Luckiest Girl Alive
(2022)

Terrible
There were moments where I saw the potential, but there was never any follow through. Writing was poor, pacing was even worse. When you start to think something finally interesting is going to happen, it's just met with uninteresting dialogue. I think it's time I commit to giving up on Netflix, the budget they put in horrible movies year after year is getting tired. Just when I thought "finally, my subscription is worth something" I am met with another disappointment that shouldn't even be called cinema. Lots of plot holes, lots of things that didn't even make sense and lastly, lots of nothing. If you're watching this from a free subscription from your ex, and you're so bored with absolutely nothing else to do then sure watch it. But if you value your time, avoid.

The Gray Man
(2022)

What was the point?
Unsure what the point of the movie was...don't get me wrong, it's not a terrible movie. Action movies generally can't be that bad due to the fact that 70% are action scenes and rest is for good writing. But I just don't really see the actual point of the movie? The drive was destroyed...no one got exposed, he saved the little girl but for what? Her uncle/dad(?) is dead. And why are they still going after Six when the drive is already retrieved and destroyed? Just all seems pointless to me....there was no real climax per say. It was kind of just like....here is a 20 million dollar movie with heaps of guns and some cool fight scenes.

First Kill
(2022)

Unwatchable.
I really wanted to love it cause Emma Roberts is involved, when I realised it wasn't going to be anything ground breaking, I lowered my standards to try to even just like it. That also didn't happen. It's basically 10% dialogue and 90% of overbearing loud music. Music and scores are meant to seamlessly blend into scenes to enhance the scenes, not to be the thing doing the acting for the actors. Not sure if it's just terrible script or terrible actors, or both. Netflix really has no consistency, they make 1 good show or movie and everything else for the next couple years is only worth being turned off.

Morbius
(2022)

Not as bad as the reviews
Personally not a big fan of Leto myself, however the trailer looked dark for Marvel so it got me curious. Went in with no expectations and to be honest, the movie was really enjoyable. By no means it is a masterpiece but the action scenes were fun and overall make up of the "beast" was quite terrifying. Pleasantly surprised, leave your biased opinions at home and just watch it for what it is and I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Big plus that it's under 2 hours so it didn't drag anything out. Great length, good action scenes and open ending. Nothing to complain about other than maybe I'd love a few more action scenes. Watching how the "creature" moves and fights is different from what I've seen in any other movie so would definitely have loved to see more of that.

The King's Man
(2021)

Nothing like the other two movies.
Terrible. Absolutely terrible. The other two movies were as successful as they were because they were fun to watch with really unique fight scenes. This had none of that. All it had was war - might I add, was never marketed in any of the trailers that this entire movie would be about war. Had I known, I would have never paid to see. Script and pacing was questionable - again, nothing like the other two movies. If you're going to see this thinking it's another kingmans movie, I suggest just stay home. It felt like a completely different movie all together, kinda just like the all other 36384747 war movies that already exist.

Thelma
(2017)

Took me by surprise
Nordic cinema never misses, and this movie is solid proof of that. The style of shooting, the pacing and the editing really keeps the audience questioning the direction it's going in. I personally enjoyed the suspense of not fully knowing the genre of this movie, til the big reveal. I can't really fault this movie except one thing - the ending. I felt it was quite rushed, some movies like to leave you still questioning at the end but this one left a lot of big questions, questions that I felt a 2 hour movie could have explained. Would have been 10 stars from me if it wasn't for that, but other than that, thoroughly enjoyed experiencing a different type of movie you don't usually see in mainstream media. Main highlights: thought provoking, the scores, great acting from both leads but mainly Kaya seeing as it was her first project and lastly, the lake scene.

Black Widow
(2021)

Better than expected!
Never been a fan of black widow, always thought she was a bit of a joke since she doesn't actually have any super powers compared to the rest of the avengers so I was really surprised how good this was! Florence's performance was top notch, never imagined her in an action role (only previously seen her on midsommar) girl definitely has range! I hope there is a Black Widow 2 that centers around Florence's character (won't spoil the end) and what she does next. Definitely an asset to the marvel universe.

Spiral: From the Book of Saw
(2021)

SAVE YOUR MONEY
I never come on here to write a negative review only positive ones for really good movies but Jesus Christ. This. Was. The. Worst. The acting was TERRIBLE. How on earth did they get Samuel to sign onto this? As a kid I always thought Chris rock was a good actor but really all he's good at is yelling in comedies?? He was not believable in ANY of the scenes. I heard this went ahead cause he's a fan so he directed/produced (?) it. Solid proof money/status can really buy you anything because this was like watching something college students made for a project. The script was also AWFUL, no one talks like that. Everything about this, from script, acting, camera work was an absolute embarrassment to the SAW franchise. I wish I could give this 0 stars. Chris Rock, stay away from these movies, I don't believe in God but I am praying there's no number 2.

The Wilds
(2020)

Something different
The pre assumption that a all female cast caters to a female only audience is absurd and this show proves that. This is fresh and something different, the bad reviews must just be used to the same old crap from Netflix. After most of the iconic shows coming to an end last year, this show is exactly what we need. A lot of character study (some more interesting than others) but it is needed for context. Very interested to see where it'll go from here, the season finale just created more questions than answering any, but hey that's what keeps you wanting more! This show is very topical and relevant for many of its viewers and I only hope there will be more a lot more seasons to come because there is so much potential for some of the characters and if explored right, this show could be ground breaking for a lot of reasons.

The Wilds: Day Sixteen
(2020)
Episode 8, Season 1

Important episode
This episode is incredibly important. It was really hard to watch especially knowing that this is a lot of people's reality. The fact that this is Mia's first project is so insane to me. To tackle these kinds of scenes is a not easy, there is a ton of pressure to get a right. And get it right, she did! From the pacing, the insight to shelby's mind and her reaction to her best friends suicide. Thank you for the trigger warning and thank you for the representation and the validation that this episode gave for many of its viewers.

The Witcher
(2019)

Obsessed
Actually watched this before I even played the game. The show turned me into a massive fan and bought the game, now I'm absolutely obsessed. I've finished the game 3 times now and finished the series 5 times. The ones complaining they are confused maybe need to finish high school reading level, cause if you actually listen to the dialogue properly, it gives you insight into what timeline each scene is in. Please start production again, I'll re watch and re play as much as I have to but I NEED season two!

The Last of Us
(2013)

No other game will compare
An absolute masterpiece. I've replayed this game about 9 times now and every time I still cry at all the beautiful scenes and am captivated by the gameplay. Other than the witcher 3, this is by far the best thing that's ever happened to gaming. I get emotional even writing this.

The Last of Us: Part II
(2020)

Rated all 10's by critics for a reason
Do not believe all the negative reviews from all the ugly homophobic men - this game was rated 10/10 from all critics for a reason!!! They can't handle having a male lead killed off and having to play as a female and it really shows. Even when the game is absolutely beautiful. Yeah of course nobody wanted Joel to die, but that's what happens in a post apocalyptic world, not everyone survives. Just like the first, captivating storyline, beautiful writing and even more beautiful soundtrack! The attention to detail is impeccable, down to the rope physics! Jesus Christ. The only thing that is a bit upsetting is the fact there's no multiplayer, finishing the game and not being able to hang onto this world a little while longer is definitely a huge downside. Hoping they will add some sort of DLC, surely this can't it?! We waited 7 years. Plus when are we gonna get Ellie's (Ashley) original songs on Spotify? I'm tired of having to YouTube it 😩

Disconnect
(2012)

Super underrated.
Saw this movie when it first came out 8 years ago and it's still one of those movies I think about every now and then. The way it captures realistic scenarios and shines a raw light on topics that isn't usually covered in movies is absolutely stunning. It really makes you think. I don't get how this movie hasn't been talked about more. I fee like if this was released now (2020) it would win so many awards. Guess it's just one of those movies ahead of its time.

The I-Land
(2019)

Don't even have the energy
I don't even have the energy to list all the reasons why this one of the worst things ever made. Honestly. How on earth did this get past production? How was there not a point in pre production where someone was like "hold up guys. this is pure garbage" a lot of time and money go into productions such as these and I just absolutely can. not. believe NO ONE spoke up? "Perfection" brought my faith back in Netflix but that's gone now as quick as it came.

Anna
(2019)

Best assassin movie in a long time!
First things first. Let's just say, Sasha is absolutely gorgeous. Her face and body is the epitome of a model and added to the fact that she's really had no acting experience. She KILLED the action scenes. I was very surprised at how good all the action scenes were considering I'm sure we were all thinking how is a model built like a noodle supposed to fight and kill all these bad guys? I applaud Sasha for all the training he underwent for this. Now to the storyline. I was pleasantly surprised and how engaged I was in this. Action movies tend to be quite bland in between all the actions scenes but this had so many twists you really start to question everything that's happening. But the twists in this movie were so well done you genuinely are at the edge of your seat wondering who's really who and what's really what. It's hard for me to give a 10 so a 9 is quite high for me especially cause action movies aren't generally my kind of genre. Would definitely pay to see it again!

The Perfection
(2018)

FINALLY a good Netflix film
I take it the "this is a feminist" movie reviews are all written right wing men who can't enjoy a good film without ratting themselves out as a meninist. Now that that is out of the way - WHAT A MOVIE. As soon as I see "Netflix original" I just don't even bother because 9 times out of 10 they are absolutely awful. But the trailer + Allison had me curious and I'm so glad I gave it a shot. A little bit frustrating to begin with as it does start of slow but once it starts, like REALLY starts it was captivating and has you on the edge of your seat. Whether you're watching by yourself or with others you'll be audibly yelling "WHAT IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW" the twists were really different from what's been done before. The problem with movies these days is that so many twists have been done before so as a movie goer nothing really surprises or shocks me anymore but this had my heart rate up. When you think you know what's gonna happen, another major twist gets thrown at you and you slowly start to really understand the whole premise of this movie. Well done, Netflix. More like this please and less like the garbage you've been heavily pushing out.
