Joe Pickett

Big fan of the books
This tv show is not bad but the characters are not what I expected. I have read all the books and enjoyed them. I watch this show and the stars are very good but something is missing. Maybe if they followed the original storyline it would be better. I do know the background music is annoying, it's like everyone is whispering. Why is that?

I also feel that if they'd started with the first story/book they could make the characters a little more like the books.

Another thing that bothers me is that a review here requires a certain number of characters. Why? Some reviews only need a few words. That's why I don't usually read the reviews.

Six Black Horses
(1962)

Westerns
I have seen this movie more times than I can count. Why? Because it has Audie Murphy and Dan Duryea. I still enjoy a good western. This is not the best but definitely not the worst. However, I still wonder why the dog? All he did was sit on the pack horse trying to not fall off and occasionally whine a little. Was he really necessary?

Laramie: The Pass
(1959)
Episode 16, Season 1

Fake snow
Quite possibly one of the worst episodes of the series. Unbelievable special effects: Fake Ivory Flake snow, complete with the frothy bubbles. Wind blowing in the background but nothing moving. Indians running around half naked when it's supposed to be winter. Music was annoying. Almost as blah as the plot. Actors trying their best to be believable. Must have spent an entire day shooting this one.

Waco
(1966)

Waco, huh?
A who's who of bad B westerns. Watchable only to see who shows up. Plot is blah, writing is tongue in cheek and acting is bearable, almost. Watch the background characters for familiar faces.

Laramie
(1959)

Laramie/Robert Fuller
OK, from the very first episode I was I love with Robert Fuller and the series. I spent my youth (omg) watching every western ever made for TV. I find now that I still watch Laramie reruns on GRIT and STARZEncore . To my amazement I find the same people show up as "villains or have small roles" anywhere from one to five times a season. This I never noticed before, probably because I didn't care then. Other than Laramie I now watch John Wayne westerns. Oh well, there really isn't much on TV anymore anyway. My granddaughter got the IMDb icon for my iPad so I could look information for myself. It really is very helpful and I like it. She got tired of having to look up everything for me and I couldn't read her phone anyway.
