brilliant set pieces of singing and acting The critics did not love this film, saying that it plods along without energy.....but if you view the film as set pieces of wonderful music and acting, then Camelot is a joy. In fact, unlike most musicals, much of the singing was done before the cameras which gives the film an authentic and often breathtaking intimacy. The chemistry between Vanessa and Franco Nero is palpable, as they fell in love during the film production; and the tension among the three in the love triangle is equally poignant and heart-rending. Notice especially the subtle and powerful force in the number, "What Do Simple Folk Do?"....The film's power, I think, is in the close-up intimacy of the acting and the sensual non-professional singing voices of the actors--qualities one does not of course witness in the stage productions of this great story of King Arthur, Guenevere, Lancelot Du Lac, and the Roundtable.
