The American Society of Magical Negroes
(2024)

"I Am Your Magic Negro"
"The American Society of Magical Negroes" boldly confronts the entrenched social inequalities and systemic racism that persist in spaces dominated by white power structures. Justice Smith's portrayal of Aaron exposes the insidious nature of racism, where Black people conform to stereotypical roles to appease their white counterparts. The film cleverly uses humor to highlight the absurdity of these expectations while shedding light on the neglect and marginalization experienced by Black people in predominantly white environments. Drew Tarver's nuanced performance as the client adds depth to the narrative, showcasing the microaggressions and blind spots that perpetuate racial inequities. Through sharp wit and insightful commentary, the movie delves into the complexities of race relations, making it a compelling and socially relevant cinematic experience. PS: Rating bombed as expected.

The New Look
(2024)

Someone used too much effects
What is happening with color grading, lens flare effects, and washout in it? It's like watching an HDR movie on TV without HDR support. They tried to use different colors for different time periods and moods, but it all made it confusing because they constantly switch color grading from one to another. Also, they literally wash out colors from some scenes, so people become unrecognizable. Additionally, some scenes look like someone forgot to clean up dust from the lens. Some shooting angles are super weird and strange, like we're looking at all like perverts. Overall, it's a good show, but it has horrendous post-effects and post-production.

The Winter King
(2023)

Decent Adaptation in Difficult Times
A captivating start to a promising series, "The Winter King" immediately drew me into its world with its intriguing first episode. From the moment it began, I found myself engrossed in the story and invested in the characters' journeys. The show's attention to detail, especially in terms of costumes and set design, brought the Arthurian world to life in a visually impressive way.

One of the most impressive aspects of the show is its exceptional cast. The actors delivered performances that felt genuine and layered, adding depth to the characters they portrayed. I was particularly impressed by Iain de Caestecker's portrayal of Arthur, which was both powerful and relatable. Nathaniel Martello-White's take on Merlin added a new dimension to the character, and his chemistry with Arthur was a highlight.

I appreciate the show's commitment to diversity in casting, even in the face of unwarranted backlash. While some negative reviews may be fueled by bias, I found the diverse cast to be a refreshing approach to a well-known story. The pacing of the first episode kept me engaged, and I was intrigued by the relationships that were established.

"The Winter King" manages to reimagine the Arthurian legend in a way that feels both familiar and new. Its ability to balance character development, storytelling, and strong performances is impressive, and I'm excited to see where the series goes from here. For those who enjoy fantasy and historical adaptations, this show is definitely worth giving a chance.

Teen - a person's age from 13 to 19.
Decent coming of age series, with some fun, some nostalgy, but mostly another Netflix fill the checkbox for new users to add series, i dont think they will greenlight season 2, and what we get is one season series with some good actors over 20 years old playing teens, main leads are 20 and 25, but completly forgetable perfomance due to all cliche netflix just putting like roblox game creators to fill the void. Does it need to be seen? Mostly like background of your home chores or working on laptop, it will be good but not remarkable. If only Netflix would stop canceling shows after 1-2 seasons and gave creative control to people like Maria Gamboa, allowing them to create regardless of series lenght, allow us to grow with characters, but in the time of streaming creativity is dying breed.

Moonhaven
(2022)

Am I out of touch? No, it's the show is wrong
People with 1 star reviews you have been fooled, because it was not for you show, you expected Expanse, The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress type of show but instead you got philosophical show about humanity and lack of it.

It show about how humans adapt to any enviroment even utopian one and eventually change it to dystopian, are we doomed is the question you need to answer after watching it. Good luck and may I. O. will never lead your journey.

Don't take it seriously
Its based on comics low budget road mini series, decent flick for one night watch, like it and maybe budget will be increased for season 2, keep in mind that is long in development, 8 years from idea of series to final result.

In China We Trust
Very patriotic propaganda with some mediocre battle scenes, sadly nothing new or interesting, USSR did same level of propaganda long ago, but for 80s it was innovative.

How I Met Your Father
(2022)

Show for Hillary Duff fans only
If you love Hillary Duff this is so for you. Because it's boring, not funny, has nothing original and flat, why they did sequel is beyond understanding.

Screw

Jamie-Lee O'Donnell & Nina Sosanya is great duet, give it a chance you will see.
Cong. To Jamie-Lee O'Donnell for good start as leading actor :) along with Nina Sosanya who got her own series, finaly!

Writers should do more plot in first episode so people would understand that is show about day by day life of C block and not Orange New Black sitcom.

Tyler Perry's Assisted Living
(2020)

Tyler Perry is Melissa McCarthy of black people
To make unfunny tv series you need to be a true talent, it should be whole crew working together to make outstanding garbage like this. Great work! As long as Tyler Perry making this black people can't see good intelligent entertainment for black people with black people in it.

Christmas Comes Twice
(2020)

black people on hallmark and not like no story sidekicks
Wow what happened with most white W. A. S. P. tv network in america?

Kudos for trying, but you really need to hire new writers and not use reshuffle program of stories.

A Christmas for Mary
(2020)

Oprah Winfrey answer to all white Hallmark Christmas
Personally i think movie is dull, simple and dumb but its does not matter, because its black christmas movie and that is very rare creature, representation matter even if it representation in that way.

Motherland: Fort Salem
(2020)

Why should you watch Motherland Fort Salem
Here a few reasons why

1. It has a canon lead lesbian character. You heard that right. The LEAD character is a lesbian

2. It's ALL about girls and sisterhood. There are almost no male characters and the few male characters that exist serve only as a way to further the girl's story lines

3. The show devotes a HUGE amount of time to the WLW relationship. It's like a fanfic come to life. It feeds you beyond your wildest dreams. And yes there will drama but god the road to the drama is amazing

4. The most comprehensive world building you have ever seen. We are talking about a whole alternative history where witches are part of our world. Not just in the USA but globally. Every major global event and war has been affected by witches. The Legendary Witch Adler is right there alongside Washington, Lincoln and other historical figures And witches are not just regular people who do the occasional spell the way we see them in other shows. They have their whole distinct culture. Different holidays, different take on marriage, different take on the world....It's wonderful and they have really done their research on witchcraft

5. Beautiful cinematography. Fort Salem said no to the dark gritty, no to the Vancouver forests that we will know painfully. Everything is bright, beautiful, enchanting

6. It's well written. You can see that there is a real plan and they are not just doing a monster of the week or drama for drama's sake

7. Diverse cast from all over the world. South Africa, Canada, USA. Sweden, Belgium.

So as you can imagine a show centered around women with a lesbian lead is going to struggle with low and bad reviews on IMDB by misogynists. Bitter boys are already trying to drag it down so this show needs as much as support as it can. Please rate it and please watch it now.

The L Word: Generation Q

Good decent movie about reality of black people and never forget once you off duty black cop you not a cop you are black dude in hoodie you can be executed by police just like any other black human.

Becoming Burlesque

Powerfull movie about women power
One of the best movies about women freedom of choice.

Unplanned
(2019)

propaganda
Propaganda is information that is not impartial and used primarily to influence an audience and further an agenda, often by presenting facts selectively (thus possibly lying by omission) to encourage a particular synthesis, or using loaded messages to produce an emotional rather than rational response to the information presented.

Coroner
(2019)

Serinda Swan finally have haircut she wanted
Great series, decent characters, good plot. The only disadvantage? Only 8 episodes, why some really week series got 23 episodes in one season and this one great, with great actress in main role got only 8 is beyond understanding.

Whiskey Cavalier
(2019)

You saw it before you probably will see it again
Same old plot, same old jokes. FBI agent and CIA agent in romcom comedy, there will be blowups, talks, guns shootings, talks, more talks and in the end one big explosion where they jumping in to the screen. Is it good? Yes, it have same old robust charm. Does it new? Nope. But its good to watch with cup of tea.
