Lost me in Season 2
Episode 5 of season 2 -

SPOILERS: The only suspect and only lead both teams have on this colossal series of international crimes is taken to the building housing the most powerful and secure division in the Belgium police department--Counter Terrorism Unit--and put in a locked room. Mila the Mole just wanders in to threaten him, while she also has the authority to turn the security cameras off and on at her convenience. All of this although she is from an entirely different division and would obviously have no credentials to even enter such a highly secured area.

It was at this point that the series totally jumped the shark with no chance of recovery. Fortunately, it was near the end and the were no further episodes after the end of the 2nd season.

Up to this point, the series had some sizeable faults, but was definitely watchable. As others have stated, the plot was kind of a tangled convoluted mess, and it was abundantly clear from the start that the bottom line bad guy was the rich American businessman, but it was watchable nonetheless.

Candice Renoir
(2013)

Embarrassingly bad
I do not agree at all that Candice Renoir is cute, funny and quirky. She is selfish, self-centered, irresponsible, silly. She laughs inappropriately (there's a name for that particular mental illness), she is a terrible mother and an even worse lover and wife. She doesn't deserve any of the 3 men she has been with, and I still haven't figured out why she married Max other than to humiliate, ignore and denigrate him. She spent hardly a minute privately with him after they got married, and I'm sure it is only a matter of time and episodes until she selfishly dumps him.

In the meantime, she is constantly mooning after Antoine and interfering in his life to make him as unhappy as possible, even though she is married to Max. I'm sure they will eventually end up together because that is where it seems to be heading, which for the life of me, I can't imagine what a handsome young man would see in this irritating, over-weight and past middle-age woman.

She is constantly seeking attention and needs to be the center of attention at all times. Did I say she is silly? She is dishonest and lies constantly to her team, her superiors and her family. She apparently has no idea what a warrant is because I'm not sure I've heard her or any member of her team mention the word. She goes anywhere she wants and does anything she wants. She has no boundaries, personally or professionally, even as a high-ranking police officer. Once, at a murder victim's home, she helped herself to some food, and in more than one instance, she got into the nice vehicles of victims or suspects, and once, even went for a spin in a car because she liked it. If you are a suspect, and she takes a dislike to you, you are in for a very hard time even if you are innocent. It is totally unbelievable that she is in charge of a team or that the Paris force would be interested in re-hiring her.

I continue to watch the show because I like Antoine and the members of her team and the men with whom she has been involved. Her family is entertaining too. I could, however, do without Candice. I would rate the series -0- stars if I could....

Before We Die
(2021)

Abandoned in the 2nd series
The acting was good. All of the actors, especially Lesley Sharp were fine. The first series wasn't perfect, but it was enjoyable. I was happy to see that there was a second series. The problem though is the script for the second series, which gave the police officers absolutely no credit for knowing their jobs. One stupid decision after another....although the police weren't the only ones capable of making stupid decision.

When the couple were on the run, they made no attempt to disguise themselves. How about a dye job or a haircut to avoid immediate recognition? And when Christian heard the Croatians talking in the market, why did he allow Bianca to just blow them off? How common could 2 Croatian meatheads dressed inappropriately be in their tropical paradise?

The stupidest and most predictable scenes were those leading up to Christian's death. Why did Billy and Hannah wait until the plane had landed before they even got in their car to go to the airport? Why did Christian believe that Billy would send some total stranger to pick him up simply because she had a badge? And how did her employers know about the necklace and why didn't Christian realize it wasn't the exact one? And why were Billy and Hannah so careless that it didn't even occur to them that they might be followed? Did they think that the Croatians would send one English woman to try to kidnap or kill Christian? Why didn't they know there would be Croatians in pursuit too?

I've never before abandoned a series after being so deep in--series one and four episodes into series two. After Christian was killed, I turned off my TV, and will not watch the rest of the series. It's pointless without the entire point of the show. Bianca and an unborn baby just don't matter that much, and after reading some spoilers here, I know I'm not missing anything except more stupidity and unfathomability.

Profilage
(2009)

Good series with one fault......
I have enjoyed the stories and the cast with the exception of Chloé who is a duplicitous foolish woman, and also mentally ill. It's unfathomable to me that anyone would even consider allowing her to foster or adopt a child. I am not far enough along in the series to know if this comes to pass, but in any attempt at attaining realism, it surely won't happen.

She is silly, her clothes are silly, her walk is silly, her facial expressions are silly, her shoes and big yellow bag are silly. I've watched Candice Renoir, and wasn't sure until I looked it up which came first--the crazy infallible policewoman with the wild hair and the ridiculous purse, but I guess Chloé predates Candice. And, they also shared a boyfriend?

All of the other cast members are good, and I especially liked Philippe Bas as Rocher. But for these characters, and the knowledge that Chloé will eventually leave the series, I would quit watching.

I would only recommend this series to those who like their police procedurals without a scant hint of realism.

And, I'm also wondering what happened to the first three season of this series and why they aren't available in the US.

ADDED: I'm now at the end of season 2 (which is really season 5), and when I think Chloé cannot get any worse, she surprises me and is more irresponsible, foolish and childish than ever. They did let her take the little girl in which is tragic since she can't manage or control her life. Why is she still here..........?

ALSO ADDED: I am watching season 10, the final season, which is sometimes referred to as season 8, and after having some good episodes after Chloé, the show has well and truly jumped the shark. None of the cast can save even a moment of it. Rocher is once again suspended and allowed by his boss to continue to operate as a detective, except totally and completely outside the law. And, unbelievably, they have allowed a woman who was brought in as a suspect to join the team, interrogating other suspects, participating in team discussions, handling evidence, surveilling and following suspects. I still haven't figured out who she is or where she came from, and they apparently don't care.

The Gulf
(2019)

Excellent series
I read all the negative reviews while I was still watching the series, and after seeing the end of Season 2, I quite frankly do not understand them.

Granted, Season 2 is better than the first season. The lead detective is abrupt and to the point, but she isn't as mean as she was in Season 1. She had been through a lot of loss when Season 1 began.

But, the storyline from the beginning to the end of Season 2 is carefully and intricately woven, and I appreciate this. The final episode didn't abruptly end with little or no explanation, it was complex, relating back to so many other stories in the series.

Even though she finally helped her mother, I still think the daughter Ruby is a spoiled self-centered awful person.

I surely hope there is a third season. It's a good show and the cliffhanger needs resolution.

True Lies
(2023)

Awful, just awful....
Like others here, I was really looking forward to this show. I love spy shows and really liked the movies True Lies and Mr. And Mrs. Smith. Burn Notice was one of my all-time favorite series.

This one is flat out poor. No one on the show can act with the exception of Steve

Howey and Omar Benson Miller, whom I have always enjoyed. All the others are lifeless and forgettable. The premise is ridiculous. I cannot believe James Cameron has associated himself with this disaster.

The multi-lingual college professor is a world class fighter because of her yoga class and is a better and smarter spy than her husband who has been at it for decades. She makes him look like an inept idiot, and she is nothing but a shrew.

What's with the chit-chat between them when they are in imminent disaster? I couldn't get to the end of the first episode and won't be watching. Probably most folks with an active brain cell won't watch either.

The Blacklist: Konets
(2021)
Episode 22, Season 8

At last! At long last! And on to Season 9.....
A decent finale and a decent end to Elizabeth Keen. But, my overwhelming feeling is of relief that her whiney, lying, dishonest, disrespectful, deceitful and cheating character is off this show so that I can hope that season 9 will be back to what the series was before her character deteriorated.

I do resent that after 5+ seasons of staying ahead of every criminal on the planet, Red continues to be outwitted by Townsend and his henchmen at every turn. How did he not know that Townsend's number one was in the country and still literally gunning for Liz? After so many attempts on her life, how was he allowed to calmly walk up and shoot her in the back, knowing full well that if he continued to stand there exposed, Red or Dembe would shoot him, as well? Where is our smart, resourceful and on top of it Reddington?

And, of course, Liz's former FBI colleagues all rush up to witness the finale, and now they can completely deify her and blame Red, although they all knew that his plan was for her to kill him instead. I hope they are all sufficiently over this before season 9 starts!

Was it Liz's plan to leave Agnes with Mrs. French if she were killed? Or was she so blinded by her need to have revenge on Red that she never thought this far ahead? That is a sad circumstance.

I've read several interviews with the showrunner, who has also left the series now, and he seems to say that the show has been carefully planned all along, but when I consider the theory that Katrina becomes Raymond, I have to wonder why they didn't choose an actress to play Katrina who could possibly bear some resemblance to Raymond as a man. The woman they chose bears no resemblance and under no stretch of the imagination could she have been turned into Raymond. If there was a plan in place earlier in the show, this could certainly have been managed better, and it leads me to believe that the theory is nuts and is nothing but wishful thinking by some fans--the ending montage entirely aside.

What happened to the letter? Does Dembe still have it? I guess at some point, they'll have to give it to Agnes....

The Blacklist: The Protean (No. 36)
(2021)
Episode 18, Season 8

Kean is just the worst. Please kill her.
Why are Reddington and the entire FBI team continuing to protect and care for Elizabeth Keane? She is a horrible selfish person, now having gotten almost everyone around her killed, including her poor sister and her team of criminals. She has left behind a trail of dead innocents, remembering Anne. She has betrayed her FBI team at every turn. It is clear that she would shoot any one of them to continue her pursuit of "her truth." She has led on Aram and Kessler, and Cooper, who probably all have fantasies about having sex with her. They have devolved into FBI agents no smarter or more ethical than she was.

She is now giving lip service to somewhat taking responsibility for all the evil and havoc she has created, but her buddies at the FBI continue to assure her it wasn't her fault. Everyone wants to blame everything on Reddington or on themselves because poor evil Liz doesn't have the answers she wants.

She got herself into this mess, which has seriously endangered Agnes, who has no other parent besides her. She is the one who hooked up with Townsend and placed herself and her child in his crosshairs. She could have taken all the millions she stole from Reddington and disappeared with Agnes. No one was looking for her until she decided to continue her quest for revenge against Reddington and became intertwined with all these criminals.

If what I have read is true that Megan Boone thought she was entitled to the same pay per episode as James Spader, this is seriously laughable. He is one of the best actors on the planet and has played some remarkable roles over his lengthy career, and she is a newby who cannot act her way out of a paper bag. The episodes without her have been like a breath of fresh air.

I hope Liz meets the same fate as her mother and her team--and sooner rather than later.

The ancillary characters on this series continue to be amazing. I love Glen's mother and hope she becomes a regular.

The Blacklist: Roanoke (No. 139)
(2020)
Episode 1, Season 8

Please.....can Liz and Katrina just die?......
I didn't think I could despise Liz any more, but after this episode, all bets are off. She is the worst character ever on TV and the sorriest FBI agent imaginable. And Katrina, whoever she is, is a mirror image. They are both self-centered, selfish and self-involved and are only concerned about their own feelings and wants. They will sacrifice anyone who comes between them and their "answers" and "truth." Their lives are obviously more important than anyone else on the planet. And this "mother" thing between the two of them has been totally worn out.

Dom has been out of the game, retired and living in the US for decades. What would he possibly be able to contribute about the Archive's present location?

I can't believe Cooper is still defending Liz after this latest deception. And, poor Ressler, she brings up a crime he committed as a teenager, kisses him seductively and pulls a gun on him. And he is still crazy about her and willing to risk his life and career for her. Both of these characters have been dumbed down and turned into criminals themselves, all for the sake of Liz.

Hopefully, the writers will save this show and not follow on down this path. With Reddington and Dembe, there is so much potential. They are great characters, and even some of the FBI team can probably be salvaged.

The Blacklist: Katarina Rostova (No. 3)
(2019)
Episode 10, Season 7

I would stop watching but for James Spader
I understand the opening scene was meant to be dramatic, but I roared with laughter when Elizabeth gets thrown across the room. So deserving--so sorry she wasn't hurt worse.

She is incredibly dumb for someone who is supposed to be a talented profiler and is the most dishonest, hypocritical and evil FBI agent ever. And her loyal friends on her team stand up for her although she lies, cheats and steals. She stole a file to hunt down a dangerous criminal herself. She stupidly lets the woman take her down and take her prisoner. She turns on Red and Dom based on the word of a woman who has never told her anything except lies and who endangered Agnes--because she is her "mother" who "loves Masha."

Katrina "wants answers" and Liz wants "the truth." What a couple of bimbos.

No matter what villain or dangerous situation her FBI team faces, Liz's only response is whether it will help her get closer to her truth. She doesn't care who she has to deceive, threaten or endanger.

And how stupid and inattentive were the two FBI agents watching outside. They allow themselves to be murdered over some bureaucratic dispute. Absolutely useless, as it turns out.

Cooper is turning into a fool too. How many times can Liz lie to him and trick him. Even when she knows she owes him an apology, he won't accept it and defends her horrible behavior.

I won't even address the failings of the new agent.

Now the writers are trying to dumb down Dembe and Red, making them as clueless and behind the 8-ball as Liz and her FBI team. I love both of these characters.

Awful, awful show, but I'm binging it and trying to hang on to the end, which is near. Only hoping that the writers kill off Liz. It's the only hope for the show.

The Blacklist: Hannah Hayes (No. 125)
(2019)
Episode 7, Season 7

Terrible, just terrible
I've taken to fast forwarding through parts of episodes, and this one, I fastforwarded through all of the main plot. What a stupid, nonsensical pointless and impossible episode. Agent Kean wasn't even the worst of it, and she is usually so fastforwardable. And Agent Park, what a loser. Where did she come from and why did Keane decide she was the one who should join the team? Very typical of Keane's judgment though.

I won't even go into how implausible it is that both Reddington and Keane have missed the fact that the babysitter is dangerous and the woman for whom they have both been looking.

Thank goodness for James Spader. I never ff on his scenes.

The Blacklist: Bastien Moreau (No. 20): Conclusion
(2019)
Episode 12, Season 6

I'd give up but.....
I keep hoping Liz will die so the show will go back to what it was the first 3 or maybe 4 seasons. Her whining and crying and pretending to care about Reddington's execution when she only wants to keep him alive so she can continue to spy on him and question him. And, of course, she's the only reason he's in this death row situation anyway, which makes her probably the biggest hypocrite on TV in the guise of a "nice" person.

And Dembe. How can you comfort and care for her when she is the one who is put your good friend Reddington in this terrible situation? I am SO disappointed in his character. He is lying to Reddington and is disloyal in the end. As much as I love him, I am so disappointed that he has such a huge character flaw.

So I keep watching with the hope that she will meet her demise and I can love the series again.

The Blacklist: Minister D (No. 99)
(2019)
Episode 9, Season 6

Worst FBI agent ever--and possibly worst human being
Liz continues to drag her fellow agents into her evil and deception, and they allow it. She is ruining Ressler's life, career and reputation, and he's going along with it. Now she's got Dembe lying for her too, which is even more disappointing. She is weak (a cry baby), immoral, selfish, spoiled and evil. She continues to get people killed with her insistence on knowing things that are none of her business. Every time she gets into a fight, I hope she gets killed. In the past 2 episodes, she has cried when interviewing a defendant......who does that?

And, BTW, where is her baby? She was supposed to rejoin her when she knew who killed Tom. That is resolved, and she perseveres on with her attacks on Reddington while her daughter grows up without either parent.

She is seriously ruining this series. It's becoming harder and harder for James Spader's character and excellent acting to make up up for the deficiencies of Liz's character.

The Blacklist: Sutton Ross (No. 17)
(2018)
Episode 22, Season 5

Can we rid ourselves of Elizabeth Keane?
I'm binge watching from the beginning up to date, and just watched this episode, the S5 finale. Liz is the worst in every regard. The writing, dialog, acting, music, casting and characters are exceptional except for her. She is weak and foolish, can't make a good decision to save herself. She uses and abuses those around her under the pretense of being such a darling, and I can't for the life of me understand why her bosses and co-workers have any feelings for her except hatred and disdain. All of them risk their lives and careers for her over and over. She lies to people and gets them killed just so that she can have her way. Like a child stomping her foot. Raymond is amazing. James Spader could not be better.

Killing Eve
(2018)

Terrible!
Anyone who rated this highly must have never watched any of the excellent shows and films with the same premise--a highly trained female assassin with no conscience working for a highly secret agency. There are at least a dozen that are far better. I'm on Ep 5 of S1 and am hoping that someone will kill Eve. Please!

S*P*O*I*L*E*R*S Jodie Comer is great, but that's about it. Sandra Oh's character is a wannabe spy who is allowed to pursue dangerous missions all over Europe and this particularly lethal assassin when she has no field training as an agent or a spy, and apparently no one else who has worked with her in either agency does either. Because of her supposed brilliance, she might have been allowed to research behind a desk, but this.... In every episode so far too, she has committed multiple offenses that should have gotten her fired, not to mention that her incompetence and arrogance have gotten people all around her horribly murdered. There's no reason, and certainly no logical one, that Fiona would have such confidence in her.

In episode 4, the series totally jumped the shark, and continues into 5. How did cowardly, inept Frank escape 3 trained assassins? But, then, Villanelle shot at him repeatedly when he was running away, and she shot at the occupants of the car, and at the car, and didn't hit once. How could she be such a poor shot? And then Eve, won't drive away because she wants to "talk" to Villanelle. What kind of moronic plan is that? And, once again, she endangers the lives of two of her co-workers with her incompetence and arrogance. And, when they all get back to the safe house, neither of her co-workers tell Fiona that this happened although they were both terrified by Eve's behavior.

Then Eve stupidly goes back to her house, knowing that this dangerous assassin is lose in her hometown and knows where she lives. No thought of her husband's safety either.... And, there was so much more....

BTW, there was no humor, dark or otherwise, after the first episode.....

I'm going to finish season 1, but don't plan to watch any further, except I may skip to the last episode of season 4 to see how this train wreck finally ends.

Prime Suspect 5: Errors of Judgement
(1996)

Disappointing episode for the series
I've watched them all in order and have been so impressed with the amazing Helen Mirren, and this excellent series, but this one totally fell apart at the end.

When Jane was getting the confession, and she expected that she would, she totally overlooked that The Street's next predictable move would be to kidnap and punish Janice. EVERYONE knew this. So she barges on ahead and is totally surprised when Michael points out that Janice is in danger. Then she calls out the cavalry to rush to Janice's house where, of course, Janice has been kidnapped.

Then Jane conveniently gets a little kid to show her a building where The Street might have taken Janice, rushing off in her car by herself with the kid, although her entire force was with her at Janice's house. She doesn't think to take any of them with her as backup or to call to tell them what she is doing. Jane would have never done anything like this in a previous episode. This, and what ensues, is directly out of a US-produced detective procedural. She enters the building all alone, finds Janice, again predictably, turning her back so that The Street can walk up behind her with a gun. Then more minutes are spent in pointless discussion with The Street and Martin until the gun squad shows up and shoots The Street full of holes. I am so disappointed in this one.....

A Bone to Pick: An Aurora Teagarden Mystery
(2015)

dumb, silly, vapid
**SPOILERS** Why oh why do I punish myself by watching these Aurora Teagarden shows? I guess it's because Hallmark Movie Channel seems to run them around the clock and around the calendar. And the supporting cast is good, which probably somewhat brings me back too.

Candace Cameron Bure's character is insufferable. It's the way it is written. She should be in jail. I lost count of the serious crimes she committed in this one. In real life, all is not well that end's well, and she would still end up in prison regardless of whether she solves a crime.

The husband and wife police-people who live across the street couldn't be more clueless. The wife who is a detective is constantly threatening Aurora because of her constant interfering and law- breaking, but never follows through.

One of these days, I want to see sweet cute criminal Aurora/Roe trying to solve a crime from behind bars where she is incarcerated for 2-5 years.

A Bundle of Trouble: An Aurora Teagarden Mystery
(2017)

The worst of the series
***SPOILERS*** Aurora Teagarden isn't my favorite TV detective, but her movies are usually watchable. This one is by far the worst. The story did start as an intriguing mystery, however, it totally unwraps as it moves a long. Aurora and Martin seriously obstruct justice when they hide a witness who was on the premises where a murder and a supposed kidnapping were committed and when he appears to be the most probable suspect. Then they let him escape, and then they capture him again. Law enforcement doesn't seem to mind, although Arthur does slap his forehead and Lynn frowns at one point early on.

Aurora and Sally continue to interfere when they interview a midwife, who is also possibly complicit in the murder, tipping her off to the investigation. Totally annoying.

Nearing the end, a shooter is shooting at Martin, Aurora and the witness in the house and wounds both Martin and the witness. We, nor Aurora, have any idea how badly they are hurt, although the witness is unconscious and Martin, who was clearly shot in the chest, says he's going into shock. Seems kinda serious. Conveniently, Martin has previously said his phone is dead--and all at once Aurora remembers she left hers in the car. Unknown whether the witness has a phone... So no one can call 911. The shooter comes into the house, acting innocent, although Aurora and Martin both recognize him. For some unknown reason, he doesn't shoot anyone again but wanders across the street to "get his first aid kit" and conveniently disappears for a good while. Why did he shoot at them in the first place if he had no interest in killing them?

Unarmed Aurora then leaves the house over Martin's objection to follow the shooter and, instead of getting her phone or asking another neighbor to call an ambulance and the police, crosses the street and finds Martin's niece who has been kidnapped in the neighbor/shooter's basement. She could get into the basement, but she and the niece had a time getting out.... During all this mess, the neighbor's wife kidnaps the baby from the house (how did she get in anyway?), and Aurora hears her on the baby monitor, which must have a HUGE range, since Aurora was across the street at the time. How convenient to have a baby monitor in her pocket but no cell phone...

Apparently, the niece, who was the baby's mother, was kidnapped until she would reveal where she had hidden the baby. Early on, the kidnapper's wife found out that Aurora and Martin had the baby, so why were they keeping the mother alive? They were planning to take the baby way on a car trip, but surely they knew she would tell the police before they could get very far. They had no problem killing the baby's father but, of course, not Martin's niece. Made no sense.

Other reviewers have mentioned Aurora's treatment of the newborn baby. She cavalierly passed him around from person to person, and at the end of the show told Martin she has decided she wants to have his babies although they aren't engaged and she has indicated only relief that he hasn't proposed to her. Also, it turns out, the niece made a wonderful mother even though she had said she and her husband weren't ready for children and they had tried to sell their baby?? Isn't that a crime?

Yannick Bisson and Lexa Doig are wonderful actors. I just wish they had a better vehicle.
