Yellow Bird
(2023)

Disappointing
Yellow Bird is a 2023 American drama film directed by Angus Benfield and starring Brian Doyle-Murray, Kathy Garver, Plastic Martyr, and Angus Benfield. The film follows Jake, a once-successful P. R. specialist who is now struggling to manage a local grocery store known as "The Yellow Bird" while also dealing with his failing marriage and his own sobriety.

The film is a well-intentioned drama, but it is ultimately a disappointment. The plot is slow-moving and predictable, and the characters are not particularly well-developed. The film also suffers from some technical issues, such as poor sound mixing and inconsistent cinematography.

The film's biggest problem is its lack of focus. The film tries to do too much, and as a result, it does nothing particularly well. The film wants to be a drama about addiction, a comedy about small-town life, and a romance, but it never fully commits to any of these genres. As a result, the film feels disjointed and unsatisfying.

The film's only saving grace is its cast. Brian Doyle-Murray gives a solid performance as Jake, and he is supported by a strong cast of actors except for Plastic Martyr. However, even their performances cannot save the film from its many flaws.

Overall, Yellow Bird is a disappointing film that is ultimately not worth your time. If you are looking for a good drama, there are many better options available.

Monster

Went from OK to very bad
This started out ok. Obviously, the Jeffrey Dahmer story on its own is highly compelling. It should have been easy to make a great miniseries about the story.

Unfortunately, after a few episodes of decent story (but subpar acting), the series goes downhill rapidly. Instead of a story about Jeffrey Dahmer, it becomes a typical Netflix production that focuses on politics and race.

You'll be lectured about AIDS and told in one episode that it impacts churchgoers more than the gay community. Then, the story will shift into a focus on race. You know the drill with Netflix by now: White people bad and Black people good.

If that's not enough for you, wait until you have to watch an entire episode with no sound because the director thinks it's important for you to experience the episode as if you were deaf.

This show becomes unwatchable. Don't waste your time.

The Dreamlife of Georgie Stone
(2022)

Boring
I found this to be boring. I also had to fact check several statements and events from the film and found them to be falsehoods. I would but recommend this film to anyone especially not children. I would avoid this and I rate the film just 1 star out of a possible 10 stars.

Ranking it against all of the movies I have seen in the past decade, I would place it at 637 out of 658. That's a bad rating. I wish the acting had been more genuine. I also wish that the falsehoods I discovered were not included in the film. They take away from the overall theme of the film.

You may want to watch with subtitles as the accents are heavy.

Battered Women Who Kill
(2012)

No facts
The show was all emotion-driven. What are the facts of these cases? In at least a few of these cases, the women said they were never abused - under oath. Are we not to believe them?

I was disappointed to see such a one-sided presentation. Maybe these women had good cases to be released. You won't find out in this production because no facts were presented.

Jurassic Park
(1993)

Laura Dern Says Do Not Watch
Laura Dern says the age gap was inappropriate for her and her co-star. You should not watch this movie or show it to your children. I rate it one-star based on Laura Dern's comments.

Bridgerton
(2020)

It's woke and very weak
If you're thinking of watching this show, just find anything else. Literally, anything else. This is pure woke programming out of Netflix once again.

It's extremely boring. The dialogue is terrible. The lead actors are untalented. I can't believe they made more then one season. The reviews above four stars all seem unreliable.

Flatliners
(2017)

Awful
This remake is an embarrassment to film making. Ellen Page is terrible, but that's not surprising. I would not recommend anyone watch this movie.

I found the dialogue to be subpar and the acting was of the poorest quality.

Gentleman Jack
(2019)

Historically inaccurate
This was pretty awful overall. The acting and dialogue were quite weak and the story was historically inaccurate. I don't recommend this show to anyone. I would rate it 1/10 and it is of poor quality.

The Flaw
(2011)

Propaganda
This is Communist propaganda. It omits so many of the actual catalysts for the 2008 collapse.

I would not recommend watching this program. Watch The Big Short instead. Far more accurate and educational.

Santa Inc.
(2021)

Bored to Tears
I watched two episodes and fell asleep during both. This show is terrible. I don't recommend this show to anyone. I wasted my time so that don't have to waste your time. Have a great Christmas!

Free Guy
(2021)

Stop Debasing Yourself
Why did you go see a movie like this? It is very bad. Like all movies made in comic-book style (e.g., Marvel and DC), the dialog is painful to listen to. The jokes aren't funny. The characters breaking the 4th wall to wink at the audience is ridiculous, but not quite as ridiculous as the audience members who clap at this stuff.

Turning Point: 9/11 and the War on Terror
(2021)

Awful. Don't waste your time
One good episode in the series. That's it. Then it becomes a love poem to Obama and Biden. This was awful.

The Courier
(2020)

No depth
The dialogue is pretty weak. There is little to no character development. Rachel Brosnahan Is unconvincing.

The story carries the movie, but I don't recommend paying money to see it.

My Name Was Bette: The Life and Death of an Alcoholic
(2011)

Mediocre
I found this to be mediocre. It was a bunch of people talking about how they miss this woman who died due to alcoholism. But none of them seemed too bothered about her while she was alive. Seems to have been produced out of guilt rather than inspiration. The voiceovers sounded like a boring computer voice with no emotion.

Greyhound
(2020)

Zero character development
This is not a good movie. Imagine if you were watching part of a naval battle from nearby and could overhear the captain giving orders for the direction of the ship.

That's the entire movie.

You learn nothing about the main character All other characters do not speak outside of repeating the orders the captain gave them.

Unbelievable
(2019)

The Writing is so Terrible
The writing in this show is its downfall. That's so sad because the imagery is amazing and the acting is great. Hire someone besides Ayelet Waldman to do the writing next time!! Please.

Hari Kondabolu: Warn Your Relatives
(2018)

Horribly bad and unfunny
What a waste of time. Worst comedy show I've ever seen. Nothing was funny.

Pandemic: How to Prevent an Outbreak
(2020)

Don't waste your time
This has little to do with science or the flu. It's just a bunch of mini stories about people who work in the industry. This is cringe level stuff: the 45 year old guy who wears leather jackets and rides a skateboard. The young female scientist with a nose ring who seemingly knows nothing. The Indian woman who says she is working on 30 projects at once but pretends to feed her children each meal and read them bedtime stories after playing building games with them. If these are the people on the front lines, we're in deep trouble.

Empire
(2015)

Don't waste your time
This is the worst show on television. Terrible, low-budget actors with writing that has the quality seen in middle school poetry.

Beautiful Boy
(2018)

Disappointing
Movie about a rich kid who has it all (one house in northern california and one house in LA, loving family, etc.). Boo hoo, my life is soooo hard. Does drugs all the time and ruins everyone else's life. Now he wrote a book. Who cares.

Big Mouth
(2017)

Starts out strong and ends on a whimper
The first couple of episodes are funny and refreshing, but the show goes downhill fast. The rest of season one, you'll be asking yourself: "can this get any worse?" The answer to that question, as given by season two is a resounding yes. It can and does get worse. The second season is Nick Kroll saying the word vagina in 18 different voices and crying about Donald Trump. Just really bad tv.
