Mother! No! People said it was a weird movie so I decided to watch it and make up my own mind. Weird? Yes, but it doesn't bother me. The biggest problem in the movie is that there's no moment where it explains itself or brings a decent solution to everything we have just seen. It's like a huge nonesense.
I kinda got all this allegory theme thing about god and mother earth, but it still doesn't make sense. It's not really clear what the purpose of the movie is and what Darren Aronofsky is actually trying to say here. The movie is trying too hard to be smart, like it has some hidden meanings, but the result is a stupid and ridiculous movie that lost it's point.
It started well but then got more and more exaggerated with more and more "WTF" moments, too much to take. With time it only gets worse, that's a shame. The second half was messy and cringey, very annoying.
Also, it could and should be shorter (something like an hour and a half is enough), two hours is a lot for this movie.
Honestly, at first I liked the movie until some point (around one hour into the movie), then I changed my mind during the watching and didn't like it. I believe that with more proper writing it will all be better and work out somehow.
Yet, there're good things about it that kept my eyes on the screen: the pretty interesting story, the dark atmosphere, and the great acting - especially Jennifer Lawrence's performance (Michelle Pfeiffer's too) which was on point.
