Damsel
(2024)

M.B.B. Grunting for an Hour
First 30 minutes seemed promising, but it quickly defies logic from there. If you're even remotely intelligent you'll be sorely disappointed. M. B. B. Stumbles round a cave for an hour grunting, groaning and screaming. Somehow she doesn't learn that screaming gives away her location. She sure can get around fast though, given that she was able to descend from the top of the mountain to her father in mere seconds. For whatever reason, the Queen has a US accent whilst everyone else sounds British. Stepmother jumps off a horse, forgetting she was stabbed in the last scene. It's astounding that the dragon has lived to be so old, considering how stupid it's portrayed to be. Somehow it couldn't smell M. B. B. 1 meter away behind a stalagmite, but it can hear some armour falling over 1 mile away at the other side of the cave. Dragon has several perfect opportunities to execute M. B. B. But chooses not to. Dragon also has no idea it's being played, which is comical considering that the "daughters" it's being given are of every different race. Best of all, the fire-breathing dragon somehow manages to burn itself with its own fire (which looks more like lava might I add).

Thoroughly enjoyable
I'm not a fan of subtitles, so I was a little apprehensive, but knowing it had won an Oscar, I had to give it a go. Half way in, I was gripped. Some very interesting plot twists to keep you on your toes. I'd say it was 20 minutes or so too long, but thoroughly enjoyable nonetheless.

London Has Fallen
(2016)

American Propoganda
Typical Hollywood drivel.

PLOT: The UK president dies, and all the world leaders arrive in London to attend the funeral. The event is infiltrated by terrorists, who somehow manage to masquerade as police/secret service officers and plant bombs in some of the most secure buildings in London. All of the world leaders are murdered... except, of course, THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE; the president of the USA. London soon turns anarchy because the UK government/police/army/secret service are totally incompetent. But don't worry, the USA is a SUUUPERPOWERRR don't you know?! To cut a long story short, America saves the day because it's the most superior country on Earth... duh!

Absolute garbage.

X-Men: Apocalypse
(2016)

Disappointing
It was okay, but it's definitely the worst instalment in the X Men series. There were too many loopholes that spoiled it for me. One example would be that Storm and Jean fight alongside Kurt/Nightcrawler in this movie. Yet, when they find him in the church in the future (X Men 2), they'd never met him and have no idea who he is. Another example is that young Jean seems to be massively powerful in this movie, yet in the first two films she'd barely learnt to use her telepathy, let alone her telekinesis. Also, Mystique's costume is way off. The shade of blue is far too dark, and her markings are completely different to the four movies before this.

Started well, and ended poorly!
I watched all six episodes in one day, hoping that it would make the plot easier to follow, as opposed to waiting a week between each instalment. I was wrong. The first three episodes were thoroughly enjoyable to watch. There were some great moments, such as the totally out-of-the-blue shooting from the office block. Sadly, after Julia had finally been killed, the quality dipped and the plot became convoluted. First it was the Government who killed her, then the Secret Service, then some crime ring, then the Secret Service, and so on... I finished the series not really sure which parts of the murder the Government, Secret Service, and gang each contributed to. The last episode was really quite boring, and I found myself checking how long was left a couple of times. The final confession of the Jihadi woman was hard to understand. Why couldn't she go ahead with the train bombing, but was more than happy to blow up a school?

6/10 - And it would've been lower had I not enjoyed the first three episodes.
