Review edit S2 E 01-02 (Reedit) S02E01-02 This season so far looks better... the major issue is short episodes & season which do not do it all justice & leaving for wanting much more. The show has improved, but it takes on a whole universe and time it doesn't have the time to get you involved in. These should be an hour+ long episodes or a show with 12 -20 episodes.
(EDITED- went from a 9 stars with hope to a generous 5 and finally to a 6 at the end of season one) I enjoyed it and like the cast, however there was a lot of development lacking. With the great exec. Producer I hoped for good things in the future of the show. It seriously needs more great acting scenes & situations that bond you to the characters/actors. It took till the last couple episodes to begin to get better, but even then it never finished the job. They make one actress a central part, but then she fizzles off the show and by the end leaves you forgetting all about her and the long parts she took in the show. Where the viewers need great bonding & character development it seems rushed & the bonding moments that are aren't very gripping like they could/should have been if there had been stronger relationships, more loyal deep bonding situations & better/more great delivery scenes. I can think of at least 5 big climaxes in the show that could have been so much better with a better work up to those big moments. In the end I am left with feeling so-so about those whose big moments come, not gripped and invested like great acting and character/relationship development needed to provided.
Sum it up EDIT: Thought it would improve, did briefly toward the end, but left me not invested enough when everything that could have built up to the big moments lacked. The ball was dropped... The actors have individual personalities (some robotic--that makes sense in the beginning) but no strong deliveries are written in or developed and the director doesn't reshoot to get really good lines well delivered. ( I get a lot has to do with casting & writing and also time, but a good director should be able to reshoot scenes until it is a stellar delivery that bonds you with just the exact delivery of lines or to revise it so it can be done; it doesn't happen like that much, however, sadly. The writing is slow & not largely interesting (would be different if good acting/development scenes & great action accompanied) the storyline may have been enough if they knew how to navigate the acting & action, but it is often weak; the few good ones that come are too little and too late. My sentiment is that the show will not last long unless major changes come at the very beginning of a new season. Those involved just need to know how to connect you with the characters & scenes in more gripping ways to make you really get invested in the journey. There is so much lack in everything done... just not enough & not good enough of moments that thrust you into the fire & pull you back out at just the right time.
Come on guys, step up, direct and reshoot until great deliveries are there, up the writing to include great moments and lines that can be well acted and directed.. or just call it quits. Really really wanted to like this, it just seems it is not worth the investment from this season. It is an okay watch, but will leave most, who expect great things, disappointed. Decent 1st episode, decent 8th episode mot much else.
Young actress did well, but her script/scenes really took time away from what was needed for the rest of the show to develop more, even though, with or without them, much more could have been done. It is like she was created to distract and make you think her part was vital, but later find out she wasn't.... nice try, but it fizzled, just feel cheated of time we needed invested elsewhere, or it could have been done better and left us all satisfied with a great distraction.
