Septic
(2022)

Another Grade A Brian Paulin Gorefest
I was very curious about Septic, it has been shown at mutliple festivals including my country the Netherlands. I myself couldn't be there but luckily i was able to buy the german version, i promissed Mr Paulin who i contacted a few times on facebook to write a review. So here it is... As usual his movies are full and i do mean full with squirting bloodshed and over the top gory carnage, Septic does deliver on all these points. English isn't my native language so i tried to listen as good as possible to what the f was going on, we got this woman and her husband who need money for the delivery of their baby. They contact Mr Paulin himself who helps them out IF they allow him to film the whole alternate treatment, well... the whole thing turns into a living hell full of snuff and other gruesome situations, just have a look at it yourself. I'm always honest when i write reviews, i thought they did a good job making the movie. If you enjoy watching masses of gore you won't be dissapointed, the only thig and i do mean the absolute only thing that bothered me were the extremely loud screeching noise effects which you hear during a few black and white scenes. Scared the hell out of me and my guinea pig lol, anyway i really advise the true gorehounds to buy this movie. I'm curious about what Mr Paulin will have for us in store in the future.

G.B.H.

Not for the squeemish... My @ss
Based on the the front cover, which shows a blood covered man holding an axe. And the tag line "Not for the squeemish" i expected some of the good old ultra violence, honestly i feel ripped off. What you get is a boring wannabe gangster movie which takes place in a discoteque most of the time with awful scenes of people dancing which irritated the hell out of me, and this Steve who used to be a tough guy now stars as a bouncer at the club. Some guys threaten to take over the club and there are a few fist fights, nothing really explicit, there is a little bit of bloodshed near the end which are the best parts if you ask me. Someone gets stabbed in the hand, with a little bit of bloodspray in the camera. And we get a shootout during the finale, which is the best part of this 70 minute borefest. And the axe scene which you see on the front of the vhs sleeve... they only took that photo to make the movie look graphic, in the end it all sucks. There are far more better and superior gangster movies like Rise of The Footsoldier for example.

Evil Dead Rise
(2023)

Just as beautiful as horror can be
We just went to see Evil Dead Rise in the cinema, technically the fourth instalation of everybodies favorite Horror series if you don't count the remake. Without one well known beloved groovy character, but that doesn't ruin the fun. The actors did a good job, especially the mom. I enjoyed everything about this movie. I'm aware that this movie has a few haters in the horror community but i don't care about that, i personally enjoyed the hell out of it. I gave it an 8, glorious glorious madness. That's all i have to say about this masterpiece, i recommend every true horror gorehound to see it. Go see it if you dare.

Bloody hell
The Sadness is a great movie for those who enjoy extreme violence, gore and madness. I love it, we absolutely need more of these. You could compare it to gems such as 28 Weeks Later and Ebola Syndrome, only it's much gorier and over the top. Just watch it.

Knucklebones
(2016)

The proof that guts n gore can't turn every indie flick into a succes.
I just enjoyed the gore and the demonic killer, who has an awesome appearance by the way. But that's it, i didn't care for the bimbo's or their boyfriends. Non of them couldn't act that well, just let them get killed off, the editing was good enough but it could have been better with a bit more tension and more effects. No one will ever say... omg this movie scared the p*ss out of me, just saying. It's just not that special.

American Guinea Pig: Bloodshock
(2015)

Torture in Black & White
I was very curious Bloodshock, simply said it's about a man who's locked up in a white room. And every few minutes he gets tortured in all kinds of creative ways, the first half hour was decent but nothing too shocking unless you've never seen the harder stuff. It starts to get interesting after 40 minutes, i thought that for most of the time it was just pure torture for the sake of torture and nothing else, but oke there's a little subplot about another prisoner of which i won't spoil anything. In my opinion the movie was just oke because i expected it to be just as extreme and nauseating as Stephen Biro's Bouquet of Guts and Gore , it never reaches the same level of gore. But Bloodshock does deliver at some moments, especialy near the end. My final point of criticism is that i personally would've rather seen the movie in color, but to each his own. If you like blood and gore just add it to your collection.

Mandy
(2018)

One of the most trippy movies you'll ever see
Without giving anything about the plot itself, Mandy is an incredibly psychadelic revenge movie filled with trippy colors, combined with a soundtrack that will make you think that you're experiencing drugs for the first time. I will just say, go watch Mandy and experience it. Go with the flow.

Doom: Annihilation
(2019)

Crappety crap
Do you consider yourself to be a hardcore Doom fanatic, stay away from this abomination. It's extremely weak considered with the first movie, even the first one wasn't all that. But this one is just a borefest. I don't have a problem with the female lead actress but for a movie like this you just need a male cast of guys who look like a bunch of hulks, you expect a massive gorefest, nope. Forget about it, just do yourself a favor and forget it was even made. It sucks.

Pet Sematary
(2019)

Sometimes it's better to leave the originals alone
I just watched this remake, there were a few good changes in the plot that surprised me. But i miss the sense of dread and the character development like they did in the original, i missed a few nasty flashbacks which gave you an insight in several characters. They just rushed (in my opinion) to get to the good stuff, they did an good attempt to make something of the finale though. And the cover from the original song by The Ramones wasn't that awful either, i'm just glad that i got to watch it on Netflix instead of buying it.

Shôjo jigoku ichi kyû kyû kyû
(1999)

Mean spirited nastyness
Girl Hell is absolutely one of those movies that might leave you disturbed and depressed, it tells the story of a girl who's life is a living hell. She lives with her scumbag of a father who rapes her sister which is severely disfigured because of an accident, and spends the whole movie covered in bandages. She occasionally tries to be a good samaritan by giving food to an homeless woman who breastfeeds a doll, and then we have two teenage boys who spend their time talking about raping girls. Out of boredom they attack two women and rape them, the second rape will finally lead to a tragedy which causes this nightmare to explode. Long story short the leading actresses life only becomes worse and worse by the minute, some people might think it's a splatter movie which it isn't. It's... just pure hateful misogynistic nastyness.

I read that a couple of people here on imdb had some problems understanding what the movie was actualy about, it's not that hard to find english subtitles online. Some people think that the homeless woman was the lead girls mother, i assure you she's not. The woman covered in bandages is the lead girls sister, which has some hateful feelings towards her own sister for not being targeted by their rapist father. Just try to look for the right subs.

The Strange Thing About the Johnsons
(2011)

Talking about daddy issues
I'm not the kind of person to get easily disturbed by watching movies or shorts with the "disturbing" label on it, and this is one of those rare films that actualy managed to freak me out. I won't spoil anything but you've never seen any disfunctional family themed films like this one, it's very original. It's also quite horrifying to actualy think that something like what you witness in this short could happen in real life, if you like well made original short films which leave you gasping in terror have a look at "The Strange Thing About the Johnsons.

Deep Web XXX
(2018)

A bit of a let down
I heard good things and a few bad things about Deep Web XXX, in the end you're the one who has to judge. I was looking forward to it since i knew it's labeled as an extreme movie, i'm being as honest as possible here. I was glad when it was over since i was starting to get bored, they should've turned it into a 65 minute movie (if you can call it a movie) instead of 75 minutes. I started watching it with an open mind but it felt pretencious from the start, a man opens his labtop and surfs to the deep web only to watch a few experimental shorts which are most of the time full of perversion and a little bit of gore. There are a few of them which seem interesting but in the end they felt like Meeeehhhh, i couldn't care for it. I tried to like some of it but nope, the part in the gay dungeon seemed it was going to be a shock but it didn't, non of them did. So that was a waste of time, i do admit that i liked some of the gory special effects but that was it. It felt like they tried to hard to make something shocking but... like i said i didn't care for it, be my guest if you want to judge it for yourself.

Zombies from Sector 9
(2020)

Made by and for the fans
Zombies from Sector 9 is the first feature production from the Belgian director Rob Ceus, who made the movie together with Inge Vanleene. The movie itself is an independent production which was made with a lot of love for the genre, as you might notice by the obvious references. For example the living room of the lead character Bookwalker (who's name is a tribute to indie director J.R. Bookwalter) is covered with posters from B classics such as Basket Case. Long story short, ZFS9 is a fun zombie flick filled with guts & gore. Rubber aliens, delightfully cheesy fx, cameo's from Rob's fellow indie film makers and an awesome retro soundtrack. A absolute recommendation to the true fans of independent gorefests.

Headless
(2015)

Delightful gory nastyness
The gory tale of an insane psychopath who was turned into a monster because of his horrible childhood, he goes around slaughtering women (sometimes men if they're in his way). It's just an absolute gorefest combined with other shocking acts of depravity, well it's very over the top but i enjoyed it. They also give you a glimpse into the maniac's psyche as well (which i won't spoil), there's a short plot of the supposed protagonist and her stoner boyfriend to fill the movie up but in the end we just want to see the killer mauling and slaughtering girls. Enough of me glorifying the gore, it's technically well made. The actors do their best but in the end it's just B acting, i think that Shane Beasly's the one who keeps everything interesting with his mad overacting. Are you a gore fan, just buy it once you find it anywhere. I asure you that it's anything but average.

Binge & Purge
(2002)

Brian Clement strikes again
It's a fun and over the top gory trash flick with a lot of cannibalistic murders and shoot outs, yes the acting is atrocious but would you watch a movie like this for the acting. Nope you watch it for the GORE, the delicious gut munching vomiting gore. I did enjoy Brian Clement's Meat Market which was a fun tribute to the works of Romero, i hope this man will get a bigger budget to realize an even bigger gorefest hihi. Just enjoy Brians work for what it is, gory trash. And i meant that as a compliment.

Creep
(2014)

A real nail biter
Creep is the absolute proof that it's possible to make an extremely intense thriller with a micro budget and a minimum cast of 2 guys, without any special effects and just a a freaky wolf mask. If you're looking for a movie that will chill you to the bone, don't look any further.

Bright
(2017)

Uber cool
I'm not an orcs and elves nerd, and i'm absolutely not a Will Smith fan (except for The Fresh Prince of Bell Air) since i think the man has an attitude. But Bright is the Sh**, a great action movie that combines over the top action and fantasy. A big fat thumbs up.

Aterrados
(2017)

Horrifying
THIS... is how you make a horror film, it's full of truly genuine creepy moments which i won't explain since you have to see it for yourself. There aren't that many haunted house movies which i consider to be this nail biting, but Demián Rugna managed to do so. An absolute recommendation if you're a fan of the better haunted house frighteners.

Zanna Bianca
(1973)

Not quite a family movie
I watched this movie since i figured out it was directed by one of my favorite directors, Lucio Fulci. And i know there are people who call this a family or kids flick, i can assure you that it's non of the above. It's filled with mean spirited characters and actual animal cruelty, they could've easily rated it R because of the visceous animal fights. An dog obvisousily appears to be "dead" after it fought a bear, i just say what i saw myself. And a dog gets poked at with sticks while it's locked up in a cage, yeah real family entertainment. The story itself looks like an adventure movie because of the relation between an american native child and his dog, but i'm pretty sure the dog had to be replaced a few times if you know what i mean. The story is placed in a western like background, probably in the 1800's, and yes the actors do a great job and some of them are likable. And if they kept it like that the movie could have receive a PG rating which it did get, how idiotic do you have to be to rate a movie filled with cruelty PG. I do understand those were different times, but still, judge for yourself.

Game Over, Man!
(2018)

Hilarious
It's a very very funny movie with the main cast from Workaholics and a few cameo's from other comedians and Steve O and Chris Pontius (from Jackass), it's an action comedy with a lot of childish d**k and poop jokes. Expect a lot of male nudity, gay jokes and everything incorrect, i really needed a good laugh and this movie did the job. Thank you.

Hot Potato
(1976)

Not the kind of movie if your in the mood for a good action flick
I expected this to be a good action movie since it has Jim Kelly in it, it's more of a comedy with a few fights that would even make the fans of Bud Spencer say like... is this a fight. It's just people clowning around, there's no tension. Nothing, it bothered me for the most of the time that Jim Kelly just walks around. And when it's his turn it never gets spectaculair, even the enemies don't put up a decent fight. I say it like it is, it's a kids movie. I admit there were a few funny scenes but that's it. Go watch Black Belt Jones instead.

The Dark Lurking
(2009)

Live action Doom aussie style with a touch of Event Horizon
Mercenaries get locked up in an space station together with a few laborants and their lab rats during an outbreak of a virus which turned the majority of the ship into nasty lookin mutants. What follows without spoiling anything is an delightful gory shooting gallery, just expect a nice 90 minutes of brainless fun. Like i mentioned above this movie could best be discribed as an live action version of Doom with a little bit of Event Horizon, and they did a good job on it too. But just take it for what it is, a gorefest. With a lot of bullets blood and slime. Don't expect anything oscar worthy since it's complete B Trash (which is a good thing in my book), take your chips and a coke and have fun.

Play Dead
(1983)

Not quite what you would expect from a killer dog movie
Play Dead aka Killer Dog is a pretty mild horror film about an mean spirited elderly woman (Yvonne De Carlo), who uses her rothweiler Greta (one of the nicest dogs you have ever seen) to get rid of a few people who are in her way. And not in the kind of way you would expect from a dog which is supposed to be ferocious, De Carlo uses cuty pie Greta and her black magic to kill her victims off in quite creative ways, how to discribe this movie... Greta the killer dog convinces the audience to be one of the most lovable dogs ever, and the added growling effects are quite laughable. They tried to add some intensity to use slow motion each time Greta comes in action, which failed in my opinion. The death scenes them selves are a bit foreboding, you know what's about to happen before the deaths itself. A bit of gore would've been nice (since there isn't any), to make a long story short. I would only reccommand this "killer"dog flick if you're into unknown works of obscurity.

La mansión de los Cthulhu
(1992)

Not terrible, but just enjoy it for what it is. An 80's cheesefest
First of all don't rent or buy this movie if you expect something that's based on the works of Lovecraft, the only thing it borrowed from Lovecraft is the fact that they used the name Cthulhu a few times on a few old scrolls and that's all. They don't even mention it through out, i'm not trying to rip on this movie since it's just an slightly enjoyable cheesefest. And i didn't hate it, in other words they only used the name Cthulhu to cash in on the works of Lovecraft which is low if you ask me. Cthulhu's Mansion is all about a gang of unlikable criminal youths who unleash an evil force inside the house of an elderly magician and his daughter and assistent which they took hostage because of an failed drug deal, and like you would expect some of the character dissapear due to all kind of eerie unexplained entities. Like a girl who gets grabbed by an unseen creature which hides in an refrigurator, if you enjoy 80's cheese this one's for you.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark
(2019)

Beware of the Jingly Man
I Just watched Scary Stories to watch in the Dark, and i figured out that i bought a PG13 flick. I thought it was rated R but nope, i inmediately thought... S**T, i must say that it's well made and it made me cringe ala The Conjuring a few times. So PG or not if a horror film succeeds to freak me out it's a good one in my opinion, there's no graphic bloodshed or gore. But it will definitely give you the heebie jeebies.
