Onward
(2020)

Not the best Pixar film, but still great
It sucks that this movie came out right before the pandemic hit. It is honestly pretty underrated.

Basically, Pixar took the movie "Bright" and made it for kids. And it actually works really well. The concept of a fantasy world with a modern setting is actually really fun, and I enjoyed this movie a decent amount. It also has a pretty great message too.

Raya and the Last Dragon
(2021)

Mediocre and all over the place
This movie feels like it was supposed to be a tv show that was crammed down to fit a 90-minute runtime. The result is a movie with rushed pacing, and overall isn't that great. Honestly, this movie should have been like 2 1/2 hours!

The animation is great. The story is not bad, and I did enjoy the visuals and art style.

I personally think the movie goes on a downward spiral when Sisu (the dragon) gets introduced. She got on my nerves really fast, and I honestly could not tell if this movie wanted to be serious or lighthearted. I feel like this movie should have just stuck to a serious tone and had little bits of humor here and there. Instead, they quickly go back and forth between serious and funny, and it gets old really fast.

Overall, worth 90 minutes? Maybe for kids.

Paranormal Caught on Camera
(2019)

I want to like this show, but its very flawed
Some of the videos here are believable, some are not.

The biggest problem with this show is that most of the run time is made up of crappy stock footage and the "experts" giving their over the top theories that don't make sense. The episodes are 42 minutes long, when they could be easily around 21 minutes long if they trimmed all the extra crap. If they want to make this show better, they should just cut the experts and let the audiences come up with their own theories. It would make the show much more thought provoking and creepy.

I am someone who likes cryptids, aliens, etc. And anything paranormal. I really want to like this show, but when its anything but the paranormal videos, it feels like I am wasting my time. You are better off looking up paranormal videos on Reddit or YouTube.

Malignant
(2021)

The description for this movie on HBO Max is misleading.
I watched 30 minutes of it, and then cut it off. The movie was extremely different from the plot summary on HBO Max. I could've swore I accidentally clicked on a different movie until the opening credits.

I know that subverting audience expectations can be used to great effect, but it just didn't work here.

Also, from the first 30 minutes I saw of the movie, I wasn't impressed nor scared. I was very confused. And the acting ranged from okay to adult film bad. It was cheesy.

Men in Black³
(2012)

Better than 2
Much better than MIB 2. It has its flaws, but it's still a fun movie.

Men in Black
(1997)

Best MIB Movie.
The best MIB movie in the whole series happens to be the first one. Great humor, great action, and some memorable moments. If anything, just watch this one alone and forget about the other movies.

Men in Black II
(2002)

The weakest MIB movie
Out of the main trilogy, this one is the weakest. I can't even really remember what the plot was about. Overall, I found this one to be really... boring. No real memorable jokes either.

Army of the Dead
(2021)

Could have been something special.
The plot and general setup for this movie sounds awesome. A heist movie with zombies in Las Vegas? Sign me up. The problem is the execution.

I watched the movie expecting to get zombie killing fun with cheesy moments and an overall fun time. I got that, but the movie feels a bit bloated at times, and also could have spent more time on the heist and the zombie killing,

The one thing that really holds this movie back from greatness is the side plot with the daughter wanting to save 3 people who willingly went back into Las Vegas to get money from one of the casinos. I understand the motivation to save people, but when there's 9 minute left till the city is nuked, it's a really dumb decision.

Also, there isn't really even a heist. It all goes wrong because one of the guys in the crew turns on the rest. As a result, no money is taken, and the entire crew is pretty much killed. It all feels like it was for nothing. This movie could have been sick. But instead, the movie wastes its potential by falling on dumb cliches and dumb plot points.

Watch the first 15 minutes and then just turn it off. The opening montage is the best part of the entire movie. That, and one casino shootout.

Invincible
(2021)

Something Special
I watched the first episode expecting a boring show about a superhero in training. The ending of Episode 1 caught me off guard enough that I got hooked to the show. So far it's great.

It's a cross between Young Justice and The Boys. The fight scenes are incredible. It feels like how an actual superhero fight would go down.

Awesome show.

Mortal Kombat
(2021)

I was a bit disappointed
I wanna start off by saying that I've played the Mortal Kombat games enough to recognize the fan service and the Easter eggs, as well as all the characters and some of the story. I've never been super into fighting games, but I do enjoy Mortal Kombat every now and then.

As for the movie? It was disappointing. It felt... anti-climactic? Like the fight scenes were awesome, and so were the fatalities. But everything else was really mediocre. The acting and line delivery is kinda bad. The writing is awkward at times (Except Kano. They nailed his character).

The main character, Cole, should've been cut from the movie. It should have just been all the characters from the games competing in the tournament. The movie overall feels rushed. Like, there's no build up or tension to the final battle. It's a 1 hour and 50 minute movie that feels like it should've been 3 hours long. Heck, I'd love to see a 3 hour cut of this movie.

Overall, the movie feels really rushed. Watch for the fight scenes ONLY. If you're a fan of the games you'll like this one for sure. They did change the story a bit.

Narcos
(2015)

Watch for the Pablo Escobar Story
I loved the first two seasons. I didn't really care for season 3. The show should've ended with Escobars death.

Doom Eternal
(2020)

A breath of fresh air in a crowded genre.
There's so much to talk about in this game, but I gotta say that this game takes everything that made Doom 2016 great and improves on it. This is a game that's aimed more at FPS enthusiasts, but it's definitely worth it. If you're more casual and have played Doom 2016, I'd recommend playing at the lowest difficulty level the first time around to get used to the mechanics and gameplay elements.

Pros:

  • Awesome weapon selection. Guns all have a use. You can't just use the super shotgun and the ballista. You have to use weapons for different enemy types (I.e. Use the plasma rifle to burst enemy shields)
  • Enemies all have distinct designs and attacks. The only enemy I loathe is the Marauder.

  • When you're playing the game, it's like there's a "flow". You have to master this flow in order to win the game. Forget Dark Souls, you have split seconds to react and think. It makes the game uniquely intense.

  • The level design is fantastic. I enjoyed some of the platforming. It felt cartoony yet fun.

  • This game really doesn't hold your hand. There isn't really any scripted events of quick time events. Don't go in here expecting Call of Duty style missions.

  • When you die, it feels fair.

Cons:

  • The Marauders.

  • Platforming can be annoying at first. Minor complaint.

  • Difficultly spike from Doom 2016 may be annoying for some. Again, you can change the difficulty to your liking.

Solid 9/10. Tired of boring FPS games like Call of Duty? Here's something to truly test your skills.

Breaking Bad
(2008)

One of the best TV Shows ever made
I'm not gonna spoil anything. It's best to go into this show completely blind.

War Dogs
(2016)

Solid Film, Much Better then I was expecting
Usually these types of films leave you bored. This one really caught my interest.

Knock Knock
(2015)

Torturous.
This film is an hour and half of watching an innocent man being tortured. That's literally the movie. Don't waste your time.

Black Panther
(2018)

A movie that fails to deliver on the hype
Black Panther was a movie that I didn't really care to see. Sure, there was a LOT of hype for it, but in the long run, it just seemed to me like it would be another Marvel film. Now, after seeing it, it's safe to say I'm glad I wasn't that hyped.

The Pros:
  • Excellent Acting
  • A good car chase sequence
  • A good score
  • A villain that has an actual meaningful goal
  • A decent story

The Cons:
  • Little to no action or fighting. All the action is ruined with a shaky camera that shakes so much you can't tell what's happening
  • Poor CGI. Some scenes look like they were ripped straight from a video game
  • An underwhelming final fight scene
  • The comedic bits don't land (Especially the awful vine reference)
  • Wasted potential

Verdict: Black Panther isn't as good as everyone is making it out to be. It's a decent film, but it's not a masterpiece. I would only recommend it for huge marvel fans or people who want to see a movie that connects to Infinity War.

Far Cry 3
(2012)

Excellent
Far Cry 3 is an amazing open-world FPS.

Pros:
  • A good story with an incredible main character and villain.
  • Great open world filled with side missions and other things to do.
  • A nice upgrade system that makes the gameplay more dynamic
  • The guns are excellent. They sound great and are a blast to use.
  • Vehicles are fun, but a little awkward to control at first.
  • Good crafting system.
  • Some good side characters.

Cons:
  • Some of the side missions are repetitive.
  • Most of the side characters aren't that great.

In conclusion, Far Cry 3 is incredible. It's one of the best open world games I've played in a while.

Doom
(2016)

The Best Shooter of 2016
Doom 2016 is near excellent. Let me break down the pros and cons real quick.

Pros:
  • Adrenaline Pumping Combat that feels like the old school Doom games with some new mechanics, like jumping and weapon mods
  • Sick Weapons
  • Great Graphics
  • A story that's short and simple, and barely has any cutscenes.
  • Doom Guy is still great. His personality is told through his actions, and the game keeps him silent like the originals.
  • An upgrade system that makes the game more replayable.
  • Tons of Secrets and Collectibles
  • Top Notch Sound Design
  • Good Creature Design
  • Fun Boss Fights
  • An excellent soundtrack that makes the combat x1000 more intense.
  • Snap Map is cool.

Cons:
  • Mediocre multiplayer. It aims for a classic Quake/ Arena Shooter feel, but the class system ruins it.
Verdict: Doom 2016 is a great game for any Doom fan and fan of old-school shooters. It's a must buy. The multiplayer is not that great, but you don't play a Doom game for the multiplayer. Overall, this game is insanely good, and it's the Best Shooter of 2016, and also one of the best shooters I've played in a long time.

Minions
(2015)

An unnecessary film made only to sell Minion Merchandise
Minions is a mediocre film. It has a decent plot, but the film completely wastes any potential it could've had. The problem I had with it is that the film revolves around a side character that was fun in small doses, but annoying in long ones. For example, the first Despicable Me film was a great flick. It had a good plot, good characters, and good writing. The minions were in it, but they were funny and only shown in short bits. However, here, they're on the screen all the time and the jokes with them aren't really all that funny. Overall, this film is great for kids, but adults may want to stray away from it.

Transformers: Age of Extinction
(2014)

Transformers: Age of Extinction is the most boring movie I have ever seen
I'm a pretty big action fan, but I still expect more from entertainment. I expect good characters, a decent plot, and good action sequences. This film has none of that. This movie is a nearly 3 hour long un-fun, boring turd fest that couldn't keep my interest for even 5 minutes. It's plot is all over the place, it has unfunny humor, confusing action scenes, awful characters, lukewarm acting, and a TON of product placement. It's like every 2 minutes it cuts to a commercial. Of course, I rented it, but it still wasted my time. Overall, don't watch it. Heck, don't even rent it. It's not worth your time or money.
