Brilliant in every way
This series is brilliant. Jenna Ortega is absolutely perfect and nails this role better than anyone could expect. Her acting is brilliant, and she has the pout and stare down just pat, but not overdone.

I never thought I would enjoy this and believed it would just turn out to be another teen fantasy but I was pleasantly shocked and surprised at how good it really is.

The plot is exciting and the mystery draws you in.

The supporting cast are all good which really helps.

The filmography and special effects are brilliant and create just the right mood for this .

I can't praise this enough, it is a must watch for all ages, and my only problem is having to wait two years for the second season !!

The Last of Us
(2023)

Boring and terrible casting decisions
Unfortunately this show is a big fail in my opinion.

First and foremost, the main thing a show MUST have is great actors, with charisma and screen presence who can make you forget you are watching TV and they enable you to get immersed in the show.

Pedro Pascal fits the bill, but he is the only good actor here and the others simply detract from the experience.

Bella Ramsay is wrong for this in every way. Her looks are off putting and she lacks the acting chops and charisma to carry this role.

By the second episode, the story is already slow, plodding and totally boring.

I remember the first few episodes of Walking Dead, which were so rivetting, with great actors, you just got immediately immersed in it.

Not so here.

Move on, nothing to see.

Unique, an absolute masterpiece
Wow, what an incredible creation is this show.

It comes as a complete surprise to be totally drawn in and captured by this magnificent piece of TV work.

At the start, much of the appeal comes from the weird feel and mystery about what the hell is going on here.

Then, with each episode, the suspense picks up and you are drawn in even further.

The other important aspect that makes this show so special is the amazing acting performance by Adam Scott. I was spell bound by his performance. It is unusually subtle and understated, but every facial expression, every word he utters is somehow spell binding.

The other actors are all excellent as well, and this is always for me the crucial aspect of whether a show will be watchable or not.

This show is unique and brilliant and really is essential viewing.

Tulsa King

Absolutely brilliant. Stallone's Best.
This show is just brilliant.

Is it crazy to think that Stallone has done his best work at the age of 75?

Well, you better believe it.

The humour in this show is incredibly funny, and Stallone delivers constant one-liners that will just crack you up. His demeanor and delivery is perfect.

But what also makes the show so watchable and addictive is that it is so much more than just comedy. There is suspense and a deep story to it.

The actors are all brilliant , which for me is essential in making a show worth the time.

The backstory is deep and emotional, and will hook you in.

It's hard to describe unless you watch it, but the whole formula of this show is magic and really makes this special.

Tedious boring and slow
This was a real disappointment , having looked forward to it as I like fantasy and SF. But the slow start turns into a slow middle and slow end.

Just incredibly tedious and boring I had to fast forward just to get to the predictable ending, which was hinted at right at the start so not even a surprise.

Apart from the incredibly tedious pace and plot, the filmmakers have derived another method to extend a 30min show into 1 hour.

Whenever a character is asked a question they moodily stare off into the distance for 10 to 15 seconds before answering. This got to the point where I was wanting to slap them over the head and scream " just say something for god's sake !"

Brilliant. The best Star Wars for ages
This was excellent and a pleasant surprise , since I have found most Star Wars offerings unwatchable lately.

But this is different.

Visually stunning cinema and effects.

Brilliant and engaging actors with real screen presence and chemisty.

Exciting and suspensful story and plot just keeps you engaged and interested right throughout.

If you have seen recent Star Wars movies and series and been very disappointed like me, then you will definitely want to give this one a watch, you will find it completely different and engaging.

I have watched the first 6 episodes so far and have been very impressed.

The Peripheral
(2022)

Magnificent. Best sci fi in quite a while
This is magnificent in every way.

Visually stunning to watch the filmography and artistic beauty is first class.

The actors are brilliant and have real power and charisma.

The story is exciting and suspenseful and totally hooks you in.

By the end of the first episode the suspense really ramps up and you are totally hooked.

And you will be pleased to know that it is much easier to understand and follow than Westworld. Joy and Nolan can get really carried away at times with some of their offerings , as they did in Westworld , which just became so convoluted you don't care anymore.

But the Peripheral is brilliant sci fi at its best.

Brilliant so far
Great show, really enjoyable as it hooks you in with the premise of the small town and the horror aspect.

We can't stop watching and you really want to know where the plot is headed.

The acting is quite good, and the directing and atmosphere is excellent.

Hopefully they will keep on writing compelling and interesting storylines for this .

Good work so far, we are only half way through season 1.

We really hope there will be a season 2.

This is better than the usual Stephen King fare, which gets bogged down in too much boring character drama.

Even the child actors are really good in this.

I don't really understand the other reviewers who compare this to Lost, there is really no similarity, so not sure what that is all about.

House of the Dragon
(2022)

Shockingly bad and boring
Unbelievably boring. Just a Middle Ages jousting tournament which seemed to make up half the episode, boring actors with no chemistry, and extremely tedious royal court politics.

Oh and thrown in a few dragons just to remind the audience, that , yes you really are watching Game of Thrones?

Mind you I really loved Game of Thrones, but that had great actors ( nearly everyone in it was brilliant, ) whereas this pathetic offering has terrible actors.

Then it had great plot and story, whereas this is just recycled boring Middle ages England pageantry and house politics.

No sorry, this is a total misfire in every way.

The Old Man
(2022)

Magnificent
I have always loved Jeff Bridges as an actor and he, with John Lithgow, makes this an incredible series.

The suspense and excitement is very well done, the acting, dialogue and the story are all brilliant.

This is a brilliant, mature production for more intelligent, thoughtful viewers, and such a nice change from the usual Marvel teenage fare offered by Hollywood.

What a shame
Being a lifelong sci fi fan and of course I had read the books as a teen.

But I have two words for this series: TEDIOUS and BORING.

All that high budget extravaganza and really just a very disappointing outcome.

Just unbearable to sit through this tedium.

Asimov fans will have been disappointed.

Non sci fi fans would just shake their heads at this rubbish.

Moonhaven
(2022)

There's really bad. Then there's Moonhaven
Did all the talent in Hollywood get sucked up into a black hole?

This is so bad it is just laughable.

Poor dialogue, uninspired acting, ridiculously slow story and nonsensical plot.

It has nothing to hook you in, and I really love sci fi which is why I tuned in.

Hollywood these days seems to think they can populate a show with minority groups for actors and voila! Everything else can be ignored.

This will lead to the death of TV.

Shame.

Awesome entertainment. Critics pretend they hate it
Two things to say about this unexpected pleasure of a movie.

It was awesome in its humour, really great comedy in parts.

Also poignant and the twist at the end is fantastic and unexpected.

I was so amused at the critics falling over themselves to hate on this film 19 rating on rotten tomatoes.

I bet they secretly loved it but it would be too politically incorrect for them to say they actually enjoyed it.

Also they missed the humour in it, it's not meant to be taken too seriously.

Have these critics come fresh out of woke college academy ?

I suppose so.

Moon Knight
(2022)

Awesome. This one surprised me
Really loving this show, and I have to say, pleasantly surprised, as I am kind of over most Marvel stuff.

Excellent acting by the lead Oscar.

He deserves an Oscar !

His Steven character provides the humor needed not to take this too seriously, and the humor is really great, I often find myself laughing out loud.

But the plot is so great, seeing the tension between the two opposite characters .

Awesome stuff.

Dexter: New Blood
(2021)

Magnificent start to one of the best series ever
Dexter was one of the best TV series ever seen so I had very low expectations regarding this new season.

First off, Michael C Hall has hardly aged in 10 years, so it was like just continuing where we left off.

I loved that.

Also the first episode is so cool, to see the slow build up of tension. We see Dexter living this idealic life in his new town, but we know it can't last and the slow build up is masterfully done.

Absolutely loving it so far, hope it continues .

Resident Alien
(2021)

Great fun and commentary on humanity
Alan Tudyk is fantastic and this show is really fun. The concept of examining humanity's idiosyncrasies through the eyes of an alien is really good. Sometimes it takes an outsider to give us a fresh perspective on what it means to be human, and this show does that very well. The setting in a cold Colorado town is really nice . The dark humor is also fun if you have that kind of mind. Give it a try, it's worth it.

Another Life
(2019)

Ignore the bad reviews, this is good
I really don't get all the bad reviews, this show is actually very good. I get the feeling people just start a campaign to rubbish certain shows. I like Katee Sackhoff, so gave this a chance. Despite some casting misgivings, with some actors seeming a bit young and not your classic space astronaut type, I can overlook this because the show is entertaining and well worth watching.

Breaking Bad
(2008)

Some of the best TV ever made
Yes, it's true, this show really is special, and the hype is justified. I never wanted to watch it because shows about drugs don't interest me. But eventually curiosity about all the hype got to me and I started the first episode. Was totally hooked. Wow, what else can be said about this iconic TV phenomenon.

Battlestar Galactica
(2004)

Magnificent Sci Fi Series, and one of the best ever
I am just watching the whole thing through for the second time and enjoying it even more! What a show, and so underappreciated. Brilliant acting by most of the cast , deep philosophy that has you wondering about the nature of humanity itself. It has excitement, suspense and is just a joy of a show. I wish it had gone on longer . I especially loved the acting by Katee Sackhoff as Starbuck, and the understated and powerful performance by Edward James Olmos. Truly memorable series, and not to be missed.

Imawa no Kuni no Arisu
(2020)

Excellent edge of the seat thrills
Loved this. Fun, action packed and totally entertaining. I really like this kind of concept, which was first explored in the Cube Trilogy of movies. This looks like a really fun ride so far.

Caprica
(2009)

Good concepts and acting bogged down by boring drama
This show was ahead of its time. Very deep intelligent sci fi. Great concepts, great acting, beautiful direction and production. At least, it started off that way. Then after episode 3 it really gets bogged down in overly long and tedious back story and family drama , and this detracts from the great sci fi feel of the show at the start. It's a shame. It could have been great but I don't know what the writers were thinking to subsume a great sci fi plot and concept to boring family drama. Sigh

The Kominsky Method
(2018)

Outstanding. The best comedy in years
This show is incredible, and season 2 is even better than the first. Michael Douglas is brilliant in everything he does, and comedy he can definitely do well. The script is so brilliant I can't praise it enough. No forced humour just really natural laughs. I guess also I am at the age where the subject matter is totally relatable so that surely must add to the appeal. If you are over 45 years of age, this show is a must !!

Now and Again
(1999)

Worst TV show ever
I am writing this as a warning to anyone who reads the great reviews here and is about to waste hours of your life that you will never get back. I can't believe the reviews here are of the same show. 22 episodes of nonsense, and the writers take 22 episodes to get to the only plot point that really counts. The rest of the show is like Days of Our Lives. Nothing happens !

Epidemiya
(2019)

Best pandemic series in ages. God bless the Russians!
This is so awesome, I was very pleasantly surprised. Great acting, very excellent mood music to go with every scene. The suspense just keeps you on the edge of your seat. The americans could learn a lot from this on how to make great TV. Absolutely must watch .

The Boys
(2019)

Brilliant on every level
This show is amazing, and I'm surprised it got through all the censors. I love it, on every level. Brilliant satire on the superhero movies and on American consumer and ad driven society. But also incredibly funny thanks to Karl Urban. The red pill blue pill scene made me wet my pants it was so funny. So enjoy.
