Stranger Things: Chapter Nine: The Piggyback
(2022)
Episode 9, Season 4

This was extremely disappointing
Probably the least interesting way to end an otherwise superb season. I really loved the first 7 episodes and maybe thats the problem. I have watched endless videos where people were theorizing about this seasons final and after watching it my only thought is: why do some random people on the internet have better ideas than the people who are actually writing this show. This was really not that great. From eddies meaningless death, to the gang beating vecna because the got lucky like 3000 times + It is almost never a good idea to include a 2-days-later transition in a show and they way they included it in this episode is probably the most laughable and worst part of the whole series. Maybe this would have worked better if they would have released everything at once, but waiting for those 2 last episodes was definitely not worth it.

Top Gun: Maverick
(2022)

Enjoyable Movie
I don't know if I watched an other movie than the people who praise this to be the best movie ever made. While the action is definitely top notch and I would advise anyone who gets the chance to watch this in a cinema to do so. However the story isn't anything new or particularly interesting. The soundtrack is mediocre and sometimes very corny. The writing is far from great. I think there was an opportunity to make a significantly better movie if they didn't only focus on the action. However it is still an enjoyable movie, but not a masterpiece.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
(2022)

The longer I think about the movie the less I like it
Doctor Strange and the multiverse of madness is yet another disappointing entry in the Marvel Phase 4. I dont even know if you can call this a doctor Strange movie, since he feels more like a sidecharacter in his own story. This also becomes apparent once you realize that our beloved and cunning doctor isn't able to win a single fight in the whole movie. Even in the final battle he needs to get help from "miss america" (or whatever her name was I couldnt be bothered to memorize it). Marvel also tries to do a "no way home"-effect by showing us cameos that should make the audience go crazy. However, that doesn't work when you have no idea how to write your characters. "The smartest man alive" is so stupid that he underestimates the threat of the main villain and gets killed in literally 2 seconds. That is good writing I guess? But lets talk about the worst part of the whole movie, miss america. God i hate everything about her. Her name, her weakly motivated political agenda, the lack of her background story (which was like not existing in the movie) and especially her acting. This was the worst acting I have ever witnessed in a marvel production.

The only thing I enjoyed were some visuals (which are better in Doctor Strange 1) and the horror elements of the movie.

Arcane: League of Legends: When These Walls Come Tumbling Down
(2021)
Episode 6, Season 1

This is a review about ep4-6
Sadly act 2 of arcane wasn't able to follow the great beginning of the show. Episode 1-3 really blowed me away and after hearing that the series is going to get even better afterwards I was really hyped for what RIOT will show us next. First of all I have to say that the animation ist still superb and I (as a huge fan of the game) was very entertained by those 3 episodes.

However judging it from a mor objective point of view there are a lot of problems.

1. The Pacing is awful. In the course of a few scenes characters are changing their whole personality just to progress the story. There are also really weird cuts between scenes.

2. I don't like what they did to Silko. For me he was (and maybe still is) the most interesting character in this series. I like how they introduced a Villain, that has his weaknesses and a clear vision. Yeah he pretty much did a 180 after the time skip and now strives to be a father and selling drugs in order to bribe the enforcers. He pretty much does the same thing Vander did. He only gets interested in fighting the topsiders after Jinx goes on her solo mission and steals the arcane orb. Very disappointing.

3. Character Development. The only character they really fleshed out was Jinx, which they did well, but I feel like I now nothing about Vi, Caitlyn, etc.

Characters also just act out of character the whole time. I feel like Jayce switched his whole personality 4 times within 2 scenes.

I really hope that act 3 will show the same greatness as act 1.

Snowpiercer
(2020)

I don't understand the bad reviews.
First of all lets make one think clear, this is a show in a sci-fi setting and Sci-fi has always been experimenting with cheesy and illogical concepts. I don't know why people forgot that. Of cource the idea of a endlessly running train isn't realistic nor would the class system of the train work in real life, but thats not the point of the show. You wouldn't say that fighting with laser swords or travelling through time in a car is very realistic, but it is definitely fun to watch. That is why (at least for me) Snowpiercer works. Is it a show that would win awards for groundbraking acting or writing? No, probably not. But the story is definitely thrilling, the set pieces are fascinating and I am extremely invested in the show.

Nevrland
(2019)

Austrians take on gaspar noes Enter the void
Nevrland suprised me. I have heard a lot of mixed reviews before watching this debute film by austrian director Simon Frühwirth. The movie really feels different but in a good way. There are a lot of things to discover if you watch the movie very carefully or during second watch. I dont want to spoil anything but if you are generally interested in a movie that makes you think, give this one a try.
