is excellent and really good acting from the kids.

Catastrophe
(2015)

Hilarious
This is a perfect example of how a simple premise can turn into a fantastic and hilarious show about things that most people can relate to. I also think part of the reason its so good is because the two main writers/creators are the main actor/actress so they know first hand if something is going to work or not.

Breeders
(2020)

Definitely not a comedy
I think sometimes the genre descriptions on here can be misleading since when I first saw this show on IMDB I assumed it was just a straight up comedy about parenting and relationships, which it is not. Yes there are comedic elements, especially if you also have kids, but its way more dramatic than I expected and I mean that in a positive way. For me I was about 3 episodes in and couldn't decide whether I liked it or not(partly because I was expecting a comedy) but my advice is to stay with it, get invested in the characters and don't make any attempt to categorize the show. In general I would say this show is extremely unique and also very close to reality.

The Midnight Gospel
(2020)

Literally expanded my thinking
As weird, abstract and "out there" the animation is in this show, the topics they discuss are really amazing and there are ideas proposed that really will blow your mind. Just be patient since there are times when it doesn't seem to make sense but pay more attention to the dialogue than the animation in those situations. I would recommend watching it high as well since it helps to have a mind that's much more open to alternative viewpoints.

Im probably the minority but I found this painful to watch
As my headline says I know Im probably the minority but Im sure there are other people out there who share my viewpoint. I honestly couldn't get through 10 minutes of this before turning it off since it just tried WAY too hard to be funny and everything seemed like a bad written sitcom. Shows like this seem to make no attempt to make it feel like the "real world" regardless of what year its all in and on top of that the acting also seemed incredibly inauthentic.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle
(2017)

Couldn't get through 15 minutes of this
I actually really like The Rock but once I saw him trying to do a Danny Devito impression I couldn't even watch so I thought it was unbearable. I think most of the other comments on here are suckers for action films so that may be why their ratings are so high.

Playing with Fire
(2019)

All I needed to see was preview to know it sucked
For those of us who have been alive more than 25 years, we can usually tell how good or bad a movie is just by the preview and this one is a perfect example. While I get this movie might be made mostly for kids its still terrible and some of these actors just need to say no to movies once in a while since it makes them seem like their judgement(or worse dignity) is way off. Michael Keegan Key is one of those actors since he is in everything and more than half of the stuff is not funny. He was way better before he got big. Anyway, avoid this movie at all cost unless you just want to make fun of it.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
(2005)

One of the best comedies of our lifetime
This is one of the most consistently funny shows I think I ever have seen and I say that after watching another hilarious season(14). I personally re watched the whole series recently over a course of a month and its even better when you have that kind of continuity since everything is connect. There are only two other shows that Ive seen(in my lifetime) that are this consistently funny; Seinfeld and Curb. But to Its Always Sunny's credit they have made way more seasons and compared to Curb in a shorter amount of time.
