Better as it goes, but good none-the-less
I was unsure how such short episodes and a shorter season would be, but with a great actor and a good supporting cast it really surprised us to what they do with a little time. We look forward to longer episodes, more episodes or at least continued parts to episodes to make them really great. This Is Us acting quality in a little series.... great job. Will Trent is our favorite right now, but this comes in at a close second with good delivery. Keep up the good work and we look forward to the next episode. All the makings for a series that can really go somewhere. A little Sterling K. Brown would be phenomenal.....

A Haunting in Venice
(2023)

I was surprised by this latest installment. Well done. Suggestion: filter & read the 7-10 stars for the most accurate reviews.
I am a Kenneth Branagh fan, especially Henry V, but have not been the biggest fan of the past Poirot movies; They were not bad, but not my favorite. This one, however, I really enjoyed. It was more serious and I liked all the actors/acting. If you are a Poirot fan, from Agatha, I believe this one did the character justice. I am a big David Suchet fan as Poirot and I believe this movie and Kenneth's acting did it honor. This type of movie falls right in line with the Poirot series style. I am sure these are not to the taste of everyone, but some will like it some will hate it and a few will love it, I am a fan and i give this one a 9 without trying to hard to compare it to anyone or other movie/series, but on it's own merits as well as the actors. Great choice in casting as i am a fan of these actors as well, whom I will say did their parts justice as well.

Elizabethtown
(2005)

Really liked this movie. It didn't get the reviews it deserved.
Very thoughtful with a lot of meaning and subjects. I enjoyed the acting and people in the movie and would have loved to live in a town where everyone cares and knows you. It is a movie of contrasts & meaning to the point that you could really stop and think about so many topics touched on in this wonderful treasure of a film. I watched this many years after it came out, 19 year to be exact, and the movies great qualities were not lost in time. I would recommend this movie to anyone who loves endearing films and wants to search their thoughts and emotions a bit. Great job to all of the cast and crew.

Will Trent
(2023)

Really good series. 1st Episode was amazing, 2nd add a bit too much lightness.
What I am most impressed about is not only is the lead role actor really good, but the supporting actors make themselves equal to the acting as well. Everyone is on point in this as far as the casting & acting.... Would have loved to see the series follow the makings of the 1st episode, but it changes a bit after it. It does add a little humor and silly music which lightens the really good drama and acting a bit in subtle ways, but not all the time. All I can say is, I hope this is not another 'few episodes' series, and increases in episodes in the coming seasons. I am really getting a distaste for shows with few episodes and dumb music, sounds and short seasons..... where are the 'Suits', 'Homeland', and 'The Americans', shows that come on with it with lots of awesome episodes all at peak quality? This is not bad at all, but the 1st episode, again, would be a nice place to get back to.

Something from Tiffany's
(2022)

Started a little rocky, but a great watch. Good cast. Many undeserved 1's & low scores in reviews
It started a little bumpy from Zoey, a bit awkward and overdone, but quickly, the genuineness and real acting of the cast came to the top & what made it very enjoyable, was just that. It was a bit of a different take on a movie like this, but each scene & the enactments of them brought a sincere effort and great delivery of emotions and scripting. Overall it was cohesive & well put together making the end a satisfying experience (Not revealing anything at all by the comment, since I am particularly satisfied with great delivery & writing and not necessarily 'good endings').

If you appreciate good acting and storytelling, this is worth a watch in my opinion.

The Brothers Sun
(2024)

Could be better, not 'Warrior', but has potential.
Some good actors but the attempts at comedy are not that good. The series could do well if they allow the actors to make it more serious acting/scripting and go from there. I really want to like this and am giving it the 7 instead of a 6 because most of the actors could excel with less meaningless poorly developed comedy and better serious plot. I will change the rating depending on if they get to a 2nd season and correct the portions that keep them at risk of non-renewal. I would recommend watching Warrior, as it has all the right elements to make a really great similar show. Warrior needs better air time/slot and advertising, but is tremendous & could be well learned from... maybe even hire some of the people from the series to help.

The Retirement Plan
(2023)

Too bad, but 5 is about right sorry to say. A couple good moments, but not much else.
This movie suffers from poor scripting and directing. It has some good actors who have poorly written script lines, and not too well delivered mostly. Nicholas Cage just isn't that committed to the acting, while some of the rest of the actors do pretty good, just with little to work with. The movie could have had potential, but just didn't live up to it. It has a couple chuckles and tries to be a comedy/drama, with not many good comedic lines or commitment. The movie suffers from the attempts to be funny without any really good or well timed lines/deliveries.

If the movie were made serious without the poor attempts at comedy, with a couple exceptions and someone could direct it better to get just the right timing and expressions/deliveries it may have been better. It used some 90's level flashing of the names of people that looked dated and generic without really being cohesive to the movie ( as say, maybe for an Ocean's Eleven movie).

Alice, Darling
(2022)

Very Underrated due to serious emotion & subject Tremendously well done
This is a movie that touches difficult subjects and pain that brings us face to face with hard realities & struggles and therefore does not get high ratings or praise. It will leave you uncomfortable and vulnerable and essentially raw, but the journey, truth & confrontation is more than worth it IF you can face and stare and confront the demons within us or around us all. Not for the faint of heart or those who have not truly entered the real admitting the truth stage, but for those who are interested, the performances, writing and directing are brilliant as well as the casting and producing. I can not say enough. This is not an entertainment piece... It is truly the 'Independent film quality type' that should, but likely won't, win the awards and recognition it/they truly deserve.

The Covenant
(2023)

If any movie deserves a 10 This one does. If you are disappointed at all I don't know what to say.
This was so well done in every imaginable aspect that nothing could have been added to make it any better. This I can not see not being nominated & winning many awards. The whole team seen and unseen lived and breathed this movie as if it was their actual lives. Watch this movie and be inspired and proud of the men and women represented in this masterpiece.

This is, without a doubt Guy Richie's masterpiece and a legacy that I hope continues and grows. The actors were ALL amazing and everyone behind the scene worthy of every award possible.

I would recommend this to anyone needing to know what commitment, honor or courage really is and means.

Triangle of Sadness
(2022)

Thank you for such a wonderful meaningful experience to have been a part of. A true treasure among films.
This show has a lot more thought levels and depth to it than I originally thought. It is for the thinker and the explorer of life. A true 'independent-worthy', that is exactly what I value and expect in a great thought provoking independent film. From the very beginning and each scene after, the stage was being set. Everything was well thought out and planned, everyone doing their part expertly and each nuance contributing to the whole that I felt the level of this film was worthy of 10 stars in a way that action and thrills or even well used emotional scenes/lines could never compare to. This film and the actors, in my humble opinion, are worthy of many more awards than the have and probably ever will receive. Thank you to all the cast crew and creators/directors etc. For such a wonderful meaningful experience to have been a part of. A true treasure among films.

Mayfair Witches
(2023)

Mediocre. Not great acting, budget or CGI and the writing is slow. 80's quality low budget flick.
This would need a bigger budget better acting and writing for it to have any hope. Obviously the budget for a great director to work a miracle with the lack is not in the cards. The script doesn't engage and grip you the acting is weak and the little budget for CGI is bad, if any one thing was redeemable it may help the other parts that lacked, but there is not much saving grace here at all. It is much like an 80's late night low budget flick on one of the off channels, which gives it it's only quality of enjoyment as a trip down memory lane nostalgia. Unfortunately this show will probably not last long, not even on A & E.

House of the Dragon
(2022)

Nothing close to the Original series. Show keeps getting worse; tried Episode 8 Please read and find the missing link/s..
With the tremendous cast of Game of Thrones , the phenomenal acting across the board episode after episode, there is no way to compare this to that. Somewhere, somehow they lost a key figure or figures involved in the making and production of G. O. T. Whoever the person or persons were that made nearly every actor/character and every plot and nearly ever scene so amazing either did not return or were not asked to return and it has made ALL the difference. Someone or ones were an artistic genius/s and they are not here anymore sadly. It is so/so and has a few moments here and there. Matt Smith, being the one that stands out above the rest and even Fabien F. Others are not given the best parts or expected to perform as all did in G. O. T., without Fabien and Matt I will feel very cheated entirely instead of mostly. Hopefully with the cast switch soon it will begin to gain 'something' , but clearly the behind the scenes wondermaker or makers are gone and I hope, since everyone holds on to wht legacy and longing G. O. T. Left us with comes back in someway even in part. PLEASE bring whoever it was Back to help if a season 2 even happens. G. O. T. Had the magic and genius the likes of which are rarely seen.. Who were those genius that didn't follow to this one??? Will you please stand up and come back? Find them! Pay them whatever you have to to make them come back... I'm not into all the nudity and such, however, in G. O. T. Almost everything made you feel some strong emotion or like being caught up in the world and characters to Love , hate and love again the best and worst. It was a rare and privileged world to have experienced and people are still chasing after it in HOTD, but it is not there but in remnants and rumors. The music still captivates and reminds us, but most of the performances and script do not bring us back.

UPDATE (Boring Boring Boring and no real acting at all now, by Episode 8).

Maybe.. Hopefully.. Please..? If the Hound were still around and saw this he would surely say what a bunch of f. C@#@@.

Thor: Love and Thunder
(2022)

Such a shame...
With Chris Hemsworth's incredible acting ability and with all the other work he has been involved in, we are a huge fan; regarding this ridiculos take on the role of a once well loved character (a fan for literally decades) the Thor of Stan Lee is nowhere to be seen even in dreams of yesterday. Stan Lee would have died if he were still with us, to see such a travesty on such a beloved character made to be a joke, a Very Bad Joke. Chris.... get out while you can.... this will make Marvel fans really label you as a pun to be associated with what NOT to be and with such talent outside of this and in the past roles as Thor as well of yesterday, please don't do this anymore if this is all someone is making it out to be. I am so disappointed in Disney (happens all the time now) and what Marvel has become... I'd hate to see you in such things anymore and would even rather them kill Thor than do this to him. Kat D. Is wonderful, but they gave her no parts, yet in the couple minutes I was still glad to see her and hear her. Christian B. Did wonderfully amidst such a travesty. Natalie... it was good to see her back, but they did her no justice. Great to see the GoftheG cast. Russel's role was a joke (bad). Melissa (Nope) Luke Peter Matt ... always good to see them... so many with great talent reduced to a bad script bad directing and producing and lack of respect and insight into the Marvel Stan Lee and company created and we all loved. Seems DC is switching roles and starting to take it all more serious while Disney's Marvel (Daredevil hopefully still excluded and remainin,g great with the team who made it all and with Jessica, Luke, Frank Danny and the great support cast of each Shades, Claire. John, Rev (R. I. P.) Malcolm.

The Marvel I always loved slowly dies with each new instalment. I will always remember the Marvel while Stan Lee lived and became so awesome as to make the comics of my youth even better. Stan Lee -- Excelsior !!!! ...even if we are only going downward, your legacy will never be forgotten and will be very sorely missed.

The Capture
(2019)

This is incredible. Another great show and actors, so well done. Like Homeland/The Americans
Really Really well done.

If you like Homeland and The Americans and good shows like these, you will love this show. It always leaves us wanting more. So sad it is not publicized like the other shows on bigger networks. Watch it give it a try you will not be disappointed. It is not perfect, but with all it has and does it will make up for whatever may slip through a crack or two. See it through detective/police drama fans.

I hope this show goes on for a long time and they don't kill off good actors in the show....... Thank you BBC for a great show. We will definitely be fans and keep an eye out for other great shows in the future. This show deserves big awards.

Top Gun: Maverick
(2022)

Rarely ever are sequels as good.... but this one was.
It was a true please for us in watching this. I was leary in the sequel, as the sequel usually disappoints. This was like watching the best of the first movie with putting in a whole new greatness that wove the two together perfectly. If someone says they didn't like this movie, then they just don't like Top Gun or something.

_ This review does not need a lot of words, as the movie will speak for itself .This was incredibly impressive and in no way disappointed, but far exceeded all expectations. We have rarely ever seen a sequel as good as such and iconic movie as Top Gun, but whatever and whoever we have to thank.. Thank you.

Reservation Dogs
(2021)

Really funny and great show & I'm not easy w/ Comedies.
Very real and quaint with good witty humor and extremely well done in every aspect. Look forward to more seasons, and Pumpkin Lusty X-D and our Spirit guide Oooo Oooo Oooo !!!!

The Americans
(2013)

Really Awesome series and acting. This could have went on much longer.
Really Awesome series and acting. This could have went on much longer. Really Really hope the do an after series tie-in. This was underrated and should be all 10's.

Bosch: Legacy
(2022)

Love Love Love This Bosch guy and his whole ensemble
You can't get better than this down to earth real acting. Love detective shows, Love Titus and Love Bosch. You can't go wrong with this.... More please!

Death on the Nile
(2022)

Kenneth was at his best
Really loved Kenneth's acting in Henty V and many others earlier works ; this role was truly among his best in acting. The other's acting ranged from okay to good. Kenneth did a masterful job in acting this role & in portraying/ being true to the well loved role of Poirot. I wish I could do separate ratings for Kenneth's role and the rest. To be fair though, Gal's acting was not bad and was probably the next best.

Wasn't a fan of the overly raunchy sexuality and many of the other actors could have been more invested, but those are also casting , writing & directing issues too.

Young Wallander
(2020)

Very solid acting and good content. More of a new perspective young Wallander.
If you like shows well done and acted with lower budget and not a lot of minute to minute filler, this is a great show. Love Henning Mankell's series. Even though this doesn't have a high budget, it doesn't make it low quality at all; quite the contrary. Most people now-a-days like fast action, big budget and special effects; this is not that, however the characters/actors are true to life and very substantial.

The show is not well publicized, w/ little to no attention drawn to it, there are many fast paced audience individuals who review it for not meeting their preferences & few quality reviewers who appreciate the substance and quality of on point acting and writing... that being said, Don't watch it if you aren't someone who appreciates a developing plot with characters & writing that focus on quality rather than quantity.

Does it miss timelines and details of the other Wallander series, yes, it ups the series to more modern related times. Is it that big of a deal, in my opinion, not at all. Reviewers are way too caught up in the title and expectations of relating it to the Wallander series detail for detail, but, if you watch it with an open mind and rate it by the acting and substance, it is very well done. I hope they advertise it more and we get more quality reviewers and much less of the complaining ones. It is European and follows the European style more than the Western style; for me that is a plus.

Halo
(2022)

Review edit S2 E 01-02
(Reedit) S02E01-02 This season so far looks better... the major issue is short episodes & season which do not do it all justice & leaving for wanting much more. The show has improved, but it takes on a whole universe and time it doesn't have the time to get you involved in. These should be an hour+ long episodes or a show with 12 -20 episodes.

(EDITED- went from a 9 stars with hope to a generous 5 and finally to a 6 at the end of season one) I enjoyed it and like the cast, however there was a lot of development lacking. With the great exec. Producer I hoped for good things in the future of the show. It seriously needs more great acting scenes & situations that bond you to the characters/actors. It took till the last couple episodes to begin to get better, but even then it never finished the job. They make one actress a central part, but then she fizzles off the show and by the end leaves you forgetting all about her and the long parts she took in the show. Where the viewers need great bonding & character development it seems rushed & the bonding moments that are aren't very gripping like they could/should have been if there had been stronger relationships, more loyal deep bonding situations & better/more great delivery scenes. I can think of at least 5 big climaxes in the show that could have been so much better with a better work up to those big moments. In the end I am left with feeling so-so about those whose big moments come, not gripped and invested like great acting and character/relationship development needed to provided.

Sum it up EDIT: Thought it would improve, did briefly toward the end, but left me not invested enough when everything that could have built up to the big moments lacked. The ball was dropped... The actors have individual personalities (some robotic--that makes sense in the beginning) but no strong deliveries are written in or developed and the director doesn't reshoot to get really good lines well delivered. ( I get a lot has to do with casting & writing and also time, but a good director should be able to reshoot scenes until it is a stellar delivery that bonds you with just the exact delivery of lines or to revise it so it can be done; it doesn't happen like that much, however, sadly. The writing is slow & not largely interesting (would be different if good acting/development scenes & great action accompanied) the storyline may have been enough if they knew how to navigate the acting & action, but it is often weak; the few good ones that come are too little and too late. My sentiment is that the show will not last long unless major changes come at the very beginning of a new season. Those involved just need to know how to connect you with the characters & scenes in more gripping ways to make you really get invested in the journey. There is so much lack in everything done... just not enough & not good enough of moments that thrust you into the fire & pull you back out at just the right time.

Come on guys, step up, direct and reshoot until great deliveries are there, up the writing to include great moments and lines that can be well acted and directed.. or just call it quits. Really really wanted to like this, it just seems it is not worth the investment from this season. It is an okay watch, but will leave most, who expect great things, disappointed. Decent 1st episode, decent 8th episode mot much else.

Young actress did well, but her script/scenes really took time away from what was needed for the rest of the show to develop more, even though, with or without them, much more could have been done. It is like she was created to distract and make you think her part was vital, but later find out she wasn't.... nice try, but it fizzled, just feel cheated of time we needed invested elsewhere, or it could have been done better and left us all satisfied with a great distraction.

Wu-Tang: An American Saga
(2019)

This is True Genuine and Absolutely Amazing!
What a treasure to bring something from years ago to life today with as much fire and sword as back in the day... Amazing actors who get the real life counterparts dead on, amazing storyline and script to make you live it and want more and more & just amazing consultation/directing/writing/producing..... I am a true fan and brought to life again searching the old and new songs, interviews and info. Went and got the documentary that came out and really REALLY hope they go beyond a season 3... How can you stop something this good.. We want MORE !!!! Do you hear me??? We want more, Don't stop.. WU-TANG CLAN FOREVER< Movin' on yo LEFT !!!!

Cyrus
(2010)

Very well written acted and produced.
The meanings all come together by the end and everything was expertly done. Not something people who need a high budget, action-packed or for a quick solve would like but it takes you through real life situations and experiences with a little added humor and takes you to a place that brings good real life victories and overcoming to form a well rounded theme and amazing insight with almost nothing as far as budget. Tremendous acting, creation and execution. Won't win the hearts and praise of many except for thinkers and those who appreciate and understand independent films; of which this is a gem.

Blindsided
(2021)

Not very much was put into this.
I agree with poor details being distracting. There were so many little things that just wouldn't happen the way they did, it was very poorly thought out and choreographed. Natasha does have potential, but with so much wrong with the movie and those over it, not much was believable. I had a bunch of points, but kept turning it off and going back to finish it to see if anything was redeeming, so I got mind numbed by it. I do remember this, though, the girl walks slowly around while killers are near, the killers walk slowly and just stop to relax, no one leaves the house with killers about, the girl & Natasha laugh and reminisce while killers are around.... I wanted to pull my hair out... stuff like this and bad gun scenes etc. Are all this has.

Killing Eve
(2018)

Jodie Comer, the star of the show.
Another good show getting cancelled. Jodie Comer's performance and good support really made the show worth watching. Sorry it is ending in 2022.
