The Gifted
(2017)

Good premise and actors, but it could have been more
The premise and the first couple of episodes of the show are quite engaging and show a lot of potential for the series. Especially some of the characters were interesting and I really wanted to know what would happen to them.

However, after a while the storylines get increasingly dull and don't really do the characters justice. I ended up forwarding a lot until the end of the show because I wanted to see what would happen to my favourite characters but that was really the only reason.

The actors of the main family truly did a great job at working with the script they got but they could have done so much more with some great scripts. Two actors who especially stood out were Stephen Moyer as Reed Strucker and Natalie Alyn Lind as Lauren Strucker. Blaire Redford also has time to shine in his role of John Proudstar / Thunderbird, but I would have loved to see a little bit more about him and his backstory.

Flashpoint
(2008)

True, personal and engaging.
In the beginning it is a bit difficult to get into the show because so many characters get introduced and you're not entirely sure about their backstory and what their role is within the storyline but after an episode or two, once you know all the characters, the ball really gets rolling.

Each episode has its own storyline and gives their main characters a lot of screen time but also introduces the characters of "the case of the week" and what they are going through in extensive detail. That sort of storytelling is incredibly engaging and made each episode unique and almost like a mini movie by itself. This for me personally was the best part of the show and makes it stand apart from all the other action shows.

I also appreciated that the characters are very realistic. Even though romances are introduced, it was never cheesy or taking over the whole show. The characters were professional in their demeanour at work which helped in keeping the story realistic and not in an exaggerated "Hollywood" style.

Overall a very enjoyable and engaging TV series and I wish I could watch it all over again without already knowing what happens.

Heroes
(2006)

Good storytelling
The first season was absolutely amazing, great storytelling and great characters. You can always emphasise with the characters and what they're going through and the writers always seem to come up with a new idea.

It was also very impressive how each character got their time to shine, especially because there are quite a few characters and not enough screen time.

Unfortunately the last few seasons are not as engaging as the first one but still very enjoyable.

Being Human
(2011)

the humanity of monsters
I loved this show for the simple fact that it is solely based on the character's feelings, actions and relationships. Anything else comes in second place. It's not about what powers they have or what great things they can do but more about what limitations they have and the (human) feelings they deal with on a daily basis. The characters are very much fleshed-out, although at times I felt like the writer's didn't do the characters justice and could have done much more with their potential, especially in the case of Aiden. Season 2 sadly was not as engaging as it could have been but all the other season more than made up for that. 10 star rating, mainly because of the characters

The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let's Do the Time Warp Again
(2016)

disaster
It completely butchers the whole story and music. Too much and too little at the same time. Literally the only good thing about this whole film is Ryan McCartan as Brad and Adam Lambert's singing. Literally the only thing.

Travelers
(2016)

Not as impressive as it had the potential to be.
Overall a recommendable show, however the only pillar holding everything up is the characters. Lovely, lovely characters with thought-out backstories, which make the show worth watching. However, in hindsight the main story is not incredibly impressive and becomes boring more often than not. Some individual storylines are amazing but then they get cut short and are never talked about again, which does not compell the viewer to keep watching at all. Unfortunaley, not as impressive as it had the potential to be.

Struck by Lightning
(2012)

pheeeeeeeew
This kind of movie hits you hard. It's brutally honest and incredibly witty at the same time. It doesn't shy away from dark topics and manages to approach them with openess and honesty. Chris Colfer is outstanding as the main character and his screenplay really hits the mark. It felt like the movie's underlying message was entirely what he wanted to say and nothing else. This is one of the main reasons I loved the film: it was pure and comes from the heart. Maybe not something for everyone but if someone is looking for an unapologetically eye-opening story, this is the one.

Glee: The 3D Concert Movie
(2011)

loved the performances but ...
I love the Glee cast to death and they're performances were splendit as ever, however the song choices were very poorly done. At the top of my head I could have listed at least one song from the show per actor which would have complimented their voices a lot more than the ones they chose in the end. I also would have loved to see more of the concert as a few interactions on stage were cut out for the benefit of the movie (which I understand), however, it does take away a bit of the warm and welcoming feeling Glee usually brings with it. Overall, I did enjoy most of the songs and all of the performers did an amazing job which is the only reason the movie gets as many stars as it does.

American Crime Story
(2016)

definitely worth watching
An incredibly interesting and captivating story based on true events. In the beginning I thought the way of storytelling a bit confusing but once you get used it, it enhances the viewing experience immensely. I can imagine watching it a second time around and then being able to fully take advantage and enjoy it even more. Huge shoutout to the actors who gave incredible performances. Especially Darren Criss needs to be mentioned but also supporting actors such as Ricky Martin, Penelope Cruz, Finn Wittrock and particularily Cody Fern.

Only in relation to season 2!
