The Animatrix
(2003)

Weird and boring
With the new movie due out I thought I'd rewatch the 3 films for the third time, which I thoroughly enjoyed, then thought why not give this ago also as I'd never seen it. I wish I hadn't. I don't know how I saw it through till the end. It was just weird and incredibly boring. There was literally nothing about it I can say I enjoyed hence the 1 star rating.

La casa de papel
(2017)

A masterpiece in storytelling and audio/visual entertainment
The first season sets it up as an instant classic and every season builds on the excitement and emotion of the last. Simply one of the best series ever created standing alongside the very best of all time.

Ojing-eo geim: Kkanbu
(2021)
Episode 6, Season 1

Wow!
I've never rated an episode before, only a series as a whole, but this episode deserves its own rating. I don't want to give anything away so I'll just say the whole series has been worth watching just for this episode.

The Darkest Minds
(2018)

Enjoyable film, poor ending
I really enjoyed the film up until the last five minutes, then it just felt like the friendships and emotions developed throughout the whole film suddenly meant nothing. It should've been far more satisfying but when it ended I just felt disappointed.

Shazam!
(2019)

I wish I'd seen this when I was a kid
Simply awesome. Fun, non-offensive, very funny, and entertaining from start to finish.

Guns Akimbo
(2019)

Borefest
16 mins and 1 second in. I've never turned off a film so quickly.

The Mauritanian
(2021)

The truth or a version of the truth?
Excellent film with great acting from the lead role. Doubtful of the accuracy, especially after reading reviews pointing out inaccuracies have been removed. But if you can watch without getting too hung up on the details it's a great watch, and even better if it highlights the injustice of Gitmo and those who have supported it.

Vikings
(2013)

Amazing potential, completely ruined
Disappointing and extremely over-hyped. The director was more concerned on over-exaggerating aggression and blood lust at every opportunity, rather than letting the story do the heavy lifting. I understand the story needs an element of violence, but the focus on how brutal it was got in the way of everything and became very dull and tedious. This had all the ingredients to be incredible, but failed miserably. The Last Kingdom and Game of Thrones have nothing to worry about.

Vikings: Sacrifice
(2013)
Episode 8, Season 1

Lost all interest in 1 episode
As the series has progressed I've been feeling more and more like this is just over-hyped and over-rated, then this episode comes along and pretty much ruins the whole show for me. The original theme seems to have gone, and we're just left with hallucinogens, witchcraft and blood sacrifice. No thanks.

Mock the Week
(2005)

Political bias has ruined it
This used to be hilarious no holds barred comedy, but now I get fed up of the constant political bias and agenda enforcing. Was 10/10, now 6/10.

The Last Kingdom: Episode #3.1
(2018)
Episode 1, Season 3

How to ruin the start of a season
Unnecessary over the top violence. Stabbing someone repeatedly in the eyes, drinking blood, really? S1 & 2 have been great but if this is what S3 is resorting to I'm tempted to leave it there.

The OA
(2016)

Possibly the most overrated show I've seen
I'm baffled that this has so many 9 and 10 ratings. I was done with it after a couple of episodes but kept saying to myself it can't be that bad as the ratings are so high, so kept watching. Some of the characters were good, the look and feel of it was great at times, and I wanted to love it, but couldn't. It was weird - not in a good way, frustrating and at times confusing. If you give it a go and don't like it, trust your instincts and not the reviews, which is exactly what I should've done.

After Life
(2019)

Overrated and repetitive
Season 1 was enjoyable but I felt it was highly overrated. I've seen the first 2 episodes of season 2 and I think I'm going to leave it there. It doesn't feel like a continuation of season 1, with an adapting storyline, just more of the same. Complete overuse of the c*** word which is just tiring and tedious and unrealistic situations, such as the postman using the bath and the boy walking in on his parents having sex and just stopping to chat. I have no idea why this is so highly praised. Reasonably amusing and heartwarming at times but also depressing and repetitive. Average at best.

Extraction
(2020)

Too much action and too little story
Great action scenes which at times felt like Call Of Duty the movie, but the lack of a good plot and repetitive action saw me lose interest half way through. I saw it through to the end and while it was decent, it also seemed disappointing and a missed opportunity.

Designated Survivor
(2016)

S1 amazing, S2 boring, don't think I'll get to S3
S1 was amazing. Easily 9/10 for me. Exciting with a cool story that ran through every episode. But in just a few episodes of S2 I was thinking what is going on here? Everything from S1 had been forgotten about and the long running exciting story has been replaced with short uninteresting stories. I've even lost interest in all the characters. And the worst thing is, from reading the majority of reviews, it's S3 that lets this show down. I'm on the verge of quitting now, really bored with it and sad to see such awesome potential ruined.

Destroyer
(2018)

Too little, too late
Decided to watch this after seeing a decent amount of good reviews for it, but found it slow, dull and boring and almost twice as long as it needed to be. I felt all the ingredients were there for a great film, including a good ending, but it just wasn't put together in an enjoyable format. Very disappointing.

You Were Never Really Here
(2017)

Dull, pretentious and boring
Boring from start to finish, confusing, dull, slow, tedious, depressing and pretentious all describe it well. I honestly can't think of anything good to say about it. Even the soundtrack is annoying. Don't waste your time.

Eli
(2019)

Pro devil, anti God agenda
Makes no sense. Blatant pro devil, anti God agenda. Awful in every way.

Captain Marvel
(2019)

Yawn-fest
One of, if not the worst film I've ever seen. So boring and uninteresting. I have nothing positive to say about it at all hence the 1 star review. Also shocked to see such a high rating when the majority of reviews rate it 3 or less. Doesn't give much credibility to IMDb ratings.

A Vigilante
(2018)

Painfully slow and predictable
An absolute bore-fest from start to finish. Way too slow and predictable.

Replicas
(2018)

Could've been really good
I really wanted to like this as the plot sounded great, but other than being nice to look at, it just didn't do the storyline justice. The acting was poor and the dialogue was awkward and even cringeworthy at times. It's such a shame as it could've been so good. I just don't get how the actors weren't made to reshoot most of the scenes until they did a good job of it. If like me you love films with similar themes you might be tempted to watch it and you might just about enjoy it, but I'll be very surprised if it doesn't disappoint you.

The Walking Dead
(2010)

Don't waste your time. You'll regret it.
Starts off good and gets worse...and worse...and worse. The first 3 seasons were the only ones I really enjoyed then I felt like I should carry on watching it because I'd invested so much time in it. It then felt boring and repetitive but kept watching hoping it would get better. I got as far as season 7 episode 1 and got to see the horrific scenes that played out which made me draw the line and turn it off mid episode. It was way to graphic and OTT and if this isn't part of some desensitising agenda I'll eat my hat. I'm disappointed I persisted. All my friends have also given up watching at various points throughout the show. It started out well but I've never seen a season sink so low.

The Principle
(2014)

Excellent viewing if you are open minded enough to explore the possibility of geocentrism
An eyeopening and thought-provoking documentary which if you can watch without bias or any preconceived ideas you will enjoy. Although the filmmakers seem to have set out with the intention of supporting geocentrism, it does give a balanced view showing both sides of the debate from those who support the theory and those who strongly deny it. Although I didn't agree with everything in this film I was still fascinated with the information provided and felt it gave a very good argument for geocentrism.

If this film highlighted one thing however, for me it was the fact that our mainstream scientists now seem to be failing us, by refusing to consider any facts that don't support current accepted theories and ideas. This was really sad to see, and it was done so openly. It was hard to believe that some of these scientists could literally deny something just because they didn't want to accept it as a possibility. Surely true science should consider all evidence and base findings on fact alone, rather than trying to make something work in favour of studying another possibility because the consequence of the other outcome wouldn't be in their favour. It's an essential watch if only to expose this.
