Gracepoint
(2014)

Why the hate?
I never watched Broadchurch, and I never will based on the parents guide for it. I was pleasantly surprised that this version had very little foul language and almost always discussed sexual topics in a careful and non graphic way. (I say almost because one character mentioned in passing she doesn't like p*nises anymore) This show is definitely still for mature viewing, and several topics besides the obvious disturbing murder of a young boy are discussed (fornication, rape, incest, suicide) and may be triggering to some viewers. It's very dark and mysterious and keeps you on the edge of your seat, so I'm not really sure why all the hate, even if the remake was supposedly better. I give it 8 stars because of the crude comment mentioned above and the use of God's name, but overall it was a very enjoyable whodunnit binge watch.

Debris
(2021)

Cool
So far I like it! It's got a creepy vibe, never know what's going to happen next, effects are top notch, acting is good with the added benefit of not having the f-bomb thrown in your face like every other sci fi seems to think is necessary these days...which means it will probably get cancelled, so enjoy it while you can.

Sweet Tooth

So bad
I tried this show because I was craving a good sci fi/fantasy and reviews said it was pretty clean as far as bad language, sex, etc. But it's so bad. The kid is cute, sure, but I ended up not caring what happened to him because he was never listened! He knows he will get killed if he wanders off, yet he still does. He's part deer for crying out loud, he should be scared of everything. And the doctor...he has a treatment for his wife, yet watches as they burn his friend alive in his own house. Just stupid. Don't waste your time.

The Legend of 5 Mile Cave
(2019)

Good, Clean Western
I am forever on the lookout for family friendly movies that aren't super cheesy or just plain badly made, so I really liked this movie! Fun to see all of these actors together and on something with no language, sex, or blood and gore. Definitely recommend!

Breakthrough
(2019)

Just wanted to give it a 9
Awesome movie, Praise the Lord! No review, just wanted to put my 9 stars :)

Last Knights
(2015)

Great movie
Yet another GOOD movie that got no recognition and probably no sequel. One of my favorite medieval movies, loved the plot twist, the costumes, the sets, the casting...the soundtrack is awesome. Check it out.

Malibu Dan the Family Man
(2017)

I wanted to like it....
I love the idea of a family sitcom that's actually safe for the family to watch and even has Christian morals, so I tried this series. The first few episodes were okay-ish, the canned laughter at the wrong times was annoying but the shows were tolerable, a few chuckles here and there. I was hoping it would pick up speed as the cast became more cohesive....but by the fourth episode, it just wasn't happening. Still wishing for a good, clean, family comedy that's actually funny.

The X Files
(1993)

The 5 out of 10 is for the new seasons
I would give the original series an 8 or 9 from what I can remember. It's been quite a while since I watched the X -Files, but what I do know is that it was an intelligent show with, you know, an actual story line. In Season 10 they did an OK job of picking up on the story line of Scully and Mulder's child who had special abilities of some kind but she gave away, along with the new storyline about an incurable illness. Ok, let's go with that. Nope, Season 11 is something totally different, let's just forget the last 6 episodes ever happened, and we'll just keep investigating some X-files while we wait for something to happen. But the problem is there IS no investigating. Lines like "Do you know how they're doing that?" or "How is this happening?" answered by "No Mulder, I don't know" followed by....nothing. No tests, no cool gadgets...I guess we'll just wait until the next person gets gruesomely murdered and hope something magically solves itself. By the way, we'll make it more gruesome and bloody than the original ever was and hope that covers the fact that we have no storyline. I love that they brought back all of the original cast, Mulder and Scully still have nice chemistry....but... keep watching hoping that I will be soon, but so far, I'm not that impressed.

King's Faith
(2013)

One of the best Christian movies I'd never heard of
Four things I really loved about this movie:

1. Race was never an issue. EVER. Instead of the stereotypical tough black kid from a gang with a white foster family, they switched it around and it was never even obvious, showing that we're all human, we all make mistakes, and we can all also be caring and kind people, which has nothing to do with the color of our skin.

2. The Christians were never over-the-top goody goody characters, and neither were the "bad guys" over-the-top, loud and obnoxious. They were real human beings with different backgrounds and different problems.

3. The music actually fit the scenes and never blew me out of my chair from the volume change, which seems to be a requirement for movies anymore.

4: It had a hopeful ending, but it didn't end with a pretty bow tied up nice and neat. These were people who had faith in Jesus so they could face the problems in their life, not people who had a fairy-tale happily-ever-after life because they believed in Jesus.

Just a warning for younger kids and those of us who are sensitive to violence, this film did have pretty intense flash-back scenes which included blood, one of which happens at the very beginning of the film. Otherwise there was really no objectionable content for anyone over 13.

Hope this was helpful, God bless!
