The Suicide Squad
(2021)

I've got what I wanted in general.
I have to admit that at first, I did not care about the movie at all because I thought it would be impossible to introduce around 15 characters in only one film and did not trust DC. However, after I saw that many people liked the movie, I started to expect something. And I can happily say that movie meet my expectations and I liked it. So now it is time for me to say that DC is starting to redeem itself.

I expected this movie to have entertaining scenes and characters with some gore in it, so as you can guess, I left the cinema saloon very happily. James Gunn nailed to make the movie extremely entertaining. He also succeeded in introducing many characters to us sympathetically in a single film. I think he has a great style, but I still think that the film got too childish at some moments even though it is R-rated. As I said, I loved his style in general, especially for action scenes, but when many titles show up, and every character is trying to be funny, it just does not feel like an actual film. I also liked that the movie had a clear story. It did not change its focus and still gave us a plot twist, although I still think that they may have worked on that plot twist a bit more. I also think that film sometimes tried to become too emotional but instead killed the vibe. I loved how the film made brave choices, and I will not mention anything further for no spoilers.

My final remarks: I think it was a genuinely entertaining movie, and I would suggest you expect something less serious.

A Quiet Place Part II
(2020)

Everything was great until the end.
I can easily say that this second movie of A Quiet Place managed to be as scary as the first one with having more tempo.

Even though now we got used to the appearance of those monsters and know that they are killable, I still got terrified in every scene that has those monsters. I had thought that those monsters would feel like zombies from the movies that are just there to create some action sequences and die after that since we now know about them more. However, I was wrong. Those monsters were still terrifying, like in the first movie. I believe that camera angles and music have a lot of influence on that, so I think the director, John Krasinski, has done an excellent job. The movie had a strong opening, which I believe ended a bit abruptly and too soon. When we first saw that thing like a huge fireball was falling from the sky, I had goosebumps. I also loved Cillian Murphy's character, Emmett. But, I can't understand why he is okay to do anything when someone merely "pretty pleases" him after he clearly states that he will never do that or help them.

There are other things that tangled me as well. After Emily Blunt's character Evelyn leaves the shelter to grab some medicine, I couldn't reason why the hell the kid Marcus left that shelter. I think a coward character like him leaving the shelter does not make any sense. I think the only reason he left there was to get into trouble and give us something to watch. In addition to that, when Marcus saw the skeletons behind the curtains, I expected to see something revealing an evil secret of Emmett. It just turned out to be something to scare him so that monsters can come.

I expected to see more from Djimon Hounsou's character since they showed him in the trailers and introduced him like he might play a considerable role in the future. I felt quite disappointed when I saw him die after 15 minutes after his introduction to the film because as I said, I pictured him in my head to be more important. Last but not least, the thing that tangled me the most is how the hell did that monster manage to come to the island with that boat by itself. The explanation might be something like the water flow, but I still think that this thing has to be clarified. Those were just the little things that confused me a bit. It did not really affect my watching pleasure, but the next thing that I'm going to talk about did.

I feel something incomplete about the ending. The movie just ended while it deserved a proper final that resolved most of the things. I am aware that they did this to give something to part III, but I think it is enough. Because they just ended abruptly, it does not feel like a complete film and leaves a weird taste in your mouth. It would still be okay if they presented a paragraph about what happened afterward because it would at least settle the story. Finally, they demonstrate that children killing those monsters is an important thing, even though we already knew that they can kill them. Even if they end the movie abruptly, it's better to show something that will change everything, similar to the first movie. It would be much better if someone else from far away that we do not know killed the monster because it would show that now everyone knows how to kill them with the help of the broadcast.

That was all I can say about the movie. Even the end troubled me; I still had a lot of fun watching it. On the other hand, I still believe that ending in a movie is so important.

Loki
(2021)

WOW
First of all, I did not have much of an expectation before I started the Loki series. I didn't even have any information about the concept of the series before I watched the first episode. I did not look at any theory articles or YouTube videos for this series, unlike what I did for WandaVision. For that reason, this series genuinely shocked me.

The whole series was very original, in my opinion. There might be older TV series similar to this, but I have never seen a story like this before. Although this series mostly consists of dialogues more than action sequences, I still watched it with great interest because it's for sure that they did not waste any word in their conversations. Every dialogue revealed something significant about the characters themselves and the story. Even though the series lacked action, every episode ended in an epic way that I couldn't wait for what will happen. It makes you feel hyped without using fighting every time. Most of the characters are well done by their actors also. For example, Owen Wilson did an excellent job with Mobius that I forgot who he was in real life. That is what I would call great acting in MCU. Finally, I liked everything about costume and set designs (except the Time Keepers). These things that I've mentioned are the qualities that enable us to get into the world of Loki and make it enjoyable to watch. I think this is one of Marvel's greatest works.

However, there were also some things that troubled me a bit. Except for the first episode, I don't really believe that that's the same Loki we watched in the first Avengers movie. It seemed to me that his behavior has changed in a really brief time after TVA caught him (not a spoiler because we know it from the trailers). Even his hair is shorter from the Avengers movie and Loki series. I also think that the whole DB Copper thing was very unnecessary. Finally, I didn't like Wunmi Mosaku's performance as Hunter B-15. It seemed fake to me.

Overall, I genuinely liked the TV series, and it is outstanding.

Black Widow
(2021)

To be honest, I got disappointed.
After a very long time, we finally got a chance to watch a new Marvel movie. I really missed watching one of Marvel's good superhero movies, especially a hero from the original six, who we haven't seen its film yet. However, I had lost interest in the movie because of the long break, and I did not have many expectations. I thought that it would be a classic and average Marvel movie. Unfortunately, the film was even less than I expected.

If we divide the movie into two halves, I would say that the first half satisfied me. Even though there were still things that I didn't like as a whole, which I will come back to them, the first half of the movie had a clear story and goal. Taskmaster was also looking cool and scary; it reminded me of the WinterSoldier. It was what I define as a classic Marvel movie.

On the other hand, the second half of the movie lost its focus. Many weird things start to happen one after the other. There were moments (for example, the flashbacks of the original plan) that felt very cliche. The Taskmaster also turned out to be not the guy many of us thought.

Now, let's talk about the things that I did not like in general. I think the movie failed to introduce the main bad guy of the film, Dreykov, and the story of BlackWidow. As I told you, I liked the first half. Nevertheless, these things troubled me mainly in the first half. The film has brief scenes that are about the past of BlackWidow and Dreykov (flashbacks that are like a maximum of 5 minutes). I believe that it does not give us the necessary back story of the Red Room. And because the film revolves around those lacked scenes, I just started to not give a damn about what they were talking about and what was happening towards the end. In my opinion, the main reason behind this is that they focused on Yelena and that family issue more than BlackWidow itself. I think they could have reduced some of the dialogue scenes to show us more flashbacks, but still, it wouldn't be enough. It would be much better if they just focused on BlackWidow and the RedRoom. I also think that Natasha is not the same person that we know from the other movies. I believe the reason for this is also because the film is not focused on her. In addition, it would be cooler if Taskmaster was the master of the RedRoom and the main villain of the movie.

I normally would have given 5.5, but there isn't such an option, and because of my respect for Marvel itself, I will give 6.

Minari
(2020)

It did not meet my expectations, but I still like it.
Minari was a great family film that I have entertained while I was watching. It contains beautiful life lessons and illustrates the family conflicts perfectly. The film touches on the family structure very well and beautifully narrates the story. However, there are a few points I would like to mention that concerned me. Although the film begins engagingly, it loses its focus and becomes more and more monotone as it goes on. I also think that even film aims to tell about immigrants, it felt more like telling a story of a family that has some issues with each other. I know that the source of this issue is moving to America, but I think that this movie is more about family conflicts rather than immigrating somewhere and creating a new life there. Finally, the ending of the film kind of annoyed me. I believe it was too short and does not mention how did the events resolve.

To conclude, I expected something that I would think more about it, on the other hand, I would still say that it is an ordinary family film that most people would enjoy watching.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
(2021)

It is a great TV series in a movie quality.
I really enjoyed watching the Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Marvel didn't just throw it away because it is just a tv show. It has a quality of a movie and a great story. It has really well action sequences like in the movies. What I have said also applies to the visual effects. Character development was extremely good. We had seen many characters' changes throughout the series: Falcon, Bucky, John Walker, and more. Every episode was great on its own. Although, it did not make me feel excited about the next episode as it did in the Wanda Vision. There wasn't really much of a mystery in the series; that's why maybe I didn't get excited that much. I did not also fully understand the goal of Flag-Smashers. Like, they're talking about change and migrants all the time, but it would be better if they made it clear. It made an early ending, in my opinion. I would really like to watch more. There was also a Star Wars-like celebration at the end of the series. I didn't hate it, but I also wouldn't prefer it to be that similar. To sum up, this series changes many things for the MCU. It was also a great mini-series that you would probably have a lot of fun while watching. It also has some extreme scenes, but I do not want to give any spoilers.

Sound of Metal
(2019)

My honest opinion
Some things trouble me about this movie. I think the acting was not an Oscar performance. I would like Ruben to have some trouble with controlling his voice level while he is talking. However, I liked his performance in a way. He handled to demonstrate his hopes about his condition and inner conflicts without directly showing it to us. I can say that Riz Ahmed did a great job at that.

I did not like the story. I like it when movies have strong beginnings and calm endings. But, in this movie, nothing happens in between (Act 2). I did not also understand what it really tries to tell the audience. I now it shows us the deaf community and how Rubert's life changes. But it was just so long and slow that you can't really follow after a moment. I did not also understand Lou. I do not want to give spoilers, but I just didn't understand what is her deal. I guess this movie just isn't for me.

The Father
(2020)

It was something that I have never experienced before.
The Father was a well-done movie. There were many things that I have liked about it. First of all, Anthony Hopkin's acting was incredible. He excellently represented the inner conflicts and emotions of his character that the audience also felt. He is one of the best names in acting even when he is old. Secondly, storytelling was incredible. This kind of storytelling is something that many of us have never experienced before. Even though it got really confusing, it felt really realistic in a way that you think you are actually suffering from it. With the combination of storytelling and acting, you can easily get into the story. Finally, the length of the movie was just okay. I think it would get really out of hand if the movie was about 2.30 hours long.

However, I didn't like the complexity that the movie tries to create very much. I know it is the point of it, but it starts to make everything harder for the audience, in my opinion. I believe it is not a good idea to reveal the truth after creating so much confusion. I think this way because, after a moment, you can't remember every detail about the previous scenes, and it becomes hard for you to make connections and realize the reality in the movie. I know that the last scene of the film was powerful. But it still annoyed me a bit and dropped my pleasure of watching because I couldn't grasp what was actually going on. Maybe, that is the point.

Sen Hiç Ates Böcegi Gördün Mü?
(2021)

I did not expect that,
I watched the movie with zero expectations, and I was happy. Despite terrible CGI and make-up, it was a great movie. It entertained and made me sad at the same time. The first thirty minutes of the film seem very useless to plot, and nothing really goes on. It had a comedy vibe, but nothing was funny. Except for Ecem Erkek, she was funny. I really liked her performance.

The movie opens like a flower while you watch it and becomes much more meaningful. However, character development is weak. Much thing goes on around Gülseren, and only in the last scenes, we see a change in her character. I think the film could have been much better, but it is still a good movie to watch.

Godzilla vs. Kong
(2021)

I am going to be very honest.
I didn't like the film. There were some scenes that I enjoyed. However, I couldn't get what I had expected. Whole the Hollow Earth thing was pretty bad. Why didn't we heard of it before? It seems really absurd when they introduce major things just like that. I believe scriptwriters just made it up so that they can give Kong an ax. Also, spaceship-like vehicles just inconsistent with the previous movies.

The story of human characters is terrible and not sympathetic. Every seen about them was boring. In my opinion, giving child characters adult roles is just really unrealistic.

Fight scenes were not that bad. I enjoyed them. However, I am not really a fan of giant creatures jumping around and moving athletically. In my opinion, it does not give the impression of gigantic creatures fighting. It would be much better if they were moving much slower like in the first movie of Godzilla.

Zack Snyder's Justice League
(2021)

I hope they will restore the Snyderverse
Zack Snyder's Justice League was a good movie. I enjoyed it while watching it, and I can say that it is better than the first two Avenger movies. Zack Snyder proved to the audience that he has a unique vision.

DC movies' dark tone was something that I have liked, and I am grateful that they regained the dark tones. The film is not trying to be funny with stupid jokes and scenes. Characters were well developed and not weird, unlike Joss Whedon's Justice League. Cyborg was one of the significant elements of this film and expressed very well even the film contains several characters. The film manages to introduce every character and takes time for it. It does not rush. Everyone had much more importance in the movie, which made the audience remind that what they are watching is going to be great. Darkseid was well presented and made the audience understand that he is someone that we should fear. There were classical Snyder scenes in the movie.

Even I liked most of the scenes, there were some that I found a bit over dramatized. The movie loses so much time at those scenes and makes you think it could have been shorter than four hours. I liked the new design of Steppenwolf, but his armor seems too unrealistic and gives it away that it is animated. I would like to see that Steppenwolf was stronger. Wonder Woman's song sounds nice and mythical when you first hear it, but it starts to annoy you after a while because of its repetition.

To sum up, it was not a perfect movie. However, I had a great time while I was watching it. I am happy that Warner Bros let us see the real Justice League and did not expect us to be okay with the first Justice League. I would like to learn what will happen and see more of Snyder's vision. I hope they will restore the Snyderverse.

WandaVision
(2021)

A great superhero drama
Wanda Vision is a tv series that I really liked. I did not expect to get interested in it because I did not understand much from the trailers. I realized that actually, the mystery of this tv series is what makes it good. As the audience, we got deep into Wanda's character and felt his traumas and depression with her. Marvel managed to demonstrate the emotions very well. The episodes got more interesting every time and gave the audience exciting hints for the next episode, made people wait for the Friday impatiently. It is very successful at hyping people. It has a great way of storytelling which the story enlightens and completes itself as the episodes go on.

On the other hand, there were also things in this TV series that made me upset. The first episodes seemed sort of unnecessary to me. There wasn't really an event going around throughout those episodes, and I believe that they could have combined all of them in one episode so that they would have released more episodes with major events. People also expected to see more things at the end of the Wanda Vision but got disappointed in the final. I was one of those people who got disappointed. The Series got exciting in every episode and naturally increased the expectations, but fan theories boosted people's expectations. Besides the fan theories, I also thought that more things could have happened since they told us that this Tv series plays a significant role in the upcoming movie Doctor Strange 2. I also believe that the last episode could have been divided into two episodes, so that fight sequences and the drama scenes would have been more emphasized.

In summary, even it doesn't meet many people's expectations, Wanda Vision was a great TV series with excellent drama and good action sequences. I would ensure that many people will be glad to finish it. I know that not much has happened for many people, but it still has to be watched to understand what will happen in the Phase 4.

The White Tiger
(2021)

I would recommend this movie.
I think it is a good movie with an interesting topic. I really liked how they adapted it to Indian culture. However, there are some things about the movie that made me upset. The movie sometimes remains very stable on one point and loses time. Thus, the tempo in the film drops in certain moments. There were some moments towards the end of the movie that I wished the film to focus on them more. I felt like some of the events at the end of the movie were quickly overtaken due to the repetitions in the story before.

In conclusion, I believe that it is a movie that will worth your time. I think it could have been better, but I had a great time while I was watching it. In my opinion, it was gripping even though after the things that I have just said. This movie made me remember Parasite and The Talented Mr. Ripley movies.

Soul
(2020)

This... does put a smile on my face
I liked the film a lot. Even though this movie is mainly targeting the younger audience, it addresses the main issues of life and living that concern adults more. The film has a beautiful and powerful message plus, the theme of the film is expressed to the audience in a very original way. By knowing more of the main characters' inner worlds and their passion, the audience can empathize with the characters; thus, the story is conveyed much more beautifully and effectively. Other than that, both voice acting and animations are pretty good. In some scenes, the animation was so good that I thought it was real.

Unfortunately, there are also some things that I do not really like about this film. I think the ending is too short, and it felt like it ends just like that. Events are also very predictable, but the thing that really annoyed me is that there is a character who is pretty mysterious to the audience because after her name is said in a scene, the film does not mention her anymore.

In conclusion, although some things bothered me, the movie has a good story and approaches a beautiful subject very well. I think a lot of people need to watch it.

Wonder Woman 1984
(2020)

Not a sequel.
I didn't love the film in general. I think the film has shortcomings in many ways. First of all, I should mention that this movie, which is quite different from the previous Wonder Women movie, was more like another version of the first movie than a sequel. They are trying to do something different in this movie. However, it was very upsetting to watch a much more different Wonder Women from that very strong and fearless Wonder Woman in the previous film. Also, the film is not connected to the first film at all either. I have nothing more to say about this decision they have made because there may be someone who does not like this decision as who loves it. One of the things that annoyed me was that the film lost time with unnecessary scenes and sometimes lost its focus. Some moments seemed to be happening for no specific reason, and the events that could be considered significant were also developing very rapidly. I wish the movie would have devoted more time to the unfolding of events and Wonder Woman herself rather than wasting time with scenes that didn't contribute to the story. Speaking of Wonder Woman, it was like she wasn't as if she was the main character in the film. In my opinion, although they attempted to get into the character's inner world (only her love life), they conveyed her in a very superficial way, so I didn't care much about her as I couldn't empathize with her throughout the film. The reason that I think in this way is because of the more screen time that the main villain has. Our villain had no logical purpose and a plan to accomplish whatever he wants to. Also, we mostly see what the villain is doing in the movie rather than knowing him properly. Watching a film with a poorly made villain and an unfocused superhero was quite annoying for me. Lastly, I want to mention that a message or a situation is told so directly in the film that it shows the film is taking the easy way and not allowing the audience to understand by itself. So, as a result, I think there are shortcomings even though I'm aware the film is trying something different. For this reason, although I appreciate what they tried to do, my score for the movie will not be high.
