Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood
(2019)

Still a good movie, but also shows Tarantino is losing his ways.
A good story, and generally entertaining movie, but,

1. My biggest complaint, is that the colors are awful, people's skin look like they are made of mud. I thought Tarantino likes 35mm.

2. Uneven pace, and long and boring at times.

3. His signature violence seem out of place and unwarranted this time.

Heat
(1995)

it is hard to find a movie with so many stars, but so forgettable
A lot of drama, action, good looking people, people with style, fancy stuffs, nice shots, and so on. Yet, I cannot remember what this movie is about.

It is really about nothing. Nothing makes sense.

Driving Miss Daisy
(1989)

the story is bland and not interesting
I don't know how this move got so many accolades back then.

Yes, the music is very good. The cinematography is very good. The acting is quite good.

But, the story is bland and a lot of the plot doesn't make a lot of sense.

The conversations aren't that interesting either.

Interstellar
(2014)

Just one very bad actor
The story is certainly not scientific - OK, it is given nowadays, I could care less.

A lot of very good acting, and some interesting conversation.

However, the center of the movie, the leading actor, does not look like an engineer nor a farmer, but an actor.

Four Weddings and a Funeral
(1994)

Great cast, beautifully shot, but, cannot overcome a stupid story
Slow, indecisive, nonsense, a lot of sex, but little love.

All these mess leads to the eventual conclusion - marriage is meaningless.

I feel sorry for the great cast.

Snatch
(2000)

a lot of stars, portraying groups of varied idiots
I know everything is very elaborate, the way they speak, the dull cinematography, but for what? A bunch of idiots with style, put them together and see what comes of it. Thank you, but I'd rather watch lottery winning shows.

Gypsy
(1962)

Does anyone know how to speak, other than yelling?
Unless you enjoy yelling all the way, which I don't, this movie is not watchable.

Good cast, beautiful technicolor, nice costumes, all in vain because of this constant yelling from begin to end.

The Predator
(2018)

very bad, but perfectly watchable and good entertainment.
I thought this was a B movie, until I see the 88 mil budget.

The story does not make much sense, as usual. Themes does not connect, like a typical B movie.

However, I find it entertaining and enjoyable.

The cast did a good job.

It knows it is bad, but it doesn't force viewers to buy meaningless cliches, as many other well rated movies do.

Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
(1966)

what is the point of watching this movie?
I don't see any entertainment, anything interesting.

If you act like an asshole, you are an asshole, period, done, over, end of story.

I guess they did a good job to portray a asshole, but I don't really care, there are plenty of them out there.

Sleepless in Seattle
(1993)

It is a movie. Treat it as one, and it is a great one.
Don't try to make sense of it, just enjoy it, and you will not be disappointed.

The story may not be original, but it is beautifully done, a classic.

Alita: Battle Angel
(2019)

Brilliant, exceptional, pure entertainment!
It seems a lot of people don't like it - I don't know why. Maybe it is because they are critics.

I enjoyed the film thoroughly. I am sure there are imperfections somewhere, but who cares, it is just awesome, everywhere I see.

The Last Castle
(2001)

good cast, story has some good points, but ultimately failed.
Like other reviewers have said, missed opportunities, or maybe, there was never a good, coherent story to begin with.

It is a difficult topic, and I yet to see any movie tackles that well. However, they just seem to look for the easy way out, with a silly ending.

Poltergeist
(1982)

don't waste your time, nothing interesting happens
I turned it off after 20 slow, boring minutes.

I admit I do not find a static flashing TV interesting. Why they don't close the window curtain if the weather bothers them? Trying to create a story out of nothing?

Comments from the industry: excellent acting, definitely a Steven Spielberg movie. They just won't say it is "a good movie", or a "interesting story".

The Conversation
(1974)

excellent film making, but weak story
The story is really weak and simplistic. The director and the cast certainly made the best of it, but there is only so much they can do.

It is slow, but pretty, so I guess it depends on what is on your mind.

Us
(2019)

Excruciatingly slow, not really any story here, except bunch of nonsense
Good, maybe excellent cinematography, good acting, suspense, maybe. However, all of the above, cannot make up for a bad script. I guess the script is so bad, it has to go with a snail pace.

Dark Haul
(2014)

A low budget movie with a pretty good story and cast
It is a low budget movie, and it certainly shows.

Nonetheless, I find it enjoyable. It has a interesting story with originality, and the cast is good.

The Island
(2005)

Very watchable and a good entertainment
A rather simplistic and predictable story, slow in the early part of the movie, but nonetheless, it is entertaining and very watchable.

The hypothesis this move is based on does not make much sense, but still far less atrocious than all of the time-travel movies.

The plot is simple and straight forward, but

1. It is still better than those convoluted, senseless ones.

2. It is still better than those without any plot, just piles of cliches.

Out of Rosenheim
(1987)

It is a unusual film, but that alone does not make it good
The movie has some good moments, but overall, does not make a good story.

It feels stale, unreal, pretentious, and lack excitement. Overall a slow and boring movie.

Kick-Ass
(2010)

There is no better entertainment than this one!
I was a little disappointed by the rather long and slow self narration at the beginning, but once that is over, it gets better by the minute.

It is not perfect, it is not sane, but as far as movie goes, it is top notch.

Florence Foster Jenkins
(2016)

Nowhere close to the true story
A well made movie, perhaps, some good conversations, and Aida Garifullina's performance is breathtaking, however, the story just doesn't add up.

Imaging, an aging woman who cannot sing, not in great health, yet has a lot of fans and supporters, a lot of whom are well known people. She must have some special qualities.

The movie portrays Jenkins as a frail, depending, insecure and somewhat childish person. It seems to me she was the exact opposite to what was portrayed.

Roadhouse 66
(1984)

Yes, there are attractive people.
They just don't do things make any sense for the most part.

Garbo Talks
(1984)

a nice drama with great cast
This movie is not easily understood. I wouldn't call it a comedy.

It is New York, Technicolor, people, eccentric, and psychology.

The Wolf of Snow Hollow
(2020)

it is tiring watching the son of the sheriff acting brain dead and calling the shots
And, if he does not act brain dead, then there wouldn't so much a movie.

Face/Off
(1997)

what is good about this movie?
It is slow, dumb, and sorry, Cage is just not a good villain, and Travolta not a good cop. Script is not good, and the direction is no batter.

War for the Planet of the Apes
(2017)

slow, long, predictable, unbelievable...
Sorry, I cannot continue watching this one past 20min. It is just boring.
